The thoughts that are keeping you awake are coming from your subconscious mind. Sometimes they are obvious things you are stressing over. But sometimes they are subsurface, so they can't be identified. Either way, you can shut them down by gently talking to your subconscious mind. In a slow, very relaxed manner start saying in your mind, "Stop, stop, stop". View it like it's a soothing mantra. That alone will relieve some or all of the underlying stress. Just keep going with it. This temporarily overrides the thoughts coming from your subconscious mind and eventually convinces it that you don't want those thoughts. After a few minutes, see if you can then fall asleep. If not then start doing it again. Some people can get to sleep by merely counting upwards (in their mind) in a slow, relaxed manner. Repeating any phrase will temporarily override your subconscious thoughts.

Hi doctor please help me. I usually tend to play football intensely from 21:00 to 22:30. Despite of not using my phone and doing easily stretching exercise to cool down after playing football, I'm struggling to falling to deep sleep. Please give me advice. If you guys have like this problem or solution to that, please share your experiences, I apprecitate it.
Hi there! first of all im a nurse specialist - not a doc (much better ha) Playing football late at night can definitely make it harder to fall into a deep sleep, and you're not alone in this! Here's why and what you can do to improve your sleep quality: 1️⃣ Exercise Timing: Intense activity close to bedtime can keep your body temperature and adrenaline levels elevated, which may interfere with sleep. If possible, try shifting your football sessions earlier in the evening. 2️⃣ Relaxation Techniques: You're already cooling down with stretches, which is great! Add in some deep breathing exercises or mindfulness meditation to help lower your heart rate and signal to your body that it's time to rest. 3️⃣ Post-Exercise Routine: After football, try taking a warm, soothing shower or bath, this can help your body and muscles relax, making it easier to fall asleep. 4️⃣ Nutrition: Avoid heavy meals, caffeine, or sugary drinks late at night as these can disrupt your sleep cycle. Opt for something light if you're hungry after playing. If these tips don’t help, feel free to share more details about your routine, and we’ll figure it out together. Also, to everyone else reading this-have you faced similar issues? Drop your experiences and solutions below! Let’s help each other out. 😊
Love the advice on sleep! And also, like you mentioned in the comment section, listening to white noise may help improve sleep quality. Personally, I like to listen to nature sounds like rain and thunder, and gentle flowing water sounds from a brook. I haven't tried the particular breathing technique you mentioned so I'm gonna give that a go! Thanks and subscribed!

What is the quantity of caffeine or guaranine? With most pre-workouts I'd be awake with heart palpitations all night unless taken before a 10:00 am workout, or earlier.
If you can’t fall asleep it is still better to stay in bed. Getting up just reinforces a bad habit and just lying in bed is beneficial to the body even if you don’t sleep. Another important point is that early sleep is more restful and rejuvenating than later sleep even if you manage to get the same amount of actual sleep, so get into bed early in the evening rather than staying up late. How is that NHS working for everyone over in Britishstan?
@matktapley7571 Fact: everyone is different, all suggestions are helpful to get to understand what best applies to you. Nifty, eh? What's with the condescending question at the end of your comment?

White noise can also help people to fall asleep. The noise masks disruptive sounds and creates a calming environment. It promotes faster sleep onset, and deeper rest, and can be soothing for babies.

It maybe better to say : depends on individual environment ( if you feel too hot , make it cooler when one ready to sleep; if you feel too cold make it warmer when you get ready to sleep).
it has been 40 + hours of me trying to sleep i just cant fall asleep no matter what i try, im tired, im sleepy too but when i get into bed i would lie there fro hours and just cant sleep.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m really sorry to hear you’re going through this. Not being able to sleep for such a long time can be incredibly frustrating and exhausting. It sounds like your body is feeling the need for sleep, but something might be preventing it from settling into a restful state. Here are a few things that may help: 1. Relaxation Techniques: Try calming methods like deep breathing, meditation, or progressive muscle relaxation. These can help ease tension and signal your body that it’s time to sleep. 2. Sleep Environment: Make sure your room is dark, quiet, and cool. Even small changes like reducing light or noise can make a big difference. 3. Avoid Stimulants: Caffeine, certain medications, and even stress hormones can keep you wired. Try avoiding these, especially before bedtime. 4. Get Out of Bed: If you’re lying awake for a long time, sometimes it’s better to get out of bed, do a quiet activity (like reading or listening to calming music), and then try again once you’re feeling more relaxed. If this persists, please consider reaching out to a healthcare professional, as prolonged sleeplessness can have underlying causes that need attention. I hope you find some rest soon!

