It's definitely an interesting topic! But one thing people tend to forget, when it comes to the straight vs wavy vs curly thing, is that how you style your natural hair can make a huge difference! I have wavy hair and when I brushcoil my hair it looks very different from when I just scrunch in some mousse or gel. the products & methods I use can give me more "elegant / professional" vs beachy/ laid-back vibes. Also that the reason why we associate straight textures with being professional has a lot to do with cultural aspects & history... So I also think that this trend should encourage us to challenge certain stereotypes.
@caughtupinthewaves Really excellent breakdown on the curly vs straight reflection on professionalism! I’ve been straightening my hair for professional situations and I think for the conference next week I’m not going to do so. I’m feeling like even though I understand why people at a subconscious level have this bias, I’m going to finally buck it! And, you’re so right about the styling making so much of a difference. For decades I just felt messy when I wore my hair natural because I just didn’t know how to style it properly. Now thanks to people like @manesbymell I’m learning!
Years ago when I was in highschool I actually had this theory that people thought of you differently based on your hair. I have naturally black straight/wavy (depends on the day) hair, and people used to assume a lot of the time I was reserved and scary. People tend to assume I was a b*tch when I wore it out or thought I was serious when I wore it in a bun. I'm actually a very bubbly person who never tries to be mean, so these perceptions were hurtful back then. I dyed my hair light brown (or honey dirty blonde, whatever you want to call it), and wrapped my hair in pencils every single night. When I had blonde curly hair, people assumed I was dumber but also a lot nicer. I was approached more often by guys as well. However, there were a few men who absolutely loved and were obsessed with my natural black straight hair and I never had that obsession over the curly blonde. It felt like black+straight/wavy = loved by few, blonde+curly/wavy = liked by many. Now, I have it natural, because who can really be bothered and who cares? I also want to embrace my natural self and not let people's opinions dictate what I look like. However, I definitely use hair theory in my hairstyles from time to time. ;)
Hair is actually everything. I did not know about this trend, but I noticed people percieving me differently when I started wearing out my curls instead of a clean high bun. This video gave so many ideas. I would like it if you could expand a bit more on the texture and accessoires. Like you said texture holds a lot of bs stigma but I was wondering if you have any tips to elevate your look and wether accessoires would help.
Yep. I went from my natural super straight hair to getting it permed to a loose spiral level of curl. People definitely perceive me differently. I seem to come across much more friendly now where as before I feel I was perceived as too business-y/serious.
I've been more confident with my natural hair and I've gotten more compliments compared to when I always use have a slick ponytail/bun or straighten my hair. I think it's just that it didn't suit my face well.
I would actually love some more of this! Especially help on how to wear my very fine curly hair for work; I'm a veterinarian so I HAVE to have it out of my face... I often just do the boring ponytail. (That is, I find it boring on me.) Everything just looks... smaller on my head than it does on yours because my hair is so fine. I'm lucky I have a lot of it! :)
I am a nursing assistant. I put my hair in a ponytail and then make petals. Grab a small section and roll.I roll under. Bobby pin each petal. I get about 8. French braids are another favorite.
A really easy way to dress it up a little is to just do a couple braids leading into the ponytail/bun. Like literally just plain braids, they don't need to be french or anything.
I have similar, but less dense, thin, wavy hair. I put it up with a flat to the head claw clip in a messy French twist with the curly tips splaying everywhere. It’s contained and casually professional. I think Amazon calls the clips French twist clips (duck bill clips) they lay into the shape of your head so you can even lay your head down with it in, unlike claw clips.
@@robinluettke8732 well I can't for the life of me French braid my hair (the strands like to hold each other's hand or something) but the petals I can do! thank you!
Honestly this is so true. I used to come to my job with my hair half up half down, no bangs. Now I have shorter more layered curly hair with bangs. I throw it up into a bun with heavy curly fringe and I get LOADS of compliments and people are super nice to me/approach me more. The bangs soften my RBF 🤣
When I had long curly hair (it came to my lower back) I was so annoyed by how much maintenance it was so I decided to cut it shorter (neck/shoulder length) thinking that it was going to be easier. I was very wrong :)
Oh well, I just decided to be bald. My life is great now, no hair, no shampoo, no hair conditioner, no brush, nothing. I am finally free from that thing. And people are nicer, for the wrong reasons XD.
