@@Ofelas1 There is just not enough housing for people who want to live in this safe and quiet community. We can buy land and lots for next to nothing here. It is actually pretty simple to get land from the crown. The fact that the only houses available are either half destroyed and need thousands of dollars to bring up to living standards or are simply needing to be destroyed makes it not worth it. I own 52 acres on the edge of town but do to the cost of living ( hydro / water / land tax etc ) it is virtually impossible to build a new home. I understand your point but with the fact that land and run down houses cost more then their worth makes it virtually impossible to own your own home in this little town of 250 on a good day.

I'm from Michigan but have always enjoyed visiting Canada and it's people, it breaks my heart to see what's happened to your country due to current leadership, love the video of Poilievre eating the Apple while talking to the media showing just how much respect he has for them
Poilievre will be as bad a Trudeau. our problems started long before the current leader and both the conservatives and the liberals have failed us. The conservatives and the liberals are very similar, i'd even argue they are the same party. they are both bought and paid by large corporations and make their choices based on that. housing costs isn't our problem, its the result of another problem. our problem is wildly unsustainable immigration numbers because it lowers everyone's wages. which benefits big corps who pay their "bonuses". Doug ford promised to fix all kind of stuff in ontario and he has been by far the worse most damaging premiere we've had since Mike harris who is the 2 worst we've ever had, both of them are on the same team on Poilievre. Doug ford has only made things worse so theres no way i can vote for that shit on the federal level.
@mitchb378 You realize the Ontario PCP and the CPC are two separate parties, with their own platforms, leaders, and membership base. There might be some overlap sure, but still two separate parties. Poilievre is the only one who has a chance at beating Trudeau come next election. So unless you want another four years of Trudeau, I’d say vote Poilievre.
@@konstantinosnikolakakis8125 i know they are two different parties but that's like walmart usa and walmart canada being two different companies. really its the same. and i think nearly anyone could beat Trudeau at this point but our voting system is so flawed that Trudeau becomes an option solely because of the flawed system forcing strategic voting. Both the Liberals and Conservatives recently voted against another voter reform legislation. its the only time they cooperate is to make sure our broken system doesn't get fixed so they can keep up their stupid game. All im saying is voting in one liar to eliminate another liar doesn't leave you and i any better off.

As a Niagara falls resident who is losing my home due to interest rates, this one hits close to home. Please bring back some hope to this country Pierre!
You shouldn't have maxed yourself out on a 2% mortgage, thinking that interest rates would be that for 5 years. We have an idiot liberal government printing unlimited money.
This guy is no different, housing in lots of places tripled under Harper, and I believe if you check each province you will find conservatives lifted rent control, ask the landlord Pierre here, he lives in a tax payer funded house while he also holds rental property in a province that Doug Ford lifted rent control , this guy isn’t going to help us.

