Yep. 😁 TNG, DS9, & Voyager really recycled a lot of models, props, sets, imagines of cities, and scenes of ships floating in space. Even now, I'll occasionally noicte something I've seen used in another episode.

Happy to have you back. This is one of those episodes I believed was going to be action packed, talking about firing on the Enterprise and possibly starting a war in the weekly trailer. Then it aired and was unfortunately very disappointed. But it was fun if nothing else. Live long and prosper my friend 🖖
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios Oh, I think it was MEANT to be that. The title would indicate that. It was just pulled off so badly, you can't tell. As I stated above, this feels like an attempt to force a new recurring character on us, a Han Solo crossed with Harry Mudd. It was just wrapped in poor dialog and a weak plot. The problem is the Enterprise crew had no stake in the game. If you look at the good comedic episodes, there's still some very serious stakes for the crew. After repairing the ship, PIcard should have simply dropped Okona off somewhere equidistant from both planets and been on his way.
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios i got the Romeo and Juliet part of it, i even liked the Data trying to understand humanity through comedy stuff, but overall i liked the episode because it wasn't outrageous just simple tongue in cheek, the main story line wasn't original by any stretch of the imagination, but for me that adds to it if anything lol

Yes! Back Trek! Excellent info, especially the bit about "Les Mention". Seems like someone didn't want to be a part of this episode, as it can be a bit of a bore. Though, at least this episode is not about evolving space fish.
I always liked seeing another part of Trek’s world. People not in Starfleet and how they lived in this world. That’s something we didn’t really get much of in all of Trek. It’s also why Trek fans are so locked in to Trek lore as the world of Starfleet. Something the new shows have tried to breach. Rather unsuccessfully. Still, this ep was a missed opportunity at a “Starlord visits the Enterprise” type of episode.
Really? I think the new shows have successfully breached that nonsense of old Trek... Its clear to me from my research for the up coming historical overview, that Genes crazy influence prevented a lot of Trek from being great... Even after he no longer had ANY influence over the show, those people involved STILL acted like he was there given the Starfleet Bible to everyone... It's unfortunate as Starfleet could have represented the best of humanity, while having rogues that show humanity still strives to maintain greatness...
TriAngulum Audio Studios I think Search for Spock was the first peek in to the underbelly of a part of Trek we didn’t get too that often. Especially in TNG. Those two “Terrans” at the beginning working with a Klingon as smugglers. Just two dudes making a living their way. What’s their story? What is living in the Federation like for them? That’s more what i meant.
Yep the enterprise got boarded with a human version on Nelix. Trek doesn’t seem to get the Rogue character just right. There is a lot of potential conflict with a guy who does things his own way on board a structured military vessel.
It's why I stopped watching at some point until the "Best of Both Worlds" . Well that, the uniforms and how they kept throwing to Data and Worf with corny stuff the way Kirk and Bones did with Spock .

