So, I tried the typing technique and I was impressed by my own voice. I am usually an incredibly fast speaker and that technique helps me slow down and actually get the right words out of my mouth..Thank you.
Hi. Let me share some technique for slower and confidently speaking . Imagine that you are explaining things in front of the kindergarten . So its nesessary to speak slower for the children and to try to sound more expresively and understandable . That also reduces the presere of the speraking in front of audience - those are just some kids , you know ;)
Tips: 1. Breathing 2. Opening you more mouth more than you used to. 3. Speak at the same rate as you write or type 4. Extending the sounds of your speech Try all of these and record and listen and then act accordingly I will definitely try these out. Thanks Patrick Good Luck Everyone!

This is absolutely phenomenal! I do door knocking for living and sales for living going on 10+ years now. I am told constantly, "sloooow down, why do you talk so fast?" I then think to myself, "I guess I do, I didn't mean to." Then I become to aware and start to feel really bad about myself so much so I feel I have no control or technique, that I start just saying, "I guess this is my life now." My own relationships with friends, partners, and family have been disrupted or hurt because I become annoying with how fast and how much I have to say. This is starting to really teach me to slow down my thoughts and word count in my speech, that I think I will come off as a much more effective and clearer speaker. Thank you for the insight! 🙂
@Kaylee Pershing - thank you for sharing your story! Yes, if speaking too quickly is causing disruptions in your life, knowing that you can change and then actually taking action to do so is incredible. Keep us posted on how it goes. And be kind and patient with yourself!

Good stuff, @Genelle Corum - you should love talking - it’s a gift we don’t think about too often. But what an amazing gift it is. And to embrace it with all its quirks and possibilities is the key to ENJOYING it!
I trying to slow down so I can narrate a story on UA-cam channel. If I speak as he said like typing, people will think I a mentally challenged person. Howdy from Texas.
I’m a very passionate person. When I speak it gets real ugly lol. I barely finish the word I’m on to get to the next one. I know it stems from me having the feeling of not being heard. People can be rude and impatient. I think it’s important for us in the fast talking community to have clearance to have the floor to speak. If people interrupt, we ask for a second to finish. And when we feel like a conversation I’d about to happen l, remember to breathe and speak clearly . Good luck everyone.
That’s great advice, Versatile Mind! One more thing to try is slowing down and centering ourselves. That way we can be more present with our thoughts, words and feelings. And we lessen the chances of overwhelming our listener. Let me know your thoughts!
Speaking slower is also good for approaching women or any starnger for that matter. The approacher has to carry the conversation, and if you can slow your speech down, you can fill more time with the same amount of words. Filler words (like, umm) tend to get replaced with pauses, which can build anticipation more effectively. This makes you come across more polished and smooth. Using short pauses as filler gives you more time to think, which leads to less mistakes and better thought out ideas. The listener tends to hang on to each word more than a bunch of word vomit. Your pronunciation becomes clearer. It shows you're more in control of yours faculties and emotions even if on a subconscious level. I'm sure there's more benefits but there's a few!
"Okay as i was saying you are amazingly very confident about your self because i don't know where i was going to be at life if i havent watched your video" Btw I'm practicing right now

Speaking at the rate I type is working wonders. My words are actually spread out and I will keep practicing this!
Love that, @flamestar!
When we’re under pressure, feeling nervous, we release adrenaline. This, in turn, shuts down a big chunk of our pre-frontal cortex in the brain. It just so happens that the Pre-Frontal Cortex is what controls our speech. It’s why in a big argument or standing in front of a crowd of people, you can’t think what to say! One technique I was taught was to take a large breath, it helps control your heart rhythm which in turn makes you feel better. I love this method of talking at the rate you would type. When you talk slower, you can also think clearer too.
This certainly sounds interesting. I will give it a go, as I suffer from ADHD and talking far too quickly is a real issue (as well as talking in a high pitched voice).

This helps me so much. I am a fast talker. Thank you sir from Philippines🙂
Its also helping me to talk without stuttering.🙂
I am happy to learn it
I will try this
Wow...Very helpful...Thanks...
Thank you, Rahim!
I'm just gonna impersonate what you say in the video in a relaxed way
These are such good methods, definitely will try them!!
That way we can be more present with
our thoughts, words and feelings. And we lessen the chances of overwhelming our listener. Let me know your thoughts!
Thank you I really needed this
I will try it
Anyone else speak so fast that it's just sounds?