Justin Trudeau should be the last Prime Minister of Canada. Just because one promises to do better than the other doesn't mean that our current form of government is any less worthless in 2023.
Great message and Right On Point. I seen a clip the other day where Trudeau went up to a citizen who said to Trudeau that you have Ruined Canada, and Trudeau had the gall to confront the gentleman and ask him directly. "How have I ruined Canada" ? I mean if Trudeau has to ask, then he is so completely out of touch that I wouldn't waste my time giving him an answer. However, the gentleman did give him an answer, to which Trudeau did not respond, but instead exited immediately. This is what we get with him. He is right. I work for a large construction company in Vancouver. Just getting the permits takes 3 to 5 years and only then we are allowed to build stuff. Even after the permitting process cities come back to construction companies with ridiculous requests during the construction. They don't want houses to be built and I'm experiencing it 1st hand.
It used to be Competent right away permits. Meaning if you could show a competent plan? They would give you permit authorization on the spot and make sure the Inspections and compliance variance was strict during the building process.
@@mikearchibald-u6g It isn't. We're constructing several high-rise projects, with some of them requiring up to 3 years and others as long as 5 years to obtain a building permit. Can't help but wonder if this is just a single take and we're done type of thing or if there is a director and they're going for this specifically, but whatever the reason, I think it works.
That’s because he is a regular person. He was raised by normal people who make normal amounts of money. Unlike Trudeau, who has never had to pay a bill in his entire life.
Are you addressing Issue or sidestepping the Issue, we are all observing the Core Problem & asking the big question, WHY? but you are not interested to the question Why. are you? it looks like you are taking a cheap swipe @ Pierre.
I’m sorry you don’t consider being a politician as having a job. Let me simplify it for you so maybe you can understand this all a bit better. Would you rather have a recently ex drama teacher build a house for you or would you rather have someone build you a house who started building homes right out of school. The house built by the drama teacher is going to be a complete disaster. Exactly like this country has become under Trudeau. Again 🤦♂️
I know people whose families have called Canada home for generations. Some came here as refugees, others looking for a better life, others are Métis and have connection to Canada before it was named. And now they speak about leaving. Some already have. Entire generations are being robbed of our homes, history, and hope because of poor leadership. And while the excuse is that many of our problems are happening elsewhere as well - that’s the point! Our officials will bend over backwards to follow failing global agendas and interests while turning a blind eye to their own constituents, to the extent that the people don’t feel like they have a voice either. And then as a response we get waves of regulation limiting our voices and what we can hear. We can be thankful for what we have while still acknowledging the unfortunate realities of the times.
4th generation here and I have grandkids, so there are 6 generations of my family here yet I have to plan on retiring in Central America for many reasons, but top of my list are healthcare, affordability, climate sanity, respect for family and religion and where "woke" is not a thing. These things are gone in Canada and I can't bear witness to any more in my old age. I would rather be a poor old lady living by the beach eating mangos than freezing cold and hungry here in Canada.
I bought my Ontario house in the 1980s for $40,000. & I could now get over $500,000.00 if I sold. One big reason is Canadians (not just politicians) have become more left wing. More permits, regulations, taxes, inflation, etc.
So you don't want permits? When we let developers build as they please you get cut corners. History tells us that. You part of the same group that wants to drop child job laws and ditch the minimum wage so we can pay people nothing and have 12yr old back in the mines?
Never vote conservatives for anything. The only item that needs to be conserved is the environment to which the conservatives are opposed of. Other items needs to be advanced and progress must take hold. Through out the world cite me one example that conservatives have done good. If you want the chaos and demagoguery of Trump in Canada then Poilievre is that person. He has neither the skills nor the principle to do good to economic problems facing people. He has gained dexterity in finger pointing over the last 20 years as a career politician. Only anarchists and market wolves will support PP. We do not need anarchists and wolves they need to reside in the jungle.
As an immigrant that has always voted liberal, I am considering voting conservative. However, focus more on solutions vs constantly attacking Trudeau. Yes, Trudeau is partly to blame for the housing crisis but there are other factors as well; let us be objective here. Yes, we all want Trudeau out. I will do some more research prior to elections and the both sides. Regardless, let us not turn our politics into American elections 2.0 and constantly resort to personal attacks. Canadians are smarter and more dignified than that
Canadian citizens should elect this person as Prime Minister. Instead dirty politics and excuses like Trudeau... this leader talk to the point, logical, With fact and figures....
Crying the government is the cause of housing shortage and not the capitalism of housing is a joke. I left an Ontario town because I can't compete against developers buying single family homes for 200k and building townhouses and selling them for 400k. The same developers involved in the conservatives open the green belt scandal.
They can't: they can however put the Conservative Party back in power in the Canadian Congress. They in turn will elect him. Think of the P.M. as the Canadian Speaker of the House of Representatives in the U.S.
Mr. Poilivere, if I were a Canadian citizen, then you would most assuredly have my vote! Thank you for being such a common sense man for our Canadian brothers and sisters!