Loved this! I was military for 20 years with the slicked back tight bun but now my hair is wild and free, just like my spirit! I hope my new vibe is nature-loving, cat-lady, off-duty mermaid! (The look to Amanda suggesting she try a pixie cut was my favorite moment in the video!)
I went short at 37 years old after a lifetime of long curls. I was ready, which surprised me at the time. But it was glorious for a few years. Then, I missed my curls and grew out back. But I highly recommend doing it at least once. You're fantastic, Mell! Ty for your content!
I think I have a newfound appreciation for my long hair after going pixie short a while back! 🤗 After going short once we never have to wonder again which is nice 🙂
Can you possibly create content around greying curly locks? I love my curls, but I am also letting my hair go naturally grey. I love the grey, too. I know my curls will change. I am almost 60...so yeah, things are changing.
Can we all acknowledge how hilarious she is 😂seriously didn’t expect to laugh multiple times in a hair video, and learn stuff too! and you’re so positive and encouraging, just love this all round 😊
I have extremely fine and thin hair mostly straight slight waves, basically baby hair on my entire head, I believe I have overall diffused loss and thinning now as well. I can’t do much with my hair style wise. And definitely have never been able to have what’s referred to as “no part”. Hair theory trend makes me feel even worse about my hair which really sucks I just wanna find something that works for me. I’ve been short I’ve been long, I prefer it long. Cheers to all us fine and thinning ladies out there.
Hmmm, I have fine and thin hair and am giving castor oil a shot (when I can afford it rosemary oil as well). Castor oil helps with growth, thickness, scalp Ph, follicle strength, the whole shebang basically. I’m hopeful about it! I love natural products. Ooh also. Using a slippery conditioner really helps when growing your hair out, I use OGx coconut and add in a bit of jojoba oil (helps with shine and moisturizing) detangling from the tips up, I never switch conditioners now (I actually bulk order the 50% more kind on bed bath and beyond every year and then don’t need to worry about it for a long time after that). I try to limit combing to when I shower then just braid it the rest of the time to avoid tangling… I swear straight hair tangles easier because it isn’t in groups like curly hair is!!! Anyways sorry to rant but I hope this could help!!!
I understand how you feel, I have exactly the same kind of hair as you and have had diffuse hair loss and thinning since I was 20, am now 35. It really sucks and it is really devastating for one's self confidence, I also feel down from trends like these where they assume that everyone has really thick and even hair all over the head, as if 😅The reason why I have hair loss and bad quality of hair is that I have a slightly higher amount of androgens (hormones such as testosterone, DHEA) in my blood. Have you checked with a doctor why you loose hair? It sounds as if you could have the same issue as me, but it could be other reasons as well, such as iron deficiency or a thyroid problem, or it could of course simply be genetical. The easiest/medical way to treat high androgens is to take anti-androgenic birth control pills, however I don't want to do that because I have high blood pressure, which increases the risk of strokes etc. But perhaps it could help you? I swear, I have tried all the oils, laser, prp and other b*llshit expensive treatments that there are out there, nothing has helped. The problem is most likely internal and not topical, which means there are no oils in the world that will make your hair grow if your hormones are making you loose hair. To help you here and now, I will give you a tip that has changed my life for the better. The thing that has helped me immensely are hair toppers, i.e. replacement hair. It is like a wig but you put it on with clips on top of your head and blend it with your natural hair which gives it a more natural feel than a wig (however, I am now looking into wigs as well because they are really making them look natural these days). I swear, to be able to put on hair that is thick and of good quality will make you feel much better, if you are like me and just feel down every time you try to style your natural hair. There are hair toppers made of real human hair and synthetic ones, the best ones are made of real human hair, which I use, but they are of course more expensive. I don't know where you live but I live in Sweden and here you can get some financial support from our NHS if you are in need of hair replacement due to medical reasons. Sorry for such a long post, but I hope I could help you in some way! I know how awful it can be when you feel like you're the only one in the world who has female hair loss, which is not true! Google hair toppers 👍 Cheers! 😊
Nai - ee - veh - Tay, honestly you gave a very kind and generous interpretation of why men tip more for the ponytails. The reason ofc is much more sinister.
