Wheelsnotheels good job you make the right choice for you. I'm thinking about getting the same bike. I'm sick and tired of changing gears. grabbing the clutch don't mean nothing. it's about enjoying the ride. now you don't have to worry about what gear you in. nice video I'm getting real soon.
Don C..I bought a 2018 and I love it! I ride more on this motorcycle than I did my cruiser...that says something. My decision came from watching videos of WheelsNotHeels experiences. She's the inspiration for me deciding on making the switch and I'm so happy I did😁
Woohoo! Glad to see ya back in action on something that you love... the only right bike is the right bike for you! Looking forward to the next vacation series :)
Wow! So happy for you. I see you had the NMS as well like me! Appreciate the Shout Out as well!!! You got the Bike YOU Love and need. Suprised it has 3.7 gallon tank. My CB1100 has only 3.9 gallons, but so far looks like getting 44-50mpg!!!! Maybe even more. I think your new ride is very cool!!
Hell, hell yeah sister!!! I love it! I think I might have mentioned that my brother has that bike (an older version that is). The two of us went out for a good ride in the Colorado hills this last weekend and he had a blast. He has no left hand issues, he just fell in love with the DCT. I'm proud of him and even recorded a video about it that I'll post one of these days. One thing, I do know that his version only has one sport mode. It sounds like they have made a ton of improvements. One thing he mentioned to me is that when riding at low speeds, since he is not able to feather the non-existent clutch, he relies on the rear brake a lot (kind of "drags" the brake). Anyway, enjoy that bike and ride with confidence!
Oh, cool! Do you know what year your brother's bike is? This '16 model has quite a few improvements. And, yes, that's one thing I also do...use the rear brake for some slow-speed turns. The bike will not stall! It's great! Thanks for the great comments!
sharky09000 Yes there is a Lowering Kit. I had it installed on my 2014 model. It's called Kumab Links & you can have the bike lowered almost 2 inches. It's very sturdy well-built. The ones I had look like it was gold plated they were quite pretty underneath the bike.
I like the DCT. It's great for riding in town, especially, where you are constantly clutching. The only downside to me is low speed maneuvering requires some adaptation, because you don't have a clutch to feather, so you have to use the rear brake and throttle instead to control low speed turns. But it's worth it.
I could not have said it better! That's exactly what I meant...DCT is great in lots of stop-and-go traffic but I do have some trouble learning the slow-speed maneuvers. I'm actually going to do a vid eventually about that; and yes, it's still worth it. Rode almost 200 miles today and with the DCT, it was so much easier on my hand, on a very twisty road so lots of slow speeds.
There is nothing better than a motorcycle with a low center of gravity, my Hawks like that too! I'm glad you found you something that you're happy with! Finding the perfect bike for yourself can be a challenge! Have fun!
Yeah, that low COG made a huge difference for me! It feels very confidence-inspiring!!! I've been practicing my u-turns in the parking lot and it's very different not having a clutch to feather, but it seems like I can make tighter turns with this! Yeah!
Great review. I have beign riding for 30 years and just couldn't nail it. This bike is the love i have beign searching for. My dreambike give's me that thrill.
Oooooh ! A new bike ! Gorgeous ! I've heard a lot of positives regarding the auto gearboxes and now another one. I would love to ride one myself and try it. Honda's are always pretty bullet proof. I've had quite a few over the years and have never been let down. Happy riding Wheels.
Good bike! They've been out for a couple years and no crazy flaws have shown up. Under rated I think. When my son was looking to buy, I tried to steer him to one. He bought a used Yammy cruiser and wishes he hadn't now. Congrats on the new ride Wheels!
Thanks for your thoughts on this bike. I've been looking around lately and this machine is quite interesting. On another note I'd like to say bless you or good tidings. I'm not religious or such but the way you presented yourself in this video brought out that sentiment in me.
Congratulations on the new bike, thats a sleek looking Honda, no clutch, just like the Spyder, and 70 MPG wow, that's twice the distance as my Wing's mpg. Thanks for mentioning me, stay safe, and keep it on two wheels.
That is so awesome, WNH. I'm really happy that you were able to find the perfect bike to fit your needs. And what a sharp looking bike at that! Here's to many more miles of riding in the future :)
Love it! Honda’s Iconic touring model the 2018 GoldWing has a DCT Auto transmission in their line up. Sounds like it’s working. Good choice on this bike. Being happy and riding is a good life.
Sweeeet, love it, great choice Wheels. Bet it'll never let you down. Coolio the way they've gone into great detail and thought about the design, love the lines of the body work and how they thought about the way you might want attach a tank bag. That's Honda for you though, you'd be hard push to beat them as a manufacturer. Coolio the way you've programmed to talk to you when you turn it on and off. Just that on its own is a great example of Honda inventiveness. The storage is awesome, very handy you can get your lid in there and the tyre valve, nice. So glad you're back rolling with us. Tcrs dudette ✊
I may look into an automatic, I lifted a 5 gallon paint bucket 2 months ago with my left hand and the tendon going from my elbow down my forearm has been in constant pain since. I wish it was my right arm cause Im left handed😂
Oh, ouch...sorry to hear about your hand & arm!!! Yeah, that frunk holds a LOT of stuff; it's so nice that it's lockable & waterproof, too. Having the DCT has helped both my hb & me; we live in San Diego and sometimes, it's stop & go traffic so it's nice to not constantly shift up & down. Makes the ride that much more pleasurable. Thanks for stopping by!