@@tidelybumsquish There’s literally nothing up north. Don’t you think everybody would be moving up north if there was jobs that could support them? That’s literally the only place in Canada that has “affordable housing”. most Canadians have jobs and family where they currently reside. They shouldn’t have to abandon everything and move up north just to own a home. It’s ridiculous
Until Canadians realize that the current government does not want to build homes because of 'urban sprawl', and want the minions to live in multi unit housing this won't change. The developer likes building these because they can sell more doors per acre of land and the urban planners tell politicians this will stop climate change which also produces more tax payers per acre. When you see a highway jammed with traffic they see 'growth' . The entire problem stems from the belief that building or making almost anything causes climate change. It's not incompetence it's ideology.
Trouble is the profit isn't that way. Single units on postage stamp sized lots offer a way better margin for builders, and the single-family-only zoned areas end up costing the taxpayers money because they never provide enough tax revenue to pay for their infrastructure. Developers (and GCs) are the only ones who profit from that sprawl, while the mid-rises actually help the economy. But no-one wants to live in them because they're all built out of tarpaper and spit in North America, instead of being solid and soundproof. Again, developer margins.
You can build homes without urban sprawl. It requires creative engineering and design in the thousands of empty acres in the middle of the already developed city.
There's nothing wrong with multi unit housing. It's probably the only way forward at speed as well. Population grow estimates have us gaining 10 million people by 2050, thats 370,370 people per year. We have to build that many housing units every year. Just to keep the same supply and demand ratio that we already have. More to make it better. Single family homes won't get us there. They take too long per unit to build even once the red tape is out of the way. Plus then more infrastructure is needed. Realistically we need to build a mix of high and medium density housing that has employment and services on ground floor, along with single family homes around those.
on what basis will he do what he's promising now? he's still promising you of building more prison complexes for young people and seniors, what does anything goes after affordable ever embody glorious? it's always shit. he's not even saying the recently prompted too much people (international students) coming to canada, it's because great replacement is working as planned to replace British common wealth banker colonies' native population unless all u need is a prison cell with luxurious celling and walls and free garbage stuff, it's always been the plan to crowd up and get mix race societies, tbh, he's not even promising getting rid of anyone who's not native population in British common wealth banker colonies, that's lame and rly retarded
When I grew up, my father was a ground worker for the local electrical utility company. Our neighbours were bus drivers, school janitors, meat packers, unskilled construction workers, taxi drivers, corner store owners, grocery clerks, plumbers, carpenters, auto mechanics, auto body workers, city Works Department workers, landscapers and factory workers. They all managed to buy a house, raise 3 to 5 children, provide education, 2 good used cars in the driveway and 75 percent owned summer vacation homes. They never defaulted on a mortgage payment, always payed their taxes and utility bills, never struggled to put food on the table, or to put gas in their cars or heat their homes. Everyone could afford to get away for a vacation for a few weeks per year and the immigrant families often vacationed by returning to their origin countries to visit family every couple of years. This was the reality of the lower-middle-class who worked hard to enjoy a life in Canada. When these people are able to buy a home in Canada again, then Canada will have "affordable homes".

This is your best post !! Can you prosecute the local governments for extortion over building permits? Canada has more land and timber than any other nation and should have the lowest housing costs. Not only is it effecting the housing issue but its destroying the health care system as well. Its unsustainable. Immigration is fine, but immigration run amok like we have now is disastrous! I'm not sure where you live, but where I live you could possibly live with parents and save rent, then after few months just buy a house because I'm sure one can afford down payment for a decent house with 60K

He is so entertaining in Parliament I’ve been watching him ever since. He nails it, has his own philosophy and his wit is like no other. I watched Trudeau win a election and now this next election Pierre is running against him. Pierre is the only one who can beat Trudeau and turn around. He has come far from a year ago on his campaign for PM. Canadians have been so oppressed they don’t trust anyone and I don’t blame them. Pierre has stood up to a lot of scrutiny because of it but he has never shirked and only gets stronger. It will be a BIG celebration when he knocks dictator Trudeau off his Thrown. Ax the carbon tax.
I think immigration is good since Canada had low birth rate pre immigration policies and you need population growth for economic growth. But we have gone too much too fast with these policies. Especially when immigration puts such a burden on taxpayers and also is a demand for housing which is a big problem in Canada. Although with liberals in power this will never happen since that is their voterbase. Hopefully I am wrong but this seems like another NDP-Liberal minority government.

