Mewing has been very influential in my life. I've had a slight underbite and slight openbite and had orthodontic treatment from the ages 8 till 16 and had been recommended a small surgery when I was 16 which i refused since i was a bit afraid about nerve damage, relapse , not having the desired result and also because I didn't think my profile was bad. I've started to mew at the age of 20 and have been doing it for the past 1 year. Along the way,I've had difficulties keeping the tongue on the roof of my mouth properly but after a period of 4-5 months, I've learnt to properly suction my tongue onto my palate. In the past 1 year, I've incorporated things such as proper neck and body posture, eating hard foods and chewing them until they become a mesh, chewing hard gum, practicing proper swallowing, exercising on a daily basis, etc which complemented to mewing. I didn't have noticable results for the first 5 months but after that initial period, I've noticed that my upper teeth came forward which motivated me to continue my journey, my teeth progressively came forward as I continued mewing and I've hence closed my slight underbite and my openbite is closing little by little. I've also had a downswung underbite profile wherein my lower lip protruded my upper lip by 2-4 millimeters before mewing. Now ,in this 1 year of mewing, I've eliminated my underbite profile and now my upper lip protrudes the lower lip by a few millimeters. I've also got my maxilla tilting forward which I think contributed to the above mentioned thing. My face looks harmonius to me right now and many people have complimented me on my looks recently. Now,I'm looking forward to be consistent and devoted to mewing long term and improve my aesthetic results and functional results drastically. Thank you Dr.John Mew and Dr.Mike mew!
Hi, I’m happy for your result. Can you tell me if this mewing process will help in reducing the lip size? Both my upper and lower lips are bigger than usual, will mewing help or shall I go for a surgery, I guess my lips look bigger partly for my tooth alignment which is slightly outward but that’s not all, my lips are larger too and look even larger when both combined
@@SRL1996 we'll I can't say my lips actually got smaller but now, my upper lip looks prominent and bigger relative to my lower lip.
@@SRL1996 Definetly an yes because my maxilla tilted forward creating a more prominent upper lip compared to my lower one .
@@antonjerome7585 then what shall I do in your opinion? Should I continue mewing and later go for a surgery or do you have any alternative idea?
You deserve a Nobel prize for the work you have done
Amazing results as always. Thank you for sharing this with us Dr. Mew.
That's really informative, thank you!
What a beautiful result in that woman at the end! Both the teeth and face look wonderful and natural.
Bless you dr. Mew. Thank you for changing my life.
You are a genius, Dr. Mew. I respect your work and love listening to you speak.
I first saw the Orthotropics site about 18 years ago in 2005. I had extremely flat cheekbones. A doctor told me that he would recommend silicone implants which I refused because they can slip or get infected. Every implant is a foreign body. I then went to google and typed in flat cheekbones and ended up on the Orthotropics site. The whole thing was an epiphany for me because now I knew that traintracks and headgear had damaged my facial growth for 4 years. I wrote an email to Prof. Mew in year 2005 at the age of 29 because I was seeking treatment but he told me that I was really too old and I felt that he only treated children. He just said wish you all the best and that was it! On his site there was an animation where someone with an upright posture and symmetrical face and horizontal growth got into a vertical growth and the face changed negatively. The whole page was structured in such a way that one thought only mouth breathing would be responsible for it. The most important thing, the tongue position, was mentioned with only one word, but there was no explanation of how a correct tongue position works. Also there was no tongue or changed tongue position to see in the animation. The most important part was left out. There was no explanation of how correct tongue position works. There was a book called cause and cure of malloclusion. I could not get any information how many chapters the book has and what the chapters are called. There was no reading sample at the time and what layman knows what a malloclusion is? wtf. Only an orthodontist knows something like that. It would have been much better if he had called the book the cause and cure of croocked teeth with more information like on Amazon. If he had called the book this way and if he had also drawn the tongue position in the animation, Orthotropics would have become known much earlier in my opinion. Possibly 8 years earlier. All this was 50%. It was only with Mike Mew that many deficits were eliminated and people who were not children began to be informed. It was only then that orthotropics became known and talked about. Many thanks to Prof. Mew but also many many many thanks to Dr. Mike Mew 😊
I have just seen this, thank you. Yes I have little idea about promotion but you are right I could have done it better. Prof John Mew.
