You might be able to spend less on a place. I pay 950 in Burnaby everything included even internet. But I'm in the same boat I don't drink and I don't drive. Got my workout equipment at my place.
Yes, I was thinking about living in Burnaby the next time I move back to Vancouver. It's more affordable, close to everything, and not too many homeless people compared to the West End.

Thank you Adam. Very enlightening and enjoyable. From my lens as a retired cop who is still working I think we could have some interesting chats. Cheers from the west end!!!
I watch a lot of budget videos (yes for SO to Graham Stephan) so interesting that this came into my feed. I've lived in Vancouver since 1998 so have been through the very crushing changes. I lived in mt pleasant for over 20 yrs but can't afford it anymore. For what it costs for a ground floor in most areas (had break in issues so it's a no and am over years of 3 am stomping) in Marpole i scored a penthouse! It likely won't last long but it's amazing to have a giant, private rooftop patio. I worked freelance as a designer for private companies for years and, though i did cool stuff (over very long hours) i was extremly underpaid and it lead me to losing my home in a fire with no insurance. Yeah. So i took a job as a cog at a big corporation and only NOW after 5 yrs there, do i make what you make! I am a master at being poor from how I used to live and manage to save 30% of my income even though my rent is half my pay. Aside from that: no car, no meat or dairy (or eggs though of all they're the cheapest), few convenience foods, eat out rarely, see friends once a week, don't spend much on clothes, walk A LOT, and have minimal subscriptions. It's good that you're aware and, i'm guessing, saving up. I hate my job but, coupled with my vast knowledge of scraping by, have managed to start making up for lost time in savings. A surviving Vancouver guide and content are cool to run into. Look forward to more content!
I live in Denver, CO USA and it’s pretty expensive here. Housing and rents are pretty astronomical. I am seriously figuring out how I can move to the Vancouver area and I’ve been watching your videos to get a better idea of what it’s like. Sadly I would take a bit of a pay cut if I moved but I can’t wait to see your content on single people living in that area :)

I’m planning on moving to Vancouver in like a year-year and a half and living in an apartment with my boyfriend who lives there... oh boy I gotta learn how to start cooking
I was spending 4-5 k a month in 2019, but was there for only a few. Can't and don't want to live in Van all year round actually. 29th floor sub penthouse next to BC place was awesome and a Personal Trainer at $40 bucks with a fitness centre in the building, food and groceries were like 1000-1500 plus weed + car rental. I spent 15 K in 3 months. Had a blast and left in Oct 2019 and never returned since. Right now at a Tropical Destination in South Asia. FML 😁😎

Brilliant video man, but hey, u don't need gym or spotify 'just to be alive' in vancouver, there r always free alternatives. I do home workouts and they r equally effective, i watch videos and movies online so don't even need netflix. That's extra money saved for a rainy day right there :)
I live in one of the cheapest cities in Canada, i pay $725/mnth in rent for a whole 1 bedroom apartment (no roommate), my car insurance is insane but that's because of an accident, but other then that I can live on about $250/wk plus about $350 for recurring expenses
I did a very simple and quick break down of driving to and from work. I live in coquitlam, its about a 20 minute Drive downtown to my job. Its about $10 in gas and $14 a day to park. $24 a day. Just to work. it costs me almost $500 a month to be employed in this city 😂
I am interested to know how different these numbers might look if you lived in the surrounding areas like Burnaby/Coquitlam/Richmond.... Am considering moving there
Can relate to hating grocery shopping. I try to go just once a month and maybe get bits like milk in between. Love that even though your income bracket is wwaaaay higher than mine your days are quite relatable, thought you'd be coping a tesla or two 😂

Love the video. I don't normally comment on videos but I've got a question, I'll be moving from MTL to Van for an animation gig downtown. I'm hoping to get some bjj in and a gym my buddy is recommending me is in Burnaby. Since I think we'll be working from home for most of the show, do you have a suggestion for what size an appt should be if both my girlfriend and I have to setup? Thanks for the great content definitely helping me out plan as much I can.
Hey Antoine thanks for the support, glad to help! I would say yes to Burnaby as a good suggestion. For the size of the apartment obviously bigger is better, but it will depend on your budget on what you can get. You most likely won't be able to both have your own offices. If your budget is around $1800 you will be able to get a nice 1 bedroom close to 1000 square feet (you would have room to setup desks in the main living area). If your budget is higher around $2300 you could most likely get a 2 bedroom where then you could have a dedicated office. Hope that answered some things !!

