this lady has locked down our country until we know it is safe to reopen. and 99 percent of us love her for it. she is doing the best she can to keep us all safe. that is what a great leader does.
Don't be fooled.. she helped downplay this in December and January when it was very clear China was on lock down and this was very severe virus. Planes still come in from China every week and we never had any screening or protection at the boarder. Jacinda wanted the tourism industry to survive but now all industry's have come to a grinding halt, people have lost their jobs, the economy is taking a big hit because we let the corona virus in. I've never heard of or seen this lady before, and I know nothing of her political views, but I'm heavily attracted to her personality at once. How refreshing it is to enjoy the personality of a politician again.
She's on the left, but closer to Bernie than Hillary. But a lot of our "conservative" politicians would be considered Democrats in America. She's also super genuine and sweet. I've actually been able to meet her 3 times as she made it a priority to turn up at high-schools and universities to encourage young people to get involved in politics, and she is exactly the same where ever she goes.
She's exactly like this in person too, so down to earth. I met her in the lead up to our elections last year and had the opportunity to grill her on health policy, and she absolutely knew her shit even though Heath wasn't her primary portfolio. She's an incredible woman and I'm proud she's our prime minister
She's pretty genuine, I met her at the beginning of last year at my uni campus (a few months before she became deputy Labour leader), and had a pretty good chat.
Kudos to whoever from Colbert's team came up with the idea to have New Zealand's Prime Minister as a guest and Jacinda accepted it! Young but experienced, educated, first-time mom with the crazy schedule, down to earth and liked by New Zealanders! And she has a great sense of humor :)) Shame she couldn't get more TV time with Colbert but she gave many interviews to US media already. P.S. Thanks to those from NZ who tried to explain how is the election system working there. Although it would take a few minutes to Google, for very few trolls throwing stupidities out of ignorance it helps!
A prime minister who goes to the grocery store and converses with regular folk on the street. Like a normal person. Gee, I wish all leaders were like her.
AshPlus ThrE3 No we aren't. Just a few of us are. I have never once seen Jacinda do any of that, she normally gets her caretaker to do shopping while she legislates in the Beehive.
Bumped into her and had a chat about the raising rent prices for students in Wellington. She was really happy to talk for a moment about it. (Should point out I go to university in Wellington. Which is the capital of New Zealand and my campus is across the road from parliament. So it’s a lot more common to see her around)
@@notleftvsrightnationalismv4666 I couldn't locate any information concerning this. Perhaps you could cite your sources and I can look into it more. So far, the evidence I've managed to find points in the opposite direction.
The best thing about Jacinda is that having her as Prime minister doesn't feel exceptional, its just normal. Having an intelligent, charismatic but caring woman as leader feels normal. It really hammers home how lucky we are here in NZ!
David Galilee Yes, but our first female PM was pretty poor. Jacinda Arden in NZ and Margaret Thatcher in the UK may have been at opposite ends of the political spectrum, but they are/were both charismatic leaders and competent managers of government business. Gillard was none of those things. Worse, when she was found to be incompetent, she blamed her failure on misogyny and because the idiot Abbott was a convenient foil, a significant minority of Australians believe have convinced themselves this was true.
I've always loved New Zealand, beautiful country. At 74 with an ailing wife I'm destined never to see it in person, doesn't mean I can't enjoy reading her history and her beauty brought to me by Google Earth. Love from Louisiana
Get yourself an Oculus Quest and use Google Earth to almost feel like you're there. I say almost since you won't get 3D depth perception but it will definitely be much more amazing than looking at it on the monitor.
Being prime minister of New Zealand is really not the same as being the president. It really isn’t that big of a deal here most people wouldn’t cross the street to meet the prime minister not many people care (don’t get me wrong lots of people like her). You’ll find that most country’s leaders don’t really have the celebrity status that America imposes on their president
NZ didn't 'elect' her. Her party only rose to power because she decided to coalition with a nationalist party. Our conservative party got much more seats
canuckliberal CmHoC , Last I checked, you need more than 44.45% of the vote to win government in (most) electoral systems. If your party can't manage to form a coalition government, then maybe it's time to figure out why you didn't get more than 50.00% of the votes.
She earned it less than Trump. She also lost the popular vote but was put in power by a male leader of another party. Don fall for the sparkle - it’s has no substance
roger dubois New Zealand is a sinking ship at the moment. Both coalition partners are in a spat. Economy is going down. More people are migrating to Australia than ever before because better job opportunities. It's not looking good in NZ, more businesses are leaving because they are losing confidence in Jacinda. Taxes are at an all time high, so are job losses which is why the Ardern government has experienced the most strikings over the past decade.
Harry Painter Of course you would, because you're truly oblivious by media to what she is really doing. I am not proud of a Prime Minister that destroys industries in our country. I am not proud of a PM that puts the Government at risk by internally fighting with coalition partners, I am not proud of a PM that raises taxes, increases national debt, and causes a deficit. I am not proud of a PM that puts her child before the nation. I am not proud of a PM that uses 'buzzwords' to cover up the true reality of what her Government is doing - screwing over New Zealanders everyday with job losses, higher taxes (regional fuel tax etc.). I am not proud of a PM that only got to where she is because Winnie decided he could get more out of her. Open your eyes.
She is so so so much relatable as a woman more than I ever thought. As she pointed out where was her husband in the picture and while she was taking care of the little one. Gosh, I look up to these women who actually run the world with love, compassion, hope, and righteousness.

