I am from Australia and as a kid my friend's mother loved Shingleback lizards so much she had over 20 living with them they didn't have enclosure for them so the lizards would walk around the house, her mother would take them outside to get some sun, if you saw her mother outside in the garden there was always lizards with her, us kids called her The Lizard Lady.
That’s fire bro
I aspire to be this lady
Shinglebacks are gorgeous. What a dream
Omg i love this story-
That’s awesome! Just walkin’ around the house! 🎉
my soon to be 8 year old son has been begging for a bearded dragon after holding a baby beardie and falling in love with it. This sounds like SO MUCH WORK. Thanks for all the info. I'm going to have him wait until he's older and can be more responsible for its daily care and feedings. I can't believe you even have to feed the food. Very admirable for you to do so much work.
Omg thank u so much I’m gettin a bearded dragon and I’ve literally been binging ur videos 😭
Me too

even after she said educate yourselves further than her videos lol.

Diluted white vinegar works also for cleaning the tank, just make sure it's completely dry before placing you dragon inside it's tank.

She is a snuggly little lady! ❤
Thanks for your information, you are very knowledgeable and give alot of great information. But really love to hear you talk,,,, I'm from New England and I love your accent.
It's so cute how she is holding your fingers 😆🥰
I just love 💗 bearded dragons ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I am so grateful to have found this video! I just brought my baby beardie home and I thought I was prepared but NOPE! I thought he liked me, I pet his head and he closes his eyes but then I read it means he’s scared. I want him to be happy and feel so so safe with me.
i don’t think it means he’s scared, just a bit uncomfortable. a lot of beardies don’t like head petting, mine doesn’t. try stroking the torso instead :)
Such a pretty and upbeat young lady. Love that southern accent!
Tysm I have a baby beardie his name is draco I know it's common but now I know what to do!!!
I'm glad the video was helpful 🥰
your vids are so awesome. Unbelievable amount of knowledge!!! You have been super helpful because I am getting a dragon for my daughter for Christmas....have a great holiday.....I subscribed

Thank you for the tips😃.
You're very welcome! 😊
I appreciate it 😊
Omg thank you for all this information! I have a friend that doesn't really want their bearded dragon anymore and doesn't wanna take care of it and I'm trying to convince them to let me take it off their hands. This is really helpful
This comment is 2yrs ago, how did it go???