I know of three people recently who’ve chosen to live in tents for the winter(for as long as they can),because they need to be able to afford food, car insurance, has to get to work, and rent in our area(Muskoka)is unaffordable on an average working income. A one bedroom apartment here is $2000 plus utilities, and they are snapped up quickly because there aren’t enough. We have more immigrants being sponsored by companies that help them afford these places, while letting their long time employees go. It just doesn’t make sense. This is not the Canada I grew up in and love. Canadians who have worked tirelessly all their lives and paid their fair share of taxes are being displaced. It’s so disheartening.

Yes, this! Everyone flocks to the busies over populated cities, then complains there is too much demand for housing. There are plenty of smaller cities and large towns, with good infrastructure people should be moving to. Canada is more than just a few big cities.
We need to increase density, not build outwards, but I love my small towns, so yes, I agree, perhaps more transit connections would make small towns more liveable, as it takes away the cost and hassle of driving a car.

I really like that he's addressing this issue. It's huge to those affected. Although I think the challenge will be keeping both sides happy between those who own real estate, and those who would like to. Reading between the lines, what I get out of his solutions will be getting condos and apartments built. That'll keep the value of detached houses up, while still providing affordable housing to those that need it. Housing will be affordable, houses still won't be. Justin Trudeau should be the last Prime Minister of Canada. Just because one promises to do better than the other doesn't mean that our current form of government is any less worthless in 2023.
Expect him to change things for the worst.
This video is very deceptive.
I hope he's the real thing. If he is, he will be a great prime minister. Good luck, Pierre. I would vote for you if I were Canadian.

He actually identifies problems, the causes, and puts forth solutions instead of running on 'We're not the other guy!' like the Democrats do here.
Well, I have had quite enough of it, and I am sure that most of my fellow Canadians have as well. We must come out in MASS and make sure Pierre gets a Majority government. There is no other way around this nightmare.

After learning what initially was not available on mainstream media, through Pierre, I realized I had reached a threshold. All the info/truths about our current government were way too depressing. I am indebted to Pierre for shining the light on these dark things. Unfortunately, now there is only ONE THING LEFT I CAN DO - VOTE! And when I do, you now know who I will vote for. I hope you do too. There is hope 😊

Turdeau and jughead are wef brothers..........we know who they listen to and it's not us canadians!!!!!!

More greed.
So you don't want permits? When we let developers build as they please you get cut corners. History tells us that. You part of the same group that wants to drop child job laws and ditch the minimum wage so we can pay people nothing and have 12yr old back in the mines?
that doesnt mean anything if no one is willing to buy it
These UA-cam videos are brilliant. You're doing a great job, keep up the hard work!
It does seem to be a lot of hard work putting out propaganda to con Canadians into voting for this pro-capitalist, anti-union Pierre guy.

Canadians are smarter and more dignified than that
How can I not love This man, he speaks with such facts very intelligent and knows what the ppl of Canada need . Well said Pierre!!!

They can't: they can however put the Conservative Party back in power in the Canadian Congress. They in turn will elect him. Think of the P.M. as the Canadian Speaker of the House of Representatives in the U.S.

@@KiwiFights What are you trying to say exactly?
Well said !
And this ideology is very expensive!
First time I’m voting in Canada. Thank you! Please keep

By all means, genius... explain how the PM (who is opposed to federal interference) is going to interfere in provincial matters.

Thank you Pierre for bringing this to our attention. I' ve been behind you for a long time. You have our votes in our family.
I am an indian living in the southern part of India. Let me tell you that I really feel for you people. I hope you get better leadership soon. 🇮🇳🇨🇦
p.s. We Indians don't hate Canada or Canadians, quite the opposite actually!
Well we hate you bro
I’ve been told by Indian immigrant that Canadians are too soft and won’t protest against them so we get what we deserve, this was while trying to explain why his car needed to be safe tied to drive it in Canada and he protested to me the cost of putting his car in safe condition.

