I learned and daily'd a 1999 carbi ZX6R, im 6 foot and 90kg, never uncomfortable. Listening to it scream through gears while teleporting me to wherever I want, makes me literally LOL to my self. For me its just the right amount of power where you can smash through 1st and 2nd and still be at.... Manageable speeds, if you are feeling good smash though 3rd. Unlike anything bigger, 750 or 1000, will send you into another dimension. After hearing a 4 cylinder scream and still ask for more, a twin sounds soulless and boring... I'm hunching over a super sport for as long as my back allows it. I predict by the time my back can't take it I'll be too old for bikes anyway.
There's an incredible array of seating positions that riders find comfortable. What one Rider calls comfortable another considers a torture rack. I think the manufacturers have figured it out now. I liked what Suzuki had done at 600cc with the bandit being a sporty bike, the katana being a sport bike, and the GSXR being a track bike. All three were more capable than public roads provided.
I didn't start riding until I was 40 (mid-life crisis) and my first bike was a Suzuki Bandit 400. A great little bike but you had to rev the nuts off it to get a decent performance and I had difficulty keeping up with the other riders in my group who all rode 600s or 750s so in 2000 I bought a Honda CBR 600. To me it's the perfect compromise. It's fast, relatively light, and I don't find it uncomfortable even in town. My only criticism is that the suspension is a bit stiff if you're riding on anything but smooth tarmac. I ride a lot in the mountains of southern Spain and some of those B roads can be full of bumps and potholes ☹️
I'm 41 looking to get my first bike. Was looking at 2008-2010 Kawasaki ZX10Rs but this video is convincing me that a 600 is maybe not a bad idea. 30 min on a 2000 something CBR total experience😂. But decades squidding on ATVs and jetskis. Figure some of that skill has to apply. I hope.
I bought a 2000 Suzuki bandit 600 for my first bike a little over two months ago and although I love it..... I bought a bandit 1200 like three days ago. 😅
I wanted to just try 600's and 5 years later still stuck on it. I commute on it 2-3 times a week. Recently I had an opportunity to buy a ZX10 but I turned it down for a 05' R6.
I started last year (im 30 now) on a R6 RJ03... it was much work to learn the way its meant to be driven with the position and all without and electronics or something. But I still have this bike and I love and enjoy it without any accidents, whaddya think?
The zx6r is better than the r6 and cbr on the street. But you should probably give them a daytona 675 as a graduation present. Its so light they might just be able to carry it home
All depends on what you want. I think the cb1000r is an awesome bike. The new one has 143 horsepower and is a beast (not the “hypernaked” that’s the current rage).
Im into the Duke 790. Yes, im a brand new rider and technicqlly i need to find a first bike thats less powerful, but i feel like ill outgrow it wayyyy to fast, so i guess ill just go for a mid-tear. Besides, Duke 790 comes with a ton of safety features and perks.
Okay, so go price out new wheels and tires for that baby. I went with the kawi because everything for the 390 duke was a lot more expensive I bought a KLX 300SM in 2021 and love it. About to buy something new at the end of the year... Gotta decide on if I want the 400RR or a 600cc something
@@azush1055 I like the idea of a mini 4 cyl, and want to support more bikes like that being built. With that said, once I feel a 600 I will probably change my mind, but I still want the 400rr
So it all makes sense now, correct me if i’m wrong. since the 650 is a street version of a 600….that Would that mean a 400 requiring high rpm’s is a beginner track bike. Meaning the kawi 500 actually a 451 is really a 400 reconfigured for the street? I have a friend who has a turbo R6 who loves doing squid things. He has a philosophy about it though. Never in traffic, no busy streets, and away from anyone who could possibly get caught up in his shenanigans. He was involved in an accident through no fault of his own, but the other party was seriously injured. It ate at him for years. After that accident his thought process changed when it comes to when and where to pull dank nooners.
@@olumarkfatungase7556 actually squidding can be safer, because it not only allows people to build up their skills in a real world environment, but also keeps them in the moment and alert to everything going on around them. You’re much less likely to die from a car swerving into your lane if you’re already moving around. When you ride “safe” your reactions to changes can be slower, and it takes more time for you to start avoiding any problems. The channel Squidtips has some great content on it, I highly recommend!

Can you do a video comparing the CB650R and CB750? The 750 is torquier and has more tech but the CB650R looks cooler, has that sweet inline 4 and is just a cooler motorcycle in my opinion. Both make similar power and are similarly priced (depending on the market). Would be interesting to see them compared.