Been there almost every year since 2005 - nothing beats it. Great people - cultures - food - activities - environment. You can be skiing in the morning - and bungee jumping midday - and then taking a trip to a rural town to get a massive feast down your gullet. Australia is a good holiday destination for its beaches - but New Zealand is just better in every other category. Nothing beats Maori hospitality - and nothing beats their humour and enjoyment of life.

@@johndonwood4305 I don't know how you came to that conclusion. How does that not equate pride? Also that's a very low estimate for migrants. It's probably much higher than that. Sydney Aus has 4.5mil in just Sydney. I feel like you think you're making a point, but you're really not.
@C caymer how is that the conclusion you got from that? Clearly you're not a kiwi, because you don't understand the attitude from here at all. Jacinda openly admits that she has wonderful support from Clark, other family and staff, she is very grateful of it and knows that without them it would be extremely hard!
Yes very good to see the mention. It's the 21st century and way past time for clear, unbiased recognition of both parents in the lives of our society's children. It would be great if the Prime minister's recognition extends to actual sociopolitical concern for the state of blood family, with our as 'normal' 50% marriage failure. When all credible research points to the more negative outcomes for children from broken homes. (To say nothing of clear links to suicide by parents (especially fathers) embroiled in marriage breakdown and alienation of children). A start point would be the unnecessarily adversarial money sewer that is 'family' court. 50/50 care/custody as the default position if people are going to split. Push the feminist rubbish on domestic violence out of the 'family' court, scrap reference to the duluth model and use NZ's own Dunedin longitudinal studies which includes papers on domestic violence. Prosecute false allegation used to ensure custody and put any violence allegation to the test in criminal court. Not holding my breathe for any change though, Adern is a globalist among 'left' globalists and the destruction of family and conflict between men and woman (via 40-50 of feminism) is all part of agenda to dismantle national borders.

roger dubois New Zealand is a sinking ship at the moment.

Here in nz we call her Aunt Jacinda because she may not be our mother but the next best thing. Now yall can adopt nz greatest Aunt!
Is New Zealand accepting American refugees ????
Msg Auntie & she will be happy to answer your questions 🙂
most i hear is Communist Jacinda...but i suppose for some they like those kinda Aunties.
@@JonathanMafi How exactly is she a communist?
@@JerryDougherty No - you've got the Covid, she only allows returning New Zealanders into the country, most of whom are rife with the disease. But contained in border hotels.
She is very popular in Australia as well. I think many Aussies wish she was our Prime Minister.
@Scorched Earth a pavlova just might be a popular PM here.
I wouldn’t say she is very popular here. Just well received among progressives here.
as an Aussie i can confirm we are jealous that New Zealand has an amazing leader in Jacinda
she is more then 100 hundred time better then Scumo....i mean Scomo
Wrong majority of Australian hate socialist
Wow, i don't think i've ever seen such an attractive elected official. Humbling.
As a young father, I really loved it that she mentioned her partner Clark immediately. Thank you!
she wouldn't be able to do what she does if she didn't have Clark by her side! Every great woman has a great man and vice versa!
Max Thomas You lost us at "feminist rubbish"
He lost me way before that sounds like a conspiracy nut.
Paul Douglas Anyone who uses the word globalist like that is a conspiracy nut. 🤪
Proud that she is my prime minister ,proud to be a kiwi (-:
same here. My dad gave me soo much crap for voting for labour because I liked her politics. He's a national supporter through in through that always have excuses at the ready when they act shitty.
looking at her from the outside: you did a fine job voting her into office
we are jealous here in uSA
As an Australian Registered Nurse-during Covid 19, she is my hero, and the hero of all Nurses. She is kind and loving, not about segregation, aims to improve the quality of life for everyone on Earth.
Alicia, you can have her if you want.
@Steve Frankes Steve, are you jealous of her?
