I grew up visiting fabric stores, looking at patterns, and watching her sewing. Those vintage patterns...oh yes. I recognize them. I'm a year older than you. You are a joy. I watch every video.
I LOVE the fabric that looks like kettle cloth. It’s beautiful. I’m 64 and overweight but I don’t care. I like sleeveless in the summer. Don’t limit yourself, just enjoy your clothes. You have inspired me to get to sewing again. I work at a thrift shop and decided to look through our vintage patterns. Found out we were charging way too little for them (50 cents). Thanks to you I found some really cute ones and raised the prices on the ones I didn’t buy😉. Thank you for the inspiration! And by the way, Happy Birthday! 🎂

Happy Birthday, Vivmom, hope you have a wonderful 56th! I laugh when you say you forgot about buying the fabric from fabric.com - wait till you hit 62! I'm 62 and I forget stuff all the time! Love the patterns you got, especially the dress with the different sleeves. .I live in Canada and "NEVER" see the great prices you get patterns in the States for, we also don't have Simplicity patterns available here anymore. I guess next time I come to the USA or close to the border I will have to run over into Joannes fabrics to check out the patterns. Anyway, "Happy Birthday" again! Love watching what you're making, it's cool you sew for your husband too!
Hopefully you can hit Joann during a pattern sale - that’s the only time I buy patterns. Hobby Lobby discounts their patterns and will put McCall’s and Simplicity on sale for $1.99, but I think they have fewer locations than Joann. (I’d rather give my money to HL, but guess it all goes to the McCall Pattern Co.) Thanks so much for your lovely message.😄💕

Oh goodness, I haven't heard Kettle Cloth in years! That tencel - I wish it weren't so expensive; I saw some at Joann's yesterday. That ITY in blues is gorgeous.
Holy cow I have Simplicity 8483 and I made it back circa 1980 - I can report that it is cute as a button. If I remember correctly I also made one for daughter #3 about 7-8 years ago. LOVE that Burda tunic! Love the Burda summer dress. And the smock top - since we're getting all nostalgic, remember smock tops back in the 70's? I think I made a couple in the 7th grade and wore one for a school photo. I think I even had one with wings. Years are flying by - and speaking of age, I have those arms that shouldn't be going sleeveless and I've decided that I just don't care. I live where it's warm and I just don't want to give up sleeveless things, so I'm not gonna! My vanity has finally taken a back seat where it belongs.

When I was young and my body was nearly perfect, compared to now, I would NEVER wear shorts or sleeveless tops. I was so hard on myself! Now that I am older I am BOLD! 😀 Who cares if that stuff on the back of my arm flaps around while waving good-bye to the grands! I love me just the way I am.

Viv, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! May the Lord bless you during your birthday season. You deserve a wonderful day because the world is a better place because you are here. The kingdom of God is bigger because your in it too. I can’t tell you how blessed I was that you were praying for me. Thank you again. Today has been a rough day. I was told by my doc’s nurse practitioner that I needed to take it easier. This surgery was hard on my body and It looks like it didn’t do what we were hoping. So I’m looking at 2 more surgeries. I know God has me in the palm of His hand and if he doesn’t intervene then there’s someone that I need to meet in the process or a lesson I need to learn. God has put so many people in my path that I have learned from and some that I;vê witnessed to that no one else probably would have because of their sphere of people aren’t Christians. Whatever it is He is with me and now I feel that I have a friend in you. I hope you don’t think I’m being presumptuous by saying that. Have a glorious weekend.