I try to respond to all comment, of course I cant though because of the sheer number of them daily, but I read everything! So even If I dont respond, know you're comments are on my radar :)
I first saw William Campbell as a regular on the 80's TV series Crime Story. His role was the young detective on the squad and rarely had much to do. The series, however, is excellent. It tells the dual story of an up and coming Chicago (later moved to Las Vegas) gangster and the police lieutenant trying to catch him. It's set in the 1960's and it was one of the first attempts at serialized drama on TV outside the typical soap opera format. It only lasted two seasons and ended on a cliffhanger. Back to the episode. It just felt more like a case of them wanting to introduce a new recurring character than actually write a good story. The Romeo & Juliet plot was so transparent, you'd think Picard would have scoped out the situation within the first 10 minutes. Okona, himself, just felt like some executive said the show needed a Han Solo-type character who could embroil the crew in shenanigans a la Harry Mudd. Ultimately, it put the main cast into the position of spectators as they really had nothing to do with the main plot. Wesley's statement about not being able to "be always leaving" rang hollow to me. At this point he, he wants to be a Starfleet officer. "Always leaving" is pretty much in the job description. Either, they're moving from planet to planet or they get transferred to different posts. He grew up with a mother in Starfleet, and at this point she'd been transferred after only a year on the ship. He'd have experience with frequent moves. Joe Piscopo is a pretty good comedic actor, particulary in sketch comedy. He's not a great stand up comic. He's best when made up doing voices and characters. Not a good choice for this role.
0:57 actually...there is...in two perceptions 1 - the way he behaves and his outlook on life are plausible to be considered by career officers etc as outrageous, due to the fact he’s simply got a different outlook on life...how often do parents who want their kid to become a doctor or lawyer or such consider their kid to be outrageous when he decides he wants to choose a different profession they don’t approve of, yet the kid succeeds and is happy 2 - the circumstances he found himself in were outrageous...the accusations and the general “cliche” was such...not to mention, I’m sure he’d be a bit outraged at being accused etc lol Semantics, but the first point is the main one...take next gen era Picard specifically...Picard would likely have a view of the man as being outrageous due to the societal norms of the ships crew and starfleet as a whole...?
Sorry I dont buy that at all... Cause then you'd be saying that Picard views Riker as Outrageous, since Rikers behavior AND situations he's been in are FAR more Outrageous then Okona... And we know he does not, so sorry dont buy it at all...
TriAngulum Audio Studios yet river has a commitment to the authority and command structure of starfleet, and thus limits such shenanigans to shoreleave times, yet can push that to the side when the situation is serious...yet okana is just a “devil may care” pretty much all the time... Furthered by the “lone freighter captain out on his own” notion compared to being part of a whole and therefore having responsibility balanced with relaxing I simply put that forward as a “potential” concept of why they writers etc titled the episode that despite your comment of “lack of outrageousness”...
Covering TNG season 1 and 2. Have you looked into those 2 jellyfish like Far Point Station aliens? I don't think we got much about them, not even a name. And I just ran into them on STO, so you'd get some interesting visuals there.
Fun fact: William Campbell finally had to change his first name as “Billy” cause there is already a William(Trelane, Koloth). Okona was very much a poor man’s Han Solo and could have returned in a TOS inspired TNG episode. But he did reappear in a comic in the 90s.
Im pretty sure that's just a myth, as he is listed in this episode as William O Campbell... But if you have a valid source for this fact Id like to see it :)
TriAngulum Audio Studios my Ex best friend pointed out to me and I should have kept the information that he sent to me. When Cambell’s career was flying high in the late 90s with Once and Again he just change his first name to Billy. Whether having his first name as Billy was a hip thing or it was a mid life crisis aspect who knows. But the Trek alumni theory is a fun myth.
Ah! That's during the intro, and I dont make the intros... I asked Siren, my channel manager, that made the intro and Siren said it was an artistic choice!
I agree that this episode was boring AF; one of my least favorites and least memorable episodes. The only thing I remembered from this episode was how good looking Okona was but I did not like the ponytail. I figured that the only reason Riker did not like him was because he was stepping on his shoes; he was a much better looking version of Riker.
TriAngulum Audio Studios - Pretty well established that carnal relations with subordinates is an issue in Starfleet. Maybe not prohibited, but is asking for trouble,
@@qdllc Its up to each individual officer... It certainly isnt a rule as Janeway makes clear... So your statement about Riker was untrue... And besides we've seen him having relations with a few fellow officer through out the years, Including Troi! :P
wow..you really missed the perspective point of the title. The outrageousness is from the parents perspective, not the Enterprise characters. If you had removed all the interactions with the Enterprise crew, the final results where the 2 lovers come out to their outraged parents would have most likely been the same. The Enterprise crew was immaterial to that part of the story. About the only thing you get from the Enterprise crew is there's still a hookup culture in the future and that they aren't all a bunch of prudes.
No sorry, I didnt, as his behavior is NOT outrageous from ANYONES perspective! I think you're just looking for a reason to try and justify the title... But you've got nothing as the episode is CLEAR that Okona is supposedly outrageous from ALL perspectives!
Apparently you dont remember the episode very well... As EVERYONE was so pie-eyed about how Outrageous Okona was... The ENTIRE episode... Not just the last 10 minutes... And NOTHING he did was outrageous even in the late 80's so again, you got nothing!
Also please do not edit your posts continuously... As each time you do UA-cam is holding your comments... If you have something to add then add it as a new comment...
Soooo them talking about how outrageous he is means they werent talking about how outrageous he was? I suggest you go back, watch the episode again before commenting... And I also suggest you stow the attitude, it's unwarranted by the comment that you tried to post that I did not approve as UA-cam caught it for being toxic... Simply because you WANT something to be true doesnt mean it is... You got this one completely wrong... If you researched this episode extensively as I did, you'd see that the intention one that EVERYONE would find Okona Outrageous and that EVERYONE involved in the project agree he wasnt outrageous at all... So you might hope that that was why it was called what it was... But it simply wasnt... You've got nothing....
Opinions are NEVER right or wrong... And Im glad you enjoy the episode, but you CERTAINLY are not the majority... See the community tab poll on the subject!
What? This is one of my favorite episodes of TNG. The guy playing Okona super sold the swashbuckling rogue character. When I imagine making a Bard in D&D, my go to is always Okona. ^_^ I was not a fan of the Data B-Plot. It was really corny, if well acted by Spiner.
Worst? I think that's *very* subjective. I agree with TriAngulum in that it's a very middle of the road episode. End of the day, it was pretty much a glorified bottle episode.

