5:50 When using mini roundabouts 'all vehicles MUST pass around the central markings'
Also general guidance on roundabouts specifically states to take care around motorcycles.
With that in mind I'd say the car would take the lions share of the blame in that scenario.

You have to blame the person who invented these mini monstrosities, if they made them like proper roundabouts with raised kerbs it would stop them being overbouts, but then looking at the driving abilities of many people they would end up with damaged sills or bumpers as they are incapable of turning left or right on a straight road

I always use the nearside lane and keep a eye out in the distance for the HGV's. There are some circumstances though, when there's a number of them, in which case, i avoid 'ducking and diving'. One wind up involving HGV's is when they decide to use three lanes on a four lane motorway and drive 'line a breast', just leaving the outside lane for overtaking. I can only assume that they do this to be intimidating!! .🤔

@@PaulBonsor Thanks for the reminder but that's irrelevant - no-one has actually said anything about illegal. The horse would not have been able to get out of the joggers way, the jogger ran/jogged right at it. Not a single person has said anything about legality in this scenario - the jogger was a muppet who should have waited. Once again, perhaps while looking up what is legal and what isn't, you've forgotten that if you move quickly straight at a horse it will scare it. Finally, the horse was on the crossing WELL before the jogger.
So in other words - keep your legality and stop being a moron?

My biggest hatred is the middle lane hogger on the motorway, which is obviously featured a lot on the channel. I always find that those that are hogging the middle lane, are absolutely clueless to the law. Whenever I warn them to move over, They are oblivious to the ruling. They are simply unaware that they need to move over!!

When overtaking, I normally use a 30 seconds rule. So if it's going to take me more than 30 seconds to get to the next vehicle, I'll pull back to the nearside lane. If it's going to be less than 30 seconds, I'll stay in the outer lane.
I find it's a good compromise between lane hogging, and driving to the Highway Code.

A lot of drivers have this self entitled attitude nowadays and I saw it on the M4 a couple of days ago, a BMW driver was in the outside lane doing just over 70 mph but wouldn't move over for traffic, I assume because they thought the speed limit is 70 so nobody should go any faster than them. In the end a van did an undertake and then cut back in front pretty sharp, the BMW then moved over 3 lanes in one go and sat in the slow lane at 55-58 mph, just slow enough to annoy HGV's but a little too fast to allow them to overtake. What a tosser😜

They both entered the rbt at the same time and when you do this on a 3 arm mini there is plenty room and time to go around each other.
Had the car taken the correct path, there would have been no issue. He cut across the spot therefore caused the hypothetical crash. He contravened rule 184 by not adjusting his speed and position to suit others around him as well as the section 36 offence.

4:00 also they are the kind of person who after sitting in the same lane for 4 miles would lose their mind if you undertook. Now I don't think it's undertaking if, you are doing 70mph in Lane 1. They are doing 65mph in Lane 2 and 3 and 4 are doing say 75mph and it's chocker as Lane 2 causing a bottle neck.
It's far more of an issue for me to slow to 65mph, get behind them, overtake and come back.
Highway code does say something about in traffic you may find lane 1 faster than 2 which is acceptable in traffic, so maybe your scenario wouldn't suit, but often I will stay in 1 with cruise control on and just move out for slower vehicles, lane joggers are the danger to the road, lazy lazy driving.

180 on a mini roundabout. I would think avoid is operative term here. Avoid yes, but when no other option available, as in this instance then it becomes unavoidable. The Audi was in the wrong and should have waited as they entered the roundabout when the other car was still on it and with limited space. Also with the horses, bot jogger and cyclists are lucky they weren't startled and reared up. They could easily have thrown the riders and had they kicked out. If that had happened then they woukd have been picking themselves up a few dozen yards from where they were.

"Wankie" is certainly in the Collins Concise English Dictionary...
The Police Training Manual suggest the following as examples of Careless or Inconsiderate Driving.
    overtaking on the inside
driving too close to another vehicle (Tailgating)
driving through a red light by mistake
turning into the path of another vehicle (The chap that pulled out on you)
the driver being avoidably distracted by tuning the radio, lighting a cigarette etc
flashing lights to force other drivers to give way
misusing lanes to gain advantage over other drivers (The Golf example in your clip using the left turn lane to get in front)
unnecessarily staying in an overtaking lane (Lane Hogging)
    unnecessarily slow driving or braking
dazzling other drivers with un-dipped headlights
All attract 3 points if you accept a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) most are worth more points if you choose court.