+WheelsNotHeels The pleasure is all mine, found your channel as I was looking at videos on the bike you have. The "Boing, Boing, Boing" was funny as well😁
Cool new Ride WHEELS !!! I want to try one, since I enjoyed the electric Sora (clutchless), but it was a beast. Yours has all the sweet features, and cheeky FRUNK shot, too ;) Glad you have Ur new 2, hope ya feeling better, & the Hummingbird clips were incredible, Nice ending pic, too ;)
Great bike you got yaself there Wheels, A local lady I know used to have a NC700S and she loved it and the 'Frunk' always was super handy (I often chucked my stuff in there haha!) She also had a topbox on hers for even more storage. Love the idea of the angled valve stems and dash personalisation! :D
Great review. I've got the 2016 manual 750 version and love it. I'm a 6'3" boof headed Aussie but the bike fits me fine too. Had sport, adventure and touring bikes over the years but this is just a sweet machine. Happy riding ....
Great video and safe riding. I have the 2013 NC700D, and have used the sit & fly cover (about $20). In addition, the Showkey seat modification (see NC700 forum) has transformed the stock seat. I would recommend trying these options, if you haven't already upgraded your seat. Enjoy your new NC700, it is an excellent motorcycle
Wow, some really cool changes since my 2014 NC700X was born. The frunk rails are so awesome that I might actually buy a 2016 frunk lid and replace mine.
Didn't know you could do that! Very cool! I haven't used the rails yet because that frunk is so huge but I have experimented with ways to strap bags or jacket liners on it. If you get yours set up to hold a bag, let me know!
If you haven't already, you should check out the NC700 forum (nc700-forum.com/). There's tons of cool ideas on there, like dedicated frunk key knobs and the like. I fabricated some mounting clips for the sides of my frunk lid for an insulated Nalgene bottle holder with a Camelbak drinking tube. I want the new frunk rails to replace the clips.
Oh my goodness, I almost died when you opened up the frunk! Such a cool bike, I didn't know such a bike existed until this video. Thank you so much for posting this. I know a family member/friend who might be interested in this bike. I'd like to test ride this bike but I'm too short. :(
Thanks for stopping by to comment. You could test ride the Honda CTX instead...same engine, same power, same great quality plus loads of comfort. See my previous vid on it. The CTX doesn't have the frunk like this one but it is like a cruiser, and the seat height is much lower, like 28.5...very doable.
You said it: the perfect bike for YOU! I have to admit that it wouldn´t be my first choice, but it´s one nice bike. I heard a lot about the newest DCT in the Africa Twin, and it´s working perfect, specially offroad. I´m sure you´ll have many joyful moments on this bike. (Refering to your last vid: I sincerely hope the spelling is right. I´m doing my best) Greetings from Austria, Europe. (Yes, Schwarzenegger - land)
LoL...I will give you a Grade A for the fantastic spelling. Thanks for the great comments and, yes, have heard such good things about that Africa Twin!! I'm having such a good time on this bike!
that is a sweet bike mate, and don't worry about it being DCT, it's getting better and better and I dare say better than most people are at changing gears lol Having a webcam on the bird in the backyard would be awesome to watch!!
You nailed that...it is so much better at gear-changes than I ever could be. I mean, I always could use a clutch, no problem, but way too slow and as you age, sometimes, constant gear-shifting is hard on your hands. And, yes, we move our outdoor webcam so when we need a zen moment or whatever, we can log on & watch a little bird being born...so cool. Just watched a coyote come through the yard last night on it!
That bike is fantastic...The storage...the clutchless shifts....the style of it...the mpg's....that front cowling is nice and aggressive and a little 'GS'ey looking almost. It looks like the Africa Twin for sure. Whatever you or anyone rides we are on the adventure together :-)
Thanks for the great comments! I saw an Africa Twin at the dealer just this past weekend...it is huge! But very cool! Yeah, love the GS-ey-look of this NC...it is very adventure-like and I just love riding it. I like what you said...'we are on the adventure together!'
I was just looking these bikes up, I didnt know you was riding one. Was looking it up to see about the automatic they have. I love dogs, they are nice to have as a friend.
Beautiful bike. I'm a bit torn about going the DCT route. But I think ABS is a must-have these days. And I like the appeal of focusing on the ride, not the shifting. My first bike was a Honda CB350 (I wish I still had it!). They make great bikes! It's all about having fun (and staying safe while you're doing it). I'm *almost* there ...
Thank you for the comment! I do know what you mean & I do miss using a clutch once in awhile, just not in heavy traffic. It is a great bike, but with a few tweaks, it would be even better suited for my needs.
Shit, Howdy! LoL! Yeah, sold the other bikes because they just weren't working out for me. The Ninja had too much vibration, was very abrupt & I couldn't put bags on it; the VFR was getting to be too much for me to handle and had some mechanical issues that couldn't be fixed. I loved both of them! But I had to find something that worked for me...Thanks!!
WheelsNotHeels shes looking lovely !! i like her to bits ! donno if i could find myself with automatics but if i had same problems as you , i would 4 sure!! better this way then no way !
Haha! Yep...I spent a lot of time outside checking on those little birds and making sure the feeder was full. It was fun to watch them get big. Thanks for the suggestion of the bike...and I did really love the FJ09 you suggested as well. I think the low COG on this was works well for me at this stage.
I wish more riders would test ride the DCT before making a comment. It's a great system. I like to leave mine in D but still manually drop down through the box for corners. Enjoy your bike WnH. Ride safe
Yes, it sure it! I thought / assumed riding the DCT would be extremely boring but this thing really has some get-up-and-go! I put it in sport mode and it's a whole other animal! I love it! Thank you for the comments!