@@johnmew9980 when I was 6 years old or so, I had a dentist in my coutry tell me to do, in a way, the opposite of Mewing, to push the tongue down on the lower jaw and teeth. I wish he'd knew to tell me the RIGHT way, keeping the tongue on upper palate, slight push on the upper teeth.
Fascinating stuff!
You are the best man in the world.
Thank you Dr. Mew❤😢
John mew is actually getting yoinger and smarter. This is the worlds smartest man. Mewing has kept him alive and you and i must pray that i , we can be like john.

Please share more mewing adults results
So, even without any applicances at all, can you still hope to get progress over time as an adult by only using your tongue ? I watched the video only once, I might have missed stuff but the girl he showed seemed to be using a small ( as he said without any extreme force used ) appliance to help her get amazing results
Hello Dr Mew Sir, I would like to know if there is a way to expand the palate?( I know about tongue chewing but i seem to struggle with it) can i expand it without using any devices or treatment?
Iam chewing the gums everyday i developed my facial appearance 🎉thanks to you doctors
How would an overbite or a deep bite in an adult be fixed?
What type of appliance you used to correct the overjet of the girl shown in the video? I also have the same case😢
What do you think about Carnivore diet ?? There is certainly a relation with Human developement. There is also studies made on African tribes being mostly Carnivorous and their jaw/teeth developement.
Well at 11yo you are not an adult yet... So I understand her amazing results.
A testimony for someone over 20yo would be better
That's what i thought too, but rewatching this video at just after 2 minutes, he says the root apex closes at the age of puberty, and moving teeth after that can be harmful. Maybe the video title is inaccurate rather than the content.
@@mystik.mermayde.aotearoayeah, he literally means adult teeth not adult's teeth, although all adults should have adult teeth
Does the tilting of teeth also implies bringing the maxilla forward? Because otherwise once the teeth become straight again, there would be no gain or advancement of the mandibula, would it?
What appliance was used for these results? Could homeoblock or dna achieve the same results since they are a tooth borne appliance?
Hi Dr. Mew. Is it possible to fix occlusion of the wisdom teeth?
Is there a way can rotate my maxilla counter clockwise? Beachside my maxilla grew downwards due to mouth breathing
I have this very important question for the mews so please answer this- Closed mouth chewing mastic gum is causing significantly more face bloating compared to open mouth chewing where bloating is none to minimal. What am I doing wrong here? I chew using my pre molars and molars in both experiments. Please share your thoughts on this. I came to hypothesis that open mouth chewing might be superior method of chewing.
I don’t understand difficult concepts in English, can anyone explain to me what does he mean?
Is the idea that we shouldn’t wear braces and doing mewing instead? 🤔
thx
Can a maxilla be narrowed? They expanded my maxilla from 39mm to 45mm and I think it’s way too wide. They did this when I was around 11-12 years old. I’m 35 years old and I used to have good forward growth and facial structure and they made me less feminine. Can you get the biobloc and just strictly do forward expansion only since they made my mouth wider than a man? Thanks.
On the last screen with the girl, it says she wore a "stage 3." Stage 3 what? What is the piece called that she wore?
If I have already received orthodontic treatment and the made small gaps in my teeth to stop flaring, if I start mewing will my teeth have gaps in them once they move?
Can you make a video on how to brush teeth for hollow cheeks because most of us use buccinator to do it
I love you
Is there a way to fix assymetrical palate
Hi Dr. Mew,
Unfortunately I got braces and 3 wisdom teeth removed before I knew about mewing. Right now I'm on the end of my braces treatment and my upper front incisor is not in the middle of my face. I would like to ask if I still can fix it with mewing. Thank you very much
You've got a serious asymmetrical prob, you're gonna have to get back to your dentist, well that's their point though
is there anything that can be done to improve adult clicking/moving teeth?
