Hi Tony! Hope you’re well. I’ll start by saying cab stories is a great idea 😊. Today I was on a double decker bus on a fairly busy main road in Paignton, Devon, where a car just pulled out from a side road RIGHT IN FRONT of the bus. I couldn’t see if the driver was on their phone or anything because I was sat upstairs. It was incredibly dangerous because of course buses cannot stop on a pinhead particularly double decker buses. I take my hat off to the bus driver for reacting so calmly and quickly. He did hit the brakes of course but he didn’t use the horn or shout anything. He might have lit this driver up though or at least flashed them, but again being upstairs I didn’t see.

The blue toy car at 8:07 was indisputably badly driven but, to be fair, they did at least acknowledge your courtesy, suggesting that they knew they had made a bit of a hash of things. Your frustration is understandable, good drivers prevent other people's accidents from coming to fruition multiple times during the course of most journeys. Content yourself in the knowledge that you are doing so, even if those who get home "safely" will remain forever oblivious to the fact that much of the time, it's no real thanks to their own actions. Cars like that, as I'm sure you will have noticed long before now, are invariably driven by people who have no real interest in cars or driving. For them, it's just something they "have to do" and consequently do not view driving as a skill or give any thought to improving or learning anything further. They have a licence and that's sufficient to satisfy them that they have earned the "right" to drive.

Petrol head moments - first one on the trailer is a Frazer Nash and the third, by the M3 turn off, is a Citroen Traction Avant. (my wife's favourite car) - I need a bigger anorak. BMW towing the FN on the trailer is allowed in the outside lane because it is a BMW. It's also probably out there as it wants the next junction. German car highway code is simple. Right lane to turn left or exit a motorway, left lane to turn right. Simples. That's why the other BMWs carved you up - they were going left.
If I think you're wrong Tony then I'll say in the comments without resorting to the "misinformation" label or slagging you off. I will say though that the vast majority of the time I have no complaints at all with your POV or commentary but you will always have the people who deliberately don't listen to what you say and who then write their own narrative based on what they wanted to hear. Haters are always gonna hate fella and if you have a YT channel I think you develop a very thick skin over time, you shouldn't worry too much though as most people here are pretty agreeable folks who are willing to listen and comment. The fact that you have over 12k subs shows you're doing something right so keep putting out the videos and ignore the comment clowns😁😍😁😍😉
First petrolhead moment was a 1928 Frazer Nash 1500cc petrol. Don't know what the hotrod was but it looked nice. At 27:05 it was a 1952 Citroen 1911cc petrol.
at 20:40 that is one very wide lane each way - there are no lane-dividing markings, so it is a single lane though going by the width of it, it probably used to be two lanes each way Sheffield is nowhere near as extreme with speed limits as Oxford or Cambridge (there's far fewer cyclists, for a start - the only flat land is on top of some people's heads!), but you can definitely tell which major roads in the district are trunk routes, as opposed to council-run: they're only ones with National Speed Limit, all the others have 50 limits
Drivers who swing out to the left before making a right turn have become increasingly common in recent times. I have no idea why but I've seen some pretty extreme and appalling instances of it, several of which have resulted in them colliding with traffic passing, perfectly acceptably on their left. I think that a lot of behaviour on the part of drivers, cyclists and pedestrians - a certain level of, shall we say, "vacancy" - has worsened considerably since they had a certain shot in the arm if you get my drift.
Tales from the cab 👍especially if they are as crazy as the hidden baby. As for your complainers it’s a case of if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say it at all. Don’t understand wanting to watch something just to not enjoy, comment and complain. With all that is going on in the UK at the moment there is no harm in being more tolerant and kind. Keep up the good work 😊
Regarding your Hierarchy of Road Users you could sub divide the pedestrians to put runners at the top. I’m referring to the ones that run towards you in the road. They seem oblivious to what’s behind them and whether you can get round them and aim straight at you. They are not in the Olympics or organised marathon so just stop running and contribute to their own safety.
@25:55,.. no it ISN'T mis-use of the horn. By the way he pulled in and how close he was, it's clear he wasn't aware of your presence, and you are ensuring he IS aware.
The perol-head moment at 16:58 is a 1934 Ford V8, chopped top etc. And at 27:00 that's a Citroen Light 15, probably assembled in Slough, 1949-53? Yes, I'd love to have some passenger tales from you. Greetings from Stockholm.
Normally on St Giles in Oxford, there are hordes of tourist crossing that wide road, not looking. You were lucky to find it so empty. Even the Oxford Pedestrians Association has come up with a plan to change that road to have separate fully marked lanes for pedestrians, cyclists and cars with a wide area for people to sit on the other side. As it is a short wide stretch in between 3 narrower roads, it isn't worth changing the speed limit for that bit of road. As for the road past the hospital to Marston, that is ridiculous. It is a recent layout with wider bicycle lanes, so they don't need to put beware of cycle signs in the centre. That only makes sense in places like Cowley Road which doesn't have cycle lanes. Also more people travel to work in Oxford by walking or cycling than take a car [Census 2021], so the street design tries to protect the more vulnerable majority from the car driving minority. That is all that the hierarchy means - how vulnerable are different road users from the bad driving shown your videos. Paying tax does not give anyone the right to put others at risk, no matter how much self entitlement car wax they use.
Too bad so many of the vulnerable road users can't be bothered with obeying the traffic lights and other rules of the road. They make themselves more vulnerable!
@@xo2quiltIt is wrong but cyclists who run reds are really only putting their own safety at risk, car drivers who do it are putting other peoples lives at risk.
I have had run ins with smilerbob myself "all cyclists have home insurance"; no they dont. "Yes they do, all my mates have home insurance". I dont. "But everyone I know has home insurance!" So you ask everyone you know?? I doubt it; I know a lot of people who ride bikes, because they are too poor for a car - which also means too poor to splash out on house insurance. Yet he still keeps copy/pasting the same crap.
The cyclists in Oxford also do what cyclists do in London & go through red lights, as my hubby found out the last time he was there & was crossing a road at a pedestrian crossing. He was nearly taken out by a cyclist & the little ****** swore at my Hubby as if to say how dare you cross in front of me!!!
Love your videos. I live in Cumbria and thankfully not too many arrogant motorists but we do have a lot of little roads where they are just about 2 cars wide and a lot of cyclists who decide they need to ride four abreast giving no room to overtake and not much room for cars coming towards them. They also seem to always give people dirty looks if they try and pass them.
I ride a motorbike a lot of the time and would never drive that near to the vehicle in front. Tales from the cab....Yes please. 20:14 might be the oxford version of the M25 (3 Lanes) without the traffic 22:50 British workforce must have had a couple of ciders the night before doing the cycle signs 26:00 BMW driver knows what damn exit he needs but they have to stay in the faaaaasssssssssssssttt lane until the very end. 27:00 Thats and old Citroen 29:00 Boy racer on a motorbike !!

