    Good vid as per norm fella. In downhill I’ve ridden 8,9, and 10”s and the grip and stability goes up incrementaly. It is my belief that the contact patch is the biggest factor when it comes to range (the thing everyone is talking about it seems) I should imagine the 9” strikers get a good range at high pressure as the board will run on the uninterrupted centre bead (with a round profile). The new mud pluggers look to have an interrupted centre bead and flatter profile hence bigger contact and grip. Nothing to crazy to understand. But trampa have an amazing off road downhill heritage and these mudpluggers I believe are for the harshest of terrain and the side wall grip is genius for punching through deep crud. I could go for hours I reckon on how excited I personally am about these tyres but apart from a bit of road carving I’m all about getting dirty and challenging myself and the tech to our limits. The future is bright !!!!

    • @LeeWright
      @LeeWright  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks Daniel. What people have to understand is you cant have everything. With amazing grip and performance comes a slight hit in range, Ted tells me on the standard Trampas with the lipos it's not too bad at all so maybe it's my setup. Also I have to reiterate the wheels are at 20 PSI! That is incredibly deflated and I guess if you pump them up they run faster. The future is bright, I love the eMTB stuff, some of my favorite riding

    • @mountainsmedia9529
      @mountainsmedia9529 4 роки тому

      Exactly what you say about can’t have everything. Wheels/tyres really interest me as I have a healthy interest in motorbikes as well and having only 2 contact patches you quickly realise how important having a choice of wheel and tyre becomes. I reckon I could go for hours on this topic lol. A topic about battery’s or electric wizardry I’m waaaay out of my depth lol.

    I bought a set of Mudpluggers and put them on in the spring of last year, just as rear tires, with Primo Alpha 9" on the front. The Primo's must have a much softer compound, because they are almost gone. Where as my Mugpluggers have only worn about 20%. So, I'm just going full Mudpluggers all the way around. They still have plenty of grip on the tarmac.

    Nicely put together video Lee, really appreciate the quality you have your videos at now. The 9" wheels look great and I will definitely look into getting some down the line. How long is it taking to change the tires over is it something you see yourself doing often or a winter summer thing?

    • @LeeWright
      @LeeWright  4 роки тому

      Hey mate, thanks a lot - I apprieciate you saying that seeing as you have been here since day one! Well seeing as you can only run the 9's on the megastar or the soon to be released 9 inch plastic wheels you can keep a set of 8's on the superstars and 9's on the megas and swap them over easily enough. Tbh I think I would rather build a bigger battery and just run the 9's full stop

    Do you know what the diameter of the trampa rims youre using are? I have 9 inch trampa tires and it looks like they require 4.5inch diameter rims, but trampa's website says the compatible rims are only 4 inches. I have 4.2inch acedeck rims and they don't fit because they aren't 4.5inches so I'm so confused. Thanks

    Nice one Lee.. I’ve been running the striker 9” in the back now for about 60miles. The feeling of the back. End being higher definitely goes away. I’m loving the stability for jumping too. To compare my range compared to 8” at 50psi and 9” at 35 psi. I’m losing about 15% -20% range.. but I’m definitely riding much much faster.

    • @LeeWright
      @LeeWright  4 роки тому +1

      That's the thing about it, it makes you push much harder and you lose range because you are moving faster! I actually love them tbh. I'm going to build a bigger battery so I can run them all the time

    Good stuff as usual from you.
    My take is that if youre not gonna be doing alot of jumping & more riding in muddy/rough conditions then this would be good..
    Personally i like to slide the back out sometimes and do some jumping. Now upgrading to etoxx drives added that little extra weight. Doesnt help for jumps n stuff.
    Also when i upgraded to etoxx i changed to mbs trucks aswell. And ofcoarse with mbs trucks you need the axle extension from etoxx..
    This made the wheel base wider at the back. Much like the 9 inch on the back thing.. personally i think it throws the board sideways a little & doesnt drift as well.
    Just some input to consider.

    • @LeeWright
      @LeeWright  4 роки тому +1

      Thanks Ned. Good points to consider. Currently this setup does add some significant weight to the board due to the the bigger ali wheels you need and the tyres themselves. Jumping I dont notice a lot of difference but the back end is heavy with the gears and the tyres etc, certainly compared to the front.

    Trampa should really come out with an 8" version of that tyre. The added width and more aggressive tread would still be a great improvement. 9" is nice but it means higher weight and a shorter gear ratio which may not be feasible for some drivetrains.

    • @LeeWright
      @LeeWright  4 роки тому

      The tyres are amazing bro, you should try them if you can. I thought the gearing would be a problem as I'm on 1:5 but I love it. Going to build a bigger battery when I get chance for it, go 12S something

    • @naturecollision

      @@LeeWright ok the argument makes sense, in my case though I have mostly very steep inclines on forest roads to take on, rain drains are a little wide in my area (gaps of about 5 inches) and they shake my 8inch tyres and stress the components a lot, I was thinking with these I could have a smoother ride under those harsh conditions - so you are saying it's worth it if conditions are really bad? or is it just not worth it losing out on range and stressing motors too much? I really like the idea of double wheeling and got inspired by this: ua-cam.com/video/UyfzeA9lvV4/v-deo.html and while I wait for your response, I'm thinking about triple wheeling already just for the gals ;)