Your videos help so much thank you! I literally got my bearded dragon yesterday and have been binging videos about everything definitely subscribed!
I'm so glad they helped you out, and congrats on the new beardie! 🎉
@@ellesreptiles thank you! I’ve been having trouble with her I explained it in your dm hope you can help!😩have her for 4 days now
Amazing 😁
I always provide my 3 beardies with a water dish for them to soak in which they do very much. Luckily I don’t have an issue with the humidity since my room is the warmest in the house and with a lot of air flow.
Thank you very much! My 9 year old niece just got a baby and I'm a vet tech, but do not work with Exotics. This video gave me a ton of information. Unfortunately I won't be there all the time to make sure things are done properly, but I can get everything she needs. Again thank you for the information.
I'm glad the video helped! 😊
I use playsand with top soil with about half inch of decomposed granite and they do very well on it no impaction, and they have dug burrows(eventhough hides have been provided)
My first and only Beardie, seems to love ur UA-cam channel,.... Shout out to my little Ms.Dahlia
danks :)
Thank you so much for this video!! I'm going to be getting a baby bearded dragon in the next couple weeks so I've been doing as much research about them. And this video helped me gain more knowledge on baby dragons.
Vinegar and water make a safe and effective cleaner
The tube uvb lights are now 1 year for Arcadia and zoomed
Yes!thank you so much for bringing up shelf liners. I have a full grown beardie that I have had for a year now, and we tried a lot of different kinds of substrates until we discovered shelf liners while shopping around. Nobody had ever recommended them and now me and my beardie love the cheap, safe and just all around great option😄 we also had MASIVE issues with crickets getting underneath substrate, and you can stick the shelf liners down around the edges and change ....maybe every 2 to 3 months. Also has easy clean up! Would recommend 👌
Shelf liner releases fumes when heated and doesn’t offer any burrowing enrichment, which is very important for beardies. I strongly recommend switching to a suitable loose substrate. A deep layer of a soil/playsand/clay mix is ideal :)
@@nightinggale6470 That is not ideal for smaller beardies because it has a risk of respiration.
@@wanderingoldsoul420 if you mean impaction: Impaction is caused by improper husbandry, not loose substrate. As long as their husbandry is correct (temps/heating, hydration, etc.) a healthy animal will be able to pass loose sub no problem. They live on loose terrain in the wild, they’ve evolved to be able to handle it.
omg girllll i love your app
Thank you!... What app? 😅
Nice vid
wow first person I have seen mention a third eye, google seems to verify, nice one Elle.
You have helped me so much now I know things that I would’ve never new and would possibly be a problem I’m getting a beardie soon is there anything else I should know before getting one?
Thank you so much for sharing this! We just got a beardie about 2 weeks ago and we are trying to make sure that she is happy and healthy! We got her at Petsmart and she looks really good but we have been going through the stress stage these last few days. Which other supplement did you say to use in the video? I understood the calcium but I didn't see the other one. Again thank you so much! I really appreciate it and its nice to find someone who knows their stuff! So many people out there who don't know what they are talking about!
For future reference please don’t buy animals from PetSmart, they get their animals from mills and are not a good company to support. You need a multivitamin without d3 as well as the calcium.
I like your southern accent, and the way you say thangs lol
I’m thinking about getting a bearded dragon :)
I am new to this and researching. Everything I have read etc said do not put babies in large tanks. Thank you for clearing that up. Would like to avoid constant upgrades if possible. In the video you said typically not but this was two years ago and wasn’t sure if opinions changed
My best friend just surprised me with a juvenile bearded dragon and I was not prepared. Fortunately I had an old 50 gallon fish tank. Getting it as ready as possible
Keep in mind that he’ll soon need to be upgraded to a 4x2x2’ enclosure bare minimum, and bigger is strongly recommended (many people believe the minimum should be 5x2x3’).
i love your hair
Thank you! 😊
New viewer. Great content! You from the South?
Can you do a video on supplementing juvenile bearded dragons specifically and why each supplement is important/what it does?
Calcium is necessary for the health of their bones (and to prevent MBD). Multivitamins are also necessary for their health. Supplements should be without d3 since they’ll get all the d3 they need from their UVB. Reptifiles has a good care guide with more information.
A 40 gallon is the bare minimum for babies and reptisoil is absolutely safe along with other proper loose substrates for bearded dragons of all ages
Can I put my baby right into a 4x2x2??
@@dm2836 as long as it is cluttered
@@marks_reptiles_and_inverts Thank you, I did exactly that! Saved me from having to store the 4x2x2 until they grew up!
A neither great video. My beardy I got in October last year is about 10 months old now and does not miss a meal and absolutely loves her salads eats the hole thing. I don't do fruit very often maybe once a week. Has been so much fun watching her grow it had been years sents I had one. Has been in 2 different size tanks and ready to move into much bigger one just have to finish the air vents seal the wood and put on doors. Thank you for all you do for the reptile world. 😃💖
GOD BLESS
P.s. Think I will do the tile. What did you put between the tile?
That's fantastic! 🥰
In smaller tanks I usually don't put anything, so I can just pull the tiles out and clean them. But since Zsasz's tank is much bigger, I used grout. 😊
@@ellesreptiles Thank you my do that to grout it.😃👍
My beardie died suddenly at only a year old. I've been researching about how he could've died, and I used reptile carpet. Maybe it had something to do with parasites but he didn't seem sick before he died at all, we really don't know what happened to him. But I got a new baby beardie and I'm hoping to take better care of him