19 yo european, bought an r6 as a second bike. really not that damgerous as said if u have good risk managment. riding position after riding exclusivelly naked bikes is much more demanding but not that uncomfortable (173cm and 77kg)
So people always complain about torque on a 600cc 4 cylinder, but my f4i feels like it has gobs of torque compared to my 250cc crfL rally 🤷♂️. I think it’s a pretty weak argument. But that’s just my two cents
It seems to be THE 600 right now for the street. No doubt Kawasaki is “stretching their wings” with more new bikes and tech than anyone else right now. From what I hear, as long as it’s what you want, it performs exactly as advertised.
Looks the same as last years model except it has the display from the ZX-4rr and instead of stainless/chrome exhaust they made it black. That's not really much of a change (especailly since many people change the exhaust anyways). They also LOST 12 HP compared to the 2023 model, so... Yeah, apparently my older 2023 model will still win in a race.
Would I need a separate phone case while riding for the mounts? I use the apple case with apple wallet attachment that I would put inside a bag. New to riding and learning things before getting one
Just passed my MSF course last weekend. I’m stuck between a ninja 400 and a zx6r as a first bike. On the one hand i feel I could learn a lot from a 400 but would most likely get rid of it for a zx6r down the line so on the other hand my thinking is just get the zx6r to learn and use until the day it dies. I personally feel a 600 is all I’ll ever need so why not start there and stay there? Any input would be appreciated.
Honestly I’m stuck right where you are. I feel like you’ll end up getting the 600 down the line so why not just start of there? But I’ve gotten various and majority of comments do say the 400-450 is the place to start at. I’m still debating myself.
It's a good call going with the smaller bike first. You will learn much more about riding by progressing your skills on that, then by babying a bigger bike that scares you. To be clear, a 600cc sport bike should scare you, else you're going to get hurt lol Also, there's no such thing as a forever motorcycle ;)

Where are the 750cc and 800cc bikes?
I got a gixxer 600 k7 last month yammie. Best decision of my life
The more I see the Aprilia rs660 the more I know it doesn't make sense for me to get one and the more I want one. I AM going to get one...
Same 😢😂
Get a triumph 765 and thank me later. Same same, but better. Same spicy branding, same great handling, better sounds. Fizz factor
@@MikePruszkowski I like everything you just said. I'll look into it
I was interested but then saw the price. It's same as liter class where I live.
@@ritwik0get a litre bike then👍👍👍👍👍
Want track performance with street ergos? Get a naked bike like a Street Triple. A lot of sportbikes have a naked counterpart. Lowered pegs, dirt bike handlebars and tuned for torque on the low and mid range.
ew gross
I hope I can have bikes like these soon. So far, I'm happy with my 125cc bike. It can bring me wherever I want
My first bike was a 600, 3 months later I got a triumph 1050 ST triple. I ride nearly everyday and although I’m glad my first bike was a sport bike, I quickly learned most of what you mentioned and stepped up to something that feels more sophisticated but looks like a street bike, cuz ya know, chicks bruh
… japalese in-line four. Actually very informative, going to watch practice Friday I’ll try to stop by and say hi.
I got my AMA card in the 90s on a ZX 6R and all honestly on a track and I like it 600 because the front tire likes stay on the ground without manipulation. You know it just doesn’t lift up under its own power. It will, but it won’t. But on the street it’s useless it vibrates it’s uncomfortable, it’s poop
6:40 - I agree, who doesn't like nice longer strokes 😄
Just got my first street bike a month ago, R6…..🤘🏻🤘🏻
I'm starting with a honda 300l dual sport. The next bike I'm looking at is a MT-07!
first real motorbike for me is mt07 i love it so much some tasteful mods cant wait to upgrade to an mt10 in a couple years all that mid range is really what makes a fun streetbike for me
Next year i want to buy a 2011 yamaha r6. Ive been riding for nearly two years and i reckon after another year on the road i will happily move up to the higher displacement. Thanks for this video yammie i always love the valuable information with good jokes in between haha
I got a Yamaha FZ-6R as my first bike. As a sport/touring bike, it's more comfortable than a full-on sport bike but still makes plenty of power when you open it up
I learned and daily'd a 1999 carbi ZX6R, im 6 foot and 90kg, never uncomfortable.
Just bought 7:18 a gsxr 600 as my first bike last week.. im already taking it down the block an to the store no problems at all
All these reasons are why the naked 650s are as popular as they are. More comfortable, more torque available down low and they just look good
5:23 you know Quad Lock is just as good. Choose wisely peeps 💪🏽
New rider here, you post this just as I’m shopping for my first. Awesome vid brother
What type of bikes are you looking into?
I started on a ZXR250, so a 600 feels spacious and luxurious and high torque to me 🤣
There's an incredible array of seating positions that riders find comfortable.
I hope.
Gladly people iv seen In North Carolina have sport bikes :)
Just bought my first bike yesterday, 2001 GSXR-600 11,000 original miles
I bought a 2000 Suzuki bandit 600 for my first bike a little over two months ago and although I love it..... I bought a bandit 1200 like three days ago. 😅
I think this was a good video to include the Ducati supersport 950
Let's not forget that sweet 650cc Kawasaki's engine also powers the sweet Vulcan S and the Versys... great engine all around.
