That's the best, since you are planning your look before putting on the clothes. This won't damage the fabric as well due to the stress of pulling and twisting.
Same. I’m pretty sure all my button-up shirts have a permanent crease in the sleeves from how often I just roll them up on the hangers so I don’t have to bother with it when getting dressed.
I got my first high end manager job last week. Bought a bunch of clothes for my meetings coming up and I realised I had no idea how to roll my sleeves in a professionnal manner. This video was a godsend. Thank you
I recently purchased two long-sleeve shirts. I'm 5-ft 6" and weigh 235 pounds. Using your "Quadruple" method, I must say I achieved a more dapper look. Great video!
Thank you, this been helpful. Also, a tip of mine, you can roll your sleeves before wearing your shirt. With two hands it's much easier and more precise. 4 to 6 rolls are usually enough to get a sharp look.
Having worked at J. Crew as an inventory manager during the the glory days of the 1990s, I can confirm that's how my boys and I wore our dress shirts, even in the stockroom. We always had a little cuff showing, and the display mannequins always had cuff showing, at least in the summer to give that casual vibe.
In the military I learned an interesting roll. Pull your sleeve up to the desired height (inside out) and begin rolling until you hit the cuff. Then fold your cuff over the roll and it looks super professional.
Woah! I really dig the The J. Crew Roll, didin't know about that. I usually do the Quadruple or basic roll depending on the length and call it a day. I also like that thinner roll trick with the basic roll. Thanks for this video, really didn't know I wanted to learn this.
Good for women, too! My go-to top choice, especially for cooler weather, is to wear a pretty print tunic (kimono, cardigan, jacket - whatever you want to call it) over a solid-colored, long-sleeved mock turtleneck pullover. My favorite look is to roll up the sleeves of both shirts together, giving me a solid-colored cuff to contrast with the print tunic's sleeve. I guess it's my trademark style.
My husband was a bartender. He always used an inside roll which ended up with everything on the inside of the sleeve. It looks very neat too and doesn't catch on glasses or other things that spill while he is working.
some shirts also come with buttons and a tab for rolling up your sleeve. typically a piece of fabric inside the sleeve that can attach the outside holding the cuff in place
Thanks for the tips! I have to get out of the habit of doing the twist roll. I start with a full roll, but continue with 1-2 half rolls. You're suggestion of simply doing all full rolls looks much cleaner.
Oh, good this helps. I’m female, but have to buy men’s mediums for my broad shoulders, long arms, and for fabric quality. Even a men’s medium is an inch too short in the sleeves. I tend to alter the waist to fit better. I have a ladies’ large flannel (that I still had to alter the waist), but the sleeves are a really awkward length. Now I know how to roll them up so it’s a little more put together (I chose the above the elbow J. Crew and the triple roll)
Yes, you missed the inside roll. I first saw it in college and began using it. I used it throughout my working career, each and every day. I got into the habit of rolling my sleeves up every day whether I was wearing a suit coat or not. The best part of an inside roll is the sleeves of my suit coat never stuck on the roll. For me it remains the best way to roll up sleeves.
Basic roll for me. When it's too warm/hot I definitely get them up my elbows, so usually ending with a half turn. Otherwise I leave them below the elbow, and some times normal turns, other times with a half turn in the end
I was always doing the triple or quadruple roll even before watching this video. I hate it when the roll sits right at my elbow its really uncomfortable.
Thanks Brock! Hey, could you make a video about face shapes and haircuts/hairstyles? I find really hard to get the right style for me. Love your channel, man!
Thanks for this video. I like seeing the various type of rolls one can employ. However, it is my opinion, and many in my professional circles (FWIW) that rolls should NEVER stop below the elbow.
The one I used for most of my working life was folding the cuff inside the sleeve. It keeps the edge of the cuff from getting dirty and or worn and provides some ventilation.
Thanks for everything man, your content is always amazing 😎 I’m actually watching you from El Salvador, CA! I hope you’re doing okay there with everything that’s going on!
I have a small collection of Robert Graham shirts they’re known for their contrasting inner cuff, and I was wondering how to roll your sleeve up so that the inside of the cuff is still exposed. I have short arms and Robert Graham shirts how long to be folded up, but if I fold it up just once, which is sloppy anyway it looks really ridiculous on me because it hangs below my wrist. So what would you suggest for a decorative?
Carving pumpkins is not much fun but it's a chore that must be done. Like checking a bull for prostate nots, just roll up your sleeves and take off your watch.
YES! I've been doing it that way for decades. Just one roll. Great if you want to show off your watch or bracelet. Better with a stiffer fabric though.
I really needed this. I've been doing wrong for a while and homecoming is in 2 weeks for my school and I want to look to really good for my girl and dress shirts with the sleeves rolled up looks 😩👌
not gonna lie the only one useful for me was the J Crew. hardest to do of the bunch but at the same time looks the best. still gonna give a thumbs up for this vid tho, not useful for me but might be a lifesaver for some dudes out there.
I naturally found that 3 turn and 4 turn works for me. Two turn is just too long of a sleeve, and if I need to use the sink, I just make one of "bad turns" and just fold it all the way to the elbow once.
Thanks for the video, my two cents is I think the sloppy shirt sleeve roll looks more natural, but it's still kinda sloppy like you said, I'm thinking best of both worlds would be some sort of sloppy by design shirt sleeve roll as I'm finding the neat look looks too boring and stiff
I didn't know about the J-Crew Roll. I have a lot of business casual shirts with a decorative cuff and I really wanted a roll that could show that off and add a bit of contrast to the shirt. Thanks for this simple and straightforward tutorial.
Can’t go wrong with solid white! I’d probably avoid rolling the sleeves unless it’s very hot and you take your jacket off. In that case, any roll will do.
I roll my sleeves with the shirt still on the hanger; helps if you're uncoordinated!
That's the best, since you are planning your look before putting on the clothes. This won't damage the fabric as well due to the stress of pulling and twisting.
Same me too do the same..🙃
Same. I’m pretty sure all my button-up shirts have a permanent crease in the sleeves from how often I just roll them up on the hangers so I don’t have to bother with it when getting dressed.
Hmmm. Im going to try this. Thanks.
Uhh, i didn't even think about this before reading this, thx
1:42 is when the sleeve rolling starts.
Thank you
Thanks bro
Thanks g
thanks
Lifesaver.
do we really need a seven and a half minute video to tell us how to roll our up sleeves ? yes we do it turns out, well done!
I started reading your comment and thought, “oh gosh this is going to be a rude troll.” Thank you for proving me wrong, my friend.
Mmmm ❤️ haha 😀

