hickok45 I am from NY and I know you are not crazy about people from NY. That being said I did look at your original video about this pistol, that you paint as being painful to watch. However, this NY guy thought it was one of your and John's best videos. You spoke about how near and dear the revolver is to you and how much you loved your parents without actually saying those words. You see Sir, it does not matter where we are from in this great Country, because we all share the same values. Thank you to You and John for all the great work. Wyatt
I've shot everything in it over the years, but I'm just tired of dealing with pathetic .22 ammo. I've resolved to just pick up a few boxes of the CCI occasionally and keep it on hand. I bought four 100-packs at the gun show yesterday. I don't burn through thousands of .22 rounds anyway, so the added cost is not that big a deal.
Yeah I'm wondering if it's ok to use the high volcity cci 1260 fps I to love this gun it's so we'll built and you can survive with this pistol it will protect you and you can put food on the table It will kill a person this caliber is not to be underestimated why people try say oh it's just a 22 I saw a guy drop a 1200 pound bull 🐂 that bull hit the ground like a sack of taters did move at all he was dead before he even hit the ground it was for beef made some nice stakes hamburger but yeah don't ever under est
It is genuinely a high point in my week when a new hickok45 video comes along! I cannot say how impressed I am with both his knowledge and his shooting. Just incredible.
I've been watching Hickok for awhile man and all I can say is fundamentals. He shoots better off the cuff than anyone I've ever seen. Speed is nothing without accuracy. What a mentor thank you Hickok
I learned to shot during the 70s and 80s with a Model 41. My dad had two and gave them to me and my older brother. I still have it and seeing this makes me want to get back to the range.
i've just try this gun in france, i'm new in shooting, but with this beauty i can group 10 bullet in a circle of 6 cm at 50 meters (nearly 55 yards). this gun is magic, compared to a 10 years old walther P22. ok it's not tactical but it's truly a piece of ART !!
The S&W Model 41 is hands down the most accurate semi-auto .22 pistol I have ever had the pleasure of laying my hands upon! Shooting CCI Standard Velocity the recoil is so light it feels like shooting an airgun.
I'm looking into shooting as a sport and why not self defense if it comes to it. and this channel has become a recent favorite! Hickock is like the gun master grandpa I never had!
I realize this video is 11 years old but just saw it. I have a S&W 41 I used several years ago for Bullseye shooting. I installed custom made for me large grips for one handed shooting. I also installed an Ultra tube type red dot sight. I gave up bullseye for USPSA and about 2 years ago started shooting SCSA mostly .22 rimfire rifle . I took the 41 out of retirement and installed the stock grips for 2 handed shooting. I also replaced the Ultra Dot for a C-More and bore sighted it just yesterday. Will take it out and finish sighting it in soon. Now just need for shooting season to start again in Wisconsin.
It is a Match pistol. Had one issued to me for my 22 in 3gun. Super accurate, Beautiful trigger and yes simulates the 1911 feel of service pistol. I had the 5in bull barrel. Shorter sight radius but felt like a 1911. I love it.
It Hitchcock I had one of those with the five and a half inch barrel in the 70 inch barrel with a little rib tip that would go on it and I believe it even had aluminum waste to go in that Barrel I sold it for what I thought was a lot of money in 2008 but now I've always have regretted it I enjoyed that gun so much shooting it and that's what I shot it all the time with CCI thank you for taking time to talk about this gun the Model 41 it's a heck of a gun
as always a great video! I'm 24 and you helped me get back into shooting and with out getting into detail, its helped kept me away from bad people places and things...
My! First hand gun. I am 54yr of age and live in NJ, purchased back in I think 1981 maybe 83 or so, and still one-of my beloved guns. Like remembering your first car you still want to be driving-it Thanks ~M~
I have a model 2206 smith and Wesson bought it back In 1993 very accurate it uses the same magazines as the model 41 I have eight magazines I wouldn't sell it shoots any ammo thanks for the very good video.
I just absolutely love watching you Hickok. You get me so tickled most of the time my roommate comes in wondering just what in the hell it is I find so funny. But truthfully, even if you were just on camera telling stories or something I think I'd enjoy it very much. But like some of these others have said, you're an excellent shot and it's a pleasure to watch you in action. Keep up the good work and keep on bringing us all the good info that we shooters really need. Specs only do so much!.
I watched a video of him yesterday shooting a Mauser K98. He said, "I'm not a rifleman" and proceeded to nail a steel plate at 230 yards with surplus ammo and open sights. Love to watch the man work. He has me referring to my house as "the compound."
Back in the '70s I couldn't afford the S&W41 nor the Browning Medalist, so I got a Browning Challenger. A good, accurate gun. Unfortunately I had to sell it in the '90s and regretted it ever since. Last year I got another Challenger and it's a dream to shoot. Very accurate and will eat any ammo. The 22's are a lot of cheap fun, and that 41 is at the top of my list for another 22. They are really expensive lately so keep that one you got.
And you say your not a precision shooter? Knocking that can out of the goats ear is about as precise as one can get. You are something Hickok, what a joy to watch!!!
I love hickok. I watch these videos every day because I am approaching the age where I can buy my own firearm. Thank you hickok for helping me choose my first gun. I am going to purchase a .357 Magnum or a Glock 17. SOOOO FREAKING EXCITED!
I’ve wanted one for 3 hours. True story. Went from browning Buckmark to reading about the 41. Got a 10% off discount from my range and that was the beginning of the purchase. Waiting my 72 hours- which to me makes no sense unless you are buying your first gun and have ill intentions. No ill intentions.
S&W 41, S&W M17, High Standard Supermatic, Ruger Mark II (with a bull barrel), guns from when they actually built them right and didnt charge you and arm and a leg for them. Want that kind of accuracy in a modern gun and we are talking the likes of Morini, Hämmerli or Feinwerkbau and they do cost a fortune. I shoot a High Standard occasionally, that old thing could be used to club a buffalo but d*mn it shoots good groups. Thank you for another excellent video.
I had one in England. And a 629 6.5 . Very accurate and cheap to run. Had to hand them both in due to the British Government banning hand guns. Very good to see you enjoying them.
I had a small stroke last friday and i was worried i would miss your next vid.Thay say what makes ya happy keeps ya goen.I hope we both keep watchen this side of the grass alot longer.Take care.
@kickok45 I liked this video and pistol so much I searched and found one made in 1959 with a 7 3/8" barrel. The bluing is in excellent condition and the grips are in great condition considering the age. The trigger is simply amazing. Thanks for all your videos.
"There's a pot hanging on top of that post, what's he doing there?" hahaha I love how shooting is just so much for you! And how much fun you make it for all of us. Great videos.
Yeah, we need an "Encore" playlist, don't we? :-) Actually, stay tuned. If you listened to the most recent Radio Show, you'd know something about this subject. :-)
Wow, you make shooting look so easy. I hope everyone watching can appreciate that hitting a 12oz. soda can from 60 yards with a pistol is not easy. Heck, for us mere mortals, it's even hard to do with a rifle.
Hickok45's been shooting on this same range since the 80's and look how clean it is. If we the public kept our own public ranges this clean we would still have places to shoot...wouldn't we? But instead we have Johnny Rambos who go out once a year and trash every place they go with appliances and tons of trash ruining the areas for the minority of us who go frequently and are responsible. Thanks for letting me vent. Nice range Hickok45.
Hey Hickok, i've been watching your channel for the past few years and tuning in every week has become a ritual of sorts, lol. Thanks for motivating me to be a better shot!
Those are truly great target pistols a friend of mine has one his father gave him , has a nice wooden case and three different slides long, med ,and short ! Really beautiful !
Hickok, I would love to see you and 22Plinkster in a little long distance competition using that model 41. You really impressed me today. That was some incredible accuracy.