Ok, so here's my thoughts on the NCX... First of all, regrettably I have never ridden one and I really need to get around to fixing that one day. I remember the first time I saw one. I was checking out the Honda website and the NCX had just come out. I think the tank box has been improved since the first model, the original tank box didn't always line up properly and reviewers complained of it rattling. So I dismissed it straight away. But 2 friends of mine own one and having had a good look around in person I think they look great. They are half way between a sports tourer like the CBR F and a full on dual sport. So from me to you, congratulations and hope you enjoy it :)
Yeah...the improvements are quite significant from what I understand. The quality is there and believe me, this bike feels very sporty to me...so I'm having a blast.
By the way that was a great video I absolutely loved it. I just bought your exact bike yesterday at Western Honda in Scottsdale Arizona. Previously I owns the 2014 model DCT but I found in Arizona having black paint job shows dust/water spots really easy so I really love the new color silver gray combo. I'm going to do to this bike the same thing I did to my previous model. As of today I ordered the K&N Air Filter & Danmotto XG-1 slip on exhaust which makes the bike sound amazing. Just those two inexpensive upgrades makes the bike faster and sound meaner. I would never go with manual transmission this is now my second DCT bike and I love it. Technically the DCT allows me to have more fun focusing on the road and looking at the views versus worrying about a clutch and the gearshift are all on the left side of the bike with a typical manual transmission
Wow, loved hearing your comments and how much fun you are having with your new NC. So many people have negative, misconceptions about owning and riding a DCT but it really is a lot of fun, plenty of power and still puts a grin on your face. I haven't done the mods you mentioned; I kinda like the way it sounds right now. I really need a rear rack & bags but waiting until I save up for that. Just had my hb lower the bike and will be uploading a video talking about that this week. You're right...with this bike, you can focus on the road more. Thanks for stopping by to comment and thanks for the sub! =) Stay cool out there in Scottsdale! Btw, we may be heading that way in September for a little trip with the bikes.
Great choice(i am biased of course!). I tried a 2014 NC700x DCT and loved it. Honda seem to have made some subtle but very good changes to the 2016 model. I have a few mods planned for my NC750X ,but my vlogs lately always go wrong ,so i end up not posting them. Look forward to seeing how your new bike relationship develops.
I must admit i nearly changed the the NC , after a few mishaps, for a Vespa GT300. But i have got some confidence back now so will be keeping the NC. As i said above my recent vlogs have been crap ,for one reason or another, but i do plan to get back into the vlogs this summer! Hope things are good with you.I always watch your vids but don,t always comment ,if i cannot think of anything to say. :)
Congrats on the new bike. Seems like a great multipurpose bike, and Honda is quite a reliable brand that makes durable bikes. Looks good to me...and if it suits you, enough said. Enjoy!!!!!
Congrats on the new bike! I love those NC/CTX cousins! I got as much as 80 mpg on my ctx, but it had more fairing. Who cares about not having the clutch, you will not be fatigued when you go riding. Hit me when you decide to ride out, I'd love to point you in the direction of some cool places after my trip up there last year.
Very cool! If you decide on luggage, I've seen the NC with Givi Monokey Trekkers, the silver and black are a perfect match (mine are the all black). If I can shake loose when you roll through AZ I'll spend a day cruising out with you guys B-)
For an inexpensive seat solution, check out the Airhawk 2 seat pad. I've had mine on for almost a year now and it really does help the seating on the NC. Congrats on the purchase!
Yeah...probably has to do with stupid regulations and all that. We don't get the 700S either. Sometimes, we don't get the same colors as Europe or Canada. :(
Nice bike Wheels. If your comfortable on the bike and it suits your needs and keeps you riding it's the right bike. As for any tool that that says it's not a real bike because it doesn't have a "clutch" tell em "IT HAS TWO".... it is an "automated" dual clutch manual gearbox after all, and they will be riding one soon as well, because all the makers will probably go this way eventually, just like the cagers are. I'll agree with some people that have already mentioned the airhawk cushions, I've done my trip to work ( 900 km ) on the bike a few times, the first time the last 100k's I had to stop 3 times for a walk around. With the airhawk I am able to do it with only 1 rest the butt stop.
Have heard great things about the Air Hawk! Thanks for stopping by to comment! I'm really enjoying it and I agree that this kind of technology will only get a bigger following & better as the designs get more refined.
Just did a vid recently on the ctx700 which my hb ended up getting and he loves it, especially the DCT aspect. This bike has the same engine and a very nice low center of gravity but I like it because it just more sporty than the ctx. The ctx has more foot-forward riding; whereas, this one your feet are just under & back a bit. Thanks for the comments!
+WheelsNotHeels I definitely like that it's more sporty than the ctx and I like the foot position better. Now I just have to find a shop near me that has one I can test ride.
Cool! These are hard to find right now! The plant in Japan is shut down so it's hard to know when shipments will be coming in. But they're out there and even some really good used ones. I got this straight off the crate; I just happened to call right as they got it in & I snagged it. Btw, thanks for the sub, Brandi!
I saw that one on a motorcycle convention and really wanted it. But then i saw it only had around 50HP and i am used to my 103+HP....little to "girly" for me :P Love the helmet stash, that is something i really miss, when i go shopping i will never leave my helmet with the bike. Have fun with it!
Wow great choice Wheels - BIG congrats to you!! - may you have many, many, fun and safe miles on it! Sitting up and wide bars... what's not to like? And the cornering is so much easier, as you said. Honda brakes... never found any that weren't great, 'nuff said! Very cool dash, especially the customisation ability of it. Great Frunk too - and I like your thoughts on the luggage. One question - does engine braking still happen? Oh man, those humming birds - so small!! Very cool :) Beautiful spot for the reveal too, Ride safe!
Thanks, Cranky! I'm really enjoying it. As for engine braking, yes. As soon as you let off on the throttle or trail brake with the rear OR manually hit the downshift paddle shifter, it happens very smoothly and quickly.
