    Weather is the most important thing to me whenever I travel or move somewhere new, mainly because I am not a fan of the cold! And that is exactly why I live in Vancouver. In this video I answer questions such as; Does it rain a lot in Vancouver? How much does it rain in Vancouver? Is Vancouver cold? Does it snow in Vancouver? Is Vancouver warm? and many other questions. I also created a chart you can find within this video that shows what you can expect from the weather every single month.
    If you are someone looking to find out more "insider knowledge" from someone who lives in Vancouver, make sure to Subscribe as I have a Vancouver based video every week!
    A lot of people ask me things like; Should I move to Vancouver? Is Vancouver expensive? How much does it cost to live in Vancouver? Does it rain a lot in Vancouver? Is Vancouver a good place to live? etc.. and I have an entire Vancouver Playlist of videos where I answer all of these other questions.

    For someone who really love rainy season I think this place is for me! There was a time at school, I exclaimed “wow such a nice weather today” everyone looked outside and weather was cloudy and rainy and so gloomy. So they just gave me a weird look. 😅

    I'm from Vancouver, and it's actually sunny right now. I'm not a huge fan of rain, but a lot of rainy days are on off rain so it's not always wet. I hate the winter when everything is dark and gloomy, but it doesn't rain much during the summer.

    Love love Vancouver. Started there 40 years ago & now retired banker from Toronto. Moving back soon. Adam is 100% correct. Rain is pretty much the same anywhere else. Drizzle not pouring rain. Air is always clean. Clean streets. Price wise, it’s shows the qualities I travelled around for years .... no place like HOME... Vancouver.

    Thank you Adam for this i have heard tons about the weather and i decided to compare my current city (NYC) with Vancouver. NYC has fewer sunnier days than Vancover and about the same rainfall amount. The idea of not too cold and not too hot while still having 4 seasons is appealing to me

      where are you getting your information from? nyc averages over 225 days per year of sunshine while vancouver averages only 143. seattle gets more sunny days than vancouver so there is no comparison to nyc.

    Thé weather was just perfect. Sunny the whole week I was there. A bit of rain two evenings and that was it. Temperature ranged from 10 to 17 degrees Celsius. In December !!
    Walking in amazingly beautiful Stanley Park just did the trick as well as a day of skiing in Whistler.
    I’d definitely moved to Vancouver... maybe I was lucky w the weather, been told.

    I think I choose snow over rain....lol I live in Toronto and it gets pretty cold but I'd rather have really hot summers than mild winters. After having lived in Vancouver for a few years now, and as someone who loves the outdoors, I honestly consider Vancouver weather as a complete non-issue. Even ad Adam talked of many days streak of rainfall, it is impossible that it rains for so many days without respite. And, rainy days doenst mean it rains throughout the day, just that it may rain for a few hours in the day. Its quite common that many days may start as rainy, but weather often turns better in the afternoon. I go for long cycle rides 2-3 times a week, and i have never had a time in 2 years that the weather has stopped me from enjoying the outdoors. Even during peak 'rainy' seasons, you inevitably find dry and sunny spots to ride. Another thing is that Vancouver receives about 1500mm of rainfall in a year, but because it is spread throughout the year, the intensity of rainfall at any given time is again is very weak. I have lived in places where it rains 4000mm a year and most of which falls in just 3 months, so the rain intensity in Vancouver is like a non-issue

    • @bobbbxxx
      @bobbbxxx Рік тому

      No, people won't say rain intensity is the issue; it's the number of dark overcast days, with drizzle, mist, light rain or steady rain. It adds up to comparable total rain numbers from other cities, but those may get 2 inches of rain in a couple of days due to deluges from thunderstorms. That is different from Vancouver's situation. There likely won't be any rain this week leading up to Christmas as it is way too cold for rain.

  • @bobbbxxx
    @bobbbxxx Рік тому

    As we head into the second cold snap this season in Vancouver (and it's not Christmas yet), and headed for the second snow falls, it looks like it is going to be a subzero week before Christmas, just like it was last year. Vancouver is milder than all Canadian cities east of it, but snow and cold is not as "rare" as people say! ;)

      This is May 31/21and warm - I live in Vancouver most of my life. As for rain - there are many different types which are a slight drizzle, On/Off, not too much of a down pour and showers which are 100%, so it could rain several hours and stop for awhile and start again and cloudy. The weather station says rain and if it just rains 15 minutes then it's reported and counted as a whole day. When the news says 60% rain - it is not the whole city but around different areas, so you maybe one of the lucky ones that escapes it. I experienced many times because I go golfing and if it says 60% - I have never been rained on. Specific areas near the mountains will get rained more often. Right now it's been sunny and it will be a high of 28 deg.C This year there was not much rain and we are on water restriction for sprinkling the lawns which will stretch from March into September. Hope this helps.

    I have lived in Vancouver my whole life. I dislike rain and clouds so I personally do not like the weather here. Depending on the year you get about 3 or 4 months of decent weather. It’s not much better anywhere else in Canada because I dislike being cold. Currently I am on vacation and it is raining and that is the forecast for the remainder of my holiday. It has been either cold or raining for the last 7 months.

    Excellent detailed video, thanks again Adam! Your opinion on- 'can one manage cycling to work with rain cover jacket + trousers + water resistant boots throughout winters?'
    I understand it will be tough, but also getting a feeling that it doesn't rain cats and dogs mostly. So occasionally when rain is intense, one waits out few minutes. As it becomes drizzle, off we go cycling with rain cover on! Wishful thinking?

      Thanks for the support Pulkit!
      To answer your question, I would not say you would be comfortable cycling every single day. Even though the rain is not like a storm, you would still most likely get very very wet some days!

    Great video Adam. I've lived in both Montreal and Ottawa and they are very cold grey cities in the winter. Yes we get some sun but then its usually minus 20 or worse. We have hot humid summer where July and August can see days in the 30s. Looking forward to visiting Vancouver in March and seeing the blossoms. That happens in Ottawa in late May, just saying.

      This is May 31/21and warm - I live in Vancouver most of my life. There are lots of e-scooters, electric bikes, electric cars and bicycles. There are many bike lanes that are separated by barriers through out the city and with an e-scooter your allow to use it. I wanted to move to Vancouver because I thought it was guaranteed snow in the winter. So there aren't many days of snow in Vancouver?

      I live in Vancouver and I have a friend who lives in Singapore - He comes out several times in December and he wanted snow and he never got it - Chances of snow it very slim unless you go up into the mountains which are close by and you are not always guaranteed to get snow.

    important fact, it rains all day? or just a few hours? here in Bogota rains just 2 hours and is a strong rain, and in my natal city it rains all day but a soft rain

      It changes a lot. Some days will rain all day, some only for a few hours, but rarely is it very strong rain.
