Ahh how did I miss this. Thanks! Very informative.
Wow, congratulations on the new spot welder. Anyway I can have your broken one please
Once ordered a sunko but it never arrived. Thankfully i got a refund, but still missing out on my own spotwelder. After seeing this video, i ordered me one of these. So i don't need to lend my mates everytime. Looking forward to use it.
Good stuff like always Lee. !
You are welcome bro! Looks like a great tool
I myself got the cheap 15$ pcb with 5 high powered mosfets with everything needed and just printed a case for it and use it with a car battery. works excellently with no heating issues.
Very interesting, Lee, and it looks like you have a fine spot welder there!
David Linscheid should be a good one! We will see I guess
did my 12s6p also with that welder - amzing product :) happy new year lee
Happy new year Matt! Yeah seems really nice for the money, I'm happy
i like the Power Cables jumping around when current flows ;)
That was really interesting, and looked fun to make
Thanks Neil
Works great also!
have not even any heat sinks with cool mosfets. But if need in the future I´ll just add it.cool solution for spot welding
Quality. Just found ya channsl and looking forward to seeing what you are all about... becoming fascinated with everything electric!
Hey bro welcome! This is deffo a place to explore some electric stuff!
sequire?? kweld?? do I need to spend a lot of money to get the quality welder just for batteries
I just picked up one of these and built it up last night. So far so good for me.
What thickness nickel were you welding on?
0.15 mate, it's all use up to yet. It feels like it's going to be a good welder.
can it weld 0.20mm pure nickel and will that 50c battry good enough?
I might go ahead and buy this and start planning out a build. Want to build a long range battery, so will need to do a custom one with welds. Was looking at Jehu’s battery kits, but not sure if it would be better to go that route or spot weld a battery.
Better to spot weld, this welder is a beast as well mate. I'm 8000 welds in on it and love it
I bought my batteries from Jehu and used this welder to build it. Cost me 760$ for the welder everything. Welder 200$ battery 200$ 160 LG 18650's 225$ daly 100a bms 60$ The rest was some wire, nickel and shrink wrap. So now I can build huge batteries for 350$ from here on out. Worth it.
Where did you get the spot welder and the nickel strips?
Link in the description for the welder bud. Strips will be country specific, avoid China
I was looking at the Sunko and didn't want to spend that much money on a decent one....this one is more to my liking, smaller footprint, less than half the price of the Sunko and NOT from China!!!🤠👍
You just dodged a bullet there mate, do not get the sunko... this is much more capable! The sunko has quite a few issues
@@LeeWright Yep...already ordered the lipo kit after watching your review!!! Can't wait to put it together! 🤠👍
its still from china....lol where do you think the pcb manufacture is? derp.
Was nice to see a different kind of build. Definitely want to see more. One thing for improvement would be the camera position. If you could place the Camera in front of you instead on the side would make it easier to not block the view.
Right when i was gonna ask something about the Orange trampa you showed it :D Is that the orange one with the side pouch containing the VX1 receiver where i send you the link for the vx1 case?
xSynatiiC hey man, yes I really need to work on my camera work, lighting and general cinematography skills for the future. This is something I have identified myself and plans are afoot to sort that out. Yes that is the orange trampa, need to get that one finished!
Lighting and such is not bad at all. Only things i would say are the camera angles (usually only when stationary), focus (Cameras fault i guess) and thats nitpicky : sometimes the music if it gets used it multiple Videos. I personally really liked the song at 19:30 ish on your Last ride of 2019 Video. Music though is hard to satisfy everyone i know. Those are just my 2 cents. But all and all really nothing that i dislike, just some small improvements i'd like to see. :)
xSynatiiC I love this sort of feedback bro, this is the good stuff. Music is tricky - there’s only so much time to hunt it out and with doing two videos a week I try and minimise time searching for music all the time. I normally spend a day every couple of months getting tracks and then use them over that period until the next time I go to get music. The track in the 2019 video was a new one I searched for as I wanted something mysterious to go with the night thing. The camera is a knobhead :)
I fully understand that. Finding good, copyright free music can be a pain in the ass. Maybe your camera needs a slap on the lens so it stops being a dick :P
Hi lee could you please help me would this battery pack be suitable for the spot welder turnigy nano tech plus 5000mah 3s 70c as other suggested ones are out of stock
Thanks
yes bro that would be perfect
@@LeeWright thanks so much
Like you've found out...I've been waiting for more than a month for the recommended one from Turnigy...just ordered the one you asked about...should be here in a week, we'll see how everything goes then! Looking forward to putting the spot welder to work!🤠👍
I just bought this how is it holding up
Yeah really well bud, over 14000 welds trouble free so far
I’m sorry I’m a noob. But how does one charge the battery it uses?