Brilliant video man, but hey, u don't need gym or spotify 'just to be alive' in vancouver, there r always free alternatives. I do home workouts and they r equally effective, i watch videos and movies online so don't even need netflix. That's extra money saved for a rainy day right there :)
I live in Hawai`i (Downtown Honolulu) and 1BR here is $1,400/mo.
I live in one of the cheapest cities in Canada, i pay $725/mnth in rent for a whole 1 bedroom apartment (no roommate), my car insurance is insane but that's because of an accident, but other then that I can live on about $250/wk plus about $350 for recurring expenses
Lemme say montreal?
Very Funny and helpful thank you for making vids
I did a very simple and quick break down of driving to and from work. I live in coquitlam, its about a 20 minute Drive downtown to my job. Its about $10 in gas and $14 a day to park. $24 a day. Just to work. it costs me almost $500 a month to be employed in this city 😂
yep things like those really get ya loll
I am interested to know how different these numbers might look if you lived in the surrounding areas like Burnaby/Coquitlam/Richmond.... Am considering moving there
Quite similar I would say, just lower rent by a few hundred dollars 👍😄
Can relate to hating grocery shopping. I try to go just once a month and maybe get bits like milk in between.
Love that even though your income bracket is wwaaaay higher than mine your days are quite relatable, thought you'd be coping a tesla or two 😂
Yeah shopping ain't for me 😂
The Teslas are in the plans! just not yet haha
@@AdamJBell it's much better if you go for a BMW though just a suggestion .
Awesome video , kinda funny too 😄 😀 now u know why ur car insurance is high running red lights 😆 🤣 anyways I moved from Vancouver to Calgary Alberta 2 years ago cause I only pay one Tax and Vancouver got too expensive for me after college
Awesome video! Keep it up
Best city I ever lived in.
So glad I found this channel 😁 In which studio you're working at? I'm 3D artist too,😁
Oh awesome! Working at IGG Canada for the last while! 😄
Bro these videos are clean
nice chill-vibe content 👌
very helpful
Is your dayjob a 3d modeler/artist?
is the videogame industry in Vancouver as good as Montreal?
also thanks to youtube algorithm i found your channel.
i was planning to apply for a job in Ubisoft, EA or any game studios in Canada in the future.
I'm interested in the family/couple guide!! Where to find it??
Hallow am Vancouver but I use 40 days ur. Budget
Ayyy get that bag king 👏🏾💯
we tryin we tryin 🔥
My only question is - if you split a one bedroom apartment with a roommate, who gets the bedroom?
Loving this content. 👍
Glad to hear! 💯
6:00 damn Celtics beat heat in 7 lol
Hey I would like to ask how you got a job in Canada especially for tech, I’m a masters student from the uk and I’m looking to move there too!!
I caught a red-light in dubai were i live. The ticket was 2000 CAD. No im not joking or exaggerating. 5,500 AED (Dubai currency)
Excellent informative video
Thanks Tausif !
good info, thanks.
Glad to help David 💯
Блин есть тут люди из стран СНГ ? Потому что я фигею ... От цен ... хотя если зарабатывать так же как и они, то выжить можно 👌с 50к долларов в месяц еххехехех . I like your videos Adam , you making my life more easier in perspective of finding information 👍
Wow, you pay for rent in a week more than I make money in a month. I mean, I live in a developing country so obviously my expenses are waaaay lower, but still that's crazy!
Many thanks for your useful videos.
I have a question out of your topics, would you please help me our guide , I have to open an shipping line in Vancouver, but I don't know how new company introduce themselves to others there.
In our country we have minestry (road, air line , shipping line) and association of them ... They have lists of companies and we here have contact to each other.
OR we have some magazine to advertise there .
My question is , How is in your country? If you have any information , that would be all of your kindness to share.
Thank you
Ugh. Life is expensive....... That's why I try to make more money behaving different hustles. Not just 1 job. Living in Vancouver here as well.
What about health insurance, education, pension, investments and saving for vacations? 🥳
I see you didn't get a reply. I think your question is beyond him at this stage of life.... he's still quite young. I always say hindsight is 20/20 . I think he is doing really well, even if he wasn't making 60 a year.... his thinking is nice to see for 21 years old.
health care is free
@@ScarlettTaylorcomedy I also found out a person with a lower income can pay for a provincial dental program at $499.00 annually; that is something Ontario lacks.
Ontario and BC are quite comparable.... BC is by far more beautiful.
I'm looking to move. BC isn't having Bilingualism ruining an English person's ability to find employment.... covid makes it harder being asthmatic since I cannot wear a mask. If I get the opportunity to move I will. Just need a safe neighborhood in a good location.
@@dawnb2892 The only place you'll have an issue without French is ottawa. From there moved to Toronto a few years ago. Thats cool about the dental thing though
@@dawnb2892 Also you can wear a mask is you have asthma, im a covid screener. By not wearing a mask you are putting yourself in more danger. Unless you have a note from the government you are required to wear a mask. its uncomfortable, I get. Its really annoying and difficult to breathe. I would recommend a medical mask if anything.
Super content !
Thanks Sachin! 👍
Where is the Millennial money tag on the title . @grahamstephan need to review this
I actually have a Full Millennial Money I made a few months back! Haha
I doubt Graham reacts to anything of mine, but that would be insane for sure !!
Come to România! You can buy a one bedroom flat with 20k🙂, a nice house 3,4 bedroom with 100k🙂😋
Tempting haha !
@@AdamJBell just give a search for curiosity Bistrița, România and lake Colibita which îs near The City, about an hour by car🙂
Thank you 😊
Happy to share Alireza! Working on the next video currently ~~
Smart. Did that before.
Spending on Spotify, gifts and computer softwares doesn't count expenses you incur in Vancouver as everyone doesn't spend on it and its not Vancouver specific.
@@ItstheLegend27 in his video at the start he says how much it might cost for somebody for the entire week to live in Vancouver. So the title of the video doesn’t matter.
Thank you very much
Hello Adam PLEASE SHARE THE WEBSITE TO apply for a security job in vancouver . I'll be soon travelling as a student next month for my MBA IN UNIVERSITY CANADA WEST in Vancouver House.
You pay the same amount as me when I crashed my Audi 2x, that's absolutely bull crap.
Yeah it's honestly the worst part of living here for me... I'm not one to complain, but it's a tough one ://
Where did you found that rent? I will move to Vancouver soon and I need some advance.
Pad mapper, Fcaebook marketplace and Zumper are good options!
Maybe I didn’t catch why, but how come you have to pay $437 a week just for existing in Vancouver? Is that for taxes?
I guess I'm not doing too badly then, I average around 3k a month as well which includes a mortgage and all the related insurance, maintenance fees etc - but I'm in the burbs though :P
Especially nice with a mortgage in there! I try to keep mine around 2k most months!
It’s hard to get a job? Where is better to live in whistler or Vancouver for the cost of living and employment?🙏
