Is it possible to also spread seeds with the fertilizer?
I would not do that, the weed and feed would likely prevent grass seed from germinating.
Will be interested to see how the weeds look in a few weeks.
So far at the 7 day follow up, weeds are still lingering! Gonna give it another week before I bring out the big guns. 😂
Great clips man. Would love to get your thoughts on why my front lawn is dying in Florida. And what steps i should take..
You can message me on Instagram, Twitter, or email! Everything’s in the description. 👍🏼 thanks for watching!
Can I use this product on Bermuda grass?
No, I would not recommend using it on Bermuda.
Thank you
Salad is great for dinner, not in our beautiful turf! It’s starting to wake up and show er’ true green! Our trusty Scott’s spreaders.... 😳 they are suspect some times, but we rock em well! 🤣
And now this weeks temps will swing from lows in the 30s today to highs in the 80s on Friday. Welcome to Texas, home of indecisive weather...
Don’s Lawns 😳...... 50 degree swing?!? Yowzer!
How many times can I apply per year? I applied earlier April. When can I apply the second time?
Scott’s bonus s is usually recommended 1-2x a year (1x in spring, 1x in fall if needed). I’d use a regular fertilizer without herbicide for a summer feeding now.
@@donslawns1 thanks! any recommendations for the lawn feed in summer? Can I buy the the formula similar to the feed part of this product but without weed part?
@@forrestpanda I have affiliate links in my description if you’re interested in something online- YardMastery has great products like the Flagship fertilizer. If you want one from the store- Scott’s TurfBuilder is a good product, so is the Scott’s GreenMax!
@@donslawns1 Thanks very much! Sorry, I asked you too many questions. I have another, I noticed that a lot of people 's grass was burnt when they applied the Scott's lawn food(. They all reported that they followed the instructions and the food was suitable for their lawn. Have you ever made any video discussing about the reasons lead to the grass burning? Sorry, I may ask too much but just want to figure out why?
@@forrestpanda it could’ve been due to applying to a wet/damp lawn. It could’ve also been because their lawn was in drought conditions and then they gave it all those nutrients without giving enough water to help the lawn. There are many many reasons that could’ve happened, and it’s not just Scott’s that it happens with. Good questions!!
Nice yard.
In my opinion small yards are easier to take care of.
Plus Scotts is not cheap.
Thanks! Sometimes you can find fertilizer on clearance or discounted, which helps!
What does trim pass mean?
Trim pass is just a perimeter pass around your targeted area. Hope that helps!
@@donslawns1 yes. I tried to put some Scotts down last year and burnt my back yard. So now I am super nervous - I have small areas that look great but the weeds are just too much to manually remove. I' m not opposed to doing it I just can't keep up with them.
@@Th3StevenRoberts couple tips- make sure you measure your product for the area you are applying to. Also make sure your lawn is not wet when applying, then water it in after the application.
Edge guard off? That way its not wasted
Sometimes I use the edge guard for certain areas.
Don't you need to water first then fertilize?
No, you want to water the fertilizer down into the root zone. If you water first- the fertilizer will begin to react with the water on the grass canopy instead of getting down into the ground.
@@donslawns1 good to know. Great video! Should I mow the lawn shorter than regular? And also...can i fertilize in the evening
@@miklovelka2957 I wouldn’t mow it much shorter than normal. Fertilizing in the evening is fine, I would try to avoid watering in the evening though. 👍🏼
@@donslawns1 thanX a bunch. Blessings
Hey Don it’s me again quick question is Scott’s bonus S the same as Milorganite?
Some pretty big differences between the 2: Scott’s Bonus S is a synthetic “quick release” higher nitrogen based content product, with Atrazine (weed killer). Milorganite is a bio-solid derived “slow release” lower fertilizer content with iron for deeper greening.
Did it work?
I felt the product definitely weakened majority of the weeds!
Don’s Lawns I’m trying to get the St Augustine to take over my bermuda. I’m wondering if this will help suppress bermuda... St Aug wins in my shady areas but I have some full sun areas.
John Watkins it definitely suppresses Bermuda. Just wait and apply it in the spring when growing temps arrive!
Don’s Lawns great thanks!
Don’t forget to apply your Bonus S after soil temps are officially on the warming trend. Typically around late February to early March for coastal areas.
You're in the south right. I feel like that's a dumb question.
South Texas! 🤘🏼
You shouldn't be overlapping your application like that. That's the easiest way to end up with lawn burning. Simple back and forth is all that is needed. Also you need to be bagging your clippings seeing as your lawn is infested with weeds. Mow as high as possible and about twice a week.
Actually, I am applying the appropriate amount of lbs on the ground for the square footage. Video was published in March, so no worries for fertburn at my location. Some people end up with dark green stripes from NOT overlapping appropriately. My advice is to decrease your setting on your spreader and do the overlapping passes in different directions as I did (Maybe I didn’t mention it clearly). You should watch one of my more recent videos, and see that the lawn responded perfectly to my practices. Thanks for watching! 👍🏼
What the hell are you doing to your lawn?
