They can get an impaction of sand in the tummy. I was told that I should use nonadhesive shelf liner in the bottom of the cage. I think it's easier to clean and then you don't have to worry about them getting impactions. I own 3 bearded dragons now. They are all doing great. I'm also temporarily taking care of my daughter's adult beardie, Groot. Your beardie is adorable and I love your setup! Looks great!

I use peel and stick flooring on 1/2 and an absorbent bathmat on the other half of my enclosure and it is so much easier to keep Clean

Would a bearded dragon live on shelf liner in the wild? they love to dig therefore sand is a great choice. Poor husbandry causes impaction, I.e bad lighting/heat

@Tom Baxter Oh my goodness please don't spread that ignorant informatiom sand is never an option whatsoever for a bearded dragon I really hope you don't have a bearded dragon that is a scary thought

@@mirandagarrett4231 Not sand as such, but a loose substrate. For example ProRep beardie life which is a mixture of sand and soil which mimics the beardies natural environment.

@@tombaxter3286 It doesn't matter what you guys come up with from my pet store order online it is not going to be the same substrate and in reality it's more of rocks that are in their environment I don't know where this sand thing came about

Eating sand can be deadly for them, that's why most informed people don't go with it, just be careful! Lovely little guy

Ellie's and Lord Elion are 2 of the good people who know what they are talking about when it comes to your dragons. About 1 month ago I thought something was wrong with my dragon so I took him to the hospital and it cost me $333.79 and they said he was in perfect health.

Switch to dubia roaches crickets have basically no nutrition and The roach is can be delivered straight to your front door and girl when I tell you I have never received a dead one and they rarely die on me it was such a big change I was used to buying crickets for my baby bearded dragon I would pay for 200 really get a 100 if that and then the next day 20 would be dead it was a life changer

If your baby dragon won't eat non-living food - feed it to the crickets. this gut-loads the crickets and your dragon will get the nutrition that way. Crickets are very carnivorous, so that is not a problem.

When you don't want your crickets to die, dehydrated get a few paper towels and was them up and put water on them that way they won't drown and crickets are known for carrying parasites.

The best way to hold them is support the whole body and half of the tail cause if it happens to jump and falls they have a lot of bones in the tail and they break easily. There's a lot of good videos on UTube and they are really helpful.

Is it a boy or a girl? May I ask you what you are using on the floor that is orange? I love watching them catching crickets and roaches.

They need a wide variety of live insects. Crickets alone aren't too healthy

Have you fed the dragon any small dubias roaches yet? They are so much better for them and have a lot more protein in them and you can keep them alive a lot longer I was getting them from Rainbow worms a lot cheaper!!

The next day my beardie went into brumation so that is why she was acting a little funny not eating hardly anything and sleeping a lot. So next time I will know.

Who told you that it's a girl? It is very hard to tell the sex at that age. But I can tell you how to tell if you are not really sure.

gender is really easy to tell. Use a flash light on the base of their tail and look through it to see the bone structure. Bone structure in the pelvis and tail are different for the different genders. Super easy to tell when they're babies. There are a few youtube videos about it from different breeders.