Canada is SO lucky! They could elect that man PM in their next election and Canada could FINALLY take it's place amongst the developed countries of the world! In fact, Canada could potentially become the global voice of reason if Bidumb wins again and America falls even farther in the global rankings!
I am American and I follow this gentleman. He is always right in what he says and is only person right for the Canadian people. He should be next PM
But he forgets to say that in Canada we have universal healthcare, cheaper education , mandatory paid vacation , and a higher life expectancy
Nobody is "always right". That's how you people got in so much trouble with the Orange Moron
Thats ridiculous. ANY conservative would be BRAGGING that house prices in Canada are so much higher than in the US. Low housing prices mean a shit economy and nobody with money. High prices mean the opposite.
He literally talks like an NDPer.

Let's get 'er done, Pierre. Canada has always had a decent measure of responsible government regardless of the party. Unfortunately the one we have right now is just catering to the elites and all their fetishes as well as serving only their financial interests and to hell with the working Joe. I'll be very thankful when you get in. Pierre! ❤ Love you guys and thank you for having the balls to step up and defend the little guy! Oh, please
Fidel Castro nevertheless, with his crazy communist idea, wasn't сoward
Wow so much clarity, logic and empathy in the way Pierre Poilievre speaks. I really really hope this guy is our next PM.
We see these insane prices rising further and further in western Europe as well... It's unsustainable. I, as a 26 year old, can't see myself ever being able to buy a home. My rent is already eating up over 1/3 of my income, and food prices among other needs keep rising... I even have an above average income as a developer. It's absurd.
more than half of my income here in Australia
Stop electing socialists/Marxists and take your liberties back.
According to this guy you just need to kick out Justin Trudeau and you should be good 👍
@@Henchman.24uh yeah, kinda. We have the same type of neoliberals running things here. Fiscal conservatives dont exist, the only alternatives to the establishment are far right and far left nut jobs
@@Henchman.24 Yes Poilievre is going to solve the housing problem by telling us the price of real estate across the border in the US. But he is not going to stop there. He is going to stop the inflation problem by firing the governor of the Bank Of Canada. This Poilievre guy is a genius.
Perfect plan ! Lets go people vote conservative ! Vote for Pierre for the sake of the country !
No Pierre the problem to solve which creating this is Foreign Mass Immigration. I told you that in St. Catharines and you did not listen. You want more immigrants into this country than Trudeau. Look at this quote today from the Trudeau Federal Government Today Pierre - The federal government said that in 2022 international students contributed more than $22 billion to the Canadian economy, greater than the contribution of auto parts or lumber exports. So you have stated you will BOOST that number of temporary foreign workers and increase immigration with a blue seal standard. You are not going to stop foreign mass immigration at all. Biden is now saying close the southern border and build a wall. You say bring more people in and free up housing by building more housing that is more expensive.
Canada needs more new small towns with sustainability like growing their own food. Big cities do not need to get bigger
Bring it home! Common sense❤❤❤
Yes. I've compared house prices in southern NB and compared them to house prices in northern Maine. It really is shocking.
Please post examples here of the price per sf !! Thanks

As a 26 year old blue collar Canadian, I sure hope you can deliver on your promises. I grew up believing I had won the lottery in terms of being born in a thriving and growing country that majority of the world respected. I was excited for life and my future ahead because I was taught if you work hard, you can be financially independent. However that is not the case at all. I have no choice but to accept financial aid from my family.(extremely grateful i even have this option) just to put a roof over my head, food on the table and gas in my truck. Not only is the Canadian government currently stripping young Canadians of any cash they earn, but they are now taking money from the middle class retired folks because they don't want to see their children end up on the street? The toll this takes on people my age is unmeasurable. Not only are we scared for our futures but were scared for the future of this country and our families. I'm all for what you are selling in this video , but if you get into office and things don't change. You can expect shit to hit the fan across the country.
well said.
Lol only the Canadians who haven't visited or lived outside the country would think they won the lottery for living in Canada. Though that perception appears to be changing among Canadians... Time to wake up. Canadian economy and infrastructure has been pacing very slowly for quite some time now. It's been lagging behind for more than a decade.
Quite amazing what little advancement we achieved despite abundant natural resources and land that other countries don't have.
Man I hear you I’m 26 moved out when I was 18 had a nice place was buying 1000$ a month for rent utilities included I’m 26 I work 3 jobs and living pay cheque to pay cheque paying over 3200 a month for rent plus I got phone bill gas groceries my power bill and other bills hell ever pay day I gotta decide be homeless starve to death or freeze to death
Well said. Interest rates, and Inflation under this Government keep rising, and our wages are slowly being taken at an alarming rate. Whats the point of doing OT at work when the Gov't will just take even more of our paycheques?... Kind of steals the motivation for a better future, to marry, or to bring a child into this World.@@matthewlangille5382