Nice choice! My friend just bought one also. I like it. I'm thinking about getting shift assist on my BMW R1200RT. I heard it's really fantastic. Even die hard knee draggers are impressed. -Thanks. Enjoy!
Thanks for the comments! I've heard about that shift assist...that's awesome! I really like this bike; now, I just need some Givi bags and I'm set. Can't wait to tour on it.
Did I remember reading that there's now an optional 'foot paddle shift' for the Hondas that works like a conventional gear lever for the bike if you are used to a manual transmission and would rather use your left boot than push the buttons?
Hmmm, not sure about a foot paddle but that could very well be true! This thing shifts so smoothly and it is a pleasure to ride! Either way, I'm enjoying it, for sure! Thanks for commenting!
It's basically just like a traditional gear lever but pushing it down is like pushing the change down button, up the up button... I've put a link to a video of the kit on your facebook page :-)
Awesome bike! If you like it, that's all that counts. Like they say "Ride your own ride". I'm going to be 65 years young and I just put a deposit on one. I feel that everybody is to concerned about performance and not about the ride. Thanks Honda for going your own way and giving us the NC line.
Thank you very much! I'm sure you will enjoy yours, too!! It's a really great bike, smooth, lots of good power & performance...not to mention, the frunk space! :)
Yeah, fantastic all-round bike, does everything. But I agree with you about the seat, I have to wear padded gel cycling shorts underneath and am considering an alternative seat from somewhere. Anyway, ENJOY! Ride safe.
Very true don’t no what the big deal is about gear shifting I like to gear shift but it’s about the experience go girl glad you love I’m thinking of getting one myself ride safe 😀
Thanks! Appreciate that. This is such a great bike and a lot of people assume it's like riding a scooter just because of the DCT. This just allows you to ride without constantly shifting - which, btw, I never had a problem with - and lets you enjoy and concentrate on just riding. It has so much power - which is subjective - that when I need to get up to speed on the freeway, it's doing 80 so smoothly, I don't even realize I'm going that fast. The only thing I wish it had was color. lol
hey wheels! i LOVE that bike. if id had the money when i was looking i wanted that baby. the gas mileage is sick like my 250 ninja, i know it had to be different getting use to no clutch, but that bike is sweet girl! i know you gonna have fun with it. errytime i see a phoenix edition i thought of your old bike, lol. i had to come visit and see what youre up to these days, im glad youre still havin fun on 2!
Congrats! A very sharp looking motorcycle. I really enjoyed the automatic feature when l demo rode a Suzuki Bergman Executive 650cc. and a Can-Am Spyder RT,like you say, it was one less thing to think about, and could focus more on the cagers, :-). Safe Travels
Definitely...it just gives you a whole different outlook and it's still very fun & sporty! I should have just said on the vid "I have not just one but TWO clutches!" lol
Welcome to the Honda club and great choice. It's the big brother of my bike. DCT is going to become the norm in the future I think. So many changes in this model since the first generation bike that I rode and I even liked that. I could be tempted. I love the colour. I think it does look nicer than the Honda CTX, but that's just my opinion as we don't get that model over here. How is it seat height wise as you look taller than me in your picture? I am sure it has the same seat height as the CB500X, maybe 5mm taller. Good luck and hope you have found the bike that's just right for you. Some folks will definitely hate the bike I ride in my next video, but I don't really give a shit. :) RSMF
Yeah, the quality is really good. Having the sporty look plus the low center of gravity is a huge plus for me! It is easy to ride & still sporty with plenty of power for my needs. I am 5'9" and can almost flat-foot it. I believe there are lowering links available. It must be about 33"? Yeah, it seems similar to the CB500X which I also sat on & thought was an excellent choice. Haha...wow, now I'm really looking forward to seeing your next bike! Good for you! Your true followers won't give a shit either, Connall! :)
That is a great looking bike gratz on it. I did not even know they still made an automatic, I am also having issues with my hands perhaps that is the way to go its perfect for the kind of riding I do.
It's so smooth and shifts so quickly and still gives me all the sportiness I need. Today, going through light after light and not having to shift up, shift up, shift up, etc. then downshift, downshift, etc., I felt really glad I didn't have to do that. I feel really good on it. Thanks for the comments!
I did not even consider how nice it would be to run in traffic! Thank you for putting out such great top notch videos for us to watch it really is appreciated. I hope you have a safe and happy Holiday weekend.
LOL, Boing Boing Boing. Congrats on the new Ride. That is a very cool Frunk. I have an Air Hawk that saves my butt. I could ride like 30 minutes without it and all day with it. Helped me allot. I really like the looks of your bike. That you love it is all that matters.
Thanks! It's a great bike and love the torque on it...very sporty & the gas mileage is awesome! I've looked at the Air Hawk and might get that or the Shad comfort seat...not sure.
Really like the look of this 700. Have problems with my hands too which is why I'm definitely going to buy an upright bike. Don't know if I can relinquish my clutch yet tho...nice review.
It definitely is something to get used to. I will probably do a video about some of the things I like / dislike about the bike now that I've had it a few months. I've never had a problem shifting but for some reason I was never smooth. The DCT makes it easier for me to have confidence especially in turns. Thanks for the comments.
Great video. I just got my '15 CTX700nd and love the DCT. I still have my Piaggio MP3 500 with CVT trans. DCT is much better. Trade offs: next to no storage on the CTX, but now I have ABS - tho 2 front wheels are great on the MP3. MP3 is better commuting in the city but the CTX is better on the twistys. I'll keep both. Now to find room in my garage! Thanks!
