yeah easiest way, if you start in that order then you don't get wrinkles on the back/side as you move around the shirt.

Black and navy shirts MUST be ironed on the wrong side! Personally I iron all shirts on the wrong side. The texture of the fabric front surface is denatured by constant ironing on the right side.

Ajay Bal do you mean the small pleats? I think if you iron in the order he suggested in the video, the top shoulder panel of the back will get ironed first, then when you eventually get to the larger lower panel, you don't press down on those pleats but just navigate around them with the pointy end of the iron. Treating it like a flat tablecloth will get those creases. So it does need a little more attention...... I don't know if that helped you..

Pathetic how some people criticize the guy for not knowing the parts of the shirt when the guy clearly says "I do not know it" I like the video well done... the guy did not say he was an expert....

So my mom, despite being a formidable business woman, has always pressed my Dad’s shirts. And now that she has cancer and just started chemo, I finally convinced her to hand over the ironing to me, “temporarily.” I’m ill, so she still babies me, and she doesn’t want me to feel beholden to press if I’m having a bad day, but my parents are going to LA for a 40th wedding anniversary trip and I’m going to stockpile clothes for him so I can rely on some of those on bad days. I didn’t want to bother her about what steps to do when (I use a steamer for myself, but Mom prefers Dad to look his best, and to her that means ironing). Thanks for the info, and wish me luck. I manage to make a mess of it every time, and am a sweaty mess myself by the end of it!

Almost right :) You're ironing like left handed. You should work on the other end of the ironing board, it's much easier to set the shirt to the other end.

Brothers, always starch cotton shirts or you will look like a slob. Use light starch for casual shirts and dark colors, and medium or heavy starch for dress and formal shirts. Starch will sometimes accumulate but this is easily remedied simply by washing a shirt before you send it to your laundry.
A shirt that itches is a cheap shirt, starched or unstarched.
Unless you are traveling, do not have your shirts folded since fabrics will wear more quickly along the fold lines. When putting on your tie, slide it under the collar instead of breaking the collar upward--that will reduce wear at the fold.
I have all of my custom-made shirts starched, and they last for many years. Of course, they are made with two-ply, high-count cottons, not cheap one-ply cottons.
Expect to pay at least $200 for 100-count cotton, and as much as $600 for 300-count Sea Island cotton.
When possible, ask your shirtmaker to order enough fabric so that you have some on hand to replace the collar and cuffs. Some of my shirts have lasted ten years with replaced collars and cuffs.
Another way to prolong the life of an expensive custom-made shirt is to always wear an undershirt, since perspiration is corrosive.
One last point: Custom-made shirts use linings that you can't iron by hand, and must be professionally laundered using a "crush," the machine that presses a wet shirt and dries it simultaneously.

"How to ..." implies the "properly," so you don;t need it in the title. It sounds weird because you're trying to avoid the split infinitive thing.
