- Thanos and Darkseid are two of the most powerful characters in their respective comic book universes, but who truly stands above the other? There have been countless heated debates over the years with compelling arguments for both sides, but although Darkseid seemed to have the edge in ScrewAttack's Death Battle, there were several concepts which they outright ignored or got incorrect. So, was the research in the newest Death Battle accurate for the most part, or did both overpowered titans get downplayed?
Sir Splash and I go over the true potential, power, speed, and scaling for both Thanos and Darkseid in order to provide more accurate information and outcome.

I will do my own in-depth breakdown for Darkseid VS Thanos in the future as there was too much stuff to cover in one video, but this will do for now.

1. "lol why u put debunk if u agreed with the outcome!"
Outcome=/=research. The outcome was correct, but the evidence or arguments used to reach the outcome were largely misrepresented, ignored, or incorrect. So, the information they portrayed was debunked. It's like writing an essay with a correct or partially correct conclusion, but lackluster levels of evidence or reasoning. Such an idiotic way of thinking that details should be ignored simply because an outcome was correct.
2. "u only did this cause thanos lost."
Doesn't matter who won, I literally said the outcome was right but the research was half-assed. Whether or not Thanos won I would have debunked it regardless if the research was insufficient, I'd just be called a "DCtard" instead lmao.
3. "IG/HOTU Thanos would beat True Form Darkseid."
Lmao no. I love Thanos to death, but even I know he'd get fondled by True Form DS. I will debate why that is too, even though this video covered it well enough already. There ARE ways to get Thanos to Outerversal, but even then, Darkseid is on a much higher level of outerversal, so it wouldn't really change anything.

It’s funny because on the deathbattle podcast 1 week before the battle came out fans were upset because DB announced Thanos was getting the infinity gauntlet and a lot of people thought that made him to OP. Meanwhile I guess everyone forgot that darkseid “survived” all of DC’s reboots, so everything darkseid has ever done is still cannon. When I found that out I knew darkseid was clearly gonna win.
I thought everyone who knew who Darkseid is, knew that he survived all the reboots because he lives in a separate existence from the rest of the multiverse and his very essence acts as a counter to The Source, which is why Darkseid can never truly die. Only thing I wasn't aware of, is that he creates space golems for himself to use as his avatar's AND that he is the nemesis of the entire DC multiverse, not just the one. Meaning that every single entry of darkseid of every single cartoon and comic iteration published by DC, as long as it involves the Jack Kirby creation, is considered canon. I knew most of that part though.
Jesus Christ he only survived a one reboot and it wasn't like he tanked an explosion in the face that destroyed the entire Dc Multiverse he wasn't affected because the fourth world existed outside the dc multiverse and he wasn't affected because it didn't affect because the crisis didn't happen there, oh and also thanos was able to defeat eternity who is the manifestation of the marvel multiverse
Angela Angelina your are right true darkseid has not survived every DC reboot but crisis was probably the most important one. DC has a reputation of making their most character’s over the top OP where marvel makes their characters more human, before crisis happened Superman was so incredible strong that him sneezing destroyed the solar system and darkseid was a even match to that Superman. Plus thanos is screwed if he ends up in any other universe expect his own because the infinity gauntlet wouldn’t work.

Disclaimer: I know Death Battle is for entertainment, but they also do these match-ups to showcase, in their opinion, a deciding victor if these characters were ever pit against one another.
I hate Death Battle based solely on the fact that whoever wins will always come down to personal opinion on their part.
It will never be fair and they rarely lay out rules and guidelines for the characters. They also always fail to showcase the characters full potential and capacity (examples: personalities, techniques, combat knowledge, strategic mindset, etc.)
I believe the only acceptable win/lose between characters, would have to come from the creator.
Meaning the characters being pit against one another would have to be by the same creator, and since it’s their work, they’re within their right to say who would win/lose out of the two.
Fans are free to speculate whatever they want, but it would always be opinion.

Something I find interesting about Darkseid's speed is that even though he's so fast it's irrelevant, he fights very cocky, usually crossing his arms, rarely punching, essentially, showing his dominance in a fight. So it's irrelevant for the bonus reason that he barely uses it.

