    The main aim of the platform is to precipitate debate on why teeth are crooked. Most people are not aware that (in most cases) the dental profession has little or no idea why the teeth are crooked, or for that matter why children need major surgery. Clearly there are genetic issues, however the science is clear, the weight of quality research papers, in respected peer reviewed journals, show that our modern lifestyle is a more important factor and most importantly we can do something about this.
    This is especially important as sleep apnoea, TMD, forward head posture and a most otolaryngology problems are implicated as other symptoms of the same underlying problem.

    People..if you doubt this person. Let me make it clear. Its been one year that iam following his advice through this channel.
    I am 22 years old now and started mewing and chewing hard a year back. I had breathing problem including nasal polyps that lead me to breathe through mouth occasionally. 6 months into starting mewing i noticed nothing much. But when a friend from my school days met me a few months back he told me "your face looks different" . Its then i noticed. My jaw line has developed and my face is much defined . I can feel my cheekbones as if they has come forward...not much but still noticeable.
    Trust me this works but dont expect any rapid change , it takes time.

    I have been mewing properly (my tongue was always resting at the roof of my mouth since I don't remember, but not all the way) and I also did other non-mew techniques, my main goal was to give my lower eyes some support... first thing I've noticed that my roommates said I stopped snoring.
    So, I can't wrap my mind around how this info is controversial if something as simple as one's tongue placement affects something as crucial as their sleeping quality.

    I'm looking into getting a palette expansion so I took these notes:
    - Professor John Mew Palette Expansion Lecture Notes -
    Good ones:
    - Biobloc Stage 1 or BB1 ★ (best in the world made by Professor John Mew himself)
    * Causes no scarring by allowing for new bone growth on the palette
    * No damage to periodontal membranes (1/8 mm per day or more will cause damage)
    * Slow and gentle @ 1/16 mm per day
    * Requires no surgery
    * No springs or TADs (they do a poor job and cause damage)
    * Allows space for mewing
    * Growth is stable and further expansion after usage is possible (must mew)
    * Works on adults and gives at least 5-10 mm of additional width
    * Generally operates with good orthodontic practice in mind and significantly boosts facial attractiveness
    - AGGA (acceptable knockoff of the former)
    - ALF (also effective & gentle all-wire system)
    Bad ones: (avoid at all costs)
    - DNA*
    - Homeobloc*
    - NAC**
    - MARPE**
    - RPE**
    * really bad spring-based knockoffs of BB1
    ** might as well just safe money and use vice grips or something
    What makes a good palette expander?
    * Slow and gentle, especially on the periodontal membranes ("semi-rapid" 1/16 mm per day expansion)
    * Doesn't cause damage to the suture along the palette
    * No springs, (especially on the individual teeth), TADs, or surgical assistance

    I have had experience using the upper DNA appliance. It has resulted in expansion which has (obviously) been helpful and the good thing is that it's a removable appliance, however I would be interested to know how much damage may have been done to my roots from having the pressure placed on teeth by the springs for a prolonged period. When I had an x-ray after completing the initial treatment (I am now in braces to fix a cant from prior orthodontics) my dentist could not identify any damage from the DNA appliance, but we did notice minor root resorption in a lower premolar likely from prior orthodontics.

    I have an issue and I'm wondering if anyone in the mewing community could help me or steer me in a direction to find more information on this. My maxillary canine on my left side grew in the wrong place, in front of my second premolar. Because of that my deciduous canine never fell out. I've been given an expander by my orthodontist to see where those teeth may move with expansion, but I've been told that most likely I will have to have both my deciduous and permanent canine removed and a fake canine in its place. I would like to keep my permanent canine if possible but I don't know how it would be possible to move it into it's correct spot considering the first premolar is in between. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi, just wanted to ask whether I should continue mewing as I've done braces about 2 years ago and am currently wearing retainers every night when I go to bed. I tried to mew in the day and sleep with retainers in the night but my teeth would kind of hurt and feel a little loose. I read up on various forums that mewing and wearing retainers is basically doing 2 opposite things (mewing is trying to expand and using retainer is holding the current position in place and does not allow expanding) and it would hurt my teeth in the long run without any improvements.

      @ImaDoWatIWant 2 роки тому +1

      stop wearing your retainer non-permanent if you mew. It will loosen your teeth because mewing causes expansion and your retainer is keeping it there. This causes a back and forth with your teeth and will eventually cause it to fall out. mewing and correct swallowing will keep your teeth straight it might cause some gaps though. I think gaps are better than having a recessed face though.

    I'm curious to know, would mewing affect my overbite? Make it better in any way?

    • @deag705
      @deag705 2 роки тому +1

      Hey, I have an overbite too and i dont have the exact answer either. I noticed theres a bit of people that have improved their overbite with mewing and some people worsened it so its kinda mixed. I remember Mike Mew saying fixing an overbite with mewing alone is a very hard thing to do. I think what you can try though is making sure you perfect your posture before you start mewing, which means getting rid of forward head posture and having good neck and back posture, and a good way to practice that is by doing the chin tuck exercise which you can find on the orthotropics channel. I believe if you have forward head posture it could end up making your overbite stick out further if you mew with it so i definitely would advice working on posture first. Another thing is to find the reason to what could be causing your overbite. I noticed when I wake up every morning my top front teeth hurt so before i sleep i been practicing keeping my tongue back and its been working, I also notice when i drink food or swallow my tongue naturally pushes my top front teeth so I'm working on that too, so defintely try and see if you have bad habits like that as well. Another thing is when you start to mew, i believe (not 100% certain) you should keep your tongue behind the rigid part of your palate. I think I remember Mike Mew saying your tongue should be behind it, and it does make sence to me cause thats where people would probably place their tongues if they didn't have an overbite. I plan to try all of this as well once I get better posture. Sorry for the lengthy post, I hope it helps in some way, good luck.
