- Well you know the saying "third times a charm?" Well that applies perfectly in my circumstance with Cornelius disposal. Simon and I attempted to film them one month ago and failed. Then I tried again myself and found nothing. Finally I went for the third time and found a roto pack. While I was filming the new way, I saw this drive by and dropped everything to film it.
There is not enough to say about this beast! This very old EZ Pack RL was collecting commercial cardboard early Monday morning. Something very special about this truck, other than the fact that it's one of the last EZ Pack RL's (of this model) in the country, is that it has a Detroit engine in it. Now I don't know if there is any more Detroit engines out there, but it was a pleasure to film one. After Gruetter retired their Detroits, I didn't think I would ever see one again. If you watch and listen, you'll here this monster growl and puff smoke. I really hope you enjoy this video of a very old and very rare truck!
Thanks to the amazing crew at Cornelius Disposal!
And please like, subscribe, comment, and thanks for watching!!!
6L71TA and 6V71N are 7.0 liter engines only different inline six and V6 engines including the 9.0 liter 6V92TA Detroit Diesel is a V6 engine
Back when garbage trucks were loud noisy smelly bad ass machines
That belted black smoke and literally took out the trash
Holy freaking Detroit! Man oh man! Words can't describe how unbelievable this monster is! When I saw that this beast had a Detroit diesel in it I was like "You've got to be kidding me! No freaking way!" Sounds like this one has the 6-71 inline 6 cylinder engine. What year is this beast? Is this beast still around? If so, please film it again, but be sure to get plenty more takeoff shots with several gear shifts. I really want to see more of this beautiful Detroit powered Volvo/WhiteGMC!
Correct me if I'm wrong but it could be equipped with the 6L71TA or 6V71N Detroit Diesel engine with the HT740 Allison Transmission
Nice work isaac! This truck is so cool, to bad they are replacing it ://
Simco Barker TrashTrucks they are replacing this???? think theyd sell it
Wow, this is awesome! Great catch, glad you documented this truck before these went extinct!
Refuse Trucks of the East Coast I'm glad to. It was fun to film
Great hearing that old 2 stroke detroit. Shame they are a dying breed that gave way to the 4 stroke electronic engines we have now. Detroit does still make engines but unless it's in a freightshaker you're not going to get one
Wow. You really should reupload this. It should go viral ha
Awesome video! So glad you were able to find such a classic like this one. Are you sure this wasnt a White/WhiteGmc? Anyhow it sounded amazing and really cool how they used the winch on the larger dumpsters. What other classic rigs does this company run?
SoCalGarbageTrucks thanks! I actually don't know as the name plate was up lol. I saw that diagonal bar across the grille and thought Volvo. Who knows. Thanks for the comment! Oh and also the run original Labrie exerts, roto packs, and Leach rls.
+Northwest Garbage Trucks not all WhiteGmcs have the badge above the grille, especially on these WX-42s since the slot above the grille is narrower than WX64s. Also, Whitegmc grills have the thin diagonal bar across, while nearly all Volvos have a thicker bar with the Volvo badge in the center. My guess this was a WhiteGmc especially with the blue emblems below the door instead of the Volvo or Xpeditor emblem
SoCalGarbageTrucks interesting. Well you might be right!
SoCalGarbageTrucks its a White. I have picture of this truck from years ago on my Flickr
SoCalGarbageTrucks haha I guess it is a White. Thanks!!! I'll change that rn!
Very ecstatic to see this pop up in my feed! I'm a huge fan of Detroits, they are actually made a few miles down the street from me, and are still an option in Freightliners and other units today. Also very cool to see the old EZ Pack, I've never actually come across one in my years of filming.
dying breed man
That's super cool
gotta love a screamin demon!
Wow! Very interested in that Roto Pack too... But as I'm sure most people who watch my videos knows, I am a BIG two stroke Detroit fanatic. I can't get enough of that melodious tune it makes especially when it's taking off from a stop and ramping up through the RPMs to get up to the speed of traffic.
MrBillT haha yeah I love the sound as well. I've never heard one in person until now, but it sounds fantastic. Thanks for the comment!!!
You've never heard one in person before? That's terrible. I'm sorry to hear that. Well at least you finally got to hear one before they were all gone.
MrBillT im in love with the old detroits aswell. all i can say from driving one regularly is its prety dand deafening in the cab 😂
this truck use a city bus engine, i think a 6v92
6V-92 seems legit. It has a similar takeoff sound as the MCI buses of my childhood.
MCI Classics?