Ok, I just found you because I was going to try this trend that I've missed that I knew nothing about. You're awesome! I just remixed this. I totally want you to style my hair!
I’m 57 years old and retired. I decided to embrace my curls since I don’t need to look professional any more. I can’t wait to learn more. My question is do you know an older woman with curly hair? As you age you loose elasticity and shine and I feel I need someone older. Perhaps you can do a video regarding this issue! You and your sister are so beautiful and you did teach me stuff! Thank you!
I have been so hesitant with doing doing ponytails or leaving “bangs” out towards the front of my face. I am going to continue experimenting with hair theory and find what works best for my face shape. I’m trying to elevate my hair style and give that energy and attitude that Mell talked about in this video! I do love and appreciate my curls, they truly are so fun and unique. They really are one a kind, gotta love em 🩷
Lol! The sunglasses with the nose tabs as a headband gives "absolute commitment" because those things aren't moving until you pull ALL your curls out and some hair)
As a 55+ yo transitioning to a technical field, I go through the hair theory conundrum every time I prep for a professional situation. I’ve gone prematurely silver, have 2b/2c below the shoulder hair, usually worn styled as “curly” as possible… but I’ve straightened it the last couple of conferences I’ve gone to. Why? I’m afraid of looking messy (frizz is a daily threat). Then I get mad that I’m even worried about my hair. Lol. 😊
Same girl same. My female employer has even told me I should go back to coloring my hair and straighten it to look more "professional." That's a no from me. I love my silver, wavy whirlies!
@@tinat232 That’s just…. I want to say rude. But I also know where that kind of thought comes from. I still don’t think it’s right, or necessary. Although, I definitely got a lot of positive comments when I had a shaved undercut pixie. Sigh.
Women are often women’s worst critics. It sucks. I’m 53 and 20 yrs ago my boss gave me $2k for a new wardrobe to attend conferences. My friends didn’t understand why that made me cry. And not with joy. Since, I’ve gone my own way with hair and clothes. Not all observers understand. Sure, on a given Monday I may look like Hagrid but I rock my look with confidence, white hair and all, when needed because THAT’S my comfy place where my communication stars! I mean, my hair has no value but my words and actions do. I’ve seen every look imaginable in my LA career and the ones that make a lasting impression are the ones that are authentic. I’m still self conscious of course, but I wish us all the freedom to DO YOU!!!! 🎉💃👏🥰
Hey Mell! Can you talk about grey hair? What did you do to your natural grey hair? after you no longer bleach and dye your hair? What do you recommend if we just want to cover it?
I’m the kinda person that worries about how to style my hair so it compliments my outfit and my face! I have locs and love wearing them curly or crinkly and in buns. I’ve had all kinda hair but I started to feel the most confident when it was super short and green.
"Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one but we don't have to smell it." 😂 I'm keeping that one for when I give pep talks. Also Mell, thank you again. This was very fun. I have an activity tomorrow and I was unsure if my picked hairstyle will look good. But it is true, we can pull off any hairstyle as long as we are confident. Thanks for reminding us! 💜
WOW! This video so awesome! Love how honest and real you are! You say it like it is. Curly wavy hair is definitely a journey. Hair changes throughout life, it can get frustrating as we age. Thank you so much!
Ooo, a color vibe video could be fun! Also, yeah, it is interesting to see how people react to different styles. I usually have my hair up at work since it can get pretty warm while working, so clients often comment on my natural waves when I have the time & want to really sport them. But I also get nice comments when I straighten my hair too. Might do that for tomorrow since it's been a few months since I've straightened it.
I was using hair theory without realizing! I really don't pay too much attention to people around me, but I was giving myself different vibes when stiling my hair and was leaving the house with different attitude depending on how my hair was that day. Now I better understand why I can use it to my favour. Thank you!
Love your videos! Could you do one about how to style or manage thinning hair? I have long, curly hair, but have been struggling with what to do with it since giving birth as I am going through major postpartum hair thinning. I’m super insecure about it and end up just putting it in a bun cause I don’t know what else to do with it and I feel it looks so thin. Would love to see your expertise on cuts, styles, etc. thanks!!!
Your description of short hair theory gave me added incentive to cut my curls short...very short (almost pixie) after many years of shoulder length curls (that shrank to chin length). I LOVE the results. I've got my sass back, I'm saving money on products, tons of time, and I no longer dread wash day. I look younger, too, and am losing much less hair. How about some styling tips for short haired curlies in a future video?
