Fun fact George Lucas adores Mel brooks therefore he gave his permission to make spaceballs. The special effects are done by ILM. That’s why the movie looks so good.
That's because Mel Brooks was one of the very few people that could ever make George Lucas legitimately laugh
@@lostsoul7376 I didn’t know that. Thank you. Was George such a hard laugh then?
History of the world and the original producers are mel’s greatest achievements I think.
Soooooo funny. NVTS nuts. 😂😂😂
The only condition was that there was no merch made for the movie, that's why all of the merch was in the movie
@@An_Actual_Ditto yes, indeed. I forget that. Thanks.
Whoooosh. The spaceballs flamethrower, kids love that. 😂😂😂
Why wouldn't he all knowledge comes from the Akashic records.
Dark Helmet's entrance is executed in hilarious fashion. I like how the mystique slowly goes away with each passing second. My favorite shot is when he's walking and the camera pans to reveal he's way shorter than his subordinates and the face reveal at the end is perfect.
Did you notice his 'necktie' setup, slipped that one in too.
@@vumba1331 I know 💀 I noticed it yesterday when I was watching it.
General Grievous, you're way taller than I expected!
Always loved his German name - Lord Helmchen. It's a cute version of "Helm" (=helmet). Sorta like "helmlet", with a bit more UwU energy. Perfectly incorporates his tiny stature.
Well all in all, Moranis is the heart and soul of this movie. Smoke if you got 'em!
My favourite line from Darth Helmet- "What's the matter Colonel Sanders? Chicken?"
Absolutely brilliant, and absurd that Brooks named a whole character for that one gag 😂😂😂
He was called Dark Helmet, not Darth Helmet.
@@nowthatsjustducky It’s also Sandurz.
@@mjtruth1039 Yeah. I always forget that. It was a long time before I ever saw his name in print.
@@nowthatsjustducky his name in print was in the credits at the end of the movie..
@@jonweinraub Sadly, I never watched through the credits, so would not have noticed. Go figure.
8:45 John Hurt reprising his chest burster scene was hilarious.
"not again" he reacts to it like its diarrhea instead of having your chest torn open.
Why can't we have something similar with the other masters of death ?
The funniest thing is he has no idea Mel Brooks was recreating that scene until the day of. Until then he just thought he was doing a simple cameo
As well as the alien doing the WB frog impression.
No. Not again!
Spaceballs is by far the hardest “try not to laugh” challenge in existence.
U start at the beginning and don't stop till the end. I had reservation s ab it way bk. But only took once
@Kevin A Haven’t watched Blazing Saddles but have heard it’s super funny. I also liked Airplane and Monty Python & the Holy Grail.
COMPLETE FUNNY!
@@ketanfernandes4094 it is 100% airplane…..the amount of gags in that film is absurd
@@WithWizMedia it’s been awhile since I have watch Airplane but the ending for me was so so hilarious. Also when the guy throws the alcohol over his shoulder. 🤣🤣
Capturing the stunt doubles is a genius scene
I still quote that to this day because it’s the stupidest scene ever but I love it
Amazimg
In a way, the characters fourth walled their way out of being captured.
Mel made some of best comedies ever... Space Balls, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstien... All true classic cinimatic gold...
He's an insanely funny man!
@@61rampy65 And not one of those movies could be remade today... Which I guess is a good thing, considering how many franchises have been tarnished by recent remakes.
@@dashcamandy2242 Try making "The Producers" today. Not a chance!
Young Frankenstein was actually Gene Wilder's movie. The company just got Mel Brooks involved because they didn't think Gene Wilder's name would draw as much of an audience.
This is why Young Frankenstein is the only Mel Brooks film in which he does not appear.
Robin Hood Men in Tights is still my favorite spoof film of all time.
the amount of walls broke in this movie is immaculate
Not even Deadpool can break it as much as Mel Brooks does.
What dose immaculate mean
@@MariaLopez-ti4oo immeasurable or insane
@@charlie._ck what dose the first one mean
Sorry but in "Blazing Saddles", the actors literally broke off the set into other sound stages in Hollywood 🤣🤷♂️
Any TRUE compilation of Spaceballs' greatest funny moments must have runtime of at least 1 hour and 36 minutes or possibly multiples of that amount.
1 hour and 36 minutes is the running time anyway!
@@sha11235 And?
TRUE.
Lol
@@sha11235 that's the point!
One of the best movies ever made. As you journey through life, May The Schwartz Be With You regardless of what speed you travel. Even if it’s Ludicrous Speed.
I rather go ridiculous speed. Ludicrous is a bit too fast. 😂😎

