Thank you to everyone who took the time to enter, and a big congrats to Michael P. on winning this amazing giveaway!
You always know when I’m looking for cans !!! Thanks Warren.
Haha indeed!
Just ordered one today. Thank you again :)
HI Warren, great content as usual, i love the cover songs you guys do, Amazing, Have a great day, all the best.
Thanks so much!
Right On Warren! 👍
Thanks Joe!
Forget the gear, I'm loving Warren's vocals!!!!
You're very kind!!
man i love this channel!!!!
Thanks ever so much!
I have a pair of these -- I'm listening to this video on them. I'd say for me they are very precise sounding. True lowend (not hyped), midrange detail is amazing and the topend is sweet. They're my go to now for mixing, referencing, etc.
Thanks for the review 👍 The Austrian Audio Hi-X65 is an intriguing open-back headphone that I have considered to use, in a unique way, as reference in my upcoming test tracks episodes comparing binaural audio vs Dolby Atmos on my Hi-Reality Sensorium channel 🙂
Glad I could help! Thanks ever so much!
I had a Pioneer SE-M290 for 14 years that recently broke. They are no longer available anywhere, but I got lucky to find a pair used. I love these headphones! So good considering their super low price. I also own a pair of AKG K-271 mkII, which are good exclusively for mixing, and I always use them with the Sonarworks Reference enabled, but not as comfortable and versatile as the Pioneer.
Vary delightful review.
Thanks ever so much
Thanks for the review man! I stumbled across these looking at some AKG can - I now want a pair of these - I know they're going to be no substitute for an actual studio but do you think I could reliably mix electronic music (House/Tech House etc etc) on these and be able to send a decent mixdown off for mastering? I'm using an Audient ID44 interface btw if that makes any difference - Thanks again. Much appreciated
Drag, didn’t know about contest :). Thx for review so for you a solid yes for mixing and mastering? Have you demoed the Verum planar phones, if so, did you have a preference ?
Nice! Technology is amazing 👏
Thanks ever so much for sharing
finally... a full song by Mr. Warren Huart!
wonderful, and I hear what the mics are doing. success sure will keep growing.
Thanks ever so much
Im thinking about getting a pair,warren..thanks!
Fantastic Shams!
Thanks for the video..Beyer Dynamic for me but I'll check these out
Thanks ever so much
I guess I will reconsider my headphone upgrade. Thank you so much for the idea. I may infact safe a little money in the process.
Thanks for sharing
Have been using Philips Fidelio X2HR lately, really like them.
Thanks ever so much for sharing
AKG is now an empty shell, run by suits.
Austrian Audio is the new kid on the block with the right soul, run by engineers.
Just talked with a local music equipment store two days ago to test/buy a Hi-X65. The should get a few soon, but they are sold fast. Not lying around in the shelf there. The performance for the price seems to be outstanding. Everything on these headphones shouts quality, quality, quality.
Wondering how these compare to the AKG K712 Pro's considering both headphones have been designed by the same team for two different companies from my understanding.
Hi @Produce Like A Pro. Could you share what's the Sly and Robbie song you are referring to around 10:10?
You are indefatigable !!!!! How do you produce so much impeccable content. Do you have a Dorian Gray portrait hanging in a vault in Dorchester ???????? Do tellllllll
Haha thanks ever so much Gilbert! You're too kind!
Thx for the review! Maybe you have time to review the Audix A-150 😌
Marvellous idea!
For me just starting out. Are these a good choice to mix and produce electronic music with?
What are your favourite headphones? What do you use and why do you love them?
I use Focal Spirit Professionals. Have you tried them Warren?
Austrian Audio HI-X55
Beyerdynamic DT-100
Sennheiser HD 280 Pro, that's all I know
Audio Technica Anniversary Edition 👍
Bravo!!!
Thanks ever so much
Great stuff Warren. Man I'm still struggling to get that big, fat, all encompassing bass sound like you get.
It’s takes some work, minor sculpting
I use Sennheisers HD650 , but plan to buy HD800s or something from Audeze in the future :) Greetings from Russia!
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Everybody 🖐🖐 this master piece is it suitable for ASMR Recording Purpose use ?? .... Million Thanks for all your advice 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hello Warren , it would be absolutely wonderful to see you break down and talk about the Aerosmith song "What Could've Been Love" that you worked on back in 2011/12, its an unsung GEM of a song from an emotional and songwriting standpoint , and the guitar layering on that is some of the best ever ! Your Yamaha sounds out of the world , thanks ever so much !! That song sounds larger than LIFE !!
That's a great idea
Marvellous idea!!
@@darlenesheffield9835 thanks!! Maybe I’ll try it soon
Hey Warren, great video. I understand the differences you mentioned between the X55 and X65. But, given a choice between the two for mix translation, which one would you choose ? Many thanks.
Definitely the X-65. I use the 55's as an additional headphone to check my mixes, however the 65's would be what I could use all the time.
@@Producelikeapro Thank you for your reply Warren :) Cheers!
@@2020shredfest1980 you're very welcome!
I don't know Mary, personally, but I adore her work.
Marvellous!
