"The real monsters are humans." So well put! And a great list as always!
I love Spring! Also I love the relationship of Liz and Shaun in Shaun of the Dead.
Spring and May are sooo underappreciated. Such a great list very solid choices!!
Thanks!!
Emma, you will find that the road from 100K to 200K is not nearly as long and hard as the road from 0 to 100K. Your channel is a joy.
Thanks David
Spring was CRAZY! Ahhhhh I was scared you weren't going to mention The Loved Ones it's my FAVORITE horror!
A honorable mention is Return of the living dead part 3, has also a decent (sometimes cheesy) love story.
Also Braindead had a great love story.
Liked the movie Spring, I actually heard that movie made that small Italian town really popular and became a tourist hotspot
i'm single and knew that i wanted to take a bubble bath and watch a movie for valentine's day but i couldn't figure out what movie i wanted to watch until this! i'm going with Bride of Chucky. literally perfect! thanks!! :)
Love the list! esp May, if it wasn’t on there I think I would have lost it. What about Boxing Helena ? & both versions of Let the Right One In & Heathers ? Also The Trip would be a great couples bonding flick!
Happy V Day Emma!
I love this list! Spring and After Midnight sound like a perfect double feature for Valentine's Day!
'the loved ones' is a must see movie if you're single lmao. its such a good movie
I always think of My Bloody Valentine
I definitely like this list. For me though, the perfect mix of love, romance, & horror is Bram Stoker's Dracula.
More like Coppola´s Dracula. There are not romance or love in the novel.
@@dani3po There’s absolutely romance and love in the novel! It’s got some really beautiful (and terrifying) prose about love and the relationships of the characters are integral to the plot.
@@serenacelestine The main romance plot of the movie (Mina/Dracula) is not on the novel. She has no relation to Dracula. She is not the reincarnation of his wife. In fact, the Mina from the novel is a kick-ass female character as valid as her male partners who only wants to kill Dracula. The movie turned her into a love interest. And what Coppola did to Lucy is even worse.
What a great list!
The fact that you started with 'Spring' made me smile - that movie is simply breathtaking.
Thank you!
Love the films of Benson & Moorhead, and “Spring” is my favourite for the fact that it’s as romantic as it is creepy. May is a pretty fun ride as well. “After Midnight” sounds like the perfect pick for V-Day.
Ohh I so happy you started with Spring!! Loved it ❤️
Love this list, especially Spring. The Bloody Valentines - both 1981 and 2009 - are a guilty pleasure this time of the year.
@@Craig121000 good point! I shouldn’t always be trying to challenge my brain. Pure enjoyment shouldn’t make one feel guilty. Cheers 🍻.
These are great! I would also add Mandy and (for fun) Tucker & Dale vs Evil.
Mandy is a great suggestion!!
You can't forget Valentine and the 1981 classic My Bloody Valentine or the inferior remake of the same title. Otherwise, I agree with all your pics. p.s. I finally watched The Lords of Chaos....as soon as it finished I immediately ordered my own copy. What a movie!!! Thank you for the recommendation 😊.
Spring is a masterpiece. I love Benson & Moorehead work since "Resolution", which i think is their best movie. Synchronic was a disappointment though. It seems the larger the budget, the worse the movie is.
There's a mostly forgotten one from 1993 directed by David Lynchs daughter, Jennifer, called BOXING HELENA. It stars Sherilyn Fenn from Twin Peaks and Julian Sands. It's a really trippy film. Check it out if you have not seen it!
So true, it would be hard to describe it to someone without them thinking it was awful. But, it truly is a great movie. I found it strangely uplifting and I'm glad you mentioned it. I hadn't seen it in over 25 years, kind of forgot about it until now. Will have to see it again soon.
I love that you mentioned Spring. I watched another UA-cam vid of the same ilk that omitted it and I was like "Hey, c',mon, Spring is the creme de la creme of the season".
Almost 100%. I haven't seen After Midnight only. I know what to watch now. Thanks Em.
Enjoy my friend!
I REALLY wanna see Spring! Thanks, Emma!
“Only Lovers Left Alive” is another great one to enjoy with a partner who may not be too into horror.
The horror of romance! My favorite genre. I’ve seen every movie on your list. Here are a few of my favorites:
Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night
Why Don’t You Just Die
The Lure
Border
Colossal
Vivarium
The One I Love
Burning
Get Out
The Rusalka
The Fare
and I think I’d like to add Titane
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
And I love you brought up The Lovely Ones, that is such a disturbingly scary film, love it!
everything. I've seen them all. Spring & Midsommar are my faves. great list recommendations!