Ref. your firm perch, may I suggest this remedy, half inch layer of medium density foam, glue it to the leather side of a small fleece of sheepskin, strap it atop your saddle as nicely and securely as you can. It can look classy, prevents stickybum syndrome and it tells the world that you're not a nutty Knee-slider. Other than that, I hope your day goes well, cheers.
lol, I get so much crap for my scooter but like you said there are many reasons one might have for choosing this bike. both of my hands have joint pains and the NC700 would surly make it on my upgrade wish list. cool review.
If your trip to Arizona brings you anywhere close to Page, a must see is Lower Antelope Canyon. It will cost you a arm and a leg to get in but worth every penny!
Thank u for ur review I'm glad ur enjoy ur Honda. I've been looking to trade in my Ninja 650 for something more of a touring bike and I think this Honda might be the ticket. I'm 56 and not a sport person do mostly touring hear in Palm Coast Fl. I like the options of hard saddle bags and the tank storage is such a great idea also u can't beat the gas mileage. Enjoy ur bike and wear ur gear...Ride safe....
Thanks for stopping by to comment! I just sold my Ninja 650 also...it was a great bike but not for an older rider, like myself, who wants a bit more comfort. The vibrations and jerkiness was too much for me. You will love this Honda! The frunk holds SO MUCH stuff! I still need to get a rack & bags but waiting 'til I have a bit more cash.
Hi Wheels. Nice bike btw. Ride what you like :) That,s what I like about biking is that we can all be individuals & not some sheep lookin all the same (Boring!) Take care & enjoy the ride.
Thank you for your insights. Great review, I want one. I have been looking at these for several years. I am concerned about the seat height being to tall for me.
Thanks for the nice comments. As for the seat height, I'm 5'9" and we put lowering links on the bike and now I can flat-foot, no problem. If you're in San Diego, let me know and I'll let you check it out. I might possibly be looking at another bike so it just might go up for sale. ;)
Maybe something a little more lightweight, like a Kawi 400, Kawi 650 or the Vulcan s or even a used Triumph Street. There are so many great bikes and I wish I could try them all! lol
Cool ride. If I have more problems with my ankle, I might look at that bike. Honda makes good bikes. I'm still ridiin' the big bikes (Harleys + Victorys)
Sorry to hear about your ankle. I've always wondered how people handle such big, heavy bikes like the ones you say you're riding. I've noticed that lots of women ride Harleys, too, and don't know how they handle the weight! Maybe a very low center of gravity? You might consider the Honda CTX700 as well...same engine as this NC but much lower & feet are slightly forward. My hb got one, added footboards (see my vid) and it is also DCT. It's just as fun but more cruiser-like.
I do the funeral escorts in So. Fla. for a private company. 1st wreck fractured a Fibula, small bone in front of ankle and back of ankle a problem. Dr wanted to put screws in it but I would've been out of work 6 mos or more. I wore "das boot" for 6 weeks and back on the bike. Concussion also. Totaled the HD. I'm 65 so in a couple yrs I'll trike it or CTX it. Ride safe and watch out for the cagers.
Hi and WOW! Congrats with the Honda *wheelie*... you sold the kawasaki or just getting it for sundays? ;)) CONGRATS with a "bulletproof" bike. Honda quality is supreme! I know, because I have spent some houers with my tools over different bikes and Honda realy are reliable! Honda did use the V-twin on transalps and was a greate sucsess, and suddenly made a "paralell twin" with this bike, and s far it looks like a brilliant choise. Also the new "Africa twin" has this engine!!.... *can't wait for more!!*
No, I had to sell the Ninja; too much vibration, too jerky and couldn't put bags on it. :( So, the quest for another bike began. Some places here don't allow test rides unless you "buy" it first. This bike is awesome and yes, very good quality...have heard great things about that Africa twin, too!!
Where is this recorded? Beautiful area! I'm interested in a DCT and I'm liking the look of the CTX700 more than this I think. What are the practical differences for a new rider to consider between these 2 bikes? Great video!
This is a little one-way-in and one-way-out road up to a reservoir called El Capitan. The CTX is a great bike as well; that's what my hb got and he loves it. It is very comfortable on the seat and plenty of power. I really wanted to get the CTX in that beautiful red color but none were available at the time. He put some really nice floor boards on his, too. Practical differences would be the seat height, first of all. The CTX is about 28" whereas mine is 32...but we just lowered it 2 inches. The CTX with the big fairing really does a good job of keeping the wind off you; mine doesn't block the wind as much. The CTX feels more like a cruiser but also has a bit of a sport bike feel in that you have plenty of get-up and go. And if you're a new rider and you don't want to learn how to use the clutch, it also comes with the DCT...you can get it either DCT or manual. Thanks for your comments and hope this helps somewhat.
Excellent bike. Any bike that keeps you riding is a good bike! The haters can FRO and get stuffed. Hell Harley makes a factory trike for those who can't balance a 2 wheeled bike. If you ride that's all that matters. I think it's a cool bike and should be great for touring. I think Honda makes some really nice side boxes that are color matched. Combine that with the already generous storage and it's a nice modern bike made for long rides in comfort. With the areas you and your husband tour it will be nice to enjoy the ride and not worry about constantly working the clutch and gears. Love the videos as always. Cheers! Mike
Thank you! Yeah, I was surprised at the attitude from that guy who shall remain nameless...lol! Yep - getting side bags is next on the list; wish the Honda bags weren't so expensive, though. Gotta get some before our trip coming up. Appreciate the comments!
Great video keep up the great work , I'm very considering this bike for commute to work and you know back to home, so I'm very confuse so far to many options on the market , Harley iron 883,cb500f,Ducati scrambler icon , yeah to many options, but so far I like the frunk storage ...
