      Comfy and violent. Makes sense!
Do you know Dock Boggs? He was an Appalachian banjo player. I love him so much. found out about it because in the film Julien donkey boy, Werner Herzogs character would dance to. Dock Boggs only wearing underwear and a world war gas mask and drinking cough syrup. Anyways dock boggs also vacillates from comfy to violent and somber.

Your point on Alcest's structure of "aggressive" tone is why the band works: They capture the elements of black metal, but they have such a comforting shoegaze vibe that it just _works._
While Alcest's _Ecailles de Lune_ is considered THE comforting album of theirs, I tend to go for _Shelter_ , their full attempt with a post-rock/dream pop vibe. It just works as much as their content.
In terms for me...I'd say _Empty City_ by Tor Lundvall, a soothing dark ambient record that feels like someone walking through an abandoned, industrial city during a cold winter.

Just as an add in and kind of an odd choice but the first 2 releases from Grandma's Cottage is super comforting and warming. Being that its labelled "Comfy Synth". You'll find many projects in this microgenre to be comforting but this really layed the foundation and showed how to make a genre like Dungeon Synth can be nostalgic but instead of thinking about castles and dragons and more to think about your younger days sitting at your grandmas waiting on her baked good's to be served.

Hosianna Mantra by Popol Vuh is one of the most comforting albums I know. It’s Ambient / New Age from the 70s that is close to Chamber Music.

Great picks from the viewers. Kveldsanggar is something I've spun so many times to just relax to, the opening track alone is perfect for it. Also happy to see Nick Drake. Pink Moon was the first ever album I bought on vinyl back in 2015 back in this awesome lil record store/coffee shop in Florence, Italy. (My oldest brother bought Bauhaus - Mask)
A few albums that always send me drifting away into dreamland:
    2814 - Birth of a New Day
Seminal dreampunk album, feels like you're in a high-rise apartment looking out on the city skyline at night with the quiet rush of city traffic below and the gentle night wind blowing through your open window.
Candy Claws - Ceres & Calypso In The Dreamtime
One of the best shoegaze albums of the 21st century. From the first track you feel like you're being lifted up in a hammock of fuzzy marshmallow clouds, swaying and drifting through waves of ethereal vocals and guitar fuzz. Absolutely sublime album.
    Sweet Trip - Velocity.Design.Comfort
To me this is *the* comfort dream pop album. Beach House definitely deserves to hold a spot there as well, but there's something so enrapturing and relaxing about the sound Sweet Trip creates on this album. Atmospheric and dreaminess in spades. Hell of a great album cover too.
Ulver - Shadows of the Sun
I'm genuinely surprised this album wasn't brought up when Ulver was being talked about, it's a sleeper hit (pun not intended) in their discography, but no less deserving to be up there with Bergtatt and Kveldsanggar as its own form of pure relaxation, but instead of folk instrumentation, it's got more of a trip-hop vibe to it. Many are the days that I've fallen asleep listening to Eos and Like Music before I just conked out for the night.

Since I didn't get around to finishing the other video(about to now) and you still wanted some other recommendations, I've always found some post-rock to be pretty comforting. A lot of it has the bigger, grander feeling, but some of it I think really fits. But the one album that I really get with that is LIght Out Asia's Eyes Like Brontide.
Edit: Lol just went back to the other video, and you start talking about post-rock! Also, completely agree with your views on the genre, and it's why I essentially stopped following it as much. It felt like it started with a lot of experimentation, but then a lot of bands just fell into a very specific sound, and most don't venture as much out of it. But I also haven't really listened to anything new in the genre, so I'm not sure how it is now.

Didn’t expect Kaatayra to get mentioned here! Glad to see a little more recognition for that project. Black metal is my preferred genre, but my favorite bands/artists are things like the Cure, Lycia, Damien Rice Nick Cave, Tori Amos, Smashing Pumpkins, the middle years of Ulver, Portishead, Mazzy Star, some stuff like Nothing and the Angelus. I always have ten or so extreme metal bands I am enjoying and one particular non-metal artist that is my favorite. Manes, Reutoff, Tor Lundvall, and recent releases of Anna Van Haussen are all on the list as well. Even metal adjacent but not exactly metal I would say early In the Woods, mid era Anathema, and mid era Tiamat are probably my all time favorite "metal" bands.

Drudkh is sick! I'd just personally want a little bit of an asterisk around their name because while it's never fun to bring up the "political" side of black metal, Drudkh has had a bit of a history playing at NSBM shows and associating with those sorts of acts, as well as having questionable lyrical content and song titles related to Ukrainian nationalism. It sucks because they make great music but it's something a person should know going into the band. It's by no means the most intense, but it's significant enough to be worth considering if recommending the band

    SUGGESTIONS
    WUMPSCUT - Bunkertor 7
Rudy is my homie and sure he's heavily inspired by Leaether Strip but still. This album is a milestone for cyber goth.
Three Six Mafia - Mystic Stylez
Travis Scott, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, most of trap and current trends in hip hop owe SOOOOO much to this one
Techno Animal - The Brotherhood of The Bomb
Like with 3 6, this did so much for industrial rap. Danny Brown, Lil Ugly Mane, B L A C K I E, clipping, jepgmafia, death grips, ect.
Mindless Self Indulgence - Frankenstein Girls
Black Dresses, 100 gecs, kfc murder chicks, ect many A FUCK ton of electronic bands are doing what Jimmy did. Despite him being a total piece of shit. I played this cd thousands of times in high school.
    Mr. Bungle - Self Titled
Munky from KoRn has quoted this as a huge inspiration for their first album. Corey Taylor quotes faith no more being the band that got him into writing music. Whether Mike Patton (my jesus) likes it or not; the god invented nu metal.
    My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
What can I say that already hasn't been said? This album did so much for shoegaze it honestly hurts.
    Black Sabbath - Self Titled
Dude. Fr. This album alone spawned a fuck ton of copy cats.
Those are just off the top of my head. Hope u see this and consider making a list yourself.

About Kaatayra's language, one of the channels who posted the album, the "Antifascist Black Metal Network", responded to a question in the comments about the lyrics. They said the language was totally created by Caio Lemos for the album and that the "lyrics" were made up thinking of how they would sound rather than what they should mean. I could not find any interview to confirm this, but seems legit. It does look inspired by Brazilian indigenous languages like Tupi or even african Yoruba (which is still utilized in some religions in Brazil), but since there is no available translation online, I guess it is really a made up language.