Thanks 😊 I concur.
just another lying politician... heard it all before.. typical lip service.. he wont change a thing
You can have him
Yes, seems that way but we need to keep them accountable, w/transparency, flexibility, brave enough to have integrity. If Poilievre can understand that citizens are Gov's auditors and respect us for it, work w/us not over us (appeasing Kiev/SS and K-issue romance/lobbies plus stand up on corp regulatory w/WHO, big pharma producing problematic you-know-what's) then we have a good leader.
How is Trump doing?
Pierre for PM! I may not be 19 but I will convince all adults in my family to vote him!
Bring it home Pierre.
Immigration (part of the problem) should be based on the number of homes being built and the ratio of Dr to patients
Agree with you
Would be good for legal and skilled immigrants also
What about the jobs that Canadians aren't filling? Unemployment is below the historical average. Immigrants are doctors and nurses too, not just domestic help
Immigration is THE MAIN problem
@@davieee1168 I think they help run some businesses and get lots of tax money and government is using them for just earning
This should stop things should be sustainable
@@rl5579 Do you mean bullshit jobs as David Graeber has studied exist to about 40-50% in the capitalist economy? It's a problem of systems that are sustainable vs. unsustainable. And capitalism is unsustainable.
There are plenty of meaningful tasks people would be happy to do if we made the community organization that allowed people to follow their passions to contribute to their community's abundance and prosperity, and that contribution wouldn't be held off and taken by the elite rich class of private owners. It's called One Small Town Contributionism and it's 100% voluntary and free, but totally for the people, by the people. Why not put everybody who is in a sub-standard job to work in a much more beneficial way?
This is explained so well. I wish politicians like this had a platform in the U.S.
I will definitely vote for you. I live in Quebec . Houses are ridiculous here also. My son moved to Ontario got married and now have 2 children. He is so stressed with the cost of living . Housing, Rentals are no longer affordable when you have to pay over 1 million for a home that's built in 1950's that is not feasable nor is it to rent for 3,4,5 k monthly now there are more and more Canadians having to live with their families or on the street this is not ok.I truly believe that you will be our next Prime Minister and make us once more proud to be Canadians and make living affordable for the middle class so our children and grandchildren can survive and have dreams like we once did afterall they are our future.

Although in general, I think it will still be a big improvement over what we currently have in government.
Poilievere is the leadership Canada needs now!!
We also need to put a hold on immigration in Canada ! Thanks Pierre for this update on housing and imagine you did it without having to read it can’t even think of Trudope trying this DAH DAH
He has no intention of slowing down the people coming in. Instead, he wants us to pay to build homes for them all. Only Maxim Bernier ever talks about putting Canadians first. Too bad voting for him will only split the vote and have us stuck with Trudeau again.

Pierre, Trudeau is too much of a narcisist to allow himself to be defeated in an election. He'll pull a Brian Mulrooney and leave politics before he loses. Stop repeating his name and start criticizing the Liberals. If Trudeau leaves, you'll have little to use in order to persuade the electorate to vote for you.
He said he isn't going anywhere & I believe him. He works for WEF. I'll bet they've been working on a plan.
Personally I think he's too much of a narcissist to admit he will lose.
So glad that I voted for Pierre years ago back when he was the MP in my riding
