I bless the Rivers down in Africa.
I will follow you
Clever boy
1:15 that guy isn't dancing, he just wants to get the confetti out of his hair
Or it a case of "head and what?, never heard of it"
Ha ha. He is trying to play off removing the confetti as dancing.
Juan J. Dueñas
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It’s not confetti just a bad case of dandruff
😂😂😂😂😂
What a great cover of a classic song. They have introduced this old 80's song to a group of young people that may have never heard it or would have never given it a chance good job guys.
I was a huuuuge fan of that song 20 years before most of those kiddos were born lol. Okay, 15 years, but whatever.
@@Treebard I see why. I watched the live 1982 performance 1st online, back in the prime of the song. I saw this version after.
Oh, they've heard it - a hundred times or more...
Yes and in return Toto sang one of thejr song , i'll try to recall 😊
Toto looks great here. I’m glad they made a comeback.
Really? I thought this was Aerosmith.
You're both way off, this is Huey Lewis and the News!
No wrong person that's Kurt Cobain
Yo really i thought it was miley cyrus? Jk i really thought it was imagine dragons, obviously this cant be weezer.
Dude it's Green Day. They wrote this song on their hit album Sgt. peppers lonely hearts club band including their other hit song good vibrations. Look I can even see ozzy osbourne playing guitar. Dudes you are way off
Wish I was there. The Emo Night I went to for new years didn't even play one Weezer song.
Yo
Fancy seeing you here.Love your videos.😌
Man, I've always been a huge Weezer fan and have known how amazing they are, but man... This is by far the finest cover of Africa, a very technical song, that I've ever heard. Phenomenal harmonies, and Rivers' voice just gets better and better as he gets older. Unbelievable! I'd love to o hear them cover Rosanna.
What I admire the most is the crowd was engaged. Knew the words..
Well said, not a single phone In sight neither
I wish Weezer played the super bowl halftime
Me too!
It won't happen. Rock bands just don't have the clout anymore. Imagine Dragons, the biggest band in the world right now, might get asked to do it, but they'll have to share the stage with a pop star or stars like Coldplay had to when they played the Super Bowl.
Same, they would be better than Maroon 5.
Yessss!!!
Ya man
Maybe one of the top covers of all time. Vocal ranges and harmonics are incredibly challenging here. Serious respect for this. Well done.
I have a cover band that is #1 cover of Africa i think you might change your mind to
@@blainea385 Let's see/hear it...
@@trainier ua-cam.com/video/u0V3fUpXOl8/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
I was blown away by the woman's voice, hope you enjoy
@@blainea385 Enjoy what? Where's the link?
Rivers will not age!
Right
Brian Bell kills it as always. I hope the Black Album has some powerfull harmonies in there
3:05 is the best moment in this video. It gave me a lot of happiness
me too, man. I'm practicing that move!
2:00 is beautiful tho
these guys are pretty good, they should start a band
Yeah, you know what would be cool? If they name their albums after colours! Imagine how sick that would be.
@@lochlan1788 Black cover was hilarious
LOCHLAN.J.M technically, those albums are named weezer lol
They could call themselves “Toto.”
I loved this song growing up. Weezer has killed it with this cover. I'm glad a whole new generation can enjoy it.
Seriously, this group is really underappreciated by everyone who doesn't listen to them.
I have always loved Weezer and rivers just kills it on vocals these guys are amazing 😉
Weezer totally nail this. Especially the chorus.
It's really impressive for a band to maintain this kind of steady following for this long.
Weezer has recently become one of my favourite bands
Reece Devine Listen to the blue album and Pinkerton
I like your Scott pilgrim profile picture!
Also yea. Listen to the blue album and Pinkerton
As long as you Newbies don't realize that Africa isn't a Weezer song you're good to go!
Roger Jennings yeah I know Africa is by toto and weezer covers it
This is a very hard song to perform let alone make it sound good. 3 part harmonies are killing it. Key signature changes etc... I'm impressed
@@kylemcclanahan2747 verse in b major. Chorus b flat minor. Intro in c sharp minor
The singer did go to Harvard, very driven guy, he can pretty much do anything he puts his mind too.
I love that there are so many younger people totally rocking out to this, who know it
Yessirr
Fantastic vocal harmonies on that chorus! Mad skillz.
Ryan Jones Fantastic backing tracks.
@@geraldhartley I don't reckon they are backing tracks. The harmonies aren't perfect every time and each chorus is different. Could be wrong though. Or maybe these have been polished up in the studio. I don't think so though. Weezer are usually pretty on point whenever I've seen them live.
I'm pretty sure they're not backing tracks. But they're all using pitch correcting technology.
It sounds like they do have a backing track just at a lower volume (especially during last chorus when there are the vocal "solos" like the higher harmony "I bless the rains" part) but the main vocal parts do sound live -- especially for the bass player since it sounds great even though the pitch ain't perfect the mix on his backing vocal is a bit higher than Rivers' main vocal
@@DrRyan Definite proof of keyboard backing tracks at 2:39. Adding some vocal sweetening to the track is very easy from there. They do sound great though.
I bless the rains down in africa...stay healthy everybody.
It's nice seeing the young folks singing along to a song that came out in 1982!
11 10 2023 y’all making me cry and 420 more. Thank you weezer for being here my whole adult life love you insurmountabliny
Song always hits my heart! My godfather from Africa died during Covid, everytime I hear this song I think of him. Loved the song and loved him like my own Dad. Great job Weezer!!❤
It takes absolute talent to be able to do such an iconic song.
