That’s how the military rolls clothes. Start very tight and keep it snug. You should be able to throw it very hard against a wall and it’ll never come undone.
I used the rolling method because I desperately wanted to take as much clothes with me when we evacuated for hurricane Irma and it worked. Thankfully Miami wasn’t impacted as hard as other regions. But not having electricity for a week was horrible some over month.
Giovanna Vignoni I’m aware others had it worse that’s why I also said “Thankfully Miami wasn’t impacted as hard as other regions!” Because we most definitely dodge a bullet. My parents are Hurricane Andrew survivors when it hit Homestead FL in 92’
Not all hotels have them. If people are going to all this packing effort to avoid bringing massive suitcases to not have extra luggage fees at airports, they'll probably be staying at cheaper hotels that won't supply shampoo etc. ;-)
@ Nicole - Exactly. Just get it from a local store. As a general rule, most things you need should available at your destination. If they are not available, you might not actually need them, or its not a place you want to go to.
maddie mail that’s nice you had a nice time in London summer was ages ago I can’t even remember the weather 😂 your lucky you didn’t go around this time because it’s so windy one of our fences flyed away 😂
Audrey M ..I not know where you live but if in the U S.. any Wal-Mart store sells them..they are airtight waterproof and keep out any nasty bugs...not very expensive or look for ZIPLOCK SPACE BAGS.. they are see through so you can use them for traveling..and you don't need a vacuum to remove air inside.. hope it helps..
Thanks for the tips, I'm going holiday in 2 weeks (To Thailand I'm so excited) This will definitely help when I'm packing. I've never tried rolling clothes I usually fold them, I've seen people rolling clothes and I thought that I'm gonna try it out! I've probably watched EVERY SINGLE vacation/travelling/packing video there is on youtube, literally. XD
Rolling is not only more space efficient but it also minimises crushing/creases. For this reason I wouldn't recommend how they do it - might keep everything rolled and tidy but I'd rather look like I'm NOT living out of a suitcase than have my suitcase in military order. If you want order, use packing cubes
Interesting idea of using tote bags instead of packing cubes - that way you always have some extra bags if needed. Don't agree with that style of rolling - more about keeping the suitcase tidy than reducing creases in clothes (although I might compare that method to using a travel vacuum bag for a puffer jacket).
Just done a month in Europe, 5 different countries with layovers in between. You don’t need 10 tops and 5 jeans, that’s straight up ridiculous. I bought 4 tops, 3 jeans
Heres another tip get ziploc space bags fold pants put like 3 in 1 bag the vaccum it to take the air out using ziploc space bags wil not only save room but make your carry on feel lighter cause at some airports theres weight limits for carry ons🤦🏻♀️ but your welcome!!!
@@dziazmina it's a vacuum seal - you push the air out then seal it off. You can buy special travel vacuum bags - look for 1s with thicker plastic and stronger Ziploc
I roll my clothes and put them in packing cubes. Keeps everything neat and organized. When I am in the hotel I can take them out of my suitcase and put them in drawers if there is furniture as such. I can take what I need from each cube when I am getting dressed. Neat and convenient.
what was the total weight once packed? majority if not all airlines have weight restrictions on carry on suitcases of 7kgs (or 10kgs if you pay extra with some airlines).
You do the hacks, but when you get to the airport.... Random search and they unfold all your clothes to check...... BAM !!!! That's 30 minutes of your life wasted!!!
I had my bag packed similar and was spot checked in Grenada. The customs official unzipped my bag, looked at everything, smiled in amazement, asked me if I packed it (yes). "well I'm not gonna mess this up" zipped it close and off I went
Don’t ever put all your clothes in a suite case like that and expect tsa not to screw up your day. Invest in packing cubes. I used them in the military for packing my ruck for patrols and still use them for travel. Only way to keep things organized and consolidated. You can dump your bag and pack it back in moments.
That would be good, but how can I do this? In this case I need to take a bottle of neem pills for infection, oregano oil pills for cold, adsorbent for food poisoning, probiotic for digestion, enzymes for digestion, headache pills for plane trips, pills for sleep. 7 bottles. They will take much space in the suitcase.
or,, just take some paracetamol and go without the cold/digestion tablets? That many chemicals and additives aren't great for your body nor for travel. Eat proper food and you won't need them.
I’ve never had an issue with keeping medications in just an old allergy pill bottle, however all those meds are over the counter and have their names on the pill. I leave my birth control in the package and did the same with malaria pills when I was in South America.
I have to pack for two weeks in a carry on bag. Church convention, three outfits a day. Plus shoes, toiletries, and extra clothes in case of accidents (i.e, falling into the lake, spilling food in myself, my sister hugging me with her peanut butter and jelly hands. To name a few.).
You really DON'T need 3 outfits for ONE day! Even if some 'requirement' says you do you really don't. All you need to do is make it LOOK like you're changing your outfit each time. So stick to basics and neutrals with your clothes. Make sure EVERYTHING mixes and matches (I mean it - if the top you wanna take doesn't go with ALL of your bottoms then it doesn't go with you). Then take several pairs of scarves. Learn all the ways you can tie scarves not forgetting in your hair and as a belt (you can even make a halter top, a skirt, a shrug). Also, for future reference, stop buying clothes that aren't multifunctional - look for dresses that can be worn as skirts or short skirts that can be worn as strapless tops, pants that can be rolled up to knees. Your wardrobe is only as limited as your mind. I can't help you with your little sister but would recommend your basics be wash and wear and quick dry
I don't understand why people TAKE more than a coupe of pieces of jewellery (I'm talking a coupe of earrings, maybe a ring, maybe ONE necklace). Anything more and you give the impression you're rich - that's just asking for ppl to go thru your stuff any chance they get
i have a contact lens container with an contact lens from 2016 which i only wore once at the store because it was a struggle to geti in my eyes and even the person helping me was struggling to open my eyes lol so just now i wash the container and pour in my foundation as follow here
I like these videos but none of the travellers seem to take any books to read, or any art. I like to take a sketch book and some water-colours and a couple of pencils. What about a puzzle book? Lots of toiletries, but nothing to actually do when you want some down time.
Can you tell me the dimensions of that luggage and brand so I’ll be able to buy it? I carried a 40L osprey bag and it is the carry on limit for most airlines. There was no way i could have put 3 pair of shoes with my other clothes. And my other clothes was less compare to the video.

