Welders & Boilermakers, the most elite tradies in Australia... TIG, MIG or Stick. No worries... Welding might be the easiest trade on the planet, as long as you can hold a grinder and know how to use a can of spray paint, you're off to the races. Honestly most of the job consists of welding all your apprentices tools into elaborate cages everyday.

Welding a tradies bundy inside a little cage might be the most advanced form of torture in the modern age
Provided you also cage the grinder, make them punch the hinge out of the drop saw, again...
@@maxnaz47nah mate, you cage the grinder tighter tool after overtorquing a flappy on.
@@smellysamthat's fucked mate... Gonna do that today to me tradesmen today
@@Xxassass1n021xX a used flappy is best, to remove any remaining crumb of hope.
The modern device called a straw would fix that issue easily.
Welders are the just guys that saw the hot glue gun in art class and never looked back
That's mig welders. Tig welders are the guys that wanted to build stuff but didn't want to get dirt under their fingernails.
@@legallyfree2955 And stick welders are the perfectionists who think welding is an art form.
@@Croz89 Well, in my experience stick welders are farmers so that doesn't apply at all lol... Worst looking welds ever seen...
@@Croz89stick welders are guys who wanted to get into mig welding but couldn't afford all the consumables

That fire affect was bloody beautiful
it wasn't an effect
effect? what effect?
@@toasterlad5577 The effect was that the flames were digitally removed ;)
I think the industry lingo is that real fire would be a "special effect," also known as a "practical effect," whereas digital fire would be a "visual effect." If the effect involves altering the footage after it has been shot (aka "post-production"), then it is considered "visual," I believe.
My dad is a welder and I can personally guarantee this is 100% true.
Being a fitter and turner working with boilies all day, I vouch for it as well.
And he found your mum down the brothel too
Being a office worker in the corporate world, I can also vouch for this
Same this is so true
being a boilermaker myself, your full of Sh**
The good ol safety squint, approved for welding, grinding, painting, machining, compressed air, and more!
And any time the safety squint isn’t good enough, you have the good old “close your eyes, turn your head and do it by feel” technique. That’s a beauty that is, I get by just fine with it.
I've used the safety squint every time I was on a lathe or milling machine
as a machinist, one of the shops I was at, think I only used goggles like 3 times. other than that, it was safety squint, or hide behind a machine door as I do my thing. but lpt, if you are expecting chips and lots of them, faceshields arent enough, go for full wraparound goggles and a faceshield. seems excessive but one job I had, felt the steamin hot steel chip touch my eyelid when I had regular safety glasses on.
I love Australian Jobs taught by Garn. Learn alot
Who needs official “on the job” training or study at TAFE when ol’ mate Murph can teach you everything you need to learn??? 😆👌
The airline in the background got me laughing so hard lmao
Garn is almost like the David Attenborough of aussie jobs.
He'd make a hilarious ripoff of Philomena Cunk.
@InvisiblerApple Well she's gone to shit lately so....
It's like the old saying "A grinder and paint make me the welder I aint".
Quality vid as usual.
As a boilermaker I can confirm this is 200%true
Oil him up like a tin man had me in stitches.
@@IleneOva can confirm we run on alcohol and high hopes
As a pipefitter, this is also 100% true.
Foreman gets pissed at you cause you didnt return his calls on a fucking weekend.
Super gets pissed cause you called him at 2 AM trying to find where the fuck your supposed to go, refuses to tell you, then gets mad that you didn't show up.
Theres at least 1 Journeyman on site who thinks he can do your job better despite the fact that his welds bust X-Ray every fucking time.
It's great honestly, love this life and the pay if you go union is amazing for how fucked the work is sometimes.
Certainly true in my BM local lol
He’s only missed the bit where you cure the hangover by turning the welder to oxygen only and having a good ol whiff
Laughed so hard at the end with the "I can't hear anything." I wasn't a welder, but worked in a metal shop as a shop hand, basically. Got more hearing damage than I would've going to raves.
from what?
@@LabiaLicker Grinders, band saws, air compressors, all of them together is just a cacophony of noise.

as some one who has worked in a welding joint this is very accurate the amount of dodgy welds that left on the truck is unbelievable😂
Bloody oath. You drum up extra business... it's called a Rework!! 🤣
@@judysimpson3774damn right gotta love having customers throw a fit and having you rework all 1200 parts then just laying in some dog shit beads and getting em out the door half assed.

we had some critical parts fail an x-ray test a bit ago boss just goes eh put it on the truck
@@iguessimaweeaboonow1282Had this in my first job too. We made medical diagnostic kits for hospitals. The boss was always giving a "second opinion" on ones that failed QC and, surprise surprise, they were perfect every time.
My old man was a boilermaker for 40 years and you don’t know how hard this hit the nail on the head. 😂
Love it
showed my son this video, he was cracking up and said he's gonna show others in his welding class lmao

@anxietyonline1947 yeah catch me down the smoko shed after work Friday, supervisor said you were talking shit bout my fillet welds
Good on you boys! Here’s to a long and successful bead!
Best mates a boilermaker. This is hysterical because it's true. The only thing missing is the workshop dog getting off his bed at smoko and snatching dimmies out of bloke's hands who never saw it coming. 🤣
the best welds in this video are the ones on the cages for your coworker's tools.
mind-blowingly accurate.
Doesn't matter if you had a bad day, cos Garn has uploaded and it has turned into a good day!

YES, I’m a welder and a blacksmith so I feel proud that we got a video
That piss-head boily with the shakes is dead on 😂

The best! Gotta do a plasterer one next
As a legit certified welder, my eyesight went from 20/20 to 16/18, my hearing is about half as good as it used to be, my nose is stuffy 24/7 and I've seen the bones in my hands more than 2 times, all in the span of 3 years. Very accurate video!
is there anything to prevent some of the stuff like those motorised respirators packs or like really dark filter shades for your welding mask
@@tar244you8 well, our company doesn't just weld, we do outside housings of big NC and CNC machines. So if you need to tack in a single hole that comes out as a welding fail after you ground off the unnecessary material, you won't use a welding helmet. So after a while, you'll accidentally look in the arc, or the guy on the other table is welding just when you look up and you look into his arc. If you use precautions, you won't have problems with eyesight.
As for respirators, I have no experience with them. Mostly I'd say it's the cost and the fact they're constantly in the way that most welders don't use them. I guess they work, but again, not at our company. It's not the welding, it's the grinding that gets you.
I once shared a house with three welders. At any given time one of them would be sporting an eyepatch!
Also a welder, had to wear an eyepatch twice in 6 months, still worth it despite rust rings in the eyeball.

Bloody great vid, like always, so true as well.
Best welder I ever met was my professor dude was a magician. He was also 39 twice divorced and already had throat, lung, and thyroid cancer. He sold me 1,000 rounds of 7.62x39 when it was impossible to find in 2008. In the school parking lot. What a legend.
So this is the guy who made OceanGate's Sub
Welders used to weld exposed steel toe caps to the workbench for the guys who cam in late. In retaliation, the first guy got his old steel lunch box welded shut. First thing Monday morning...one particular guy would yell out "COME ONNNNN FFRRIIIDDDAAAYYYY!!!!!!" Tuesday morning: "FOUR MORE MONDAYS TO GO!" Always a good time.
Being a welder sounds like a wild mix of skill, chaos and questionable life choices
Currently learning to be one. Yes, it is. I'm not even a proper welder yet.