Are we just gonna ignore Brian’s vocals? It’s great!
His vocals are so impressive!!!
His vocals always blow me away. He is an INCREDIBLE vocalist!
He may be better than rivers
Brian as a vocalist > Brian as a guitarist
Yes because he's terrible
This is BRILLIANT!! Best cover and phenomenal live performance!!
Such an awesome version! Thank you Weezer.
The drummer is so groovy and in the pocket. As a guitarist that's exactly what I look for. Hes underrated AF
Yes, he's great!
And Jeff Porcaro RIP. 😞
Finally, thanks to TOTO ( and now Weezer) vocals with harmonies and backgrounds. And, live with no tape. No self respecting band in the 60s would ever think of not doing it all live, mistakes and all.
way to go Stephen King, Jean Reno, Bucky Barnes and Michael J. Fox
Thank you Toto and Weezer! It’s the best!
It's great to see today's youth appreciate a classic!
Who, weezer?
hahaahaa...laughed so hard at this comment...
They're all just drunk and high
"I'm ride or die!" "For Weezer!?" lol
roflcopter
A great song people with wide tastes in music enjoy (I'm a metal head and this song is awesome)
I can't describe the emotions swelling up in me when I see these millenials grooving to a song that was part of my life when I was their age - but it completely overwhelms me (in a good way) . . .
good music transcends time, demographics, everything
🙏
Dude between them and Cake they are literally the two coolest bands ive ever seen. Love them to death
Best part of New Year Rockin Eve 2019
LOVE this band almost as much as I love Weird Al. Wish I could afford to see them and Weird Al alive!
Id never imagine before, this Africa by Wezzer, its so amazing...Thank You for the song and the Band
Love this song
He acted like he wasn't sure that particular crowd would dig the cover.. THEY FUCKN LOVED IT! I love it too. Great song from a great band covered by another great band. 🌍
Yess
Ahh pre-pandemic, when we could all sing into each other's faces. Pouring one out for 2019.
This is even better than their studio recording.
Jonathan Lentz You can actually hear Rivers, Brian, and Scott’s voices on this compared to the autotuned mess on the studio version.
I like the Wierd Al sung version better.
They performed this song with Steve Porcaro (Toto’s keyboardist) shortly after the single was released.
Weezer and Extreme are the kings of harmonizing
Amazing vocalist
I love this. So awesome!
Still playing this song over and over again from the day it came out!
Kick me
I'm not a huge fan of this song or their cover of it, but I think probably the coolest and most impressive part of this particular performance is those incredible vocal harmonies during the chorus. To fully appreciate how awesome they are wear headphones.
Sweet song, long time fav of mine!!!
Wow, they are great live.
This is their best performance of Africa I have seen yet
Everytime I hear this song, I just think of Vice City and memories come flooding back to my teenage years.
Awsome I’d love to be there
One of my favorite bands ever!!
dope i can hear this
It working been while since u hear this
So great!!
Sounds great, Weezer was the band that I could best relate to in 94, when I was a 13 year old. Loved em ever since
Vocals here are 🔥🔥🔥
So much more to this band then what meets the eye...they are very talented and write brilliant songs, and can knock any cover tune right outta the ball park !!!
So glad you took the little girls advice and covered this classic song!
Awesome!!
Sounding good rivers.
“....Hurry boy, she’s waiting there for you....”
Slappin this song right now....without the homies lol
They nailed the vocal harmonies, damn.
Like, how many bands can give you the chills when you hear them....
I was singing this song last year and I can’t wait to listen more.
DANG IT I MISSED IT. I was watching USA vs Finland on hockey yesterday.
Sp glad usa lost the gold
Great harmonies
Excellent!
My favorite song of all time. Fantastic.
One of the best versions of a remade song 🎵 ever
I love watching hundreds of millennials who never heard this song till a few months ago all singing it like theyve listened to it since it came out
Hit if you really remember weezer from like '94. Showin my age lol
howard trommer I’m 63 and I’d never heard of Weezer until this year. Going to see them with my adult children in Sacramento. Funny how you miss things. Great band with some good music, but this was a mistake.
25 years going strong!
Am I that old? Yes, I am :(
i first heard/saw weezer after helping my friend install windows 95 (it was the demo vid) so, yeah.
Hit if you really remember Toto from like "84.
I'll sit down son lol
I cried dudeeee
*Magníficos!*
🇧🇷
Such a cool band
brian killed it
Ikr right
He sure did! On keys and especially his strong harmony parts.
tears of joy🎉😭🎉 it’s that good
That looks like so much fun
Me too! Best super Bowl show ever!
Harmonies on chorus did not disappoint!
Such and awesome cover😊😊
Weezer for life
I think you mean 'ride or die', friend
nice singing makes my day this my jam too
i love u sm
Weezer is tragically underrated.
I blessed the auto tune down in Africa! I love weezer! Such a great cover.
I hardcore sang along to this song on new year’s!
It's glorious
Weezer still rocking it!!! Ur Pinkerton album came out after I had a cat named Pinkerton!! Felt like u made it for me. Still my favorite album.
Oh yeah yeah
This is the first song I ever heard on the radio this song is mine
Ayyy
Just started listening to Weezer a day ago, I can't believe I havent heard of them until Rivers Wentz from My Chemical Romance was in their Can't Knock The Hustle video😂😂 I watched it right when it came out, and I loved it! Then I came back to it yesterday, and now I'm obsessed and can't stop playing it! Also Rivers does look rly good here👌👌
Amazing performance! :)