I wanted to just try 600's and 5 years later still stuck on it. I commute on it 2-3 times a week. Recently I had an opportunity to buy a ZX10 but I turned it down for a 05' R6.
W the r6 is legendary
Passed my msf few weeks ago, gonna go get me a zx6r to learn soon
Thank you lord and papa yam for giving us more of the satisfying 600cc information
The R6 will be mine yammie, you’ll never stop me
Can you do “next motorcycle after 600cc”
thinking about getting rid of my 2015 cb1000r for a new Kawasaki ZX6R. thoughts/concerns? right and wrong answers are acceptable.
Good choice
You can buy lots of monster energy drinks with the money you’ll save.
All depends on what you want. I think the cb1000r is an awesome bike. The new one has 143 horsepower and is a beast (not the “hypernaked” that’s the current rage).
No Yammie, I just got the notification and love your content is why I watched todays vid! Keep it up bud!!
I went with the kawi because everything for the 390 duke was a lot more expensive
I bought a KLX 300SM in 2021 and love it. About to buy something new at the end of the year... Gotta decide on if I want the 400RR or a 600cc something
@@CurrentlyBlazed get a 600, why get a 400rr over a 600 super sport.
mid-tear 😅
You have a great chance of outgrowing your life if 790 is your starter bike.
@@azush1055 I like the idea of a mini 4 cyl, and want to support more bikes like that being built. With that said, once I feel a 600 I will probably change my mind, but I still want the 400rr
Been waiting for this video for quite a while thanks yam
That Aprilia RS660 seems to hit the sweet spot for what I'm looking for but a 4 banger sounds nice
So it all makes sense now, correct me if i’m wrong. since the 650 is a street version of a 600….that Would that mean a 400 requiring high rpm’s is a beginner track bike. Meaning the kawi 500 actually a 451 is really a 400 reconfigured for the street? Because going to the gym on 400 means you gotta be hitting the rev limit between stop lights to really get that what it’s built for.
So kawi 500 keeps you out of Kyle Zone for non track squids.
Yes No?
The insurance rates on a Kawasaki ZX6R is about $2000 for me. The BMW S1000RR is about $1300.
One would think it would be the other way around, that's just insane, must be the squid tax kicking in.
@@JoseLgamer05 I believe the Kawasaki ZX6R is the most crashed motorcycle in the US. For male riders in their 20's, the ZX6R is something like 4 to 6 thousand dollars per year.
@@langhamp8912 so squid tax it is, 6000$ a year is just insane an entire bike’s worth of money just for insurance, honestly surprised it isn’t the gxsr600, must not be too far off
@@JoseLgamer05 I didn't look at the GSXR600 but I did look at the GSXR1000. THAT bike came to $2500.
A very close relative to the GSXR1000 is the GSXS1000F which I ended up buying. $278 for full coverage, and I ended up buying uninsured and medical for it. $400/year. The GSXS1000 is one of the least crashed bikes in the US but its performance is still absolutely bonkers.
I’m 24 and pay $57 for a 2023 zx6r full coverage through progressive
My RS 660 is the perfect blend. In an ideal world, I'd be able to get an inline four in it and do some funny wacky shit. I don't mind the feel of gutless at lower end RPMs, but I love the comfortable seating position.
I watch your videos and you feel like the responsible uncle I need Lol.
2024 ZX6R rips a low 10 second quarter box stock, almost a full second faster than CBR 600. ZX6R is the king of the class!😎
So the first real motorcycle i bought was a DRZ 400 within a year i was upgrading to a 675 street triple because I wanted a 3 cylinder to get something not everyone else had. Over the years I've had suzukis, Hondas, BMWs & even a Harley here & there. But I've always wondered how the Buell lightnings are. I see them for cheap on CL & market place & am tempted to pick one up unless they are trash.
If you can find one now get an FZ6 fantastic bike for the road
i for one don't like the v-twin sound so one of the main factors when i bought my first bike was finding a 4 cylnder naked which was the gsx-s750
So get this, my 22yr old kid rides a 07 gsxr600, my late 50’s Dad rides an 08 gsxr600……..and I ride a 23 G310GS 😂🤦🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
That said, my next bike will be an rs660 🤘🏻
My mate just picked up a brand new s1000rr, which means I need a new bike from the sv, thinking either a ducati v2 or the rs660, or an mv agusta because I love them 😂
Only real downfall to 600cc is the riding position and comfortability.. but for the most part they all perform great for what they are
I did my MSF course, got my endorsement, and then proceded to drop a CBR600rr a couple rides later :(
who knew a 600 cant turn as tight as a grom....