Im a guy with 3a/3b/3c hair, diamond face shape, I always go no part, lots of volume, rounded with bangs. If I do a part its a zigzag middle part for me
I cut my hair short a couple years ago and I absolutely love it, it doesn’t get all matted in the back like it used to (cuz there isn’t really anything to get tangled lol) but I am going to grow it out again. I just want to be able to do more with it and I want to try really taking good care of my waves, just to see what happens!
Thanks for letting me me know what hair theory is! I saw the video of Amanda yesterday, and had no idea what it meant! I’ll have to do more research into this! Also, that scarf looks AMAZING on you. 💗
i finally found the haircut and style that looks best on me and i'm sticking with it!! wish i had enough energy to keep it dyed though, because the red i had for a bit there made me Glow c:
Thank you so so much. I have a high voice and I'm very caring and people tend to try to walk all over me. I straightened my hair and people seem to love it, but it's long now and I'm worried people think I look even more naive and or dumb
My gosh, so much to learn and see. Hair is everything. Thank you! Mel, for your input & charismatic energy. Ponytail was one of my favorites. And yes more videos like this please. ☝🏻😮💨😎❤️
I have really long, really thick coarse and wavy hair and im getting it cut to shoulder length next week, because wash day is too much of an ordeal for me! I will miss my "coverage" tho, youre so right about that.
For me, I'm fighting ageism in the workplace. Do I straighten or leave it curly? Do I go full gray and rock the silver or keep coloring any paying out the nose for the rest of my career? What I want, is to have a professional curly cut and rock the transitional hair, but still be taken seriously in the workplace. The struggle is real...
I think it’s ridiculous, but an unfortunate truth, that many people associate silver with age. Ageism is such a nasty reality. I’m trying to enter a new profession at over 55 and I’m terrified that I’ll never get a job! I went silver prematurely, and quit dying it several years ago, but I’m still getting the occasional comment from family members that I should dye my hair again. I think it’s BS. I think I’ll go opposite of a solid natural color, I’m thinking about multicolored streaks in the silver, because it’s fun and maybe reflects a youthful attitude? As a professor of mine said, the fashion colors would give me street cred!😁
Yet for me I've actually hired people based on their age, as I see it as experience! I chose a woman organizer and a therapist both whom are young at heart but let their life experience show in their full silver! 😊❤
What a fun video! I wish I could wear my hair natural and down more often, but I get so hot, I end up putting it up quite often. I’ve had a pixie after the birth of my first child, big mistake…..like Amanda, never again. Keep it coming, content has been awesome.
I was so insecure until I got side fringe? Bangs? Idk just "bangs" that are cut above my mouth that I can swoop to the side, then added layers to my hair. It didn't take long for me to realise how big of an impact the way your hair is styled can affect your entire vibe drastically and I'm so happy people are mentioning it now
Loved the explanation! I did a hair AI app and my guy friends loved my hair longer, I thought it made me look REALLY young… I’ve heard that short hair (pixie cuts) mean spiritual power and long hair means power on earth. Not sure what a bob means and that’s what I’m rocking now 😂
Short haired-no part, long bangs to my nose tip, curly girl who’s never straightened it. It’s to collarbones when wet and curls pulled out and I’m about to go super-short again (Chelsea cut) but I’ve never tried puffs (space buns) or accessories! Gonna try it! See if anyone notices a style change!
I self cut my curly hair on a shag with short bangs with a middle part and I love it so much I don't know how I would wear anything else 😂 although I do miss longer hair to do thick milkmaid braids
aw.. this is so helpful as for me who just started my natural curly hair journey. i would like to know which style and accessories to use to create different impressions for people like us curly hair. anyway always love your videos Mel, and Amanda too!! love🙆🏻♀️💗
I use 2 hair clips I use my Revlon one step dryer when the weather colder I use my hair insyler for soft curls When it's hot weather I wear my hair naturally curly Today I used my hair insyler and hot rollers I also broke another hair clip
I had very short hair and had my hair coloured from about 20 till I was about 50 years old . All in an effort to not have to deal with my grey and curly hair. Then I stopped cutting it so short and colouring it and now at 62 I love my long curly hair.