I'm still watching but I'd recommend The Siren (Shudder, in Canada at least). A similar vibe to Spring, I'd say.
Ooh this is a great list!! My favourite horror romance is Only Lovers Left Alive with Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston. Hope you have a lovely, gory Valentines Day!!❤️
also My Bloody Valentine (1981) or Valentine (2001) are sooo good
I really like "Let the Right One In"!
Great list… but you got me thinking about couple that would be a good additions “What Keeps You Alive” and “it Stains the Sand Red”, I’m sure you have seen but if not, these are 2 awesome horrors ❤️❤️
Come on,Emma. If one movie can bring us all together, it's 'Shaun Of The Dead!' 😉
When you and possessedbyhorror drop the same movie topic I’m so here for it my top two horror channels❤️
The Loved Ones is one of my favorite movies!! Awesome list(s) !
Both these lists are great! I always have fond memories of May, having watched it a lot younger than I should have been.
I feel like Spontaneous went right under the radar. I found it to be a nice surprise. Glad to see it get a mention!
Emma I know you made this list just to find another good reason to recommend May again. Thanks.
Hahaha always trying to get people to watch May!
Warm bodies, Ready or not & Happy death day can be perfect watch for valentine day😊 .Fun and horror gets mixed up 😁
Good list but needs My Bloody Valentine!
Thanks for the list, Emma. There are some heart warmers and heartbreakers on both lists. When it comes to Valentine's Day, it can truly be the best or worst day of the year, depending on circumstances. If I could add a couple of my favorite Valentine thrillers, they would be LEAVE HER TO HEAVEN (1945), THE VILLAGE (2004) and the one film I was a bit surprised wasn't on your lists, HE LOVES ME, HE LOVES ME NOT (2002, French film w/Audrey Tautou).
thanks for making this list
I would add "Let the right one in", amazing movie!
Did you ever watch Sadistic Intentions ? It is kind 9f a date movie gone wrong. The actor from After Midnight is in it. I thought it had very good dialogue. And I love the contained setting. I think a good idea for a list would be horror movies with best setting/production design.
Great suggestions! Thanks so much.
Some great choices and a few I haven't seen! I love Happy Death Day, and its Sequel '2 U'.
These are some Awesome recommendations n especially Shaun Of The Dead which is one of My Favorite movies!
Love the vid and recommendations Em, i have to say i think i love the anti-vday list more because it makes me appareciate how healthy my relationship is lol plus its more fun
Throwing 'Nina Forever' into the hat as a suggestion - though i'm not really sure which of your two categories it'd fall in :P
Sooooo happy to see midsommar on this list 🥰
I'm gonna sound a little "out there" for this, but I honestly think that The Night House was a surprisingly heartfelt, oddly romantic movie for a horror. It basically comes down to (and I'll try and keep it as spoiler free and vague as possible) someone doing anything they can for the one they love, and fighting to be the right person for someone you love. That said, I may also be reading very deep into it.
As for a good break up/never wanna see another person again movie, I feel like you nailed it with Ready or Not and Midsommar. Both movies that show how much it sucks to be suckered in by someone who you think loves you, only for them to manipulate you when it suits them.
Sightseers is ideal for camping with your loved one
First off, may you and Dean have a safe and Happy Valentine's Day Emma. My favorite Valentine Day horror movie I love to watch is Bram Stoker's Dracula. Of course, there's My Bloody Valentine, the original and the remake and then, the horror movie called Valentine.
Thanks Miser
Awesome video Emma! The Loved Ones is def one of my favorites, love it 💜
My favorite romantic horror movie is 2014's Honeymoon. The one with Rose Leslie and Harry Treadaway. This movie perfection!
"Honeymoon" is a great romantic one, too.
Bit harsh John, guess I’m brain dead
@@spookyastronauts So am I, I guess ...
I was definitely going to post a comment about Midsommar if you didn't say anything so good on you for mentioning it. I needed some time after that movie to reevaluate some relationships I had.
There's a movie that stuck with me for a while and while it's not romantic or sexual, it's more of a pure childlike love. When I watched Let the Right One In, that movie touched me since it's about a young boy dealing with bullies forming a friendship with a small vampire. They help each other out with their problems and they eventually ride off on a train together.
Alone With You is a pretty great, low-budget horror that just started streaming (in America at least), and fits the theme well. It's about a girl planning a homecoming for her girlfriend when things around her begin to get a bit more...eerie. It's really divisive, especially the ending, but I really enjoyed it when I saw it at a festival last year, and am looking forward to revisiting.
Fantastic list, Emma! Have seen all the movies on the list, but they all pair so well with Valentine’s Day. Married for years but personally partial to the films listed for watching solo. Maybe because spouse hates horror so I’m generally on my own for scares. Excellent picks!