With a lipo hobby charger bro
All I needed to know. Thanks, bro!
Link for the welder?
Great point mate! I will also drop it the description too malectrics.eu/product/diy-arduino-battery-spot-welder-kit-v3-2-2-full-bundle-lipo-battery/
I love this spot welder. It does .2mm with ease. Stepping up to .3mm experimentation soon. However, I couldn't get it to weld nickel platted copper stripping. It doesn't even mar .3mm nickel platted copper stripping at max settings. At max settings, the cables on the spot welder bounce into the air on each hit. The copper just takes enormous amounts of current because of how well it sinks heat. If I had to guess, I bet you're looking at 1,000 amps or better to be able to weld copper. Anyone have a different experience with copper?
dieselphiend cool information! I think people have more success welding nickel to copper than copper to nickel
you arent going to weld copper without a WHOLE NOTHER LEVEL of machine. micro tig or ultrasonic would be the way.
@@DieselRamcharger They have industrial machines the spot weld copper easy. I doubt they're using more than 2,000 amps.
@@dieselphiend Yeah it's not going to do copper mate. No way. Way too conductive both thermally and electrically to work unless. Not even sure if you could use copper electrodes
@@diavolescaCZ You can use copper electrodes. The Kweld can do copper, but it has twice as much potential as long as you have the right power source.
How has that spot welder been over the time you've owned it?
Funny you should mention this as I was thinking about doing a video on this. Absolutely fantastic, I think we are around 10,000 welds in (it counts them) and no issues at all. 100% reccomend ✌
@@LeeWright ok good to know, i was searching for spot welders an came across your video and was curious if it was still work. See almost everyone talking about the kweld. What do you think about them ? Haven't owned a spot welder yet an wound like to
microwave transformer. timer board from a sunkko. diy pen 2awg with 4awg tips. its a beast...cost what 25 bucks or so to build? the timer thyristor board is 10 bucks. the microwave transformer free. 2awg welding cable 1.50 a foot from the local supply. 3d printed pen. most expensive part are the 2awg splice connectors that i use to connect the tips to the cable. they are about 7 bucks each.
goodluck running around and search scrapyard and putthings together
OL -> Open Loop
How do you know this is a real kit? Keen labs is the manufacturer. I used the link you put up and bought one but now I'm being warned it could be a fake.
Keen labs make the Kweld, which is an entirely different welder to this one bro 👍
@@LeeWright I actually bought this from your link. Thanks! This malectrics is the bomb! I was looking at the kweld also from keen. Got confused. lol Glad you added the link. The kweld was to much of a pain to order. I paid for the fast shipping and got it in 5 days!
RIP Boss level custom spot welder - Diagnosis - Scott's Monster battery kicked it's arse hahaha.
New Welder looks better just wondering if you could wire the button from the boss level custom welder to the new kit?
Maybe rig a gold leaf button to it? www.arcadeworlduk.com/products/Gold-Leaf-Arcade-Button.html
Enjoyed the video BTW even though I was thinking nearly 19 mins on a spot welder when I started it! 😃
Haha I did think you might comment on the length! Yeah it’s dead, diagnosis - Scott’s fault 😂, I have some ideas for it mate, tbc
Simon Churchley I imagine that you could, especially if they are both wired into the Arduino board. The board just looks for voltage to a pin, and then activated the timer/ power to the welder. So any switch should do, as long as it can work with 5V DC. If only I knew how to make permanent circuits rather than bread boards, then I’d make it myself.
for the price of that you could buy a professional very good spot welder from aliexpress! and no batteries needed.
good luck with it. Those plug in ones tend to be crappy for .15 and larger.
professional u cant even weld thicker then 0.15mm lol
bought this and it's worth twice what I paid for it! Go ahead and get a crappy plug in one. I had the "good" one before that you "just plug in". And it wouldn't even do .15. The malectrics does .15 at level 5 of 50. 600a from a battery or 100a from a plug. You deside.
looks like a copy of the korean original. only with fuse and 3d printed case.. menu content same
I used to have the Korean one and this is leagues ahead mate. My Korean one died after maybe 10,000 welds
jfc..... just buy a lawn battery 250 cca some cables and a 500 amp starter solenoid with a fast momentary switch.... stop overpaying. built my setup for 80- bucks and it does a better job than any of these