I have Audio -Technica ATH-M50 X & from one year i have also Austrian Audio Hi -X-55 ...I use both of them with Sonarworks ...Perfect !
Thanks ever so much for sharing
What profile are you using with the 55's? Because they only have the 50's calibrated at the moment. I'm waiting for them to add the 55's. I bug them daily on social
@@chriswhite7636 For the moment i use the profile of Hi,-X50...You have right ! ...I waite the upgrade !
@@chriswhite7636 good question!
@@bucurgabriel6319 great answer!
austrian audio hi-x65 vs HD600 the HD600 are neutral and with little Eq on Sonaworks they sound "perfect" (nothing is to much and I do nothing missing) with the austrian audio hi-x65 an sonaworks they are "perect plus" all sound so nice.
Hey Warren,
Sorry random question here.
When you are playing your own songs or ones you have produced/worked on in your video's, have you ever had some random company come in with a copyright claim, strike or take down?
How do you deal with some of the chancers here on UA-cam, and how does it feel that someone tries to make money off your own hard work?
Yes, I've had all of those things! I just fight them, it's a lot of work, however, it's just what you do to run a business. I know if I made rant videos about it every week that might help my numbers, haha, however we are not into spreading negativity! Fighting copyright stuff is just parvfor the course and the price of doing business!
Are there any in-ears suitable for mixing?
That sounds incredibly fine, I´d love to have good headphones I can really mix with...
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing
Hi Warren, which Sly & Robbie track are you referring to? I work in the reggae genre, so obviously this reference caught my attention.
Everything Sly and Robbie is amazing!! I will have to dohble check I’m at a string session at the moment
I know headphones are a controversial personal subject but for an accurate balance they should a flat balance over most
of the freq. range when mixing
I would like to hear you honest opinion about neumann ndh 30 headphones.😎 They are very popular now.
I'm a huge fan of around the ear open back phones like Sennheiser and Beyerdynamics. Can't really plug them into your iPhone and expect anything good out of them though - you really need a solid headphone amp for these high-Z phones.
Thanks ever so much for sharing!
hi-x65s are very low impedance of only 25 Ω though, no problem running these from iphones and laptops
Great vid….Thoughts on the Embody software of your room and would these headphones benefit?
I should have checked that out!! Thanks for the reminder
Don’t thank me….I’m an academy member I should be thanking you weekly ;)
@@clivin5150 haha you're too kind!
hey Warren! whats the name of the track and artist on the minute 3:51? that says "whiskey". Love how it sounds!! Grate video as always! thanks
That’s our friend Steve Maggiora! The multitracks are in the Academy. Steve is the key I hard player and background singer for Toto, solo and his band Robert Jon and The Wreck
@@Producelikeapro Amazing!! Thanks for the info!
It would be great and really enlightening if you could do a blind shootout with these and few other similarly priced rivals like the DT 1990's. Someone could place them randomly on your head from behind and you could do a quick mix of something relatively challenging accompanied by a blow by blow appraisal of what you're actually getting from each pair of phones. At the end the resulting mixes could be evaluated to see if they reveal anything about the respective headphones. I've just bought a pair of 1990's to replace my old beat up 770's and as always happens and soon as you buy something you can't stop seeing lots of reviews telling you not to buy that product. It would be really nice to see someone actually put half a dozen of these phones through a real world test and see what the results reveal. 😎
I’ve reviewed the 1990’s and frankly I love them! Very detailed! I grew up on NS10’s and DT100’s, so I’m used to aggressive midrange. Modern headphones are a lot less aggressive in the mids and have extended lows. If you’re starting out it makes perfect sense to get as high end as you can and learn to mix with a fuller range
How is Hi-X65 compare to DT1990 ?
Thanks for the video, quite useful! What sort of mixing app would you recommend, for starters of course?
Do you mean DAW? Thanks
@@Producelikeapro I have been doing it the cheapest way, just a midrange mic and GarageBand, no mixing at all, just exploring the possibilities of decent recording and a bit of volume and treble and compression twitching here and there. I’m trying to upgrade a few demos to give them that extra quality and make them more listenable!
@@enriquesoto6534 Garageband does have some basic tools. Definitely the better it's recorded the easier it is to mix!
@@Producelikeapro thank you so very kindly!
@@enriquesoto6534 you’re very welcome
Must say it once again: the intro music is short, but it sounds perfect.
Well, I'm Austrian, but they are a bit too expensive for me. :-(
Thanks ever so much!
I'm an AKG 712 dude. Removed the membrane on the bassports though. I'm really interested in listening to these ones myself
oh and I like them because of their wide soundstage, airy top end, their (with this little mod) deep bass extansion, their transient reproduction and the fact, that I don't hear much of a difference to my LSR 305's on stands 1 feet away from the wall. They just go well with each other.
@@troeteimarsch thanks ever so much for sharing!
@@troeteimarsch that’s very cool information
It was highly enjoyable! Especially that whole last half❣️❣️
Thanks Audrey!
Not sure I have heard you sing before. As impressive as the rest of your abilities
You're very kind!
