- Bones Hyland is averaging 6 points and shooting 31% from 3 for the 23-24 season, along with career lows across the board including minutes played at 13 a game. He hasn’t played a game in the month of February and only 4 games so far two months into the year and many are wondering why the Clippers aren’t playing their sharp shooting ticking time bomb that was on his way up before he stepped foot into the building. Hyland is a player I enjoy watching because of his child like energy on the court and natural feel for the game on the offensive end. Unfortunate because to begin the season Bones was scorching, averaging over 16 points and shooting over 44% from 3 in the first 4 games in under 25 minutes per. The Clippers were 3-1 albeit against the Magic, Spurs, Utah and Portland, playing better than they have maybe since the went to the western conference finals in 2021, losing only 4 games in their last 20, and looking like the trade they made for James Harden earlier in the year is working out better than it looked early on. He had a reputation for being a locker room cancer I think he needs to mature a little bit and learn to bring some value to a team other from hero ball. I still remember him getting into it with Plumlee over something.

Michael Porter Jr was not competing with Bones for minutes at the SG position. Porter is 6’10” and plays both forward spots

Bones must be humble enough to figure it out. Lou Williams became that guy and won 6th man 3x off the bench

@@jlui21probably how he needs to look at it. No defense or inability to play it puts you in that role: I think he can be successful like that. Just has to go to a team that needs him.

Donte divencenzo also got drafted and he’s from the same city. And tbh bones always put it all on the line on the court. He was about to blow up before he hurt his knee or he wouldve been more highly recruited.

Bones needs to focus on other things like defense. He’s only a scorer with bad efficiency, so once Harden showed up his playing time went kaboom💥 You can’t be one dimensional as a role player on a good team.
Bones is always a positive on the bench every game of the season for the Clips. Fan favorite for sure.

I loved watching him play with the Nuggets. As a Clips fan, I was happy when we got him… but the Clippers are on a ROLL! So u gotta go with the Winning formula, I don’t think he should worry he’ll get his time to shine. Right now his focus should be the team and being part of a Championship team! 💪☠️

He's a combo and 1st guard at best, If he's not scoring he can't be on the court, he doesn't contribute elsewhere. He maybe out the league at the end of his contract. We've seen his type before. Many others/more talented players are out the league who have a similar game to Bones. Appreciate the video.

Yup unfortunate but with how much offensive skill has expanded just bein able to put the ball in the basket ain't enough especially is your a guard it really is a shame so many of these guys comin up today jus work on the flashy stuff and "havin a bag" over stuff like defense, rebounding playing without the ball, etc. and just focusin on havin a well rounded game all that said I'm still believe in bones he is a legit scorer who just needs the right situation to flourish I think he would be perfect for like a contender comin off the bench to run the second unit and get buckets a la lou will in the off-season if I'm the Knicks I'm callin the clippers and askin what will it take to get bones

He didn't have any problems with mpj (he's a 6'10 forward), his last year in Denver was the same year Jamal Murray came back. Being competitive as he is, he felt he was better than Murray and was going at him every practice. That may have turned into dislike between them and caused tension in the locker room. I feel like booth was just trying to cover up the actual situation

dude requested his trade. he voted to GTFO, why would they give him a ring when he showed them the middle finger and asked to play with another team?
Instead they voted to give it to Davon Reed. He was a teammate that wasn't even on the roster anymore but earned the respect from his former teammates and was well-liked. Bones was complaining when all he had to do was be quiet and enjoy the ride, and he would've earned himself a ring. Instead he was arguing with Jamal Murray and the coaches about his lack of playing time, when in fact he was our backup PG coming in to spell Murray. Yet somehow he wasn't getting playing time? He was becoming a distraction and rocking the boat so Calvin Booth made the correct call and traded him instead of MPJ. Don't blame the Nuggets organization, this is all Bones Hyland's fault he didn't get a ring.
Bones not only left the bench during a game, he went to the locker room, dressed and went home before the game was completed. This is the main reason he was traded.

i still remember how he had to play that game against the Nuggets because Clips were short injured players and how torched them mother's even though clips didnt make it further. He’s not even a bad defender if he is matched with a guard there is a lot of guards same size as bones in the league the problem with the clippers is they don’t have a PF only kawhi Leonard that shouldn’t be a PF he is too good for that PJ Tucker is a PF but don’t know why not using and also add Kai jones to this team. With bigs like PJ Tucker and Kai jones in the lineup is more clear who is in each position right now the position 1-4 is confusing in this clippers so the players don’t really know they position they be switching a lot cause they are all kinda big but not really it’s better to have actual bigs that will always be a presence in the paint at the 4 and 5, clippers have the centers but not the PFs , only PJ Tucker should add Kai jones now he is free

who can’t humble himself to learn the NBA way. He DOES make a lot of difficult/ flashy plays but those tend to be most of his possession, which explains his career 39% FG. Also, wanting a bigger role too soon and forcing his way from a championship team that has a proven track record of drafting and developing players extremely well
he’s a good player, clippers are just so stacked with vets there’s no room. Hopefully he gets traded to a team that could use him. He’s nowhere near a liability
