Sometimes the best scenes are the ones they didn't script. I always laugh for this one. Bless Mike for staying in character, and giving us this gift of pure comedy gold.
@@vgkk5637 Actually, this scene wasn't script the producers were messing with the chair with remote control and Dr. Evil just went with it, it was supposed to be edited out but they stuck with it.
The Moon Unit Zappa joke is my favorite joke in this movie. I remember hearing “Moon Unit Alpha” in the theater and thinking, “Oh my god, I know what’s coming next,” and it did and it was amazing.
I love how they kept this in the movie. The chair freaking out was totally ad libbed by the crew and Mike Myers really thought he was going to get sick, LOL.
Fun fact, Mike Myers was actually malfunctioning in the scene. The directors were so impressed with how the chair stayed in character that they decided to keep it.
The funniest thing about this scene is that when he says, “the power of Christ compels you,” he literally sounds exactly like Jason Miller in the exorcist.
I COME FROM A REALITY WHERE YEARS ARE MERELY AN ILLUSION AND WE STILL DILATE OUR PUPILS TO FURTHER DISPLAY OUR ENJOYMENT ... AND NO I AM NOT A SPACE KRAKEN *NOW LOOK INTO THE FREAKIN LASER BEAM*
The spit sound is what kills me! I never knew this scene was legit, that just makes it ten times funnier. I wonder if he really threw up after they cut the camera.
A little fun-fact for anyone who's interested: The chair legitimately was malfunctioning on-set. They considered cutting it out, but seeing as how Michael Meyers stayed in character, they kept the scene in. :]
***** Though I believe this, this is cut like a scene, vs just having a long take of the chair spinning. But it's intercut with close ups and reactions. So basically I'm saying that though what you say isn't farfetched, this was still turned into part of the story, if that makes sense. Like it happened and then they shot a close up of 'acting' let's say because it would be planned. I am an editor. Clearly I know how to talk about making movies.
The fact that this was ad-libbed makes the later scene where Mini-Me's chair malfunctions- launching him up into the rafters/roof supports- even better.
It's obviously remote controlled, you can see the joystick moving by its self. If it was really malfunctioning it wouldn't need the stick to move it. This guy is just another one of millions on UA-cam that loves to blurt out untrue statements
It’s pretty amazing that the chair was actually possessed by the demon from The Exorcist (1973). Mike Myers ad-libbed the whole thing and the producers kept it in, giving you the scene we have today!
They said that the people behind the scene were just goofing off with the controls and messing with Mike Myers, knowing that the scene will be cut and removed (as a blooper/deleted scene), but it was so funny and fitting for the movie, they didn't cut it and kept it in the film.
The chair scene was filmed accidentally while the film crew was playing with the chair remote control while Mike was still seated. He improvised so magnificently that they decided to put it in the film.
When I first saw this, I hadn't seen the exorcist yet, so I didn't get the reference, and it was the same way when I watched Scary Movie 2. Thankfully, despite these hilarious parodies, it didn't effect my experience when I saw The Exorcist for the first time. That film had me so shocked after the crucifix sequence, that I was definitely not laughing during the exorcism sequence.
What makes this scene funnier, is that it actually is referenced in Mass Effect 2 or 3 (I can't remember since I haven't played that trilogy for ages lol), but EDI somehow manages to start to rotate Joker's chair and obviously Joker is voiced by Seth Green.
"I need an old priest and a young priest"

Nope he literally said it in the movie.

His 1st lines after the chair moving aren’t in character and you can hear a producer say “get a bucket” at the end.
The juxtaposition of this is gold. He wants to control the world, but can't even control his own chair.
I know, nothing works for him, lol... 👍
He is evil, but has to invoke Christ 😂
As is with all dictators
@@kaycey7361 Well spoken!
He surely can control himself, which is admirable.
This whole scene was gold and that Moon Unit Zappa joke is criminally underrated.

The Moon Unit Zappa joke is my favorite joke in this movie. I remember hearing “Moon Unit Alpha” in the theater and thinking, “Oh my god, I know what’s coming next,” and it did and it was amazing.
I like how the timing of the chair stopping implies that he actually performed a successful exorcism.
Movie directors: that wasn't supposed to happen
I have a feeling the "get him a bucket" was an actual crew member telling them to get Mike a puke bucket... 😂😂😂😂
It was lol. I came here to see if anyone else caught this.
Pretty sure it was Frau.
It sounds like they overdubbed Frau's voice over a crew member's voice.
It was Frau who said that lol

VERY ROTATIONAL, VERY CHAIR
irk hes amazing
Fun fact, Mike Myers was actually malfunctioning in the scene. The directors were so impressed with how the chair stayed in character that they decided to keep it.
From what I understand it wasn't a malfunction, it was the techs remotely controlling the chair messing with him during one take
The techs were controlling Mike Myers. The chair has some really good acting skills though when he noticed his Mike Myers wasn’t working
Fun Fact: Mini Me’s first name is Minimum.
The chair stayed in character?? You mean Mike freaking Myers
No no, the actual chair stayed in character too. It’s that brilliant of a chair
I don’t know why these Austin Powers videos are popping up on my suggestions but i’m loving it
