We've been making propolis tincture as well. I make a 30% propolis tincture and have used it for ingrown toenail, cuts, etc. My wife was on blood thinners and cut herself. She put the tincture on and it immediately sealed the cut and she said it also stopped hurting. Had an ingrown toenail that nothing was working on..... put propolis tincture on and it was better after the 2nd day. It's great stuff! Thanks for sharing
I have been purchasing Bee Propolis to add to my smoothies for many years now, I thank you for showing that I can also make a Tincture with it, much appreciated.
Save that clump of leftover propolis in the jar when you're done making your tincture. I add just a bit of alcohol to it and make a nice paste. Perfect for dabbing on bee stings and no itch, swelling or pain. But it will stain everything - even your skin.
Having hives is like sitting on a gold mine! I drop the tincture at the back of my throat and chase it with honey 🍯 Using propolis daily has improved my stomach issues and I just feel better overall 😊 Thanks ladies!
@@tamararobinson2069 I can’t scientifically explain why, I just know that I don’t have as many flare ups and they’re not as bad as they were before I started using propolis!

Hi ladies, I'm more of a silent observer but just wanted to pop in and say Thank You for all your lovely videos and info!! hugs from Luxembourg xxx Kerry
I have been saving my propolis, knowing the value, but not sure exactly what I was going to do with it. Thanks for the tutorial - this is very helpful information.
What an awesome duo. It looks like so much fun when you two are working together and sharing your knowledge. Thank you for sharing. We are learning as much as we can about beekeeping and are going to set up a hive in the spring. Love all your videos. I'm learning so much!
I have collected every bit of propolis I can in the last 3 years and roll it into balls and keep it in a air proof container. I absolutely love the smell and now I know what I can make with some of it. Thanks for all your videos.
I made the huge mistake of taking a piece of propolis and chewing it up. My neighbor came by after I did that and I had brown spots all over my teeth but I didn't know till I looked in the mirror afterwards. LOL how embarrassing!! I will use your recipe and avoid brown teeth! (I'm still picking propolis out of my teeth 3 hours later)
Wow you must be in my head . I saw this video a year or two back an I have been going back through your play list an couldn’t find it.AND here tonight I finally got around to watching your inspection video an an you had put this one down below . Another question I have people that purchases Honey from me that have been asking me to make propolis salve also. I could not remember but I was thinking you did one on that also . Could you send me the like to that video please. I also did hive inspection today an found two colonies with OUT A queen. So I have to get those two fixed before it is to late . I started Bee keeping in 1968 . Back then I had 135 colonies but with my age an health I have cut it down thru the year to around 20 ish colonies. Sometimes less an sometimes more . Thanks for all the great work you and your mom does . THANKS .!!!
I use canvas inner covers and soak them in alcohol to make the tincture . I also use the Tincture to coat plastic foundation instead of wax , it's easy and the bees love it.🙂
💚 I've known that propolis is very valuable and full of health benefits, but I didn't really know how the bees gathered and used it, so cool to learn this! Thanks Ladies! 💚
This seems a much better way to use propolis than what I usually do. Which is to track it across the kitchen floor on my shoes and my wife yells at me! 😂🤣
I scrapped a 5 ounce ball of propolis off one inner cover and the top bar and frame rest on an 8 frame box. Didn’t scrape the boxes corners down in, just from this one top! 5 ounces!!! I refer to it as ole number 13 mr sticky is what it’s listed as in my notes. I used PGA 25 fluid ounces with that 5 ounces tennis balls, 2 of them. Been in for 3 weeks now.

I'm a beekeeper and began collecting propolis. I made my first tincture with Everclear at 190 proof. i gargled and swished it in my mouth. OMG! It was nearly impossible to get the propolis coating off my teeth. If it's that difficult to get off fingers, utensils, TEETH, etc... i wonder what goes on in the digestive system. I'm guessing our enzymes break it down?

It's good to know cause I thought the alcohol would kill all the good bacteria and Antifungal as well Antiseptic properties. As I always thought, alcohol was just a great process for extracting oils from other types of organics such as herbs and plants. As I was interested in learning more about bee bread Which was consumed by spartans I came across another one of your videos.
Hi Kaylee. I’m just starting a beekeeping class and recently learned that some species of honeybees make more propolis than other species. Do you keep certain species for this purpose? I’m starting with just 2 hives but I’m very interested in harvesting propolis to create products 🐝
AND I want to use it on my dogs especially one with IBD. What is the best non-alcoholic carrier that I can mix in the food? I was giving him a tiny piece mixed in with food but I'm sure it wasn't being digested and just coming out the other end.
I am getting in beekeeping in a big way currently. I am also excited to harvesting propolis, pollen, honey, wax, and venom to use personally. However I am also aware of the varrora mite and the treatments required. What do you use to combat this mite. Almost all treatments do settle into honey, wax, pollen, propolis. So with that said how are you ensuring that you are not taking the chemicals used to treat the mite.
My tincture tendzs to remain very cloudy. How do I get it to clear up? Have you ever tried putting the propilus in a coffee filter, then in the jar? Just curious.
Hi, can I make the tincture from propolis that are sold in pellets? My local beekeeper sells the propolis, so I was wondering if it can be used like that or does it needs to be like in that raw state (scrapped off from the hive)?

@carfro8ify hello. Not a dumb question at all.
That just means that the tincture is 30% propolis and 70% grain alcohol.
