They are the hipster version of Zeppelin. Stole nearly everything that wasn't nailed down. But in a way, I'm not angry about it - Zeppelin had soul that you don't always find in music that just seems manufactured for the masses. GVF does a good job on emulating the style and produces some good music for the modern ear. @MACK D

My admirations to the video. It's a very comprehensive one. In fact, this is one the best videos on history topics I have ever seen. Coming from Bulgaria, I have always been interested in the history of Byzantine and Southeast Europe but I lacked a detailed knowledge about the history of the Arabs and the Middle East. I realize that the founders of the First Bulgarian Empire took advantage of the problems Constantinopole had with the Arabs and now I'm just "connecting the dots" and filling the gaps in my knowledge of the bigger picture in the 7th century... Thank you once again.

The time and research put in to this period of time is admirable. The only downside is the occasional sarcasm that seeps through where the eastern Romans are involved.

  • @RexKwon
    @RexKwon Рік тому +9

Thank you for calling them "Romans." This is historically accurate. The Eastern Empire and its citizens called themselves "Roman." Even up until 1453 there was no longer an Eastern Empire outside of the Theodosian Walls when Constantinople fell to the House of Osman. "Byzantine" was not used until a few hundred years ago. It was Western European bias and prejudice because "Rome wouldn't fall to Muslims," but they did. Even today in Romania, they strongly consider themselves the remnants of the Eastern Empire and "Roman." Romanian is a Romance language. They claim to trace their origins back to Trajan's conquest of Dacia.

When the friend asked why you did that, khaliph said "I was working thus using candle from "bait-ul-mol" (that is publicly funded); when you came it's a personal matter not public so I used the candle of my own".

Awesome!! Yeah I love this song. When I was traveling to Morocco with a buddy of mine - we rented ATV's and took them up into the sand dunes of the Western Sahara - was listening to Zeppelin half the time I was on that ride.

Stairway to Heaven backwards has a message about going to hell, I think. I cover it in my series with over 3,000 slides: "Proof Satan Rules The World Ergo The Bible is Right."

Great series, great videos, the longer the better....
History was my favourite subject in school, together with geography, they still are favourite subjects of mine, all the way back to day dot....poor are those with no history!
Anyhoo, start all over on this one, as I crashed out while listening to it yesterday and then continue onwards and upwards from there!
      Stay safe and take care....

Excellent excellent job, thank you. I am Persian. I remember as a young boy I lived in the small of Nahavand, as you mentioned, was a battleground, perhaps the last battle of the Persian king. Yazgerd the 3rd. I remember as a boys, one day I was playing "kick-the-can" with schoolmate, sadly it was human skulls! We had to cross an ancient cemetery, now shallow, on way home from school!! 😢

You should’ve mentioned the name of the berber king who wiped out the muslim army In biskra Aksil AKA Koceila, which is my name ❤️. And my sister’s name is Kahina the queen who wiped out the muslim army after Koceila’s death.
Thanks a lot I learned so much from your videos.

Great Podcast! The podcast is going to get back and forth listening from me because I would prefer to watch the youtube videos. I don't know if podcats that also have youtube videos get hit in the metrics one way or another. The maps really help because this is an area that I am not as familiar with.

Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face, with stars to fill my dream.
I am a traveler of both time and space to be where I have been.
To sit with elders of a gentle race this world has seldom seen.
Who talk of days for which they sit and wait
    When all will be revealed.

A bit of hagiography going on here . Nearly.400.years Christian Roman culture eradicated in the Magreb . Still continues with the persecution of Christians in Egypt.
Many Berbers are quietly returning to Christianity , at great personal risk