I know, thats the big question here, why they had IG thanos going to true darkseid and not true darkseid going to IG thanos? They wanted to put a scenario to give darkseid the win.
There's 3 things I really wish people would stop using as "factors" in versus fights.
1) No one cares how fast you can move in a straight line in a fight. It's irrelevant in close quarters combat that you can cross the universe in 5 seconds or 5 trillion years. Outside of the Flash and Sonic, no one has ever fought by travelling long distances in a straight line beside their opponent. You only have to watch or read Flash to know this, because despite his run speed being insane, he's constantly tripped, sidestepped, outmaneuvered and outpositioned by far slower foes.
2) Scaling is only a thing if the exact same thing can be compared. Whether or not someone "beat" someone else doesn't make their stats scale to match. If Batman blocks/survives a punch from Superman, every would agree that this doesn't mean Batman has higher durability than Doomsday who died from a punch from Superman. Context matters.
3) Characters declaring things doesn't make them fact. My favorite of "That was like 15 supernovas exploding in his face." doesn't mean the character survived the literal force of 15 supernovas at point blank range. Unless the context dictates that the statement would be true(i.e. analysis or evaluation instead of on the fly conjecture or emotional outcry), it's not proof of a feat or a stat.

So from 15:45 to 16:00, your video claims that SA did not properly scale how powerful True Darkseid is, insinuating that they portrayed him as weaker than he actually is. However in the Death Battle episode, Wiz says that in regards to Darkseid's true form: "his own existence in a universe other than 4th world would shatter the laws of reality, ending time and space as we know it," clearly demonstrating True Darkseid's destructive capability. Boomstick even follows that up by stating that "His avatar may lose some power, but it's still tough enough to survive a bomb that Lex Luthor designed to rip apart existence." So either you two missed that part in the analysis, or you're intentionally misrepresenting that segment of the video in order to mislead your audience. If it's the former, then I understand. We're all human, we make mistakes, it happens. But if it's the latter, then that's just a really scummy thing to do.

My biggest issue with screwattack is that they pick and choose what sources to pull feats from from all over the place when doing these. Either just use the current cannon versions of the characters or learn how to correctly pull feats from composite versions of characters.

One thing where you guys are heavily wrong is current living tribunal and you never touched on it is that the current living tribunal isnt as powerful as he used to be he got killed by beyonders who got killed by starband or Thor and don't get me started on Adam version of living tribunal he got mutilated by Lord of order and chaos in lifebringer galactus storyline and same Lord of order and chaos was beaten by panther god.
A Beyonder got killed by Thor and Hyperion but they died right after. The Beyonders dicked down Living Tribunal but it was multiple of them that killed him. It takes a Thor and Hyperion to kill one Beyonder but any more than that and they die. It takes 3+ Beyonders to kill the Living Tribunal. Also lords order and chaos were killed by Galactus not Bast. I forgot to mention that ONE Beyonder killed the rest of Thor and Hyperion’s team.

The reason why lord order and master chaos were able to kill the living tribunal was explained in the comic.
It was because the current marvel multi verse is new as is the earth 616 were the story takes, form the explanation given, since the universe is new, the cosmic entities are also new and have yet to fully settle in the positions and hence their powers are out of wack and everyone is pretty much on the same power level and it would take a while for each cosmic entity to fully regain their power level we're used to them having. That's why those two were able to massacre the living tribunal, at that moment the two of the together were stronger than the living tribunal alone.
WROOONG -Channel his inner Trump- The LT that got killed by the beyonders was the full powered living tribunal. It was stated the battle took place in all realities at the same time and since the living tribunal is just 1 being, that takes away any notion of ( hehe dude the beyonders only fought a fraction of the tribu al, he was nerfed huehuehue") Nope. The beyonders ( at least those 3 who were destroying the multiverse, all gods and the LT) are far beyond in power than anything else. Also a single beyonder destroyed all the celestials like nothing and I am prettybsure you did not need 3 of them to beat the LT. It is just happe s that those 3 were super strong. Also not all beyonders possess thw same power level but they are vastly superior than any marvel god. So in no way the LT was nerfed...if anything the LT was nerfed when the original beyonder came to be.