I'm a little surprised "My Bloody Valentine" didn't make the list
You forgot Let the Right One In! It’s my favorite horror romance ever!!!
Such a great! list! Warm Bodies is my favorite movie.
Love Spring, May, Midsommar, and Shaun of the Dead!
Great list! “Spring” is one of my favorites. I’d also add “100 Bloody Acres” to the list. It’s a light, fun horror comedy and quite sweet in a twisted (and very bloody) way.
After Midnight is a super under rated film that I just dont hear talked about enough
Thanks for the great list, as always! There were a couple here I haven't seen, so I know what I'll be looking for this weekend... 🙂
Enjoy Kate!
Valentine (2001) is my favorite valentine horror movi.
More great content!! I watched Pet on your recommendation Emma and loved it!!!
I love Shaun of the Dead, though I hate Zombies - That says a lot! I must watch Pet! Your lists are always amazing!
Return of the Living Dead part 3. It's Romeo and Juliet like Warm Bodies, but Juliet this time is a badass redhead who is doing everything she can to not eat her bf's brains.
Request: When St. Patrick's Day comes, can you do a video on Irish horror movies?
Giving out some love here for Tim Burton! Especially Sweeney Todd, Nightmare before Christmas and the Legend of Sleepy Hollow. But really, most of his movies.
This is such a great list!!! Watching the loved ones for the first time is a highlight for me in the last few years. So frickin good 😂
My favorite thriller to watch on Valentine's day is Hard Candy with Elliot Page and Patrick Wilson.
Another more romantic movie I'd suggest is Tucker and Dale VS Evil! Like Shaun of the Dead and Warm Bodies, it leans more towards comedy than horror, but there's some good gore
Everytime... Everytime... 10 more movies to add to my list
Horror's my favorite movie genre and most of my horror viewing used to be only from Sept to Dec because that's my favorite time of year but now because of these holiday videos you produce I'm expanding my horror holiday horizon. Horizon or horizons? I don't know. Anyway, thanks 👍.
would only add my bloody valentine 81, cherry falls, and valentine 01.
Thank You
Spontaneous broke my heart
I was expecting Antichrist to be on here
Hahahah sicko!
I'm going to watch 1981's "My Bloody Valentine" for the first time, cause why not watch a holiday themed slasher?
Great list, but I can't believe Audition wasn't on it. Definitely a dark times Valentine's must.
I don't like them, but somehow love Hostel 2. Also, I think Deathgasm can sorta be included in here.
Oooo I haven't seen Pet, I'll have to check that out! Great lists!
Oh wow ! You’ll love it Rob!
I only watch two movies potentially on Valentine´s Day (with a date):
Either Martyrs (even though I don´t like the movie myself, but it was so funny when they recommended it on Movie Fights) or Blue Valentine (also argued in the same Movie Fights with the one difference, that I actually really like Blue Valentine) !
If you manage to sit through either of these two films, WITH ME, without leaving, you deserve a place in my heart
May is so good and underrated.
I am pretty sure I have the top score for watching May. I watch it all the time.
I’ve seen all of them except After Midnight!!!
I recommend Odd Thomas for the romantic list
I love May so much! 😅
The only ones I haven’t seen are Spring, Spontaneous, and After Midnight. All the others are fantastic, great list! May is one of my favorites just in general but maybe since I have a partner now I should watch After Midnight as it’s been on my list for a while lol.
I've seen most of these but id suggest the indie home invasion movie Villians on hulu and of course the fear street trilogy for some campy queer horror and romance.
Good list Emma
Surprised My Bloody Valentine didn't make it on this list lol
Valentine movie recommend for you "Blowing Up Right Now" (2019) ~ Sorry it's not horror, but worth a mention for anyone looking for Valentine-ish-themed movies ~ If you're engaged throughout the whole movie there's a moment, that while it lasts for only a few seconds, is worth the watch! If you feel it, you'll know what I'm talking about! The end credits song is pretty fire too! Personally I like to listen to it at 1.25x speed ~ Hopefully someone out there will find some enjoyment in this movie and/or song! The song name is "Nothing Lasts Forever (And It's Fine)" by Flora Cash~
Another awesome list Emma, I think Pet is a bit of an underseen gem 💎
For sure! I wish I could have said more about it but didn’t want to spoil it!
great list, emma! a couple of others i love for this time of year would be the strangers, vacancy, mandy and the love witch!
I love Spontaneous so much!! I do want to check out May and After Midnight 😊
The Loved Ones is superb!!!! I would add In Fear to the couples list
