    I put down two maximum applications three months apart of Triple Action on a neighbor's bermuda lawn that he had neglected for 4 years. I was pleasantly surprised. It greened up the lawn fast and put a dent in the weeds which were choking his yard, so I had to spot spray the worst of the weeds with Image liquid weed killer and pump sprayer. For a lawn that bad with weeds, Triple Action is maybe not quite enough on its own and may need to also apply a separate pre-emergent like Anderson's every early spring.

    That Triple action is an excellent product. One important thing you didn't mention is that once it is put down, do not do any digging or raking or the preemergent barrier will be broken which will allow weed seeds to germinate in that area.

      Ok!! I may have done this all wrong...I applied it and 7 days later it seemed as if I had more weeds then I started with, so then I used a garden shovel to pull the weeds from The root...😢 what will happen now?

    • @ladyewo6778
      @ladyewo6778 Рік тому +1

      @@kantrellwalker3227 Because of the fertilizer in the mix weeds that were already germinated grew up faster. They were probably not noticeable upon application but would eventually turn brown and die off due to the herbicide. No worries, you can reapply to get the chemical barrier back depending on your grass type. Bermuda grass can stand more fertilizer, however if you have Centipede grass like me that's not a good idea because Centipede can't take higher doses of fertilizer. In that case Tenacity can be used to get back the preemergent quality but it's a liquid and requires tank mixing. I believe Scott's makes a granular form which contains the same active ingredient in Tenacity which is Mesotrion (sp) I believe it is. Also it only stays active for 30 days unlike the 4 months for the Triple action so repeat applications may be needed. Also, Celsius or Certainty are supposed to be awesome products. I don't recall which one is the preemergent and which one is post but they are supposed to last 60 days per application. Both are safe for Centipede grass. So many variables depending upon your grass type. I'm in the South so we grow warm season grasses. Not sure what area you are in.

    Diffrence I have noticed is the spring application (yellow bag) works better at feeding and killing weeds, the tripple action does not kill weeds or feed aswell, it does alright as a pre emerge but stand alone pree emerges work better. Get the spring bag and use any regular pre emerge for best results. I have went through 3 bags of tripple action personally and have given neighbors a few bags and it just dosnt perform.

    Timing is key. Easy peasy treatment from a woman who learned the hard way.
    1st Treatment:
    February 1-15: Scott's Triple Action if I have lingering winter weeds or Lesco pre-emergent if I dont have lingering winter weeds. If after March 1, then apply Scott's Weed n Feed (yellow bag) every 3 months during spring and summer. I may use a hose-end sprayer insecticide such as Sevin, Spectraside, or Scott's based off of what I observe while spreading. (Leafhoppers, european crane flies, moths, mole holes)
    Second Treatment:
    Late May but no later than June 15: I use the Scott's (orange bag) that has insect control. I also use Scott's GrubEx for grubs that will become June bugs if untreated.
    Third Treatment:
    Late September or near October 1: Apply Scott's Fall Guard (red bag) heavy. You may also want to treat for european crane flies that will emerge if untreated in Spring.
    Fourth Treatment:
    December 15: Even though my Bermuda is dormant, I put down another Scott's Fall Guard (red bag) treatment to prevent winter weeds that will emerge in February and March.

    I have used Scott's fertilizer for most of thirty years. I used the, Triple Action on two seasons. As always I followed directions. The Triple Action, did not kill any of my weeds, it did not prevent any of my weeds, or crabgrass. I hope it at least fertilized. I will never buy it again. Contacted Scott's and didn't get any satisfaction. Irritated me so much that I have changed to, The Andersons fertilizers.

    • @ladyewo6778
      @ladyewo6778 2 роки тому +4

      There are some weeds it will not kill. You have to identify your weeds and get the specific killer for that weed. For example Crabgrass is a grass so is not affected after it has already germinated. You need crabgrass killer. The TA will prevent crabgrass seeds from germinating but timing is crucial. I have yellow nutsedge in my lawn that TA does not kill so I have to use sedgehammer in addition to TA. TA works on everything else in my lawn.

Do you know if I put down a Scott's product specifically for killing crabgrass, would it be okay or safe to also put down the scotts weed and feed at the same time or within a short term afterwards, such as within a few days to a week?

