Love the masking tape to help section off clear covers and cut evenly tip @12:45! Also, bonus, the side you have tape on keeps you knowing which side goes up so you don’t stick the wrong side if it gets flipped.
I also use the clips. A small metal clip as I keep the bigger canvas rolled up as I work, and a bigger clip to hold it to my too small a work space, so it doesn't fall off while I am working.
Love your storage ideas even though I will probably do only the one I have and love the idea how to work on one area at a time because I know it will take me forever because of my pain issues that way I can maybe do a small area at a time.
"It's quarantine. A lot of things are expanding in my closet ..." 🤣 Just tell your pants, "WE WERE ON A BREAK!!" like Ross did to Rachel (Friends reference for those who don't know). Thanks for the video.
This was very informative. Love it that you actually showed examples of the questions. I will be checking out your how to custom video. Question. What is a good source for ordering substitute drills in AB, sparkle and glow in the dark in square and round?Do drills come in different sizes (I thought I heard this)? And how do I find out how many special drills I need so I can order them before my canvas arrives? Thank you for you great help. 🌞😀
Hi, Angelique! Great questions! My favorite sources for special drills is dpwithsparklers.com. 😀 Tina has a great selection in a lot of colors. Rounds and squares tend to be different sizes - square drills are usually 2.5 mm and round drills are generally 2.8 mm. The only exception I know of is Treasure Studios Art, who uses smaller round drills. The specialty drills from Diamond Dotz are also 2.8 mm, so those can be an easy local option for round drill canvases as well. If you know what color you want to substitute on your canvas, sometimes your inventory sheet will list a quantity for each symbol. I rarely substitute all of one color however. I find that a small scattering of special drills here or there is the most effective. That’s just my opinion though; some people love to go whole hog and I fully support that! 😀
I have also heard of using spare drills in those plastic clear round ornaments that open on the top. Then just pour in the color you want like all red diamonds or all green or mix them up. Whatever color you want. I am going to try that this Christmas.
Thank you for your tip on parchment paper non stick on both side. I did ruin a diamond painting using the wrong parchment paper. It stuck and was just a mess. I had to through it out. It was my first diamond painting of the black cat. Thank you again.
Great video, helpful and appreciated. I couldn’t stop thinking about “Sleeps With Butterflies” and just gave in and ordered it. DIY Moon Shop only has round drills available at this time so no decision regarding drills was necessary on my part, lol. Have a great weekend; I continue to work on “Boreas” ❤️
Tiny Worlds of Wonder I think Boreas is going well, I’m new at this so I really can’t do any comparisons. I work quite a lot so she’ll take me longer to finish but I’m completely enjoying the journey.
Omg what painting is shown when you are explaining the masking tape, ie, The girl who’s laying on her side with butterflies and flowers it’s such a beautiful canvas. And where in the world are y’all getting these special drills I’m gonna have to start sniffing around the Internet I’ll see if you’ve linked it!! Amazing channel, thanks!! 🍀❤️⬆️🌶🎯
Hi, Lorri! That is Sleeps with Butterflies by artist Margaret Morales available from DIY Moon Shop. Margaret's artwork is beyond beautiful! DIY Moon offers "special treatments" with special drills you can add in, but I think the ones I show in this video are actually Diamond Dotz Freestyle Drills, available at Joanns and online. There are some sellers of specialty drills too, such as Diamond Painting with Sparklers and DiamondPaintingDrills.com. 😁
So happy I found your channel! Just ordered my first paddywaxx. Thank you for the info on copywriting, it never crossed my mind and my mom is an artist. I have 3 canvas I just got for my birthday I am sure are not light. :(
Welcome, Amy!! I am glad you enjoyed the video! :) We all have some canvases in our stash like that from the early days. We just live and learn along the way, right? :)
Good Morning. Thank you for great tutorial. My question is about drill pens. Should I be cleaning out the tip prior to every reload (single & multi spacers)? Do I have to replace the tips? I've been struggling with PaddyWaxx. I've been using the scented one and I seem to have to reload wax frequently. Also, I have a lot of wax left on the drill when I place them. I've watched your video on PaddyWaxx, but was wondering if you have learned/perfected anything since making the video. Thanks so much!
Hi, Tammie! I don't typically clean out my pen tip between each refill - just when I get to the point where the new wax won't stick to the old wax anymore. I only replace the tip if it's really bent up, but I can go through a lot of canvases before that happens. Robyn designed the original PaddyWaxx for the multiplacer, so after more experience I think the Super Sticky is far superior for single placing. I do have quite a bit of success with the original too, but I've adapted my touch quite a bit. I drill very lightly now - it reduces residue and seems to make the wax last longer. I do suggest investing in the Super Sticky if you prefer to do a lot of single placing. :) Wishing you all the best!
