As other people have said in the comments, it's absolutely worth watching the "Tim Minchin Stand up - Dark Humour and Wife's Humour" version of this song. Even if you skip reacting to the song version of it and just react to the part after where he talks about how his wife feels about this song and such I think it's worth its own video. (But also it's just a much better and slightly longer version of the song.)
If you think about it, this is kinda of the best love song ever written, really. Because it was not some abstract concept of destiny that put them together. They could have anybody else, and despite every conceivably reason the could have to have somebody else, they chose to be together. That's what it means to be in love in my book.
One thing you'll notice about Tim is that there's not really comedy songs and serious songs. Most lean one way or the other, but this was 100% a genuine love song to his wife. It just happened to also be funny. He has another called You Grew On Me, which starts off as cringingly comedic and by the end, you'll add to your list of one of the most heartfelt songs you've heard. Not Perfect is another one that packs a huge emotional punch, and one or two giggles. His more recent works is more serious, but I'll Take Lonely Tonight is another great love song with a twist.
He is a brilliant musician and foul and funny. His musical commentaries about religion, hoo boy.But he isn't trapped by that... He was in Broadway Jesus Christ Superstar (as Judas, heh). He also had an amazingly sweet Christmas song 'White Wine in the Sun' that I really love.
Delightful reaction, Britt! 😀 Storm and Thank You God are his best bits, in my opinion…HIGHLY recommended! PLEASE react to those; whether you agree with his sentiments or not, you’ll be blown away by his wordplay and talent! ❤️✌🏻✌🏻❤️
Like others have commented, this is not the best version of the song (both the actual performance, and the stand up bits before and after the song in the other one), but I appreciate that you actually react to it and give some comments unlike some people doing "reactions" that just play the video.
I think about stuff like this. It's why I don't believe in fate, more that we choose who we are with based off of life experiences and connections. I hate talking about it but I think about it with my kids. I love my kids but if I had kids with another person instead and my kids were totally different I'd love them. But I'm blessed with 2 girls and twin boys which I never thought I would have but have always wanted. And I'm so glad that I do have them.
The longer version of this is way better when he has his white shirt on......and yes, he is always barefoot when he's performing on stage....and if Tim is involved, i always prefer the longer version.....lol
So true and so funny, though you missed out ...the longer version from a different show has some standup before and after that is hilarious and very dark humour. Worth a look as well!
If you are interested in a sweet love song by Tim, I recommend You Grew on Me. It's still funny, but has an odd sentimentality to it. It's just whimsical and charming.
I was going through a breakup of a very long relationship (my first and only real one at the time)... and I thought, "Well, I blew it with the ONE." Then I heard this song and I felt like everything was going to be okay! Like you said... it's such a truthful song! It's one of my favorites of Tim's.
At the start you said it's not a real love song, but I actually find it the most beautiful love song, as he does confess his love eve though his aware of the effect random events had on this. No bullcrap like in most love songs.
So true so funny I loved it and yes I have thought about if I had not chose to be where I was what would my life have been like and I believe I would have just settled for what came my way instead of keeping and holding onto my dream and shooting for the moon and hoping I would end up with a moonchild ❤️🔥
You are about the first reactor I have seen, ( I am an Australian, and used to Tim, although his new show, called Unfunny, is a selection of beautiffully crafted songs, that he plays while explaining some life experience. It is not stand up comedy, but he can not help but be mesmerising, and funny, none the less...
Not sure if it's mentioned already, but he did meet his wife at a party in Perth when he was 17. They dated, why their distaste ways, but came back to each other and decided to choose each other. 😆
Though Tim's comedy is absolutely brilliant.(he's even inspired Bo Burnham), his talent goes far beyond. I know he has acted in Australia but I don't know the extent. He is a world class pianist as well. He composed the music for Matilda the musical in the UK and Groundhog Day in the states. He's written for the show Californication and writes and stars in the show Upright. He's kind of a big deal.
He's written some lovely songs for his wife over the years. One that has caused her to go "hmmm", though, is Lonely Tonight - she's like "really? You're going to brag about that"? It's not a direct quote, and I don't think she's in absolute earnest, but I saw her say something along these lines in an interview. ua-cam.com/video/Is73BbYhFz4/v-deo.html
This version of the song is missing the best part. The bit of standup right after the song where he talks about his wife and their sense of humor. You should really do that one next. It's called "Tim Minchin Stand up - Dark Humour and Wife's Humour"
Britt, if you were my girlfriend I would send you a link to this song every. Single. Day. Usually by text message, but sometimes, when my heart is brimming with you, by email. And yes, Tim's eyes are just beautiful. I thought of that about 32 seconds before you said it. It was uncanny.
In one of his other performances of this, he mentions that people misinterpret it as a song about love, when it's clearly a song about math.

