What I respect the most out of these 4 young men is the idea they're not afraid to admit there are words and ideas they do not understand. They search for knowledge and interested in the truth. That says a lot about an individual.

Exactly. Most of the arguments I hear about the past are arguments which amount to complaining about biology. "It's not fair! Men are stronger!" I'd say "Fair?" "Are you God? Did you design this universe? Who are you to complain about biology in that way? Now you can wish you were designed differently, but you are who you are and you just have to deal. "Fair" is God's realm. "Dealing" is ours. Deal with the cards you've got and stop whining about the cards you don't have.

Dr. Peterson was saying that to suggest that men as a whole were oppressing women as a whole all throughout history is being reductionist. It terribly oversimplifies what actually happened throughout history. The fact of the matter was that, for the vast majority of history, ALL people had it tough (yes, even the wealthy, although money helps, of course) simply because LIFE was so tough. We take our modern conveniences for granted these days, and those who view history through the lens of modernity are simply misinterpreting history. The vast majority of humans who have existed throughout history never even considered such things as building and maintaining a patriarchy solely to oppress women because THEY WERE TOO BUSY TRYING TO SURVIVE! People need food, water, medicine, etc. first and foremost. The majority of people were illiterate/uneducated and far from wealthy enough to have others do their food/water collecting and construction/repairs/etc. for them. They didn't sit around all day thinking about the political ramifications of a patriarchy. That's absurd. Men and women BOTH toiled sun up to sun down just to eek out a meager existence. The "patriarchy," "toxic masculinity," "climate change," etc. are all first world problems. We have it so good in this country and this age that we literally MAKE UP problems because we don't have many REAL problematic issues. Have you ever noticed that all these supposedly ubiquitous "problems" don't exist in third world countries? Funny, that. Almost like they have more important things to worry about than some imaginary "oppressive patriarchy."

Half the country thinks they can pull their kids out of school and do a better job. Disregarding the fact both parents work full time jobs just to make ends meet.
I mean last week I watched a video of over 50 teachers coming together IN THEIR FREE TIME to discuss ChatGPT and AI. They discussed how they can use it and adapt to the technology to best benefit the students. To teach them to use it as a tool and not a solution. To discuss how lessons plans will more than ever will have to focus on critical thinking skills. They didnt discuss how evil it was or how people are going to use it to cheat or how they will have to do even more work making the assignments harder to use AI to help with. No.. they talked about what they can do to adapt that would best benefit the students.

There are some good teachers out there. The problem is you don't know what kind of teacher you have until you get stuck with a bad one. As a young man i have a question. I've been told that women unknowingly played a huge role in their own oppression so the wouldn't know how to help. But I don't believe that as their was 1st and 2nd wave feminism that made huge changes. To that, they (the partners of my mates) say its not that it's just all the little things women did on a day to day basis. But won't give any examples. I don't believe that but I also believe I could potentially be wrong.
I don't want to be on the wrong side, but I also don't want my friends to be on the wrong side due to misinformation, but I also don't want to lose them because I couldn't articulate my point in way that would atleast make them want to do their own deep research. Im asking the woman around me but most seem to just laugh it off as if the people making those claims are idiots, but they simply aren't because I've seen them do intelligent things before. They just seem mislead in a few area's of life, but i think we all have lies we believe about the world around us and that's part of life is uncoving truths.
Any my question is do you agree with the first statement?
And do you have any advice?

@@flowkimontana3120 If you don't mind my input I'd say taking sides or "being on the right side" is likely best avoided. Thinking that way only feeds the culture war which is getting increasingly convoluted with everyone giving their views on other peoples behaviours/group identities/ideologies etc. Focus on your actions and emotions and the motivations behind them, if your friends do something that lacks integrity then and only then call them out on it. It's the policing how each other thinks that is the problem, it would be more helpful to think about how we act and the motivations behind our actions. We can debate of course but it gets to a point where we're debating based on information we can't completely verify. Much simpler to just be a decent person.
As for the oppression thing it's the same in individuals as with groups. If you see a person who is stressed, anxious and generally negative they are oppressing themselves or have a perception which allowed them to feel oppressed in some form. Freedom is freedom from anxiety, doubt, guilt and shame i.e all forms of fear which is brought on by our unconscious beliefs.

We also used to work as a tribe with our extended family to make sure everyone was provided for. Women worked just not for pay their skills of being able to produce heirs was important for survival and depending on how poor they were she took care of the home front while the men fought and hunted to protect and provide.
Now it takes two incomes to survive and the immediate family is fractured and no longer work together to keep provide for their tribe. The home is constantly in chaos because everyone is working and can’t clean and often living pay check to pay check and can’t afford a house cleaner.
I’m thankful for evolution of our society and the women before me that fought for my right to vote, own property and own a business but I do wish we could still survive on only one income so that one parent could be holding down the home front if they wanted while the other goes out and earns the money.

Even my own extended family is split on whether we should celebrate certain holidays together anymore. That was never a question 15+ years ago...we always used to gather share food and stories and hugs and to on about our merry way. This year “Thanksgiving” was labeled a family gathering and held one week early and Christmas was skipped. I was sad and did miss the times when family values and time with family was more important.
I’ll even say not just families...I miss socializing with friends and neighbors. From Super Bowl parties, block parties, home interior and Mary Kay parties to even just hosting a friend or family member for dinner...it feels like that has all gotten left behind and is a thing of the past.

Woman here. One of the worst things women did to other women was to convince them that if you are a stay at home mom, you are “less than” working mothers. I would have LOVED to stay at home with my children. It I was convinced I needed a career.

And your children would have benefited greatly if you stayed home with them. Now everyone has to have one or two jobs and the children are suffering. They want their parents to be there.
I think motherhood (and fatherhood) is the most difficult job and there is no compensation. It doesn’t make sense to me.

Jordan is eye opening and amazing. The way his mind works and how he is able to break things down is very effective.
One point that keeps going through my mind on repeat- women didn’t want to vote back in the day because being able to vote meant you were eligible to be drafted into war and required to leave your family and home to fight.
Thank you guys for your content!

People in my family live a long time, I was babysat by my great-grandparents who were born in the 1800s, and had many relatives that grew up throughout the early 20th century. The idea that women were oppressed is nonsense to anyone who met these women.
They weren't quiet, they weren't meek, they didn't ask permission for anything, and they were happy that men took on the responsibilities that traditionally went to men. And the men didn't talk down to them or treat them like children, either. They both had their roles and were both very happy with them. Much happier than people today who all have depression, anxiety, identity issues, etc.

I have so much respect for you four young men. You are doing what I wish the rest of your generation would do. You are doing research and listening to speakers that are educated. You are looking up terms that you may not understand. Most of all you are trying to seek the knowledge and make up your own minds. You are not just following the crowd or group mentality. Again much respect. ❤️👍✌️🇺🇸

Hello guys. I am a 67-year-old, moderate, white, American woman and I love watching your videos. I enjoy the majority of your comments, your common sense attitudes, the way in which you talk to each other, and that you like Bill Burr. He is outrageous and hilarious at the same time. As long as there are more people (men and women) like you in America I think our country will be alright. I've had some fears this past year about the future of America. When I listen to you and see what you are watching and talking about I feel safer than I felt previously. I, too, watch Jordan Peterson, Ben Shapiro, Bill Maher, Glen Beck, and others.
