Each Beaver has a unique castor signature. While family units smell more similar, the castor scent is their way of marking their territory. The whole point is to smell different. Age and diet may contribute to the aroma, but the very point of castor is to have different aromas. That's how they know who is where.

A lot of those scents that were different than the letter would be used in the food processing

Well done James. This video was much needed. It's very good that you're making raw materials available to people so they gain knowledge on the real materials as opposed to their synthetic counterparts; and also to smell them on their own instead of in a blend. Lovely shirt.

Those variations is what it's all about. Really brings in some organic diversity to perfumery. Appreciate the vid James!

I think it might be very interesting for you to combine the many different facets of castoreum in one perfume.

Each animal has unique smell. They mark territories with that unique smell and that's how they choose mates. Also, animals from different habitat have totally different smell and taste.

I guess the variations occur due to different diets, no? Some Beavers have eaten more / different berries maybe (for example)... To me that sounds like a very plausible explanation.

I agree, although from the Hyraceum that I am tincturing I would use that on its own it’s wonderful

I know Tonkin Musk is considered the best musk, I'm very curious which type of beaver was considered the best
