    • @SomeGuy1117
      @SomeGuy1117 3 роки тому +90

      Basically the same for me too (INTP, probably). Its weird. I walk a fine line of knowing how fallible I am, while still needing to piece together information for myself. I think its because people rarely explain their reasoning well. They'll say "Just do X!", I'll think about it, but if I can't figure out why X would be useful or relevant I'll ask them "Why?" to which they pull a handwavy "Just because.".
      At which point means to me that they either don't know what they're talking about or haven't thought the problem through. In either case, it means that their opinion is near equal to a random guess.
      All of that is probably part of why I don't bring up my problems or thoughts to others. They make empty suggestions/remarks which feels kind of disrespectful and insulting. I'd rather someone just tell me that they don't care or don't know then give a half assed response.

    • @applebits8324
      @applebits8324 3 роки тому +30

      It just feels like people didn't think it through enough before giving a suggestion.
      I mean, it may look like it makes sense to "meet new people", but when I think of all the things that could go wrong in the long term (and that happened in my life at some point) and how it's just better to stay in my mental-solitude-cave, it doesn't look like a better option.

    As an INFP, I think the reason why I don’t listen to people’s advice is because I have a belief that everyone has to find their own way. I take their advice into consideration, but I have to decide if it’s the right thing for me. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t. It’s the same reason why I don’t give advice either. I feel like I have no right to tell someone what to do because I am not that person. I do not have their experiences and I’m not in their position.
    This being said, I know I should be more open to others’ advice or opinions. They can give me a different perspective that I could learn from.

      Sometimes, unnecessarily dealing with new things just invites complications and overstimulation where we should have used our time and energy in things we know are already running efficiently, even if it's not really new but from an entirely new spin of things from the stuff we already knew. 😅

      I'm not an INFJ but I felt the same when people complimented me on my appearance (with clear surpise) after I had makeup put on because I was in a musical. However people do look better with makeup (not that looks matter) and I definitely did in that case because I was overly skinny and pale and had acne in high school.

    Listen, I'm an INFP, and I need to say that... It's absolutely true everything you said. The problem is not that I don't listen, is that if there's no good explanation other than "it worked for someone else" or "it's what I heard", then I'm not going to listen. And in that play, my pride and my fear of losing my individuality get in the middle and suddenly *I know best*. Lotsa advice is quite universal (that's why it's "advice" and not "counseling") and I'm usually looking for something specific that will probably apply only to me.
    In another words, I should just stop being stubborn and go to therapy to get the specific answers (or, at least, the specific ways to get those answers) that I need. 😂

    Well, I'm an INTJ who loves changes. I find them exciting and ways to improve myself because as far as the combination I can get with the things I already know can be countless...they won't lead me to some conclusions that other stuff I don't already know will. I apply this to experiences too, but more to knowledge. I'm really hungry for knowledge so I try to always learn something new. Besides...INTJs like to have this big system of everything in their minds, ya know? So if I want to understand the world and its stuff as a system(and I want to) I gotta try to know the most and best I can to have the most truthful vision of the world(and sometimes even the universe) I subjectively can have.

    The IxxP types you've mentioned was spot on! As an ISTP, I have previously tested as an ISFP as well, I can relate to both. The not listening to people and feeling like I'm being criticized or even dismissing things from people is because I don't find it relatable to me or relevant to me is spot on. I know me and people telling me that they know me more than I know myself is ridiculous. Yes, I hate mob mentality. Hate herd mentality. Yeah, giving myself up to the mob feels like I'm betraying myself and my inner guide. I need to be me and feel good being me. I need to be on my own path and do what feels right for me. And yes, that has led to accusations from some people that I'm selfish or self-centered, which is far from the truth! In my opinion, too many people follow other people's advice to their own detriment! You gotta learn to trust yourself and know yourself first. Others can't live your life, only you can.

So I try to seek out on what they think I should pick, it's funny to ask this to IxxP people, like my best friend that is an ISTP because they are like "Dude, this is your choice, not mine, you need to find what do you want, I'll be not making you take any decision, what do you feel you should do?" and I'm like I DON'T KNOW PLEASE STOP

  • @PoetryInHats

    The difficulty with being an EJ is that you feel a constant sense of responsibility for the group. But that's a drive toward a reciprocal arrangement. So if the group doesn't reciprocate, you feel lost and dysfunctional. Reciprocation here would be the complementary attitudes: cooperation, appreciation, loyalty, and at least some basic attempt to see the vision being communicated.
    The hard truth is that groups without leadership work well for the few strong individuals who make chaos their playground. But the weak have something to contribute as well. Only with protective and organized leadership can a system be generated where everyone has a place and contributes.
    People can be jerks to EJ's. They can be selfish and refuse to listen until someone gets mad. That would train the leader to be mad and ferocious all the time.

    To be fair to the IxxP: 90% of the time people ARE wrong. To use intuitive language, asking us to consider other's advice is like taking pictures of every person, car and place you see each time you go out in case that a crime happens and you'll need to provide evidence for your innocence.
    I know it sounds excessive but it's honestly exhausting to check each opinion and compare it with what we have just in case we might be wrong. IxxPs WILL listen to specific people though, expecially other Ti users lol.

    2 things I absolutely love about this video!
    1) I love how much fun you had making it. When you can laugh through the whole thing and present the truth as a joke, its much easier to take.
    2) It gives me something to work on. As an ENFJ, I often wondered if I was an introverted extrovert because I need down time, alone time quite a bit. But you are so spot on about us needing validation from others before we take the step of doing what we want.
    We have good intuition! We should just do what we want! I don't kmow why we feel its so important to get validation from anyone! Now that I know...I will work on it! Thanks!

    I'm an INFP and yes, you are right (and it really hurts to say that). My sister always complains that I think I am always right and I do. On the rare occasions someone can prove me wrong, I admit it and change my mind, but then feel like I have failed at life for days after. I am supposed to have all the answers. After all, I have spent my entire life assembling those answers when everybody else was living a life in the real world. If I'm not now the expert, what have I done with my life? My very identity is at stake if I am not right over 90% of the time.
    Have to say, though, I am nearly always right. :D
