  • Sifu has been out for almost 10 months now and a lot has changed since launch. Many of the changes have aimed at making it more accessible to the casual audience. With the game releasing on the Nintendo Switch in November, I thought now was the perfect time to revisit it and see if that was true.
This re-review will cover all aspects of the game from its design and presentation, to the various updates, its technical performance to what it's like to play in late 2022.

Anyone else notice how the last word got cut out? It should have said
" Sifu’s title says it all. In order to understand and appreciate it, you must be tenacious, adaptable and above all else, be willing to fail. Only then will it make sense and only then will you become the Sifu."

Cool review might have to check it out. Any plans to review hot wheels unleashed? Been having fun with it since it came out for free for playstation plus.

This game is the first indie game I’ve enjoyed and felt to be as polished as any triple A game including the timeless graphics that won’t age

@@sumstuff6956 Despite how it might look on my channel I'm not a massive indy fan either. SIFU doesn't look or feel like an indy.

@@goukigod I think how polished fun and replayable (and deep the combat is) this game is kinda exposes what me you and everyone else already knew that most big budget studios don’t achieve games half as good on something like more than quadruple the budget I think it already sold a milly on ps5 before goin to pc I hear slowclap are making another martial arts games let’s hope it’s sifu 2 I think this formula is a winner and unique with the ageing mechanic etc imagine if Sony gave them a blank cheque to make an open world sleeping dogs type game focused only on the melee combat of sifu so sifu combat in an open world I think slowclap have absolutely nailed the feeling of interactive martial arts fist fights (shits all over Arkham etc) and sucker punch and from software nailed samurai sword combat imo

Ill be honest the reason i bought this game was for the absolute beat drop when u start fighting in the club. Very shallow reason i know, but everything else about it was so good

I'm glad you made this video. I absolutely hate fighting games, but the fact that this has no motion inputs got me to look at this one. However, since there is no input buffering it seems to be based on pure physical reaction of the player, like Sekiro? But then your explanation of the combo system changes my impression of this yet again.
I completely agree with the developer on the addition of the Student difficulty setting. It is NOT removing "skill", it is removing what people find un-enjoyable and in the way of actually playing the game. The absence of this option is why so many people drop fighting games instead of sticking with them. I'm glad the developers care more about players having fun and enjoying the game than what elitists consider "shallow" .

There are motion inputs, they're just not as complex as a fighting game. I think getting the balance between something high skill players will enjoy and also making it accessible is incredibly hard.
Most fighting games are still trying to figure this out. I do believe that not all games should cater to all skill levels though. I don't think the Souls games should have an easy more any more than Lego harry potter needs to have perma-death.

Ps sifu has to be difficult Imo because it forces u to be good to stay alive so in order to thrive u HAVE to be forced into creating amazing fight scenes on a lower difficulty the fight scenes don’t force the player to be stylish to stay alive just to stay alive because of the animations etc u look stylish it reminds me of sekiro in that way where u can’t really level up u can only purchase one or two skills that help in battle sekiro forces u to be great and have great reactions to a variety of attacks and so just a normal fight is cinematic as fuck whilst being all about the gameplay I really can’t get over how good the combat in sekiro and sifu is it’s crazy good will replay those games forever

Agreed. It was designed with challenge being a central part of the gameplay loop.

Pakistani restaurant analogy instead of Chinese restaurant analogy seems like a missed opportunity.

It's called context. Plus there's chapters.