Thanks for the video. I was watching the death battle match while high (some good smoke) and started thinking how bullshit the calculations were; especially the speed calculations. They basically pulled numbers out of their asses and then plugged them into speed formulas. And how do they determine which feats to use and which ones not to use? For an example, a character might travel at the speed of light, but then later in the same story arc, that same character might be out maneuvered by standard Sabretooth in hand to hand combat. Death Battle will erroneously use someone's travel speed as their combat speed and ignore the fact they the character can only move like that using certain items or under certain circumstances.
I personally don't consider Death Battle to be the final judge for the ongoing debates, but I do think they do a great job overall. Darkseid is one of my favorite characters of all time, so finding out about his true form was very pleasing. For the research and fight scenes that Death Battle does, I really appreciate them. Regardless, I still dislike that they use these absurd calculations since I'm pretty sure the writers really didn't intend for the characters to be so fast.
My rating for Death Battle: Darkseid vs Thanos: 9/10.
The absurd calculations is just a reason for why it is people write these characters, they don't think about the implications of making these sets of powers. I mean, why do you think the speed force even became a thing to begin with?

I think the taxi stuff at the beginning was them testing out each others power. When they appeared to be affected by low level stuff like a taxi, that would just be a feint to try and trick their opponent.
I've been a Thanos fan my entire life, and have damn near every Marvel work that is about him or involves him in some way. Every time I had a comic discussion with someone and they brought him up, I always pulled out so much info on Thanos, they would sometimes get bored 😂 But, it feels soooo good to finally see someone else who actually knows what they're talking about when it comes to the Starlin masterpiece.
I love Thanos as much as any diehard fan and I've damn near read every issue or appearance he's ever been in and people definitely get bored with me even bringing him up since I do it so often but Darkseid is just so far beyond Infinite layers above Thanos that's it's not funny, his Soulfire form would be able to solo Marvel and Heart Of The Universe Thanos accidentally and his other forms would still be able to view Cosmic Cube Thanos or Old King Thanos as less than a tiny molecule.

@@tasiajahns8324 depends on the form, if it's an Avatar of Dwindled form then classic or regular Thanos using the Infinity Gauntlet or some of the versions that can beat Galactus may be able to beat the Dwindled versions but Old King Thanos needs the Heart Of The Universe and the Astral Regulator just to keep up with some of Darkseid's more powerful forms like his Anti-Life state. You know how in school you need to show your working out? Well in this case their working out was wrong but they still got the right answer.
Who cares about the working out? When the title says the video is debunked, it's promising that screw attack was wrong and implies that Thanos was supposed to win like this channel does with other debunking vids. That was my main point the whole time.
@@spartan113ish the outcome isn’t the only part of the video, spends quite a while giving information and then in the actual fight, imagine if Batman fought Superman in a fist fight and Batman actually held his own, and then pulled out a Kryptonite dagger and slit Superman’s throat, the outcome makes sense but the rest of the fight is BS.
A video debunking something doesn’t mean that all the information in it is wrong, it would be a review of a show calling the show trash in the title, it doesn’t mean there’s not a single good scene, joke or character, it just means as a whole the show is bad.

DB did a good job IMO. They don't always use everything in battle because sometimes it's just a waste of time cause of counters or other factors.
So, I liked your video, and you made a lot of good points. My problem with some of the stuff you say is that, while screw attack is supposed to take characters at their best, you have to also account for what you normally have. And like you said (and correct me if I misunderstood), Thanos threw the cosmic cube away, or stoped using it to be a universe cause he got bored of it. This means that me normally doesnt use it in fights and most likey won't have it on his person. I kinda think that makes the fact that he has used it in the past irrelevant. If I may make an example, in Batman vs Black Panther, people said Batman should have own cause he could destroy BP's armor with sonics, since he carries them to deal with clayface. To be far to them, that is true, but just going out on patrol, Batman probably doesn't carry enough to overpower and destroy BP's armor, making that fact kinda irrelevant in a fight. I hope I explained that correctly. Anyway, good video!

Why did you mention Thanos' feats against abstracts in the "Thanos Wins" storyline as if the entire abstract hierarchy has not been completely altered by the events of "The First Firmament" storyline? There's a reason why Logos (Order + Chaos) was able to wreck the Living Tribunal and Galactus in just a few panels. It's because Marvel's abstracts aren't the same as they were in Thanos: The End or any other storyline before that. Thanos' feats in Thanos Wins against abstracts like Galactus, LT, Celestials, etc aren't able to be scaled to classic Marvel. So, all of that is just embellishing without context. I get the critique on ScrewAttack's portrayal of true Darkseid, but the scaling you did with Marvel's new abstracts is just as bad, if not worse lol. Darkseid still wins, but with Marvel's new landscape, we don't currently have enough information to compare the power of classic Thanos to the power of current Thanos (before Gamora killed him). I mean, Gamora chopped off Thanos' head with a power gem infused sword directly after Thanos fought the Pheonix force hand to hand-- all of these things taking place post-god quarry (which was assumedly a power-up). The point is that current MCU power scaling and power hierarchies are kinda f**ked, and so any extrapolation you make from that isn't going to necessarily scale to classic Marvel. So, really I think that both you and ScrewAttack made very similar errors. In all fairness, I guess that tends to happen when comparing levels of infinity. This "debunk" was pointless and petty, but most of all, almost completely inaccurate.