So glad you did these headphones today, mine will arrive tomorrow, I currently use AKG K7xx from Massdrop , using my MacBook Air M1 I don’t have real monitors set up yet, I currently run headphones right out the laptop, I think I need a headphone amp, for portable use could you recommend any reasonable priced ones as this may only be a temporary/part time solution?
That's an excellent question! I was recently recommended an amazing headphone amp, I will go back and check what it was.
For portable use, I like my Apogee Groove...but I'm sure there are many others
Thanks and I’ve had this mentioned anyone use one? AudioQuest Dragonfly Cobalt
Thanks for sharing
I don’t the AudioQuest I will look online and see if I can get a good idea of what is good
I Use Audeze LCD-2C For About Two Years Now With A RME ADI-2 Pro Fs R
Great headphones! I have a pair and like them for double checking mixes!
Me, too! But Sonarworks reports a significant presence peak on them that worries me, considering the price! I had an opinion suggested that they are NOT mixing cans, which bothers me coz that's why I bought them ...
Interesting! I have a couple of friends who swear by them. Growing up in the UK we all used Beyer DT100’s and in the US it was all Sony 7506, neither sound good, but we all knew how our music should sound on them. It’s a complicated discussion. I have the Focal Clear Pro’s and I love listening to music on them! However, I don’t mix on them haha
audio-technica ATH-R70X. Perfect.
Thanks for sharing!
These seem like they would be ideal for my situation. Tiny, odd-angled room that's difficult to sonically temper. Headphones are the way to go for detail work. And flat low end response is a HUGE plus. But the money. Woof. That's alotta bread for a dude with no dough. Still, you haven't steered us wrong yet. Not to my knowledge.
You Rock Bobby! Thanks for sharing!
Are you able to say how those headphones compare sonically with AKG K701s and Sony MDR7506? Thank You!!!
I’m not a fan of either of those headphones. I know both are popular, however growing up in the UK and Europe I learned to love BeyerDynamic headphones
@@Producelikeapro Thank You! I am searching for Headphone Love! I have these - 7506 very comfy but waaaay bright.
AKG K240 comfy but not full range (bought because that’s what we had at a studio I worked at)
Senn HD280PRO meh sound, very uncomfy.
Ollo S4X bought and a friend liked them, I didn’t. He has them now.
AKG K701 comfy but not enough bass. But I’m using these now.
Also have Acustica Sienna, Waves NX and Abbey Road Studio 3 plugins. So far none are “It”.
I’m realizing that I like open back models.
I am interested in the Beyer Dynamics. 990? 770?
I am still searching for Headphone Love…
@@Producelikeapro Warren I’m curious if you prefer the HD400 Pros you reviewed or these? I just bought hd600’s on the way to try out and curious on your thoughts
Great pickin' and grinnin'...and singin' 😆

Is Audio Technica M40x Good for Mixing ? Sir Plz Suggest Me Some Good Headphones Under $100-120
I asked my friend Barry Rudolph that exact question and his opinion is sub $100 Audio Technica is very hard to beat!
@@Producelikeapro Sir is it ok to buy audio technica m40x or not?
@@rabihela9137 definitely, in the lower price range Audio Technica are very good
@@Producelikeapro 💐Thank You Soo Much Sir
You’re very welcome
But if the mid highs are somewhat boosted, how can these cans be good for mixing? Surely I would find my mixes have a lack of those areas when listening on other sources after using these for mixing?
heyho Warren,
my biggest problem with headphones is -
the right ear never hears what the left ear hears and vice versa.
but yes, i also like headphones for placing details or select the right effect.
my favorites are AKG 701 and AKG 812.
cheers
Wonderful Headphones, entered the giveaway, hope to win :)
Thanks ever so much Alexey!
Has the on backwards….
“Pretty comfortable” 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Alles klar, now that I know who these Austrian Audio people are. When I'm ready to replace my old AKG 702s, which is now because they're falling apart, I should consider getting a pair of Hi-X65s...
Vielen Dank! Yes, interesting history, thanks for the wonderful comment
@@Producelikeapro It’s great to see accomplished engineers finding ways to keep doing what they do best and continue to have pride in their trade, not to mention the tools they build for us, despite the fact their previous employers have decided that the high volume/low margin (too often lower quality) business model is a better way to go.
@@jameslewis8227 thanks for your great comment! I appreciate it!

Thanks ever so much for sharing
My 7506s sounded good for this, even caught the footfalls. Fairly neutral sounding
Thanks for sharing Shawn!
Ever tried a single omni mic for an entire band?
Yes! With the right musicians it’s amazing
Headphones are only good at 125db while playing thrash....
Haha if you say so!
Nice Gary Glitter haircut
These headphones are truly garbage. I tried both x65 x55. Both were sent back even tried burning them in still sounded ok at best. Maybe if they cut the price in half I might send them as a gift to someone I don't like. That pretty much sums my experience with AA. Stick to making microphones
What was so bad about a mixing headphone, X65? There meant to be flat and lifeless..
@@FierceLeo. They sounded like my arsehole after eating spicy Indian food 🌝
Mastering headphones, really? If they are legit, I could see every engineer buying these and possibly throwing their monitors away. 😂
Engineers never throw anything away.