I have cut my hair short many many times out of anxiety 😅 it's not for everyone. I think it looks better for very angelic faces with very narrow chin ? It's weird cause I look very different in short hair vs hair pulled up with a claw clip. The later one looks wayy better on me idk why. Hair Theory is real. I would advice everyone to try wigs before cutting the hair short 😅
I have no idea what my hair texture is because if I do nothing to it it's just frizzy and maybe a little wavy but if I put curl cream and gel in it it is either super super loose curls or normal size waves but I definitely have ringlets at the bottom like curls the size of 2 fingers but the top is kind of straight still until like a finger above my eyebrow so I have no idea what texture it is can u pls make a video on what this means and how I can make it all one texture like yours
Many of us curlies have nothing but frizz if we allow our hair to dry with no product. There is nothing to keep the individual hairs clumped together in curl families, which showcases the actual pattern. Individual curly hair strands going every which way just read as a mass of frizz, not identifiable waves or curls. I have a curl pattern very similar to Mell’s and you’d have no idea of that if you saw it product free. It’s also very normal and common to have different curl or wave patterns on your head. Many of us do. I average 3b, but definitely have areas that are more 3a and some that are more 3c. You can “encourage” wavier areas to curl more or curlier areas to elongate a bit with products and techniques, but complete uniformity is unlikely to happen. Hair that doesn’t curl from the root could be a weight issue. Hair, especially long hair, can get heavy and pull roots flat. A cut with some layering may allow the hair up top to spring up more. It could also be a heavy product issue or just the way your hair wants to lay. If your hair is all one length, a haircut would be a good first consideration.
My hair is an absolute nightmare - it reaches past ma butt. i’m keeping it long so i can donate it. but it sucks that i can’t really have it down. i guess the one good thing is that it opens up a whole new world of crazy styles (which people know me for). Long hair’s great; really long hair, i 10/10 do not recommend.
I have naturally straight hair but I always wanted it to be super curly because being all serious and business just not my vibe (but super straight hair is very good if I want to seem like a bad bitch to other people) so I found my way to achieve a fun and confident look with really colourful hair (like green and pink)
Most of the time my hair decisions come from the weather, how long it’s been since it was washed, and my physical state of being, like if I’m going to work I know it will end up clipped back on either side or in a high pony, as most of the time I get hot and need my hair out of my face. In fact very rarely can I stand to have it near my face for long. I also don’t have a time of volume in my roots so manipulating it helps.
Loved your description of the pixie! I am a pixie girl trying to use so many of your lessons, but it gets tough trying to translate what I see you do to longer curls onto my short ones. I’ve appreciated the videos where you style “your main boy’s” hair, but really hoping you could try and strap a pixie into your chair 😂 🧚🏻♀️
@@tuttyfat right?! I mean, I get by of course and my curls have never looked better which I credit almost entirely to Mell, but there are certain techniques that I feel robbed of 🤣
This is so helpful.. would love the colour video too. Seriously I am searching for a style rn and needed the help. I also know more so now I have such a hybrid style lol but just can’t figure out how to let it lay. I constantly switch it up trying to achieve a more long face look and mixed vibe overall... plus, I would like to find something easier to style day to day too.. my hair is high maintenance ㅠㅠ thanks for the video! Hi Mel... Your videos are amazing and have transformed my hair! For the first time in 41 years I actually like my hair. I'm still at the beginning, I had a pixie cut with an undercut 😱 so still have issues with different lengths! I also have problems with a lovely curly left side but my right side is pretty rubbish! I can't work out which way the curls should go! Any tips? Thank you xx
I have issues with migraines and can’t seem to put my hair in a pony tail or even a soft headband like I used to. Do you have any recommendations on these styles that are gentle and won’t cause headaches? I feel like I have tried everything
I always wear my hair in a ponytail with my curtain bangs out but ever since I started learning how to take care of my curls I’ve been trying not to put it up so much but it’s hard because I’m so used to it and I get so hot easily
Can you give some examples of friendly vibe haircuts? Also examples of more serious hair cuts (as i look young and not taken serious)? If it helps i have fine wavy (2b) hair and an oval shape face.( i would like to take some length off my face though or round it out. So like a friendly/serious rounding haircut. It would be nice if it werent too hard to manage but dont mind if i have to.