Please i need your help, i have bimaxillary protrusion (upper and bottom teeth are inclined forward, and two of my bottom canines portrude further than the upper canines). My dentist said that the most effective way of fixing this problem was to remove 4 teeth, but i'm seeing now cases of people whose faces have sunk in due to exactly 4 teeth extractions, making them appear way older than their age. My dentist also say that an alternativa could be to just remove one molar on my bottom teeth, to make them aligned with my upper teeth and to create some space for the bottom teeth to move backwards and look less inclined. This "conservative" method, however, doesn't create that much of a change and my teeth (especially the upper ones) will still look inclined forwards. What do you recommend?
Do not get extraction. I have slight bimaxillary protrusion too but am just getting the teeth pulled back with braces and no extractions. Extractions will cause bone loss in the upper and lower jaw.
So tilt teeth using an appliance, then exercise to expand the mandible followed by the maxilla?
Yes. And you MUST MEW. Keep tongue suctioned in the upper roof of mouth and move bottom chin forward.
My question is if Orthotropic treatment is not available. Is it more damaging to the roots and teeth overall to have traditional orthodontic treatment or is it more damaging to keep a Deep bite, Overbite, Overjet etc. While also mewing and having good posture as an adult to try and fix it?
@@alanhoang7015 I’m not asking if mewing will fix it. I’m asking if its healthier for your teeth to not do anything and mew than it is to have orthodontic treatment.
In the long term I believe it would be more damaging to do traditional orthodontics (TO). TO doesn’t treat the cause meaning that if it doesn’t help in a positive way, it will negatively impact at some time in the long term. At least having the teeth where they are currently, are kept in a stable position even if it’s in a non ideal position.
@@sharpshadest depends u coulf end up grinding ur teeth down to stubs like i did without ortho treatment lol but ir def changes ur face bad. Ortho said it damages ur teeth everytime u do it but invisalign damages less and its a small degree of damage. Cant get braces like 5 times and then change again at 40 you will have damage lol i was also in pain from crowding tho so kinda had no choice and dentist messed me up as a kid.
How do I know if you have the right body posture (also when sitting at a desk)? Ive been mewing and chewing for a few years but I feel I may have compromised my results by sometimes having the wrong body posture. How do I know for sure that I'm having the right body posture, both when sititng or standing and for how many hours a day do I have to maintain that posture at least to not affect my mewing progress?
There’s a video Mike made on postural check exercises and correcting the spine against a doorframe. Going further, mentally connecting with your muscles through yoga/stretching etc can help you find tense areas that could be causing imbalance (muscle ‘fascia’ therapy works too but is paid option). A mistake I made for a long time was wrenching my shoulders back, causing chest tension. The spine is definitely a better focus
Put your back against against a wall with your heels flat against it. If you can't keep your head straight with your neck back and pelvis flat, then you don't have ideal posture.
Your pelvis should be flat against the wall, neck straight, head looking straight ahead, knees slightly bent
Can I mewing after orth treatment and I put retainer?
Wow
How about myobrace appliances?
Can an underbite be corrected with mewing over the age of 50?
I have impacted wisdom teeth and removed four of my wisdom teeth can i do mewing
I have the same issue. My mandible is being held back by my retruded upper teeth. I can't tell if normal mewing is doing much for pushing them up and forwards. Any tips on how to do that with the tongue? I usually swallow by pushing forwards and up on the ridge behind the teeth. I'm 25.
Is it possible to fix deep bite naturally

Can mewing make face length smaller ?

look at his son. also, hes in his 90s. he used all his tactics to help his son. he couldn't better his jaw as he probably started practicing way after natural bone change could happen, meaning he was prolly in his 20s. his jaw also actually looked good when he was young

You are right it is possible to cause 'Bloating' but it is due to swallowing with a sucking action which enlarges the cheeks. If you can learn to swallow by pushing your tongue up and forward your bloating should reduce. Prof John Mew.
Hi, I am 28 male and I have a single tooth crossbite at my upper right canine which sits behind my lower tooth. My local orthotropic suggested me get braces/Invisalign to correct my bite, will this have a negative effect on my face? Is there a way to expand my palate and bring my face forward with braces or any appliances at my age? I would appreciate any response as this would be a life-changing decision of my life.