I've owned many 22 pistols and yes the mdl 41 is very accurate but I have to admit that the High Standard Trophymatic was more accurate when they were made in Connecticut. On sandbag rest it shot almost hole through hole with Federal High Velocity ammo. Of course todays ammo isn't up to par as it used to be but CCI is also great ammo to shoot.
@@robspear03 Dunno about that. I own a PC model 41, an early 2000s buckmark, a 22/45 mark 3 late 90s, a new mark iv and a volquartsen scorpion(7"). The 41 performs more around the level of the volquartsen with the right ammo in my testing...the rugers and buckmark dont, maybe with alot of aftermarket parts replacements and some gunsmithing/trigger job but at that point you might as well just buy a ready built target/speed gun like a volquartsen...or if your more a classical guy...just get the 41, you wont be sorry.
I'll probably leave that to 22Plinkster and the trick shooters of the world. My favorite "trick" is to just get in as much shooting as I can while I'm on this side of the grass. :-)

Ahh now I see where the 622 came from. This pistol looks great. What compares now? Certainly not the p22, sr22 buckmark......etc. Bring back these badasses.
Hi hickok my dad had a model 41 but in nickel ,it was great but after that horrifying day at Dunblane and we had to give up all the handguns in the uk . keep up the good work ,maybe a 10 bore vid or big shotgun ??

The S&W Model 41 is the finest .22 pistol I have ever shot or owned! Thank you for the video Hickok.

It is genuinely a high point in my week when a new hickok45 video comes along! I cannot say how impressed I am with both his knowledge and his shooting. Just incredible.
I would definitely not have it if it cost that much back in the late '80s. Should have bought ten of them!
Glad you mentioned the fact that those are CCIs you were shooting.
My S&W 41 won't run on cheap bulk-pack ammo.
love watching this guys videos- such a character- he never spends too much time talking without going "let's shoot this a little bang bang bang!"
Shooting legend Jim Clark actually won a gold inlaid Smith & Wesson Model 41 after winning the National Pistol Championship in 1958, pretty sweet gun!

Hi I have a question for you about 6.5x55 if I reload my own brass can I use it in my 223 ? Thank you
I can afford one but I like my Ruger I got a good deal on and it shoots just as close as I need to hit a head shot.
They are right handed guns so unless it was under $400 I will not need it
The new ones are $1600 dollars so it’s a good target pistol if you can afford the price and size and are right handed.

Thanks Hickok45, you sold me.I'll order mine tomorrow.
I hope you never get tired of doing these videos! I always watch your new videos before others.
I really enjoy the .22 videos. With ammo prices these days, the .22 always goes with me to the range for some plinkin!

The model 41 5 inch or 7 inch barrel version is one of the nicest looking handguns I've ever seen
Best trigger on a production gun you will ever press .
Have you seen the model with the compensator? The only issue with the Model 41 is that it is picky when it comes to ammo.

the war. In 1952 the pistol was reintroduced under license by
Hämmerli-Walther. In 1957 Smith & Wesson introduced the Model 41,
based on the Olympia-Pistole"
Yeah, I understand that. Plinking with a rimfire isn't quite the same as blowing something away with 00 buck/.308. All good fun!
Hard to beat a S&W 41, especially one with the fun switch!
Gorgeous pistol. Wish I could afford one!!
Man, what a beautiful gun. I have not been aware of this one. Damn, now there is another one on my list.
It may be a tac driver but you are one hell of a shot.