😀
happened to my first bike - a 636. happens to the best of us
Squidding isn’t dangerous, squidding stupidly is.
Squidding and stupid are synonymous
@@olumarkfatungase7556 actually squidding can be safer, because it not only allows people to build up their skills in a real world environment, but also keeps them in the moment and alert to everything going on around them. You’re much less likely to die from a car swerving into your lane if you’re already moving around. When you ride “safe” your reactions to changes can be slower, and it takes more time for you to start avoiding any problems. The channel Squidtips has some great content on it, I highly recommend!
@@olumarkfatungase7556 nah, that guy has a point. They are different.
@@thegamingalex3947Squidding is by definition riding stupidly
i was going with ninja 400 or the R3 and i know im quite a nervous person overall but will that stop me from buying a 600cc? NO! Will I be scared and take it slow the first couple of weeks? YES! With that said, I can not wait for my R7 even though im beyond scared
If you are a new rider id get a RS 125 2 stroke like an aprillia . The power band is very similar to the 600cc. BUT 600 is way faster
I just got an r6 as my third bike in my second summer of riding. Terrible decision honestly, I should have got an r3 or mt07. Going wide open is addicting
What happened to the 1st and 2nd ones?
Well friend has r6 i have mt09 and personally if you don't plan on going on a track every weekend take 900 cc naked bike
i know that 600 feel it was most of my life of riding XD
19 yo european, bought an r6 as a second bike. really not that damgerous as said if u have good risk managment. riding position after riding exclusivelly naked bikes is much more demanding but not that uncomfortable (173cm and 77kg)
@ 13:20 they will have to buy used 2014 datyona 675R's instead 👍
its only a 1k difference between a new 600 and 750, 100% worth the extra grand
9:05 love me a good Japalese Inline 4
So people always complain about torque on a 600cc 4 cylinder, but my f4i feels like it has gobs of torque compared to my 250cc crfL rally 🤷♂️. I think it’s a pretty weak argument. But that’s just my two cents
I've been watching you guys for a month now and the videos are great 👍. I think that im ready to give up my Surron and get an adult bike.
But I got a gsx600f -96 two weeks ago it'll be fun!!!!
What do you think about the new ZX-6R? Does it deserve whole video?
It seems to be THE 600 right now for the street. No doubt Kawasaki is “stretching their wings” with more new bikes and tech than anyone else right now. From what I hear, as long as it’s what you want, it performs exactly as advertised.
Looks the same as last years model except it has the display from the ZX-4rr and instead of stainless/chrome exhaust they made it black. That's not really much of a change (especailly since many people change the exhaust anyways). They also LOST 12 HP compared to the 2023 model, so... Yeah, apparently my older 2023 model will still win in a race.
@@jakegarrett8109the front end has completely changed for 2024

Me with a sv650 🥲
I recently sat on the 2023 zx6r..
Im starting on a 300 lol..
6 doesnt seem so big anymore.
Hey, I know this might sound dumb, but if you can get an ECU flash to fully unleash a bike. Can you have a bike throttled down even more than factory?
Would I need a separate phone case while riding for the mounts? I use the apple case with apple wallet attachment that I would put inside a bag. New to riding and learning things before getting one
Can you do a gsxr750 review pleeeaaaase
Love my Zx6r
Holy shit the intro absolutely called me out
Just passed my MSF course last weekend.
So get a 500 (; i started on a Gs500f and made the right choice, but moving to an MT07 soon
@@Stranger_x13 I’ve decided to go with the 400 and when I’m ready and comfortable make the jump to the zx6r
It's a good call going with the smaller bike first. You will learn much more about riding by progressing your skills on that, then by babying a bigger bike that scares you. To be clear, a 600cc sport bike should scare you, else you're going to get hurt lol
Also, there's no such thing as a forever motorcycle ;)
You need to add a video on the Honda 900rr
Aint no way. I stopped myself from clicking this video for 18h since it was uploaded cause I felt like it was irresponsible for Yam to post a vid that feels like an enabler for squids, only to falter and watch this video with the “it couldn’t be that bad” mindset
I can only get excited for supersports. I daily a zx6r and wouldn't have it any other way.
Im happy with a gsxs750 or cb/cbr650r or Street triple R 765
Amazing video ❤
Love the look of the Honda CBR650R. Think it's just 🤌😘
I just watched the nerdy bikes vid where yam goes ham on Vulcan and z owners and ouch .. I have both a Vulcan and z 😆
I need to clear up a Vulcan thing tho… we only go 5 below cause we think we’re doing the speed limit or 5 over- but the Speedo is reading high … thus we never understand the mile long line of tailgaters.. 😛
Wasn't the gixxer750 created to answer some of these questions? and might as well throw in the gsx-s750 if we're heading to mt07 territory. have the s750 and it is an I4 joy.