Roundabout looks 50:50 therefore cos the bike is more vulnerable, it goes to the car, however, it is every road users responsibility to avoid a collision, regardless of fault. I don't think the Audi appreciated the Fiat was going to effectively U turn round the roundabout. it takes 2 road users to have a collision but only 1 to avoid it. I think a front and rear split screen view would be really handy for every clip cos it builds a bigger picture of all the traffic around cos it is about traffic flow as much as priority. I'd be able to criticise much better if you did that 🤣

5:39 "The buke should not have gone because he does not have priority" Technically the bike needs to give way to the car. In this respect the rider may have calculated that he can complete his turn without forcing the car to alter speed or direction and therefore continue anyway. This would be giving way but not stopping. The assessment the rider makes may have been on the assumption the the car driver would go around the island which he does not. The not circulating the roundabout is a decision of the car driver and incorrect.

Lorries over 3.5 tonnes are not allowed in lane 3.
Rule 264 of the Highway Code states: “Keep in the left lane unless overtaking. If you are overtaking, you should return to the left lane when it is safe to do so." However, they are likely to face a £100 fine and three penalty points, and if they end up being charged with careless driving, an unlimited fine and three to 11 points on their licence.
The trouble is the police don't enforce it. It must be easy to do it on these "smart motorways" with all the cameras to charge someone.

Yes, I myself would not bring my horse any where near the people you preview on this channel and with that said not everyone is "bad" ,,, that isn't it,, it's taking the time or effort for them to about thinking about their actions and how it might effect others (or horses) before it occurs,,, There lies the twist I feel because everyone, rightly or wrongly,, is thinking about things not related to the driving or walking or crossing the road because they are on auto pilot,,, the task is automatic until something unexpected happens that make a them think when the thinking could have been done before hand with a better out come. At least that is how I see it.

[10:45] The whole idea of a Mustang is NOT the sound. It's the power (such as it was - American muscle cars were notorious for not putting down power very well - they couldn't get all their horses into the wheels). It just happens that at the time power meant big, heavy, noisy, dirty V8s. It now means smaller, lighter, quieter, cleaner, higher torque motors with instant acceleration. Ford are happy with that. Henry Ford's grandson is happy with that. None of this Electric Mustang and "Real" Mustang bollocks. It's a Mustang. Was a Concorde not a plane because it didn't have wooden props, two stacked wings and a piston engine? Word of the day = Progress.

I had an interesting interaction with a crazy woman in Aldi today and I thought I'd see what the smart folks in the comments have to say about it🤔🤔
I pulled into the car park and went round the one way system stopping at the zebra crossing to let mum and child across and then continued towards a parking space when a mad woman walked across the road in front of me causing me to slam on the brakes. I was doing less than 10 mph so blew the horn at her as I assumed she hadn't seen my bright red Picasso. I then parked and got out the car and she came across shouting that "The new highway code rules give me priority when I'm crossing the road." I told her she needs to go and read up on these rules as she was wrong..
The question I have is if she walks out from between parked cars in Aldi's car park causing me to stop dead who's in the wrong? Her for crossing and not looking or me because she has priority as a pedestrian. She did end up threatening to call the police and was extremely opinionated whereas I said very little and just let her rant. What do we all think?? (if anyone bothered to read all the way to the bottom of my comment🤣🤣)

I’ve criticised you many times but if anyone says that mustang did a merge in turn I’ll back you all day because they’d be wrong. It was so dangerous, needless and desperate. There was oncoming traffic as well and I don’t think they made it in on time either. Well done for backing off when you did. Your motorway lane clip was important as well. I just can make my mind up about this channel. A lot of what you show and your analysis is very good, however your attitude on the road is a bit stressful. Just relax a bit and try not to show people that being angry at other road users is a good thing. Shouting doesn’t help. And I have to hold my hands up that I didn’t know that going all the way round a mini roundabout is against the highway code. Suppose it makes sense but I think I did it once so I’ll make sure I avoid it