Yes.... yes we do😊

I love the last one. The quadruple roll that has your sleeve look clean, and high up enough that it looks on purpose.
The J Crew roll is my favorite for the contrast in the fabric pattern that creates interests.
In the military I learned an interesting roll. Pull your sleeve up to the desired height (inside out) and begin rolling until you hit the cuff. Then fold your cuff over the roll and it looks super professional.
This is the BEST video I found on rolling up my sleeves. Thank you.
I wonder when Brock was filming he was thinking, “ I never thought I would be showing men how to roll up their sleeves.”
I have a weird job 😂
The Modest Man I hope you will show an ironing video in the future. On a serious note.
I never thought I would EVER WATCH a video on rolling up sleeves. 😂😂
@@steven3379 That’s how you know a good UA-camr. They don’t have to have amazing vids to get noticed it’s the simple ones.

I always do the j- crew roll...its looks really elegant..
3:37 I know this as the French Cuff and like you said it can only really be done with the gauntlet button undone. For me it looks the best.
Great video Brock!! 🙌🏼
Appreciate it!
Thank you so mucu, im going to be heading to prom in 2 hours🎉🎉🎉
How did it go?
Basic roll for me. When it's too warm/hot I definitely get them up my elbows, so usually ending with a half turn. Otherwise I leave them below the elbow, and some times normal turns, other times with a half turn in the end
This haircut suits you man
Some casual shirts now have a latch piece that attaches to a button on the outer sleeve to secure the basic roll. Thoughts on this?
This is a great video. 🤝 Very classy and stylish delivery from you.
Thank you, I learned the hard way to avoid landing on the elbow, bending my arms too much and the folded cuff held on, ended up splitting a sleeve.
This isn't the sleeve rolling video we wanted...it's the sleave rolling video we deserve.
I was always doing the triple or quadruple roll even before watching this video. I hate it when the roll sits right at my elbow its really uncomfortable.
Last 3/4 are awesome 😎

the jcrew one was a life saver for my small arms combined with my shirt with only one cuff button lol
My JHS teacher used the two turn reverse method. Ending just above the wrist, no crease or wrinkles show.
A method I've adapted.
Carving pumpkins is not much fun but it's a chore that must be done. Like checking a bull for prostate nots, just roll up your sleeves and take off your watch.
Would you mind sharing where you got the bracelet from?
I always double roll my cuffs up inside the sleeve so they are nicely tucked with noo unsightly ends sticking out or wrinkles in the roll.
I’ll often roll my sleeve inward. There’s a photo of Johnny Cash in the studio where he did just that, and I thought it looked so interesting.
YES! I've been doing it that way for decades. Just one roll. Great if you want to show off your watch or bracelet. Better with a stiffer fabric though.
The basic roll is the best 😁way for the longsleeves😁

I am here for the roll but now I am more interested in your Rolex is that Rolex datejust in dark rhodium dial with jubble bracelet?,,, I love it❤️
Nicely done!
Should you button the button in between the sleeves when folding the sleeves or leave it unbuttoned
I've struggled with this. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to create and share this useful video of different ways to fold up one's shirt sleeves; much appreciated sir!
Super good timing, thanks for another great vid Brock!
I like to roll my sleeves twice or three times to get me above the elbow. That Kennedy Roll seems difficult!
Awesome tips mate!! Where's the bracelet from though ?? really cool. 👌

Does it work with red shirts?
As a shorter guy I only do half rolls really no matter how high I roll them
Thank you very much sir.
I’m tall and thin, the J. Crew roll above the elbow is nice but always takes more than one try to get it right.
I didn't know about the J-Crew Roll. I have a lot of business casual shirts with a decorative cuff and I really wanted a roll that could show that off and add a bit of contrast to the shirt.
Thanks for this simple and straightforward tutorial.
First one is better 😎
k I will stick with the last 2. Thanks.
What do you recommend for a dress shirt to go to a wedding?
Can’t go wrong with solid white! I’d probably avoid rolling the sleeves unless it’s very hot and you take your jacket off. In that case, any roll will do.
Great tips. Thanks.
thank you so much!!
The Basic Roll, is how I roll!😎