Are you able to sleep earlier - that 4am wake up must be tough! If not then catching up with a nap if you need to - make sure it’s not too late in the day
Naps are the worse. If I am tired, it takes an hour or two to fall asleep. If I give in to taking a nap, it makes me feel worse…. I don’t understand why people think they help.
If I tell you do not think about the banana 🍌, first you imagine the banana and then you have to remove that image from your brain. It is better to directly put in your brain an image that brings tranquility to you.
I drink green tee with a few pieces of chocolate before bed and sleep like a baby. 😊 Relaxation videos on Acidalia Planitia Channel also is a huge help.
@@NurseSarahJeffries , there's caffeine in green tea. So, sipping green tea before bed could help you if you're struggling with your sleep. That's because L-theanine is found in green tea! White noise can also help people to fall asleep. The noise masks disruptive sounds and creates a calming environment. It promotes faster sleep onset, and deeper rest, and can be soothing for babies.
thanks a lot
You are most welcome

So you never wake up from being hot?
This was all the problems I was facing to go to sleep, your video miss, came like a magic bullet, I'm doing good last couple days, also also I love the accent, are you from the UK???
That’s so great to hear!! Yes I’m from north Uk 🇬🇧
I'm also from the UK 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
1:11 lol like my comment if your wake and it night time were your at
Good info.
Glad it was helpful!
My sleep coach advised to get up at the same time every day but only to go to bed when tired, this is not necessarily the same time every day.
If it’s working for you that’s great.
Excellent
Thank you so much 😀
I have school today it is 4 in the morning I have to wake up in two hours
Not everyone feel comfortable with 65 degree F or 18 degree C. That is way too cold for me or most people living in South East Asia.
Even if it’s just a little cooler? - the body sleep better when the body and room is cooler
@@NurseSarahJeffries thanks. I do agree just a little cooler does help in falling asleep.
It maybe better to say : depends on individual environment ( if you feel too hot , make it cooler when one ready to sleep; if you feel too cold make it warmer when you get ready to sleep).
18c is wayyy too hot to sleep in. I live in England and the ideal sleeping temp is 10c.
No chance to reach 18 degree except in winter.
I drink a pop called Pepsi Zero an hour before bed: yes it has caffeine, but it relaxes me. (for what it is worth).
it has been 40 + hours of me trying to sleep i just cant fall asleep no matter what i try, im tired, im sleepy too but when i get into bed i would lie there fro hours and just cant sleep.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I’m really sorry to hear you’re going through this. Not being able to sleep for such a long time can be incredibly frustrating and exhausting. It sounds like your body is feeling the need for sleep, but something might be preventing it from settling into a restful state.
Here are a few things that may help:
It’s 9:26 rn I need sleep and I keep thinking about the time..
I can't do it without checking the time
You can…. Put your phone in another room!
Thats the sleep yoga (yoga nindra) practiced by ancient yogis
Tried ALL of these and can’t fall asleep at all! Not even for a few minutes. My doctor told me to take Unisom but it really didn’t help.
Melatonin Benadryl, Lunesta Ambien… Valerian root… There’s a ton of supplements on Amazon
Not working for me. Went to bed at 11PM, followed all the advice in the video, but still awake 6 hours later.
it takes time and consistency
Please use captions
Can u auto turn them on?
I am ready it's my fìr

If I am hungry before bed, there is no way I will fall asleep.

I'm a student and also I'm working ! My sleep hours is b/n 11:00pm-4:00 am ..but i can also take a nap if i want ( but i dont know if its good ) ..but nowadays im feeling sleepy during z morning hours ...i would love to hear if u got any advice for me but I do have about 2 hours free during mid day, should I use z's hours to compensate my sleep ...tnks ...i just got introduced to u tdy
Welcome!! 🤗
Are you able to sleep earlier - that 4am wake up must be tough! If not then catching up with a nap if you need to - make sure it’s not too late in the day
Thanks for replying
I can make it 10:30 pm ..How many hours is it healthy to take a nap?
By z way I have been watching some of U're videos tdy ...thank u Soo much ..they are helpful
You're nap should not be longer than 40mins
Wow when I first saw u I thought u were Sonya Walger., I got lost for a second. sorry, great tips, will try
😊 thank you
Naps are the worse. If I am tired, it takes an hour or two to fall asleep. If I give in to taking a nap, it makes me feel worse…. I don’t understand why people think they help.
They work wonder for some. I’ve worked shifts for years and I can take a quick 10 min cat nap if I needed and feel refreshed - but others….no way!!
i cant sleep before 5am, my older sister told me because im used to sleeping late
Do not say don't think, because the brain doesn't understand the no. Tell the brain to think about something calming
Not necessarily true. A meditative state is simply achieved with little practice.
Definitely takes practice. But yeah if you can’t think then that’ll work too
If I tell you do not think about the banana 🍌, first you imagine the banana and then you have to remove that image from your brain. It is better to directly put in your brain an image that brings tranquility to you.
I have ADHD and I see things like monsters which is my mind have any Advice?
Practice helps. Keep at it

Smirnoff is poison but Gin is not , that's what you want to say , right 😂😂😂 You can have a wonderful career as a nurse in Uganda, by the way 😂😂😂
No need for nurse Sarah to go to Africa. P.M.’s and parliament have been flooding Britain with those peaceful, high I.Q Africans for decades.

I drink green tee with a few pieces of chocolate before bed and sleep like a baby. 😊 Relaxation videos on Acidalia Planitia Channel also is a huge help.
Awesome 👏🏻 The caffeine in the choc doesn’t affect you?
@@NurseSarahJeffries , there's caffeine in green tea. So, sipping green tea before bed could help you if you're struggling with your sleep. That's because L-theanine is found in green tea! This is an amino acid with a number of great properties. It helps you relax and reduces anxiety, which will be a huge benefit if you struggle to sleep each night.
Dude It's 3: 42 AM here And I have Exams At 11 😢
