On one hand I admire her for doing whatever she wants and not caring about what anyone else thinks, but on the other hand I miss the old Madonna, who was inventive and provocative and stuff, but this just seems so cheap for someone like her (and it's not about her age).

She's only a few years older than me; I remember first seeing her in college when MTV started (yes I am pre-MTV). She evolves and does her own thing. Sometimes I like her stuff, sometimes I don't. As far as her physical appearance, I say whatever makes her happy-I just hope she doesn't overdo it and stays healthy. PS - I also feel the same way about Cher

Hay un escritor y sociólogo francés llamado Georges Claude Guilbert que ha escrito 3 libros sobre Madonna desde una perspectiva crítica y filosófica; me leí el "Madonna as Postmodern Myth", y ahí pude sintetizar aún más mis ideas y visiones tridimensionales sobre el impacto y el legado de Madonna hasta el día de hoy que pocos se detienen a analizar, donde la cataloga como el 'último mito post moderno' de la cultura popular hoy. En síntesis el libro describe cómo la semiótica y discurso de Madonna por todas las décadas como "símbolo", como artista, como personaje de masas inaccesible y causa de idolatría, donde se mueven la histeria, la influencia cultural, el fanatismo, la mitología, como Elvis Presley, los Beatles, Jean Harlow, Rodolfo Valentino, Greta Garbo o Marilyn Monroe, se impone en la cultura popular como un reflejo de los tiempos.
Lo que está haciendo Madonna hoy 2022 es lo que siempre ha estado haciendo en realidad, solo que no lo vemos porque estamos siendo espectadores de la misma época, y no lo dimensionamos en el paso de las décadas; solo reflexionemos un momento de que esta es la misma mujer elástica, irregular y versátil, que cantó baladas de amor como Take A Bow y Frozen en los años 90 como una Afrodita gótica con alusiones a la música clásica, y después fue la misma años después haciendo pastiches de caricatura como una bomba rubia tipo Mamie Van Doren en el MDNA con las raperas Nicki Minaj y MIA ; lo que hizo cuando ardieron las cruces en Like A Prayer y todos los medios pidieron su cabeza decapitada, cuando se manoseó con mujeres en Justify My Love, cuando dio rienda suelta al BDSM y a la fantasía sexual en el Sex Book y enfureció a todos los católicos y a los conservadores, cuando se besó con Britney, cuando filmó Evita con Alan Parker, cuando fumó marihuana con William Burroughs, cuando tomó el camino psicodélico con Ray Of Light dejando mudos a los críticos, cuando ha sido madre con vestido de dos piezas, dominatrix heterosexual no convencional, diosa disco, activista y vampiresa que ha fisurado y erosionado cada campo minado de la sociedad establecida con sus artificios; género, orientación sexual, música, política, juventud, cuerpo como templo, performance, distorsión, cinematografía, y espectáculo, revolucionando a los padres, a las iglesias y hasta las mismas legiones de fans que incluso no entienden mucho qué es lo que está haciendo los últimos años; y se entiende, pero lo que está haciendo además de exagerado, o grotesco o caricaturesco, está pensado; porque está alterando concepciones y conceptos arraigados culturalmente, está alterando visiones de sexualidad, de estética, de edad, de apreciaciones, es como el hecho de imaginarse a parejas de adultos mayores teniendo sexo, o ver las películas de Tinto Brass (Calígula), de Kubrick (La Naranja Mecánica) o de Pier Paolo Pasolini (Saló) que alteraron muchas cosas en su momento, aún cuando todo el mundo las condenaba y quería mandarlas a la hoguera.