  • @dragonh3art1

Yes biker was in the wrong puling out at roundabout, however if the car didn't cut the roundabout and went round properly there wouldn't of been an issue, plus when I watch videos like this I always think the cars speed up at roundabouts to make sure people won't come out on them,

  • @out-backer7875

5:50 - the car should go around the roundabout, not ignore it so it made the problem.
7:34 on the mini-roundabout - Highway code advises that you should avoid doing a u-turn on a mini-roundabout, though it does not say "must not". I'd suspect a lot of drivers would do the same as the Audi and not expect the u-turn.
And the irony, as you then don't give way to the car indicating right on the same mini roundabout whilst shouting "priority to the right" lol

Disclaimer: all the clips from 8:11 onwards I fully agree are just shit driving from idiots. Especially agree with your commentary from 10:30 through to 11:00.
    But...
In fairness to the Volvo throughout that whole clip starting at 1:38.....
Between 1:38 and 2:16 the Volvo is overtaking a lorry
Between 2:16 and 2:38 there is virtually zero traffic in either lane 3 or 4, so the Volvo doesn't hold anyone up. Sure it's not best practice, but he's not in anyone's way so there's no material impact
Between 2:38 and 2:56 the Volvo is overtaking a lorry
Between 2:56 and 3:52 - again, who exactly is the Volvo holding up? The reason for the keep left rule is so that you don't impede traffic. The Volvo isn't impeding any traffic here so I don't really see the problem other than "it's not what the highway code says". Big whoop. The real world impact is zero.
Between 3:52 and 4:13 you are talking about lorries overtaking - but this is only relevant when the traffic is going slower than lorries which are limited to 56/60mph, which is generally just because there's loads of traffic anyway. The Volvo could have moved over here, but watching the video they impeded arguably maybe one car at worst.
Between 4:13 and 4:40 the Volvo is now overtaking both you and the lorry you're behind
After 4:40, there is an onramp joining the carriageway at the other side of the junction so I can understand why the Volvo would want to stay in lane 2 to leave lane 1 free for potential vehicles joining.
Overall of the 3 minute clip, I would says the Volvo being in lane 2 is either justified or has no material impact on anyone for all of about 15-20 seconds of it. I would almost certainly agree with you that a lot of what I've said probably wasn't what was going through the mind of the Volvo driver, and I'm not going to claim it's good driving, but I don't think this particular example is as egregious as it initially looks, as for most of it they are either overtaking someone and/or aren't actually getting in anyone's way. In heavier traffic obviously it would be more of an issue, but in my opinion someone sitting in lane 2 when there is minimal traffic isn't really an issue, for as long as they are not actually holding anyone up by doing so. If you ask me, the van that appears in lane 3 at 4:21 looks a bigger offender. I think my point regarding this Volvo is especially in comparison to the silver car lane hogging in the clip at 11:28; the difference in impact on traffic flow is clear.
Re the clip at 6:04 with the mini roundabout I think that's one of those cases where "who is legally at fault?" is a very different question to "who could have done better to make this a non-issue". Legally speaking the motorbike didn't give way so would likely be found at fault for an accident, but obviously the Yaris taking a shortcut over the top of the mini roundabout made things worse than it needed to be. So legally its the motorbike but in court of opinion I would say something like 60/40 or 70/30.
At the clip at 7:00 I feel like the runner could obviously have done better, but the hierarchy of road users says that horse riders should give priority to pedestrians. I also think that the horse rider should have been aware of the runner and been prepared for the runner to keep running and spook the horse. It is obviously inconsiderate of the runner but I feel like the rider should know if their horse is spooky and take extra precautions. Riders should ride with the assumption that other people are idiots, much as it is sensible to drive a car with the assumption that other people are idiots. Another 60/40 or 70/30 in my opinion; both parties could have done better.
At 7:26 this is more of the same. Highway code says to avoid doing U-turns at mini roundabouts, but the highway code (and common sense) says to be aware of people doing so anyway. The Fiat also did have an alternative option; it should have turned right at the mini roundabout then proceeded down Avenue Road & Woodcote Road then turned right onto the A24. It would end up in the exact same place (junction by Epsom Playhouse) as they've gone by doing an unsafe U-turn, and with minimal time difference.