All great bikes you listed! I was also looking at the cb500f but ultimately, this nc700x just works better for my needs. Like you, I really like the frunk and thus giving this bike a lower center of gravity...I can put so much stuff in the frunk, like food, because I need food available to me all the time! lol!
I think that's a great choice and hope you have huge fun with it The Manual mode has up and down paddles on the left switch cluster, doesn't it? I imagine, once you were used to it, choosing this mode from time to time could give you the sporty feel you might otherwise miss. Anyway, enjoy!
Yes, the paddle shifters actually can be used whether in manual, drive or sport mode. I've used them here & there for a quick getaway and just to get up & go! Very easy to use, very smooth & plenty of power for me. Thanks for the comments!
Thanks. You'll love the bike. It really is nice to not shift gears constantly in stop-and-go traffic.
Don C..I bought a 2018 and I love it! I ride more on this motorcycle than I did my cruiser...that says something. My decision came from watching videos of WheelsNotHeels experiences. She's the inspiration for me deciding on making the switch and I'm so happy I did😁
Lovely ride with fabulous scenery. Congratulations on your new bike Wheels. It's a superb bike! Thanks for the Walkaround.
Thanks, Paul...appreciate it!
Woohoo! Glad to see ya back in action on something that you love... the only right bike is the right bike for you! Looking forward to the next vacation series :)
Thanks! It's pretty awesome! Yours is bad-ass, too!
WheelsNotHeels Thanks wheels! :)
Once motor breaks in, and you get that break in oil out ... It will gain a few mpg.. Hopefully..
Yep...definitely had the NMS . Thanks for chiming in, Mike...I love it; so smooth and sporty. A very well-rounded ride, I think. :)
+WheelsNotHeels Yeah it's a 2014.
I'm a big fan of the DCT and the style of the bike looks awesome .
Thank you! It does look good and it inspires confidence...LOTS of get-up-and-go!
Ditto :-) I LUV just about everything about my NC700----the look, the frunk, the option to do manual with DCT! If only I could flat-foot it...
n2o4me There is a lowering kit for it😉
sharky09000 Yes there is a Lowering Kit.
WheelsNotHeels Thanks.
Thank you! It definitely lets you just enjoy the ride without worrying / thinking about what gear you're in or shifting correctly. It's lots of fun!
Oooooh ! A new bike ! Gorgeous ! I've heard a lot of positives regarding the auto gearboxes and now another one. I would love to ride one myself and try it.
Honda's are always pretty bullet proof. I've had quite a few over the years and have never been let down. Happy riding Wheels.
Yeah, this one is definitely quality and the shifting is very smooth & quick...much better than I could ever shift! Thanks for the comments!
You go Girl! I am looking at this bike, too. I also have trouble with my hands. I am sure that you will have FUN on your new Honda.
Biff Pyle Thanks! It's really nice to hear such positive comments like this...appreciate it!!!
Good bike! They've been out for a couple years and no crazy flaws have shown up. Under rated I think. When my son was looking to buy, I tried to steer him to one. He bought a used Yammy cruiser and wishes he hadn't now. Congrats on the new ride Wheels!
Thanks! It's so smooth & hella fun! I'm so glad I got one.
Thanks for your thoughts on this bike. I've been looking around lately and this machine is quite interesting. On another note I'd like to say bless you or good tidings. I'm not religious or such but the way you presented yourself in this video brought out that sentiment in me.
Thanks for watching & dropping the comments! I really appreciate the sentiment, too...means a lot! :)
Congratulations on the new bike, thats a sleek looking Honda, no clutch, just like the Spyder, and 70 MPG wow, that's twice the distance as my Wing's mpg. Thanks for mentioning me, stay safe, and keep it on two wheels.
Thank you...appreciate it! It has been a pleasure riding it the past few days! So easy to ride, yet still so much fun.
That is so awesome, WNH. I'm really happy that you were able to find the perfect bike to fit your needs. And what a sharp looking bike at that! Here's to many more miles of riding in the future :)
Thank you! Appreciate it! I'm having a blast on it!
Love it! Honda’s Iconic touring model the 2018 GoldWing has a DCT Auto transmission in their line up. Sounds like it’s working. Good choice on this bike. Being happy and riding is a good life.
I saw that! How cool about the GW! Thanks for the remarks.
Yeah, good Honda quality, for sure. This bike is the bomb for me. Thanks for the great comments!!!
Nice ride, I love my 2012 non DCT version. Mine has over 22000 miles on it, and still runs like brand new. Great bikes. Enjoy, and thanks for sharing!
Thanks! Yeah, this bike is super smooth, has plenty of power for me and I just love that storage in the frunk! I've got about 3000 miles on mine now.
I like the idea of the storage space in front of the seat! Nice bike!
Yours has all the sweet features, and cheeky FRUNK shot, too ;)
Glad you have Ur new 2, hope ya feeling better, & the Hummingbird clips were incredible,
Nice ending pic, too ;)
Haha...I was just watching your GSX1000 demo ride!
Thanks for the great comments!
I appreciate your watching & pointing out things.
Thanks, Bex! It's so nice to be able to have the frunk space AND be able to lock it up.
Great review. I've got the 2016 manual 750 version and love it. I'm a 6'3" boof headed Aussie but the bike fits me fine too. Had sport, adventure and touring bikes over the years but this is just a sweet machine.
Happy riding ....
Thanks for stopping by to comment! Yeah, I'm 5'9" and this is my first Adv bike, first DCT bike, too...I really like it! Appreciate your comments!
Thank you for the tips! I will check it out, for sure...haven't updated anything since I'm just trying to save up enough money for things like this.
You tell 'em! When they make the payments then their opinion might matter. Congrats on the new bike, it's a really cool ride! RSMF!
