Peter Jackson’s first movie “Bad Taste” is an absolute must watch, he wrote/directed/stared in 3 of the major roles, filmed in South New Zealand in the 80s and shows the real Kiwi life without being overproduced by mega Hollywood budgets. As an American born to a NZ mum I found this movie in a dumpster in the back of a licorice pizza record store and it changed my life! Mum thought it revolting and wanted to stop me from watching it at 12yrs old but AHHHH HAAAA Mum this movie was made in New Zealand! “Oh! Well then you can watch it”.

Couldn't agree more, when I watch late night show after watching any marvel's movie that involves Tony stark I notice the similarity between Stephen and Tony [I don't know his real name] right away.

I've spent a good bit of time searching for each and every time Colbert mentions LotR, it's enthralling to hear him talk about it, to see his eyes just light up - I swear, he looks ten years younger. The fact that Tolkien's work has become so deeply ingrained in Western fantasy culture is a fact that merits investigation and study, and, again - no one on Earth could do justice to the paradigm shift that is Tolkien's fiction works like this man could, absolutely no one has the breadth of knowledge, memorized, that Colbert does. Plus, with the amount of lore one can dig out of the LotR, the Hobbit, the Silmarillion, and the other short stories and whatnot that exist, there's easily enough content for a series, probably multiple seasons depending on just how wide they could decide to go with it. I guarantee any streaming service out there would pay top dollar for the chance to create that. It would make a huge amount of money, guaranteed, it would have a massive audience, it would cost very little to make and would be quite easy to shoot/record. I know Tolkien's estate is careful about what sorts of things they'll allow, but Colbert has never shown anything but respect and reverence for the works or the author, so I would be surprised if they were against something like this. Not to mention, Colbert himself would probably LOVE it! Speaking as a fellow nerd who loves nothing more than getting to talk, in depth, about the subtleties and minutia of my nerddom, I'm sure it would be a lot of fun for Colbert to do. I know I'm not alone when I say that even the idea of this brings a childlike grin to my face. I really think people underestimate the audience for this type of media.