    I have used Scott’s products for many years and have always had good success. Another good thing about Scott’s used to be their customer service but the last few times I’ve called, the customer service has awful. I was in a big box store looking at two different fertilizers and trying to decide which one to purchase. I called the number on the bag and just like the last time I called, I got someone on the phone with poor communication skills that had no knowledge of the product. She put me on hold and came back and asked me the bar code number on the two products. I was put on hold again and when she returned she began to read the label verbatim. I’d already read the labels on both products but I still had some questions. The person that answered the phone was no help whatsoever. There was once a time that Scott’s had knowledgeable customer service reps, or could at least connect you with someone that was knowledgeable. I still like their products, but you have to figure out on your own which one to use. The same thing happened when I called to inquire about their subscription service. The person I spoke with went to the website and read back to me (in very poor English) exactly what I’d already read. I chose not to participate in the subscription service.

    Hello, I am a first time home buyer. I have just a little over 1/2 anchor lot and in Mid April I used Scots Blue bag. We had a lot of rain... and the grass is nice and green! Its also very thick. I really liked the results.
    once the rain has stopped... about couple weeks I noticed lots of dandelions. I pulled about 4 bucket of Dandelions. I than cut my grass the HIGHEST setting possible...
    The next day Early morning I did the Scotts Weeds & Feed (Wet Grass). about 10 hours later, it rained for about 11 hours. its been one day now, and I do see some new dandilions coming up from the ground. I guess a few things here. 1. Since the application was applied correct in the morning and stuck to everything, did the rain ruin the weed part? Granted prob helped the fertilizer... but is it best to apply to morning grass, and let it sit 24 - 48 hours before any water hits the grass... besides next day morning dew? Did i just kill the whole purpose of my weed and feed?

    • @GeoHoleNoNe
      @GeoHoleNoNe 2 роки тому +1

      Is there such thing as over fertilizing?
      Do you think i should get some of that spray and start hand spraying some of those dandelions?
      I also want to know... since my grass i dont think was taken care of very well from the previous owners, that blue bag really helped at the start of this season. My friend told me, he puts the BLUE BAG on late fall before winter as well... so that way it will be even more green next season. Is that ok to do the Blue Bag and the end of the season AND early Spring as well - instead of doing the Winterize bag?

    • @BYDonBermudaGrassCentral

      You get the best weed control in the fall, generally 2X a year is permissible but check the information on the bag. About a license, you cannot apply these products for hire on someone else's property. If your lawn has a weed problem, it may require more than one season to get it looking decent. BYD is a great place to learn about making the most of your lawn on the cheap.

Afterwards I’d like to apply another round of fertilizer. Thoughts…suggestions? Thanks BTW I’m on the MS Gulf coast.

      That’s sounds great but you’ll be in for a long recovery ❤️‍🩹 time to do all that. Each of there weed and feed products recommend only use twice a year. Triple action 4 months a part. No, both should not be used at same time.

      Ah! Not too bad and you’re right, every lawn is different. Mine Zoysia btw. I bought a thatching rake today and a few shallow passes and wow the dead thatch or cuttings that came out was amazing. The lawn is only a year old and has always been bagged.

    Hello, question. So I planted watermelons months ago in my back yard. Couple days ago I weed and feed my backyard and now I’m worried it might affect my watermelons. Will they be safe to eat? I did not spray too close to the watermelons but it is the same backyard. Thank you.

    • @BYDonBermudaGrassCentral
      @BYDonBermudaGrassCentral  2 роки тому

      Wait a few days after the mow or wait a couple of days before the mow when weeds are actively growing. Lawn must be wet and moist when you apply this formula

      Depends what you need. If you haven’t added Pre emergent then Triple action. If you already did a separate pre emergent then regular weed and feed.

    First time homeowner here with a Bermuda lawn That looks like it never quite too when installed in September of 2021. Weeds are everywhere. I have the bio advanced weed n feed for southern lawns. Can I add this and a traditional turf builder, or will that be too much?

    • @BYDonBermudaGrassCentral
      @BYDonBermudaGrassCentral  2 роки тому

      You’ll have to read the product label of each to see what they say about new sod. I’d use a liquid weed kill for lawns. If you’ve mowed that lawn 4-5 time and that Bio advance does not have a pre emergent you should be good to go. READ label before you apply.
