Thank you for your opinions and feedback :)
We need a new review for the Hi-X65
The more reviews that I see on these headphones, the more I'm convinced that I'm going to buy them! Thank you for a great review from a very respected panel!
My go to music when I get new headphones or speakers is, Dire Straights " Brothers in Arms " album. That album ( to me is so well done) comes to mind whenever I get the new headphones home I get that excitement of opening Christmas presents when I was a child and already I'm getting that feeling because of what I've heard from other and you guys have sold me and I will be ordering a pair shortly after I finish this comment, great video and I hit the like and subscribe. Have a great day and thanks.
Always a go-to for sound-checks that album is!
Ah crap. I'm probably gonna have to try these out now, haha! Still on that epic quest of the most neutral/balanced closed-back headphones for VO monitoring. Mara included. Thanks guys for all of your insight!
Yeah, it's a search that really ends with your ears. Until you learn to trust how "it sounds" in the cans you are wearing, it doesn't matter what they cost or how they are tuned. Still prefer my ATH-M40x to almost anything, using aftermarket earpads with velour that are softer and thicker than stock (I have them listed at homevostudionow.com)
@@GeorgeTheTech Totally! I've learned the flavor and what to expect from the popular pairs like M50x's, 7506 (yuck), and HD 280's. I use Sonarworks headphone correction to flatten them all out. But I can't run Sonarworks when I live monitor while I perform. So, my search for the flattest sounding closed back continues!
@@JordanReynolds I Use the Austrian..and have ploughed through lots of headphones..My love is for the Austrian..so clear and you catch all screwed frequencies and i can say that i love them..Worn them 8-10 hour shifts..mostly 6 hrs is fine.
Okay Jordan..
Hi there , by any chance did you hear Audio Technica ATH M70X before ?
someone told me this Hi X55 is similarly tuned .
No, but I REALLY liked the ATH-R70x in a brief test, their open-backed cans.
@@GeorgeTheTech thank you for your information .
Late to the party but i used ATH M70X for a couple of years. Recently bought a pair of HI X15's and have to say haven't picked up the ATH's since.
Waste Chester HA! Great show George!
Thanks for poppin' by, Scott! Guys, Subscribe Scott's UA-cam Channel if you want to be a live streaming and UA-cam ninja!
Paul and Andrew were nice enough to shoot their video on iPhones so we didn't use the Zoom quality video, and they captured their studio signal chains as well. I manually synced their video and separately recorded audio. I know I could have done a more efficient process, but I wanted to maintain as much audio/video quality as possible.
You guys should try the new Avantone Planar BEATS EM ALL!!!!! I have owned very expensive Sennheiser, and Hifiman Ananda and the Avantone was much better!
Have 'em send us a set to test!
Love your channels 🖐😄💓

Thanks for the reviw!! I´d love to know the name of that guy who has 3d sound in his website. Sorry I´m spanish and my english is not perfect so i didn´t understand the name very well...
Jeff Silverman does those mixes
@@GeorgeTheTech Thanks a lot!!!
Any recommendations regarding whether you would mix music for these?
I tried critically listening to a mix with a group (most of who were using BeyerDynamic headphone monitors)... but I could NOT hear the lows until I switched headphones.
I haven't mixed anything in years...
@@GeorgeTheTech More than fair. Thank you so very much for taking the time to respond.
Lol these headphones are far from flat. These are not for audiophiles phones but are purely for mixing. You need a EQ curve to use them for mixing, that's the truth.
I picked up a set knowing their follies as they on sale with the impending Hi-X65 release and I needed some closed backs for mixing. If anybody calls the Hi-X55 flat they a shills and not to be trusted and are just putting out a review for free set of cans.
But they are really really nice to wear.
It's seems the early reports of the EQ curves for the upcoming openback Hi-X65's are fairly flat which is good to see.
They may "sound flat' to you after using more hyped headphones, but agree they are not flat (and no headphone truly is).
I tested a pair of Hi-X55 and thought they were broken. Nope, even with another pair they just sound so unimaginably bad. Such a bad mid dip that instruments disappear on a recording. I can't name anything worse.
What kind of source and amplifier have you used to try the headphones?
@@ohordinaryhomebody6677 A Chord Mojo and a Pro-Ject S2 Box something something. I can never remember the names of those. I doubt thise had anything to do with it.
@@hartyewh1 thanks for the feedback
They do have a "unique" EQ curve, not to my taste.
high excursion on that design is a hoax
you need free edge microfiber like in the foster speakers
Explain. Please.
