    Making giant messes, that I do not have to clean up, is one of my favorite things about refrigeration repair. Nice job.

    I did once braze up a leak like that for a customer that was closing their business in a months time. Cut the pipe off flush with the compressor, cleaned all the paint off and made the hole a bit bigger and silver soldered it, had a lot of wet rags on the compressor and nitrogen flowing to try and keep the heat away from the windings. Told them it was kill or cure and luckily it worked!

    Funny story that happened years ago as a junior tech going on my on service/maintenance by myself. Doing PM work for convenient store, thought I would take the extra step of washing this really impacted self contained drink reach in. Decided to blow it out not realizing the amount of dust and ended up clouding up the whole store before I knew it. good times learning hahaha

    In the past when I tried to save money it always cost me double. Now I buy once cry once. You shelled out for the Sunjoe now you have to buy the first choice. It's always like this it seems. Trust me I have been bit by the same thinking too many times.

    Thank you for this video.
    I agree with compressor replacement decision. The moisture, that this compressor has pooled in for a while, has already damaged the quality of the oil in the system, and it became acidic which is destructive to the compressor windings. Besides, the water vaporizer coil, "the condensate loop" in the condensate pan, was also heavily corroded, and sooner or later, it would have chewed a hole (in that coil). Therefore, both jobs can be done on the same time; easier to replace this coil with the compressor out of the way.
    Kind regards,
    Arpi

    I have repaired the suction line by cleaning it back a sleeving 1/2 copper over it and brazing to the compressor. Best option is to replace of course but at a pinch I have done it and last as copper won't rust out.

    use same washer, broke this pipe too and installed flexible hose(clear braded) and connected with existing hose via reducer and burb connector. love this pump. battery last forever, ideal for minisplits undoors cleaning and reach in condensers cleaning.

    Came across those by the tons, I think now when you get a new one it’s built like a Copeland does it,at the suction port it’s copper now. As soon as you opened it up and seen the txt I thought it was the leaky danfoss compressor. Then you led me astray only to return to the compressor.🤣

    I wonder how much more expensive it would be to manufacture if those compressors had a suction stub made from stainless? It's not just Danfoss, I've seen it on countless others. It doesn't help if the suction line is lagged right up to the compressor body, as the surface of that stub never gets a chance to dry out.

    man that condenser reminded me of these two weird glycol chillers a local brewery had... right by where they fill their grain. Just blowing them out with co2 it was like desert storm, I couldnt see 4 feet from me. In hindsight i prob should have hosed em out considering sloped floor with a drain woops!

      @@davejohnsonnola1536 great information. I was thinking u needed a liquid receiver with a txv in refrigeration. Thanks again 🇺🇸💪❄👍

    • @davejohnsonnola1536
      @davejohnsonnola1536 2 роки тому +1

      @@shine-cg9uf by no means expert, but I believe that all units without a receiver would be considered "critically charged" . Like Dave said in the video, need to weigh out to get a better diagnostic, and weigh back in exact amount of refrigerant to start fresh.
      At a low load condition, refrigerant will back up and fill more of the condenser with liquid.
      If repairs are made, say the condensate tubing loop that sits in drained water is replaced with a homemade one with fewer turns and less total length, the total charge may be slightly reduced.
      However, if while making that repair, the filter drier is replaced with a larger one, charge may need to be an ounce or three more, but still very near the stated factory amount.