My hair is knee lenght right now and the thought of cutting it makes me physically scared for my life and sanity. :D I've been growing it out since kindergarten (my mom loved short bob styles but I always wanted long hair).
Other than large changes (i.e long vs very short) I don't notice much of a difference on people's appearance (the difference of parting/ up vs down etc) and honestly I think people's faces look wider with a center part vs a side part.
My vibe is whipper snipper because my last hairdresser didn't know how to cut curls and waved away my reference photos. Let's just say I won't be going back, and I am not enjoying the months of grow-out before I can go to another hairdresser.
Hello! im very new to your channel, but loving the content. I have wavy maybe even curly hair and its always in a bun because I don't use anything besides regular shampoo and conditioner. Unfortunately I don't know what products to buy. But so far I've learned quite a bit from you. So thank you!!

I really want a tutorial of how to sleek your hair into a ponytail without disturbing your curls 😅
Your wish is my command 🫶🏻
Same!
Water, Gel and a soft brush and tie you hair down overnight
i’m confused about what this means? a sleek pony will always disturb the curls you’re sleeking
you need to make sure u dont brush your ends and make it frizzy and then you can use gel and twirl strands around ur finger to define them

The way you described pixie made me feel better about myself. Thank you ❤
I went short at 37 years old after a lifetime of long curls.
Try minoxidil foam the for men version. You have to use and keep using it but it should help.
That bun with the claw clip looks stunning! Would love to see more claw clip styles!
Just filmed a GRWM style video that will come out eventually soon, so stay tuned for style tutorials and tips ✨🫶🏻
Thank you!
Wow. When you show the side to side comparison it is a huge help! You're always amazing.
That turquoise hair on you made me GASPP! It would look sooo good!!
Sigh.
I have felt the same way but I have definitely rocked my curly hair during conferences and professional settings at my school events.
I feel like a low side pony looks really pretty and professional for curly hair.
It would be helpful to have some quick tips on achieving some of these looks for curly hair e.g. high pony tail, slick back, etc. thanks!
I’m the kinda person that worries about how to style my hair so it compliments my outfit and my face! I have locs and love wearing them curly or crinkly and in buns. I’ve had all kinda hair but I started to feel the most confident when it was super short and green.
Please do a part 2 on hair color ❤❤❤
Happy texture Thursday!! Excited to watch as always!! Hope you’re all having a great day ❤️
Happy Texture Tuesday lynzi!!! thanks for being here❤️❤️
"Opinions are like assholes. 💜
I think it was originally "most people's stink" but "we don't have to smell it" brings a more chill vibe
I definitely need to see some tutorials on how you created these looks ❤❤❤❤
Which one was your favourite?!
@@ManesByMell honestly all of them. I would have to watch the video again to tell you which one is my favorite 😍
With unnatural colors such as green, blue and purple too!
Would love to see your expertise on cuts, styles, etc. thanks!!!
love this topic! I'm 48 and I tell myself that I'll never be too old for a high pony
I would love to see tips for styling curly hair that is thinning on the crown..I appreciate all the tips you give us!
That's so fun, I personally think most people should try both cutting their hair very short, and growing it very long, at least once
I love these types of videos! My Favorite is the scientify ones 💖💖
You look so cute with the double buns! Like little cat ears 🐱
I actually loved it I need to do them more
Hi i liked.your vid but what about 4a-4c hair types, what impression does it give?
Center part literally looks amazing on you
My gosh, so much to learn and see. Hair is everything. Thank you! Mel, for your input & charismatic energy. Ponytail was one of my favorites. And yes more videos like this please.
☝🏻😮💨😎❤️
That's exciting! I am growing out my natural hair after a lifetime of coloring and I am very excited to see the end results and those healthier curls!
The snow was here yesterday in Burlington Ontario and the hockey is here tonight! C’mon Mell… go Leafs go! Loved your texture Thursday video!!
I have really long, really thick coarse and wavy hair and im getting it cut to shoulder length next week, because wash day is too much of an ordeal for me! I will miss my "coverage" tho, youre so right about that.
Yes Please 🙏 Please do a color video and a 2.0 for this one 😊
Hi Mel! I’ve been wondering for a while, where do you buy your clothes? Your outfits are always on point!