Thanks, Harley! It is so much fun & very confidence-inspiring! Appreciate your comments!
I'm on there...yeah, lots of good info. I'd like to see your pics once you're done.
Congrats on the new bike! That is a sweet all around good bike! Ride it safely sis.
Thanks! Appreciate that!
Brilliant bike and it looks good, too. It's the motorcycle that's right for you and that makes it PERFECT. Enjoy the ride and congratulations. :)
Thank you, Tim! It really surprised me; that low COG helps me a LOT, too! Rode over a hundred miles yesterday & really enjoyed it!
Right on. I can dig that. :-)
Yup - totally true. Love that personal message stuff on it as well!
As soon as I read that in the Owner's Manual, I was like "I know what I'm putting on there!" lol
LOL. No doubt.
Thank you for the info! :)
Enjoy your videos, glad to see you riding.
Thank you so much; it's been awhile but we all go through the ups & downs. I'm very happy with this bike.
that is a sweet bike mate, and don't worry about it being DCT, it's getting better and better and I dare say better than most people are at changing gears lol Having a webcam on the bird in the backyard would be awesome to watch!!
Just watched a coyote come through the yard last night on it!
how awesome!!! Like having david attenborough live in the house!!!
great scenery. i used to live in SD. I have a 2015 NC700X DCT. I was thinking of getting the new one, it looks so much better. good review.
It's pretty awesome; I'm having so much fun riding it & it's just a pleasure to flick around, especially with that low COG...so sporty & smooth!
Have had it about 6 months now; love it!
Congrats on the new bike!!!! Great looking bike and a very well made machine as well!!! Ride safe!
Thank you! It is awesome...very smooth, quick and great options for future touring. :)
HOLYSHIT!!you gotta new bike !!! didnt know that untill now ! congrats !!
WheelsNotHeels
shes looking lovely !! i like her to bits ! donno if i could find myself with automatics but if i had same problems as you , i would 4 sure!! better this way then no way !
Congrats on the bike! Glad you found a good match.
Yeah...I'm really digging it! so quick & smooth & very maneuverable!
I'm really glad you found your perfect bike 😀 those baby humming birds were so cute
Haha! Yep...I spent a lot of time outside checking on those little birds and making sure the feeder was full. It was fun to watch them get big. Thanks for the suggestion of the bike...and I did really love the FJ09 you suggested as well. I think the low COG on this was works well for me at this stage.
+WheelsNotHeels I think you chose right, enjoy and have brilliant time 😀
I wish more riders would test ride the DCT before making a comment.
I'm glad you like your bike.
I have the exact same model and put 700 miles on it in the first two weeks.
I also get about 70 MPG.
Yeah! I just took it in this morning for its first service so I have just over 600 miles on it. I just love it!
I love it! ADV bike!!! I actually almost bought one before my Tenere. Congrats and feel better.
Thanks! It feels so planted & love the low COG. Almost got the FJ09 (like a small-version of your Tenere) but got this instead. I'm loving it!
Great bike, had the first one.Still regret selling it.The NC dose so many things well plus the storage in the tank is huge. Enjoy your bike.
Yep...loving all that storage that I can lock up! Thanks for stopping by; I really like it!
Glad you still have the Honda Ian, for a moment I thought you sold your bikes. :)
No worries mate, they are not worth commenting on. LoL.
Thanks, Ian! Yeah, the changes are really great and don't worry about not posting any vlogs...I've deleted many!!!
Congratulations on you new bike. I love it! My left hand likes to fall a sleep. The DCT helps with that.
Thanks, Steph...was wondering what you'd say! I just love this bike; it's so much fun & I don't miss the clutch at all! :)
Now you have two clutches! Lol. I dont think that was offered by me when I bought the CTX. I would have got it.
I like both this and the CTX...both are so much fun.
Congrats on your new bike. I personally think this is a cool bike..love that Frunk........
Thank you! That frunk holds so much stuff!!! I've had to organize things so I don't have to go digging around for every little thing! lol!
Congrats on the new bike. Seems like a great multipurpose bike, and Honda is quite a reliable brand that makes durable bikes.
Looks good to me...and if it suits you, enough said.
Enjoy!!!!!
Thanks, AB...at this point, it's just been a pleasure to ride & yeah, enjoying it very much!
Great review on the bike, I forward to riding mine this summer with my own review on the bike...
Thanks, RE! I like it so much! And not having as much fatigue is awesome. I showed my hb your vids on your trip through the Pinetop area.
Very cool! If you decide on luggage, I've seen the NC with Givi Monokey Trekkers, the silver and black are a perfect match (mine are the all black). If I can shake loose when you roll through AZ I'll spend a day cruising out with you guys B-)
Yeah, been looking at the Givi Monokey. I like that they are top-loading. They're not cheap but they do look very nice.
For an inexpensive seat solution, check out the Airhawk 2 seat pad. I've had mine on for almost a year now and it really does help the seating on the NC. Congrats on the purchase!
I've been looking at the Airhawk...also the Shad seat. Thanks Sudogj!!
We get the 700X in the States; Europe gets the 750X.
Yeah...probably has to do with stupid regulations and all that. We don't get the 700S either. Sometimes, we don't get the same colors as Europe or Canada. :(
I cannot think of a better all around bike made today. I have the manual trans but the DCT is fantastic.
Thanks! Yeah, I really love riding this bike...suits all my needs!
Awesome bike! Ride safe and have a great day.
Thank you! Appreciate it, Marc!
Thank you for the wonderful video! I've been riding the 2014 ctx700 dct and I'm really thinking about getting the nc700 dct.
+WheelsNotHeels your very welcome! Always good to have a women's point of view on things. I'm trying to start my own moto vlog channel.