The Highway Code states the horn is to be used to announce yourself as a danger to other road users. You used it correctly at 26.04 .
We have those bike signs in a few roads around Cheltenham - I have No idea what they are supposed to be for.
An old girlfriend, Gloria, had a Transit. Saw her at the side of the road once with the bonnet up, didn't stop, just wound the window down and called out "Sick Transit Gloria?"
The black car on the M25 is a Citroen Li-15.
Tales from the cab - it's a yes from me!! 😊👍
That was a really sneaky thing to do though, can't believe they tried to hide their baby!! I hope you let that family know how much danger they put everyone in (including your livelihood) 😢
Thanks for the Frazer-Nash recognition, I feel I should have known that! I owned two L15s back in 1968-69.
Love your stories. Please keep them coming 🇬🇧👍👍
Here Here and well said ❤
First petrolhead moment was a 1928 Frazer Nash 1500cc petrol. Don't know what the hotrod was but it looked nice. At 27:05 it was a 1952 Citroen 1911cc petrol.
at 20:40 that is one very wide lane each way - there are no lane-dividing markings, so it is a single lane
though going by the width of it, it probably used to be two lanes each way
Sheffield is nowhere near as extreme with speed limits as Oxford or Cambridge (there's far fewer cyclists, for a start - the only flat land is on top of some people's heads!), but you can definitely tell which major roads in the district are trunk routes, as opposed to council-run: they're only ones with National Speed Limit, all the others have 50 limits
Keep up the good work 😊
Hi Tony,
The blue car facing traffic, that you thought was parked in a layby,is in fact parked in the lane for turning left, very dangerous.
@@Greatballsoffire61 could have been broken down. You don't know. Don't jump to conclusions.
The petrol head moment at 27 mins is a Citreon of some sort I think.
Keep it coming first class sir
The last old car was a Citroën Light 15
@25:55,.. no it ISN'T mis-use of the horn.
Yes definitely a Citroen Light 15. My late father owned one.
Car on the trailer Tony is a Frazer Nash Sports 1500cc from 1928.
Thank you for your concise explanation. It's a pity it's so far down the list of comments.
@@xo2quiltIt is wrong but cyclists who run reds are really only putting their own safety at risk, car drivers who do it are putting other peoples lives at risk.
Stories from the cab good idea , we can all relate to stories dealing with the general public
I have had run ins with smilerbob myself "all cyclists have home insurance"; no they dont.
"Yes they do, all my mates have home insurance".
I dont.
"But everyone I know has home insurance!"
So you ask everyone you know?? I doubt it; I know a lot of people who ride bikes, because they are too poor for a car - which also means too poor to splash out on house insurance.
Yet he still keeps copy/pasting the same crap.
I'd be more concerned about the one million + uninsured cars on the road
@@Alan-xxxxxx What does that have to do with smilerbob?? Does he drive an uninsured car as well??
@ianemery2925 ? No idea who or what you are on about
@Alan-xxxxxx keep up mate, she's referring to the posts about smilerbob... cannot believe that name, he's too grumpy to smile!
@@heatherhoward2513 She? Ian Emery sounds like a male. Unless they identify otherwise.
Now there is a fking baby in the car 😂😂😂😂😂. Had it been packed, in a bag? Oh my god! Ppl p**s me off!
I ride a motorbike a lot of the time and would never drive that near to the vehicle in front.
Tales from the cab....Yes please.
20:14 might be the oxford version of the M25 (3 Lanes) without the traffic
22:50 British workforce must have had a couple of ciders the night before doing the cycle signs
26:00 BMW driver knows what damn exit he needs but they have to stay in the faaaaasssssssssssssttt lane until the very end.
27:00 Thats and old Citroen
29:00 Boy racer on a motorbike !!