Hello hello!! This was a stunning sundress from Dynamite - although I don’t think it looked good on camera 😅 that’s definitely one of my fav stores!
@@ManesByMell I’ll look into that site! Thanks so much for a reply!! I’m honored 😅
@@DivineLightPaladin Exactly! Full awesomeness!
I did a hair AI app and my guy friends loved my hair longer, I thought it made me look REALLY young…
I’ve heard that short hair (pixie cuts) mean spiritual power and long hair means power on earth. Not sure what a bob means and that’s what I’m rocking now 😂
I swear I need you as a stylist! Wish you were in NYC
It’s crazy how people treat me differently just based on my hair texture color and style!!
I would love to see more videos from you touching on different subjects like vlogs or something!!
Please provide content on limp flat curls on thin curly hair. A day or two after wash day my curls are practically gone….
I self cut my curly hair on a shag with short bangs with a middle part and I love it so much I don't know how I would wear anything else 😂 although I do miss longer hair to do thick milkmaid braids
aw.. this is so helpful as for me who just started my natural curly hair journey. i would like to know which style and accessories to use to create different impressions for people like us curly hair.
anyway always love your videos Mel, and Amanda too!! love🙆🏻♀️💗
She's super gorgeous
i have such mixture of vibes haha i have naturally wavy bob and sometimes i do a cute half pony or half bun
I use 2 hair clips
I use my Revlon one step dryer when the weather colder
I use my hair insyler for soft curls
When it's hot weather I wear my hair naturally curly
Today I used my hair insyler and hot rollers
I also broke another hair clip
And by normal size waves I mean tighter than the ones she showed in this video and loose curls are like 2.5 fingers width
If you've ever watched Orphan Black, you know that a different hairstyle can make someone unrecognizable.
Happy Texture Thursday!! I'm excited for this one as always!! Hope you're having a great day!! Much love and happiness!! Xoxo 😘
Much love to you Deanna I hope you’re having a fabulous Friday-Eve 🫶🏻🫶🏻
Happy Texture Thursday!! This was so interesting!
Color would be a great follow up!
Interesting video! I'll definitely be trying some of these out!
Hello Mell can you make a video regarding your extensions please???
Loved your description of the pixie! I am a pixie girl trying to use so many of your lessons, but it gets tough trying to translate what I see you do to longer curls onto my short ones.
I’ve appreciated the videos where you style “your main boy’s” hair, but really hoping you could try and strap a pixie into your chair 😂 🧚🏻♀️
I feel you! I also have very short hair. All of the youtubers, techniques, advice and tips are for longer hair.
@@tuttyfat right?! I mean, I get by of course and my curls have never looked better which I credit almost entirely to Mell, but there are certain techniques that I feel robbed of 🤣
the low pony was my fave on you
I learned so much. Thanks, Mell.
That’s great to hear!! Thanks for watching Faye ❤️
Helps
@manebymell can you pleaseee do a tutorial with the cute hairstyles you worn for this video. I just love the update all!
My vibe is comfort. High pony.
You are such a fun person. Thank you for this.
okay the part about the sunglasses & the nose pads getting stuck in the hair🤣🤣🤣☠️☠️thought I was the only one
Y’all are hilarious. I love y’all to pieces. Hello from Virginia USA.
OMG, I didn't know you were a stylist. I wish you lived in Boston. I really need a stylist who knows curly hair
Your hair is gorgeous!!!!
I luvvv scarves, especially in summer poofiness😅
same here!!
Other than large changes (i.e long vs very short) I don't notice much of a difference on people's appearance (the difference of parting/ up vs down etc) and honestly I think people's faces look wider with a center part vs a side part.
I LOVE your energy! first video of yours i've watched and i'm definetely here to stay. curlyheads gotta stick together hahaha
My vibe is whipper snipper because my last hairdresser didn't know how to cut curls and waved away my reference photos. Let's just say I won't be going back, and I am not enjoying the months of grow-out before I can go to another hairdresser.
Please, please PLEASE tell me where you got that claw clip
Wow this is fascinating and your energy is amazing!!
Hello! im very new to your channel, but loving the content. I have wavy maybe even curly hair and its always in a bun because I don't use anything besides regular shampoo and conditioner. Unfortunately I don't know what products to buy. But so far I've learned quite a bit from you. So thank you!!