One thing about the reptile carpet, their nails can get stuck in it so that may have happened and got infected or something. I'm not entirely sure but I'm using ground walnut sand for my beardie. Local pet stores should have them and it's easier for them to ingest it rather then having normal sand. The risk is just lower. Just a heads up :)
Thank you, I'll look into some other options
I'm getting a baby beardie next weekend and I'm super excited! I decided to name them Bramble because well.. Why not? I'm looking forward to having a reptile who likes to be out during the daytime unlike my other animals (leopard geckos and frogs).
Edit: I'm going to the all maryland reptile expo. :3
Congrats on the (soon to be) new beardie! 🎉 and have fun at the Maryland reptile expo!!!
@@ellesreptilesThanks! I've had him for a while now and I have a 120 gallon tank coming in for him this week! He eats everything I give him (but he really hates spinach)! He's pretty spicy, but we have a special bond. He likes the outdoors so I take him for walks :)
Elle's Reptiles, bearded dragons are popular, but can you do another video on your opinions on owning venomous, poisonous reptiles and amphibians?
Just got a bearded dragon have a 14 day return period don't know much about em so I'ma binge this shit and learn as much as I can and if I feel as if I can't take care of him back to the store he goes I want him to have the best life possible but I'm damn sure gonna try my hardest to learn all about it in this period and I see no reason why I wouldn't be able to do it if I can follow instructions
Recommendations for breeders to buy from?
I have had two bearded dragons but I had to get rid of one because she got sick she was very old and the other one with a rescue he was already 10 when we got him and he lived with us for three years I am crying right now his name was Thorn and he was beautiful dragon I miss him every day and I was crying yesterday because I missed him.
Hi! I was never interested in reptiles until I literally found one on the side of the road yesterday near an elementary school. He is full grown so I have no idea how old he is. I took it to Petsmart and got all of the things. I am a little concerned about lighting so im going to go watch your video on lighting. Right now he has a uvb and basking light but it doesn’t stretch the full length of his 40 gallon tank.
Please up grade to a 75 gal tank, 40 is not big enough.
@@samantharice4002 thank you! I’ll try to find one.
You should try sand paper my class pet was a geared dragon and she loved it ☺
That’s not a suitable substrate. A deep layer of a soil/sand/clay mix is best, burrowing enrichment is extremely beneficial for beardies!
I love finding new youtube people! Elle's Channel has definitely become a new favorite. Just got a bany bearded dragon, i had one almost 12yrs ago. Its fun getting back into a hobby and re-researching on youtube and finding new channels to watch. The reptile toutube community has blown up over the years and im just getting caught up
Welcome to the channel, and congrats on your new beardie! 🎉
I love your videos. I have raised many different types of lizards. I have raised green Iguanas, anoles, collard lizard, Sudan plated lizard, and a few other kinds.
So I decided to try my hand at beardie dragons. I bought a baby a few days ago. I have it in a 40 gallon tank with heat and uvb/a. I live in a colder climate so I am using a space heater to raise the temps for night until the ceramic bulbs come.
So I have a question. My baby beardie is eating 10-15 little crickets a day. I am doing feedings three times a day. It is also pooping a lot. Is this good enough? I have noticed the last few days I have had it, it is eating more and more. It actually ate watercress and dandelion greens on its own.
I also hand feed it bugs. I want to help the lizard to learn to trust me. Thanks for all your research. I also ordered Dubai roaches from Dubai dude and I used Elle is the checkout code.
Where do you get those cool backgrounds for your terrariums?
In your video you said the you have to feed you baby bearded dragon in 10-15 min increments and I was wondering if for all those increments do you use calcium? Love your videos
How about setting up with half tile and half carpet? Paper towel in potty area? Hadn’t thought about parasites in carpet. I do like have live plants= succulent, cactus or air plants in the tank, we are trying a bio active crested terrarium.
I dont know what substrite to use for my new beardie
My parents bought calcium sand even tho I told them not to. They got Bc the worker said that calcium sand is good for the bearded dragon and they trusted her over me. But luckily was had left over tile from awhile back. So I put tile over the sand. It covered most the sand but there was a little of sand that stuck out so I used sticks, rocks, etc to cover that but if sand as best I could
Tile isn’t a good substrate, it’s bad for their joints and doesn’t provide the burrowing enrichment they need to thrive. A soil/playsand/clay mix is best.
@@nightinggale6470 I know, I heard about that, but I’m just trying to make the little but of resources I have work. It’s better then just leaving calcium sand though. I do want to get play sand eventually tho
@@simplyghosted1926 when you’re able to switch to a good loose substrate, I don’t recommend using playsand on its own. It doesn’t hold their burrows and can be hard on their joints (since it’s very loose on its own). A soil/playsand/clay mix would be ideal
Hey, try Zen habitat mat. That will probably help you out. Reviews seem legit for the subtract. I wish other companies invest into better mats.
They don’t offer any burrowing enrichment unfortunately, which is extremely beneficial for beardies. A suitable loose substrate mix is best.
Hey there! Just a couple questions. Im planning on getting a baby beardie soon. However, I work full time and will only be able to feed it in the early morning and then when I get home (8hours later) if thats okay? Or should I get an older beardie?
I have a little beardie named Lix and I'm very short and can't reach the top lid to open his enclosure so my grandfather broke the front glass of the enclosure and made it into a front opening enclosure