Awesome! I'll check it out!
nice!!! ...i love my CTX 700DCT but i think im gonna have to add one of these to my collection also ....great vid!!!
Thank you! It's a great bike!
I think your gonna have a great time touring on your new bike :)
Yeah...can't wait! It's so much fun!!
Sweet ride! Can't wait to cruise with yah. 😁
Yeah! I'm ready! :)
Great video, I can't wait to get mine :)
The UK model is a little bit different, it as a LED headlight on the 2016.
Loving the Hummingbird segment.
Oh, nice!!! I wish mine had an LED headlight. Thanks a lot for your comments & I'm excited for you!
I saw that one on a motorcycle convention and really wanted it.
But then i saw it only had around 50HP and i am used to my 103+HP....little to "girly" for me :P
Love the helmet stash, that is something i really miss, when i go shopping i will never leave my helmet with the bike.
Have fun with it!
Thank you, Renze! It has some great spunk for me...thanks for the great comments!
Very cool :)
Beautiful spot for the reveal too, Ride safe!
Thanks, Cranky! I'm really enjoying it. As for engine braking, yes. As soon as you let off on the throttle or trail brake with the rear OR manually hit the downshift paddle shifter, it happens very smoothly and quickly.
Congrats. They haven't got the 2016 model here yet so I haven't seen it in person. Looks good on video.
Yeah...snagged this JUST OFF the crate because there aren't many around here either! It's a blast!
Awesome! Thanks!
Thanks for the information!!! I'm getting mine hopefully this week. :)
Yeah! AWesome!
Ride safe.
Yes, those padded cycling shorts are very helpful! Thanks for The comment!
Glad to be of help. ENJOY!
The only thing I wish it had was color. lol
hey wheels! i LOVE that bike. if id had the money when i was looking i wanted that baby. the gas mileage is sick like my 250 ninja, i know it had to be different getting use to no clutch, but that bike is sweet girl! i know you gonna have fun with it. errytime i see a phoenix edition i thought of your old bike, lol. i had to come visit and see what youre up to these days, im glad youre still havin fun on 2!
oh, and cool save for the baby hummer! how awesome they are to be so tiny!
Hey, Tina! Thank you! Yeah, I'm really liking this bike...so much fun!
Congrats and I agree that the bike is outstanding. Get crash bars and skid plates
Thanks a lot...appreciate it!
Nice Bike !!
Looking forward to getting one
OR a Honda CTX 700.
My Grandson has the NZ700X (2015) (automatic). He likes it a lot. He Rides well and it is a fast Bike too.
Yeah! It's such a great bike! I love it!
nice I love the new bike and when I can afford one I will get the 2016 model, thanks for the great review and look no bad language thanks. 😃
Thanks for your kind words! I really like this bike and all the options and good gas mileage it provides. Very spirited and so fun!
Thanks so much...your words just really made my day!
Well done! I really enjoyed your video. Very informative and helpful.
Thanks...I appreciate you saying that! :)
Thanks!
Awesome! Happy for you! Yeah, my hb loves his CTX.
Awesome bike and love the view too
Thank you! It's pretty cool!
Ref. your firm perch, may I suggest this remedy, half inch layer of medium density foam, glue it to the leather side of a small fleece of sheepskin, strap it atop your saddle as nicely and securely as you can. It can look classy, prevents stickybum syndrome and it tells the world that you're not a nutty Knee-slider. Other than that, I hope your day goes well, cheers.
Hey, thanks for the tips!
Great bike👍 very handy compartment, like the old Suzuki Accross😎
Yeah and to be able to lock the frunk is awesome. Thanks!
I love your new bike !!!!
Thank you! I rode over a hundred miles yesterday just had a blast!
I had both a motorcycle and a scooter. To be honest, I love riding a scooter more. Especially during downtown traffic. I'm kind of sad that I sold it.
lol, I get so much crap for my scooter but like you said there are many reasons one might have for choosing this bike. both of my hands have joint pains and the NC700 would surly make it on my upgrade wish list. cool review.
Thank you so much for your kind words. Everybody has their own issues so you do what's right for you. ;)
If your trip to Arizona brings you anywhere close to Page, a must see is Lower Antelope Canyon. It will cost you a arm and a leg to get in but worth every penny!
Thanks for the tip...I'll look it up! That area looks really nice!
Exactly! Thanks for the support & comments! Yeah, it's nice to have such a wide variety of motorcycle options.
So what do you not like about this bike after owning it for a while?
Thank you for your insights. Great review, I want one. I have been looking at these for several years. I am concerned about the seat height being to tall for me.
Thanks for the nice comments. As for the seat height, I'm 5'9" and we put lowering links on the bike and now I can flat-foot, no problem. If you're in San Diego, let me know and I'll let you check it out. I might possibly be looking at another bike so it just might go up for sale. ;)
WheelsNotHeels what bike are you looking at?
Oh, ouch...sorry to hear that! You stay safe out there!!!
Hi and WOW! Congrats with the Honda *wheelie*... you sold the kawasaki or just getting it for sundays? ;))
CONGRATS with a "bulletproof" bike.
Congrats on the new bike! Ride what you like not what some keyboard warrior says. Enjoy it and ride safe!
Thanks! I plan on it, for sure. It is a blast to ride!
Like you, I really like the frunk and thus giving this bike a lower center of gravity...I can put so much stuff in the frunk, like food, because I need food available to me all the time! lol!
Girl thats a cool bike, i do not like haters, at tall! Like my boy Chris and Mike say ride watcha like i ride with anyone on anything! Ride safe!
Thanks, CountryBoy! Yeah, that's why I really like their channels because they are open minded, great motovloggers & super nice peeps.