Who else wishes their suitcase was always that organized?

Travel hack:
Don't bring toiletries
Get them from your hotel.
😂😂
Aya Adel Hotel toiletries are awful, especially for sensitive skin

I packed for two weeks abroad in summer in London and Im a diabetic, so extra supplies, in a carry on
Addie Harman candy bars?
Addie Harman ps in London even if it's summer it's still cold cold
maddie mail that’s nice you had a nice time in London summer was ages ago I can’t even remember the weather 😂 your lucky you didn’t go around this time because it’s so windy one of our fences flyed away 😂

I know this was 9 months ago, but did you also bring your saintes on the flight?
I don't know how many times I'm going to thanks this person for this video. Thank you so much.
This came right in the nick of time! I need to learn how to pack compactly for my trip. Thanks Nifty!
I do this before I put all into a travel size space bag...it protects from odors and moisture..
J Shiloh Shea where do you get those?

The konmari folding, ahhhh~
They were so good at finding the clothes “sweet spot”!
Some really nice ideas. Like the rolled clothes, haven't seen that before :)
makanivalur really?

PRETTY MUCH EVERYONE DID THAT HACK! WHAT COUNTRY R U FROM!? UNDERAROCKTOPIA?
That straw bit is f*cking. Genius. Thanks so much.
No way am I sticking my clean underwear in my shoes!!!! And my feet don’t even get stinky!

I saw these helpful tips before I packed my stuff!
Is this not how everyone does it? props to Mom for teaching me serious life skills ...
Not sure who I learnt this hack from - maybe my Nan who did quite a bit of traveling. I know it wasn't my mum
Where do you put the bras?
lmadames YOU ROLL IT!!!
Put them together, one next to the other, and fill the cups of the last with socks to keep their shape.
Put them in the corners stuffed with socks to keep their shape and they fit nicely in the rounded corners :)
I stuff mine in then put my socks inside to shape
If the suitcase has like a zippered top I like to put them there and stuff them with socks or underwear :)
That's Marie Kondo's folding technique!
andreagonzalezrod lol I thought that too
I'm telling Marie, and boy, she's gonna be pissed!
Tsunade senju but how do you vaccum them when you’re going home?
Tsunade senju , it doesn't make it lighter
Thx

TSA has eased up on medications in pill form, you just have to be careful with liquid meds.