hey are you still around?
"Very very very long vehicle. We take 5 light years to brake. WE BRAKE FOR NO-ONE!"
How could you not include one of the best gags of all time?😁
The ship is too big, if they put it in, the video would be over 🤣
@@icecreamassassin3006 Which is probably why they say "We Brake For NOBODY!"
ILM outdid themselves for that long shot. It's just the longest model they ever made, in all likelihood. No one can look at that sequence for the first time and comment on how long it is. Clearly someone is compensating.
The ship, Spaceball 1, according to canon, is 11 miles long!
Dark Helmet's desert helmet is pure comedic genius.
There's only one man who would DARE give me the Raspberry. Lone Star!
“Gets hit with the camera”
“Passes out.”
@@benhislop1458 *mooks turn to look, then turn back to what they were doing*
Really bad that they didn't finish the Raspberry Jam joke. My favorite line in the movie that I've been thinking about weekly: "Raspberry! There's only one man who would dare give me the raspberry: Lone Star!"
8:45 "oh no, not again" just might be the funniest part in the whole movie 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Because it's the same actor who died like this in the first Alien movie, John Hurt!!🤩😂
@@gastraball Now he's dead for real life. RIP.
08:20 I've been laughing at this moment for decades. The fact that the camera man has a Spaceballs t-shirt on as well is the cherry on top.
Uh he did it
The fact they were able to get John Hurt to pull this off again is great 8:47
"Oh no... Not again"
The ship is too big, if I walk the movie will be over
Mel brooks is a master of fourth wall breaking comedy

It's hard to believe it wasn't more of a commercial success when it first came out. It might be Brooks's most quotable movie.
I think Mel Brooks said that he’s made more money off of this movie than any of his other movies.
I will never give up hoping for Spaceballs 2: The search for more money

John Hurt should've won an Oscar for "Oh no! Not again!" 🤣🤣
when a parody film is better than the entire Disney trilogy
Star Wars was bought by Disney

When I was a kid, that moment started my crush on Daphne Zuniga.
"I see your schwartz is as big as mine."
This movie so funny. All the references and parody elements just make it a joy to watch.
How can you not have Dark Helmet telling Lonestar "Evil will always triumph, because good is DUMB!"?
Best line in the movie!
hey are you still around?
3:44 has to be the best 4th wall joke I've seen!
i liked the you captured their stunt doubles!
1:05 bro went from botanist who almost got eaten by alien plant, to space lord who probably conquered a bunch of aliens, all in 1 year, a true inspiration 😌
1:00 Darth Helmet this part is even better than Darth Vader's force choke love it.
and it is even more effective
divinely more painful that for sure.
Bro hit his space balls💀
Plenty of great jokes from this movie. Such a classic
I remember going to watch this at the cinema with my Dad not expecting a comedy but rather a Star Wars clone movie. Everyone in the theater thought there was something wrong with the movie reel.. I mean how long can a spaceship be! That intro will sit with me to the end of my days, LOL.
Rick Moranis genius right here. Best movie of all time.
When Dark Helm starts flying holding onto the bar and he looks so small like a child gets me every time, same with the fight scene with Dark Helm and Lone Starr and he pushes on Dark Helm’s head like a 6 year old running at him, “Fooled Youuu,” and “Oh my go-, I can’t believe it- you fell for the oldest trick in the book”
Mel Brooks...COMEDIC GENIUS!!!

When twelve year old me first saw that alien bust into hello my darling I could not be contained, knees weak on the floor balling for days and again at any mention of the scene.
Can relate to that. Afterwards the movie always ended for me before the this scene

Fun Fact: I watched "Spaceballs" at the age of eleven. I didn't watch "Star Wars" until I was twenty-six.
2:27 - Michael Winslow, who was also known for his role of Larvell Jones in the "Police Academy" series of films.
I was 7 when spaceballs came out
where can i get a "spaceballs the flame thrower" asking for a friend lol

And my son said...
"No."
Masterpiece. For some reason this is one of my Christmas movies. I watch it every year around Christmas.
I absolutely love spaceballs . George Lucas deserves the credit for giving Mel brooks the wish to make this movie and I absolutely enjoy the laughs

I absolutely love the constant breaking of the 4th wall
Princesses hair gets shot, so she wastes a whole squad 🤣

0:30 alright, now... I don’t care what you think, THAT is an AWESOME helmet!!😆
I saw this with my grandma in the movie theater back in the day. We were literally dying when Darth Helmet flew to the cockpit of the ship after breaking from ludicrous speed. And dying harder when it was played in fast forward later on.
8:20 used to always make me laugh. It still does.
Too bad they didn’t use a Wilhelm scream there. Missed opportunity.

The greatest Star Wars parody ever along with the Robot Chicken Star Wars specials.
0:03 most dramatic entrance ever
I expected this video to be 90 minutes long. The whole movie is comedy gold.
“I didn’t see you playing with your dolls again, sir!”
I miss John Candy very much every time I see him in this movie. He had the talent to be funny.
“When did we get to Disneyland?” That aged great.
spaceballs has got to be the funniest comedy movie ever. every joke i laugh it.
What always gets me is that little black necktie he has, like he is the universe's scariest office worker.