Imaginen los contextos peligrosos en la época que ha tenido que manifestarse Madonna sabiendo el riesgo y la condena global y mediática cuando los medios de comunicación sobretodo estadounidenses saben de sabotajes y de hacer una sociedad del espectáculo haciendo elevar y caer ídolos; cuando fue la era del escándalo mayúsculo con la trilogía de "la depravación" (el libro Sex, la película El Cuerpo del Delito y el disco Erotica, en 1992), entremedio de todo ese torbellino sacó una balada de amor tan injustamente subvalorada como This Is Used To Be My Playground del soundtrack de la película "Un Equipo muy Especial" que muchos críticos y fans alabaron, pero que injustamente no tuvo los méritos suficientes ni reconocimientos, ni tampoco como para nominarla a Mejor Canción Original en los Premios Oscar de ese año; ¿por qué? Porque justamente tuvo que pagar el precio de ser una rompe tabúes, de ser provocadora, de no tener tapujos en la corriente pop del mainstream en hablar y visibilizar descarnadamente y sin ambigüedades a homosexuales, lesbianas, trans, hablar de muerte, de VIH SIDA, de orgías, de juguetes sexuales, de masturbación, de fantasías eróticas desde un punto de vista femenino -tal como lo hicieron en su momento la escritora Anais Nin, Marlene Dietrich, etc-, y de ser un ingrediente demasiado 'inmoral', de ser una mujer demasiada poderosa, demasiado inteligente, demasiado intensa y desfachatada en disfrutar de la sexualidad y despojarse de etiquetas, para la industria machista y cínica, como para los jueces y los miembros más conservadores y hasta misóginos de la Academia que siempre la vieron como una potencial amenaza; pura hipocresía. Aspecto que en contraparte, encontró muchísimos buenos defensores dentro de la industria que con los años que supieron comprender, querer y respetar a Madonna, como Kurt Cobain de Nirvana, Massive Attack, Sinead O'Connor, Kim Gordon de Sonic Youth (que le rindieron homenaje con Ciccone Youth), Shirley Manson de Garbage, Rob Zombie, Moby, Talking Heads, Pet Shop Boys, Tori Amos, Prodigy y un largo etcétera.
Madonna tiene sus mayores torrentes de influencias de toda esa primera camada de estrellas del viejo Hollywood pre y post código Hays, desde la misma Mae West, Marlene Dietrich, Garbo, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, Jane Russell, y un largo etcétera; justamente porque alteraron un sistema y los códigos de una industria dominada por hombres primero, y segundo porque utilizaron sexualidad y poder con inteligencia, humor y sobretodo, rompiendo cánones de símbolos sexuales, de mujeres "agresivas", de mujeres "irónicas" que jugaban tanto a la inocente como al demonio en la pantalla. Tal como sus idolos de la vieja escuela del cine, el arte y la música, Madonna está siguiendo los pasos en la era tecnológica que estamos viviendo como una cyborg moderna; como Theda Bara fue la primera vampiresa del cine mudo, o como su eterna inspiración Marilyn Monroe, entre niña y mujer obscena, entre la explotación y la admiración, o como la estrella de los años 30 condenada por la censura de Will Hays, Mae West, convencida de su sexualidad hasta los 80 años convirtiéndose en icono del camp, la reina devorahombres y la cultura trash de culto entre hordas de gays y vedettos; la Madonna de este 2022 es un referente totalmente camp que alude a la fascinación por el artificio y la exageración (en lo personal, este estilo actual que naufraga entre el trap, el gangsta rap y lo urbano que está pegando bien fuerte, nunca me ha gustado mucho, pero se lo respeto y respeto a quienes lo gozan, porque es un reflejo de los tiempos que tomará otra forma, como lo fueron el Glam Rock en los 70's, el Eurodance en los 90's, el reggaetón, la Beatlemanía, en fin), y eso ella lo sabe perfectamente, ya ha pasado por mil etapas, y quizás cuántas tendrá hasta que se vaya de este plano terrenal. Madonna ha sido puta y monja, hija y madre llena de ternura, Juana de Arco, María Antonieta, Marilyn Monroe, Bettie Page, discípula de David Bowie, una estrella porno chic, una libre pensadora, una bruja condenada por el Papa Juan Pablo II y Benedicto XVI, una Pin Up contemporánea que ha sacado de raíz toda la mojigatería de una industria musical articulada por hombres en mayoría, y ha dejado en ridículo a muchos diciendo: el mundo es hipócrita, vamos a jugar un poco.
Madonna tiene 64 años de edad y miren todo lo que ha hecho en sus años de carrera, dimensionen un poco. Acting out and shocking people on purpose is usually a phase most teenagers go through - and grow out of. I would be so embarrassed if any of my family members or friends acted like this.