Second this, that part is hilarious.
I'll add a third then ... It is so good !!
This version misses the verse taken from Fidler on the Roof.
"She made me that way!"
White Wine in the Sun is my favorite Christmas song of all time!
Definitely more tim please. The version of this with his full orchestra is even better.
I will keep it in mind, thanks!
ANOTHER TIM. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! YEAAAAAAAAAA!
Yeesss. More Tim Minchin. One of my country's finest humans XD
Love seeing how much you appreciate Tim Minchin.
This man is so talented.. Musically and comedically 💙

Many more than just the one, but I do love White Wine in the Sun! ❤
I love Tim! More please. There's tons on UA-cam
Probably the most romantic song ever written.
Must do a reaction to his lullaby aboslutely haliarious
There is a more complete version of this performance that you would enjoy finding. It goes on just a few more worthwhile minutes.
If you want to see an actually serious song about his commitment to his wife, check out "I'll Take Lonely Tonight."
Thats what I like about Tim. He says it like it is.
true lol
If you think about it, this is kinda of the best love song ever written, really.
Because it was not some abstract concept of destiny that put them together. They could have anybody else, and despite every conceivably reason the could have to have somebody else, they chose to be together.
That's what it means to be in love in my book.
More Tim Minchin, please. 😍😍
I will keep it in mind, thanks!
Great reaction and comments. Thanks.
He does some excellent stuff with "Dark Side" aka "I can have a dark side too" echo, lighting and stunning piano.

I love how you actually get this, it's so real

Just re-watched you here and I have got to say review the entire bit.... You will thank me for it.

- Tim always spits truth!!!
has a Sade vibe to it. Hilarious.
glad you enjoyed it
The longer version of this is way better when he has his white shirt on......and yes, he is always barefoot when he's performing on stage....and if Tim is involved, i always prefer the longer version.....lol
you grew on me is a must listen by tim
So true and so funny, though you missed out ...the longer version from a different show has some standup before and after that is hilarious and very dark humour. Worth a look as well!
The last verse always makes me tear up because its so loving
Awesome! Hilarious! 😂😂😂
glad you enjoyed it!

"It's just the truth." It is.
Truth
I was going through a breakup of a very long relationship (my first and only real one at the time)... and I thought, "Well, I blew it with the ONE." Then I heard this song and I felt like everything was going to be okay! Like you said... it's such a truthful song! It's one of my favorites of Tim's.
Brilliant reaction - thanks.
Have you watched Storm? I’ll check through your channel
The thing is... on the surface it's a song about math, but underneath it actually _is_ a serious love song.
At the start you said it's not a real love song, but I actually find it the most beautiful love song, as he does confess his love eve though his aware of the effect random events had on this. No bullcrap like in most love songs.
Small variations leading to big life changes...sounds like the German movie "Run Lola Run" to me!
its true !
So true so funny I loved it and yes I have thought about if I had not chose to be where I was what would my life have been like and I believe I would have just settled for what came my way instead of keeping and holding onto my dream and shooting for the moon and hoping I would end up with a moonchild ❤️🔥
the right path always find us

STORM (animated) by Tim Minchin
Ah Britt you picked the just song version! The bit he does after the song is the best part!
Aw, are you studying feminism at uni? BOOP!
more tim!
Funny but true kind of sums ups Tim Minchin, got it inn one!
I'm only endorsing the comments below. The uncut long version is hilarious. 😅
More Tim please!
I will keep it in mind, thanks!
Not sure if it's mentioned already, but he did meet his wife at a party in Perth when he was 17. They dated, why their distaste ways, but came back to each other and decided to choose each other. 😆
He does a more serious take on this idea in "You Grew on Me"

that is so cool!
Tim played Friar Tuck in a recent version of Robin Hood (movie), starring Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx.
Someone else mentioned it, but let me add a vote for "Storm"
The animated version is great!
@Britt since you're clearly a fan of Tim, and I think you'd enjoy a love song, you should check out You grew on me
💜
too funny
Glad you enjoyed it!
Finally!
There is a version with a post talk where he has a little story to add onto this song, It is brilliant.
@@1stCainite yup. You can guarantee she will always be recommended the wrong version.

There is a version where his wife joins him at the end… She agrees.
Do STORM :)
Hiya. Re what you were saying about "what if...", watch the 1998 film 'Sliding Doors'. Stay safe. All the best to you.
👍
This version of the song is missing the best part. The bit of standup right after the song where he talks about his wife and their sense of humor.
You should really do that one next. It's called "Tim Minchin Stand up - Dark Humour and Wife's Humour"
So glad you told us what the song was about, otherwise
Overthinking telling someone they are one in a million, with todays world population, turns out to be really funny.
"You're one in a million. So there are about 8,000 people just like you."
For the algorithm
I appreciate it!
He says it's not a love song, it's a song about maths... his wife did not buy that excuse...
Noooo you missed the story after the video lol.. i think it was on a different version of the song...
you are so beautiful. :)
lol id have somebody else
lol
Racism is a fantastic funny song to listen to.
you really need pop up filter
This is good but not the best version of this song.
Britt, if you were my girlfriend I would send you a link to this song every. Single. Day. Usually by text message, but sometimes, when my heart is brimming with you, by email.
