    I just happened to stumble onto your video, Great stuff! I guess it would be the same swap for my 68 Montego. Thanks!

      Much appreciated! I cleaned it up a little bit, surprisingly the primer undercoating is still in great shape!

    Good tips. I laughed at every one of your "ooohs" at the beginning. And for me, adjusting external linkages might be slightly intimidating. But besides changing a filter, any time I have to take off the pan to put tools on the inside, I'm major intimidated! LOL

      Haha i knew the C4 was toast but had no idea it was that bad. I think if you take the time to do it slow it will come out great!

    Cool deal. I did the same type of swap of my 69 F100. It was really an easy swap.😁

      Definitely a lot more simple than people make it out to be

    It's funny that you have a "Bob Mercury." Around here, we have a "Mustang Bob."

    Suggestion next time put floor jacks or a jack under the rearend to ride height then measure your driveshaft length but looks hood I’m doing the same on a 71 mustang Mach 1

      Omar’s Torino currently has 3.00 gears although that is a pretty high highway gear. This style transmission can be found in 1990s Mercury Grand Marquis and those cars had a standard gear ratio of 2.73. So it definitely could be worse. The plan is to eventually put a lower gear ratio with a limited slip, but he really wants to keep the Torino as a very reliable daily driver option that it has always been and focus heavy on the 64 Galaxie along with the 1964 Comet Cyclone this year.

    Be aware: short-stroke carbureted engines lose efficiency and mileage in around-town driving if the final gear ratio is under 2:80. So, if your present gearset is a 3.25, your final drive with the AOD is going to be 2.16. You will be hating life. I've seen numerous people make this mistake over the last 30 years. Unless this is a highway-only car, it's going to bog in 4th. If your Tor has an 8-inch, I suggest a 4.11 or 4.62 rear gear, which will put final at 2.74 or 3.08, respectively. This avoids the bog and makes off-the-line acceleration much snappier. I'm doing this trans swap into a car with a 9-inch using 4.86 gears for a final of 3.24.

      Thanks for the info, the Torino actually has a 9 inch rear end that I got from a montego. Swapping to a taller gear will definitely be in the future. I was thinking of a 4.11 or higher, but we’ll see what I can find!

      Cool. Just thought I'd check on your plans. I knew one guy who put a built 351W in his Mustang with an AOD and 3.70's. The car was useless in OD under 100 mph (big cam didn't help). You would think the extra stroke would help, but he still had to gear up to make use of the AOD. Keep up the good work! @@OmarRamirezGalaxie

    I put a lokar linkage kit on my F100 with a 4r70w. Good kit but using the stock column shift I had to get creative with the linkage bend

    • @OmarRamirezGalaxie
      @OmarRamirezGalaxie  5 місяців тому

      Haha yes definitely a lot more time making bends for the column shifter. Luckily the floor shifter wasn’t too complicated

    Great video. Also enjoyed the Haggerty Tom Cotter video you were in. Question about that T5 - does the yard not care about cutting the drive shaft? Seems to me that is one less part they can sell, but I guess that is the nature of the place.....

      @OmarRamirezGalaxie  3 місяці тому

      Thanks much appreciated! We ended up not cutting the driveshaft, I will have another video with the T5 removal and plans for it!