There's a very simple reason why Death Battle uses actual calculations instead of terms like "irrelevent speed", "immeasurable" or "outerversal". They are all just meaningless words that make no sense to anyone but power scalers.

Darkseid wasn't affected by Flashpoint? Uh, what? Flashpoint is the only reason there's even a Darkseid at all. TFDS was killed by Superman at the end of Final Crisis. That was supposed to be permanent, as it was a send-off for the New Gods due to a feud between DC and the Kirby estate.

Technically no. Thanos exists in the 4th dimension. Another universe away from the other. The flashpoint scientifcally speaking would only affect the universe that flash is on. Since the other earths vibrate at a different frequency. And 4th dimension is in another universe thus not being affected by flashpoint

Every time there is a discussion about DS and Thanos you will 100% of the time here somebody bring up True Form Darkside. THERE IS NO SUCH THING as true form Darkside. The writers said so. One of the writers said he liked the idea that FANS have come up with for there being a true form Darkseid but the other writer said that the fans are just misinterpreting the comics. DS is fifth dimensional and when he travels to Earth which is third dimensional he uses a boom tube which shrinks his size and power. The same goes in reverse. When someone from Earth was to ApoKalypse They grow in size and power. So the fights with DS are actually DS. They are not avatars except for a few instances.

True Darkseid is just Darkseid on apokolips which is situated in a different dimension which is bigger than the dc multiverse. I do think the point about screw attack continually throwing out massive calculations that are either just wrong or irrelevant is relevant. If people care enough to watch the battle, someone should care enough to fact check them.

If Death Battle just went "Hey this episode we aren't gonna calculate their speed because it's Irrelevant" the average viewer who doesn't know much about the comics would be pissed. They do this quite often with calculations that are ridiculously hard or even impossible to find out. A rough MASSIVE number sounds a lot more impressive than "We can't figure it out"

Quick question: When has Darkseid aside from modern alterations and retcons ever used speed in combat? Ever? Name a single issue of Darkseid even out speeding freaking Superman in a fight. Never. As for this BS about True From Darkseid, that is literally irrelevant considering TS DS exists in his own pocket universe similar to Dormamu and once his link to is avatar is broken i.e. his avatar dies, that's it. Darkseid has no way of interacting with the DC universe. He certainly does not have the ability to open literal portals to invite people to his domain. In other words he has no actual real world feats that puts him on the level of Thanos. Unless of course you give DS home turf advantage and straight up start the fight in DS domain...which would be absolutely ridiculous considering Thanos would never willingly give his opponent that big of an advantage.
For the record, Thanos would easily kill DS avatar. And that would be it. There would be no instantaneous reincarnation. End of fight.

Because they make it sound like one character is weaker when it really isn't. Its misinformation regardless. Its like saying its a stomb but really it was a close call. What if they decided to bring (insert character) back. You would use the old misinformation from the last fight. If the character loses the next fight due to that misinformation, there's a problem. Hypothetical Example: lets say thor vs wonder woman and in the analysis it says thor is only as strong as lifting a building nothing more. Regardless WW still wins, but bring thor back using the last information for the next fight (remember it states thor is only building level strength) thor vs sonic the hedghog ( I think he's city level at best, not sure but u get the point) and thor loses that fight. All due to the misinformation .

the whole reason anything happens in the animated side of deathbattle is for entertainment purposes. while obviously, taxis won't harm Thanos or darkside, it was telling a story of how fucking insane these characters are, going from fighting in the bank to fucking throwing planets at eachother. this is all because it's not fun to watch a shit stomp, at least for a lot of people. overall though, it's a good video that ye made chuck, and honestly, it'd be cool to have a video of you and at least Ben just talking about the process of deathbattle and how they don't follow the calculation norms that other power scalers do
