I’m a history buff and this is my favourite UA-cam channel. Firstly the story is told in a colourful fashion and the graphic presentation is outstanding. Next it is a series of events that does not have a big profile in the English speaking world. A journey of discovery for me, as exciting as any Hollywood blockbuster. Well done and thank you.

Never learned any of this in Portuguese school. Just that Portugal 🇵🇹 conquered a few places here and there and had a few trading outposts.
Had no idea Portugal managed to rule all of the Indian Ocean for a hundred years. Didn't know anything about the war with the Mamluks and the Turks.
The Portuguese really do a terrible job of self promotion, especially their history. It's like everything is a secret in Portugal. The biggest waves on the planet, right off shore in Nazaré, were completely unknown even to the Portuguese, until an American came to surf there.
And imagine all the history and architecture that was lost in the Great Lisbon Earthquake of 1755.

If you never learned this in History classes in schools in Portugal, you either had terrible teachers or were distracted! This important part of History continues to be part of the History curriculum in the education system in Portugal and I guarantee you that there is no Portuguese History teacher, whatever ideology, who is not proud of this period in which Portugal really helped to change the History of the world, because History cannot be romanticized or dramatized.
    A Cambaicos cruéis e Mamelucos.
A nobre ira lhe vinha prometendo
Que o sangue fará dar pelos giolhos
Nas inimigas naus; senti-lo-á o Nilo,
    Podê-lo-á o Indo ver e o Gange ouvi-lo.

Concerning the second option decision would be that the Portuguese didnt have enough gun powder also they knew the other fleet possible agreement in place. Concerning the dislike the portugese had about islam is because of the constant raids islam did to iberia against them capturying people and enslaving them an policy that derives from the quran and is still practiced today in somalia and until the 18th century by the barbary states. The mistake was done by venice . And today we see maroko algeria egypt turkey being armed by europeans it seems like historical lessons where not learned Also lets not forget islam was an tyrant in indian i say that because islam killed millions and destroyed hunderd of thousand s of hindu temples.