Ted Hodoba by rolling Ur clothes n packing did d iron done to clothes spoilt..pls reply..coz wen I tried it was spoilt
Ty sir...ya I ment d same..
If I'm staying somewhere with a closet I hang up everything so creases can fall out
TBH they are really helpful for me right now cuz I’m moving from Pakistan all the to Canada.
I normally would have been like *ugh who has the time for this?*
But the straw necklace thing is VERY helpful
what was the total weight once packed? majority if not all airlines have weight restrictions on carry on suitcases of 7kgs (or 10kgs if you pay extra with some airlines).
I have these laundry pouches that are like tote pencil cases for clothes and they save lives
Thank you. Unfortunately, such methods leave folding marks. When you arrive, the first thing you need is an iron.
@Kurumi Shinoda wrinkles.
This really helps me out because I'm going on a 4 day trip and the people in charge of the trip wants to bring backpacks. Instead of suitcases
This is my easily my favorite packing video! Thanks for the tips :D
Carry on, life flies, I just carry on with this pain inside of my chest, got no choice but carry on💔💔
It took me 20 tries to do the rolling
But it worked
Frienimals Club by rolling n pack did the iron done to clothes spoilt
couldve used this when i left home a month and a half ago
I love the way they use buzzfeed merch 😂😂😂
you forgot how 1. you aren't allowed razors in carry ons for many fights. 2. You'll need to take out those toiletries at security
I have never not been able to carry a razor on a flight in my life
And they need to be in a clear bag
you can carry regular razors in carry on, just not straight razors
Safety razors are allowed in carry on. I have to agree with you on the toiletries, this would not be allowed in europe
You do the hacks, but when you get to the airport....
Random search and they unfold all your clothes to check......
BAM !!!!

7-10kg max for a carry on.... with my indecisiveness and what ifs, that isnt enough lmao
This helps a lot since in going on an 8 hour fight in 3 weeks
My friend always amazed on how i can fit so many stuff in one bag 💼, i was like well you have to just roll your clothes and you’re good to go
You just made me saved 100€, thanks xD
Just saw the video and it was absolutly fun to watch!
I really like this video, its a great way to pack things easier now.
'Course they upload a video like this like 2 days after I go on a trip by plane to Oregon for NXN...
Melinda Dang How we’re Buzzfeed supposed to know where you’re going?
Omg, your such a baby. How is that their fault? your so annoying....

Agreed TSA wii. Dispose of any meds not identified! Also carry prescriptions with from your doctor!

Sone of these are really useful like the lens case one. I have like a million lens cases i can use tgem instead of throwing away
Even before this I was always rolling my clothes and it is sooooooo helpful
I believe toiletries need to be in a clear bag for security checks.
Why?
Yup
Is it impossible to fold socks like normal people do?
The necklace one Is very clever
I don't understand why people TAKE more than a coupe of pieces of jewellery (I'm talking a coupe of earrings, maybe a ring, maybe ONE necklace). Anything more and you give the impression you're rich - that's just asking for ppl to go thru your stuff any chance they get
I fold my sweater a completely different way, 😂
you need to roll
Finally I can pack my jacket neatly! It was always a struggle to fold it small and hope fore the best that it won't unfold itself XD
You can get travel vacuum bags you know. Forces air out without having to carry a vacuum cleaner with you 🤗 Basically just a Ziploc bag on steroids
You can always fold the shirts again and make the roll smaller. My rolls are always half that size
I roll each item differently - it depends on cut and material - I want it to show as few creases as possible
I always roll because you can fit more with less weight.
This Little Critic ? How items are packed does not determine their weight. If you fit in more clothes, it will weigh more.
it weights the same.
JakesterJung Not if you pack more clothes. More clothes = more weight.
nonsense
False the weight does change
I love these types of videos makes me feels like a bit ocd

Where does the pill container go?
Always roll nd using small containers to avoid bulks things jst save some space nd to avoid heavy load

nice!! will try this one!
Which method makes the clothes less wrinkly? The folding or the rolling method?
I wouldn't recommend putting shoes in bags it traps odors get showercaps for the bottoms only☺️👌
jessie mayfield but covering the whole shoe keeps leather and suede from scratching and keeps any Oder off of your clothes
Love this hacks!!👝

Idc if I’m late, but I really need to know, does the rolling stretch out clothing?
It does if you roll like this imo - I don't DO this rolling method, don't recommend. This is for OCD ppl who need their suitcase to look perfect then have to make sure they only stay in hotels that have irons. AND it stretches out the sections that that secure the roll
This is actually useful. Groom groom and five minute hacks, TAKE NOTES
Three pairs of shoes?
I own a pair of sneakers, a pair of winter boots, a pair of flip-flops and a pair of dress shoes. I cannot fathom a situation requiring I bring four pairs of shoes on a trip.
You must not be very fashionable if you can't fathom bringing more than 3 pairs of shoes.
Although I think it depends on your trip - if you're going to be doing multiple climate zones then unfortunately you're gonna need more shoes (and clothes). No matter how far out of the box you think and try to do layering as much as possible etc you're still going to be stuck taking more than you would if you were just doing 1 climate zone (eg. imagine you're doing an island in the tropics on the way to a snow holiday - try to figure out outfits that would cover both those destinations and still do carry on only. It's a challenge). Happily there are minimalist shoes and lots of versatile clothing now and the concept of layering - otherwise this would be impossible.
It's nice
But any tip for packing no of books.
Yeah don't! I speak from experience. Happily we have ebooks now! Just take your phone - you can then take as many books as you want!
Who needs more shirts than underwear

did the clothes rolling hacks came from the konmari method?