Hi Jessica, I'm really trying hard to order public domain or licensed. You mentioned Ever Moment which I love. Is it ok to order a piece from them that is public domain? For example a piece that was painted prior to 1926? I'm too lazy to order a custom and like to order ready made, thoughts? Also, do I really need to seal diamond paintings, I never have. Finally, do you ever put your DPs under glass when you frame? Thank you in advance.
Hi, Karin! That is so awesome, and I really admire you! People have different views on ordering public domain canvases from companies that also sell unlicensed work (and all are valid)! I tend to think that companies with all of this infrastructure set up already are going to make diamond paintings regardless, so they might as well use it to produce public domain images so they can feed their families too. I don't have any issue buying old masters/public domain images from absolutely any seller because really everyone wins - no artists are financially harmed by the production of public domain images AND the employees of those companies get to earn a living. Does that make sense? :) That is just my personal opinion of course! :)
@@tinyworldsofwonder Hi Jessica, yes, it makes a ton of sense! I also ordered a Craft- Ease paint by number. Thanks for the inspiration. Have you ever thought of doing a video on how to assemble a miniature room model kit? I got one on Aliexpress and has been sitting around for quite awhile. I would be interested in knowing what type of glue to buy and how to build the frame and actually have it stick together. Take care and I look forward to learning from you . :)
Hi there! If you have a kit that lists DMC numbers for each color, these will be more or less interchangeable, but the symbols are not. For example, DMC 310 is black, and with a few dye lot variations, you should be able to use this drill on any canvas that also charts 310, but the symbol each company prints on the canvas for black is likely different. I hope that makes sense!
Hi I am fairly new to diamond painting and yes I love it and addicted. One of my DP pages on Facebook suggested your channel so here I am. Wanting to know how you tell the difference between poured glue and double sided tape when I am ordering a canvas? Does it say in the description? BTW I am definitely learning lots by watching you. Thank you 😊
Anne Burgess Hi, Anne! Welcome!! Sometimes it can be hard to tell when you’re ordering a canvas whether it’s tape or glue. If it doesn’t specify in the listing, canvas pictures can sometimes be a tip off. Poured glue usually has a transparent cover, and tape usually has an opaque paper cover. Sellers usually use exclusively one or the other. I hope that helps a little. Great question!
Thanks so much. That actually answers my other question; why some canvases have opaque plastic and some clear. I don't like the opaque only because I like to see the pattern while I work.
Anne Burgess Awesome! I like the clear covers because in my climate the glue lays flat, whereas on the opaque covers I tend to get some rippling quite a lot of the time. 😀
Hi . I just wanted to know how do I undo a little mistake . I bought a diamond painting and I stupidly put a white plain paper on my sticky canvas sheet. My question is how do I correct my new diamond painting. What can I use to remove some white paper off my canvas .
Hi, Hemma! Oh no! I have not tried this myself, but I have heard that baby wipes can remove the paper. I have also used Dotz Stick from Diamond Dotz to restore the tack on my canvases.
Is it possible to put in the link to the easel? The link you have in the above area does not work? Really interested in getting an easel to use. Thank you and loved this video, it answered a lot of questions I had.
Hi there! That is a custom canvas that I ordered from Ever Moment using public domain artwork. If you're interested, I have several videos on my channel with links to where you can find both the store listing and the artwork. :) It is one of my favorites ever!! :)
Hello love to watch your videos and im also a new youtuber,i just want to ask if like some other kinds of painting does the diamonds or the drills we use in our diamond paintings fades away as time goes by?thank you
I sometimes roll my rounds this way without any problems, but I’ve had square drills pop when I roll them with the drills inside from the pressure they put on each other. 😀
This one is called "Sleeps with Butterflies" from DIY Moon Shop. The link in the description is pretty close to the bottom, but if you'd rather search on their site, it is still available. :) It is gorgeous!! :)
You'll definitely want to remove as much of it as you can with baby wipes and/or sharp tweezers. If your canvas is poured glue and has lost its stickiness, my favorite canvas saver is Dotz Stick from Diamond Dotz. I saved one of my own canvases with it recently and two coats made my canvas sticky again! :)
Hi, Edith! I suggest Diamond Dotz Dotz Stick. It is basically poured glue in a bottle, similar to what is used on clear cover canvases. I have had great success with it. :)