On the next Staaaaaaaaar Trek
LOL
First like, first view, first comment!
Legend! :P
Wait you dont like dr. Polaski?
0:57 actually...there is...in two perceptions
1 - the way he behaves and his outlook on life are plausible to be considered by career officers etc as outrageous, due to the fact he’s simply got a different outlook on life...how often do parents who want their kid to become a doctor or lawyer or such consider their kid to be outrageous when he decides he wants to choose a different profession they don’t approve of, yet the kid succeeds and is happy
2 - the circumstances he found himself in were outrageous...the accusations and the general “cliche” was such...not to mention, I’m sure he’d be a bit outraged at being accused etc lol
Semantics, but the first point is the main one...take next gen era Picard specifically...Picard would likely have a view of the man as being outrageous due to the societal norms of the ships crew and starfleet as a whole...?
Sorry I dont buy that at all... Cause then you'd be saying that Picard views Riker as Outrageous, since Rikers behavior AND situations he's been in are FAR more Outrageous then Okona... And we know he does not, so sorry dont buy it at all...
TriAngulum Audio Studios yet river has a commitment to the authority and command structure of starfleet, and thus limits such shenanigans to shoreleave times, yet can push that to the side when the situation is serious...yet okana is just a “devil may care” pretty much all the time...
Furthered by the “lone freighter captain out on his own” notion compared to being part of a whole and therefore having responsibility balanced with relaxing
I simply put that forward as a “potential” concept of why they writers etc titled the episode that despite your comment of “lack of outrageousness”...
@@trayolphia5756 Again dont buy it... As NO one is that blind as to what Outrageous behavior IS in reality... Let alone 4 different people!
Covering TNG season 1 and 2. Have you looked into those 2 jellyfish like Far Point Station aliens? I don't think we got much about them, not even a name. And I just ran into them on STO, so you'd get some interesting visuals there.
Not one of the better episodes to be sure.
LOL well I seriously doubt your Ex Best friend was correct ;)
TriAngulum Audio Studios that’s why he is my ‘Ex Best Friend” 15 years of friendship and he was a total loser!!! Should have ended much sooner.
Yes especially with them giving you false Trek Facts :P
One question. Why is the tng photo reversed
Huh? What do you mean?
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios group shot. Towards the end of opening.
You want to give me a specific time in the video? Thanks
Ah! That's during the intro, and I dont make the intros... I asked Siren, my channel manager, that made the intro and Siren said it was an artistic choice!
I've seen a few videos and they were reversed. Thought it may be a copyright issue.
He certainly was free to sleep with anyone on the ship...unlike Riker.
@@qdllc What? Riker was free to sleep with anyone he wanted, there's NOTHING in canon to suggest he couldnt...
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios Well it has been a while, but I would consider them fascinated/enthralled by him and not outraged.
I think you are totally wrong about this episode, I had a blast watching it
Opinions are NEVER right or wrong... And Im glad you enjoy the episode, but you CERTAINLY are not the majority... See the community tab poll on the subject!
This soundtrack is chill and mellow I like it more than the disco But it’s almost To chill I do like the variety though

Am I supposed to be hearing Pink Floyd while hearing this BackTrek review?
It certainly isnt Pink Floyd LOL
What? This is one of my favorite episodes of TNG. The guy playing Okona super sold the swashbuckling rogue character. When I imagine making a Bard in D&D, my go to is always Okona. ^_^
I was not a fan of the Data B-Plot. It was really corny, if well acted by Spiner.
That porno music was pretty outrageous.
One of the absolute worst episodes of ST:TNG. And yes, I sat through all of the first season, as well as "Up the Long Ladder".
This episode has ALWAYS just rubbed me the wrong way!
Worst? I think that's *very* subjective. I agree with TriAngulum in that it's a very middle of the road episode. End of the day, it was pretty much a glorified bottle episode.
Well they did say ONE of the worst... And yes it's subjective, just like "Glorified Bottle Episode" is, but still a valid opinion! :)
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios Like I said, *pretty much* a glorified bottle episode! 😄
But yes, you're right, he did say one. 😊
Repeating it doesnt make it ANY less subjective :P
Some of us just cared about Okona
Caring about a character doesnt = Good Episode :P
This WAS pretty lame! Spiner carried the ep!
Indeed he did!
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios A very UNDERRATED actor! I don't think many others could pull off the Data character!
It's no Code of Honor, but it's still fucking awful.
Truer words were NEVER spoken :)
This episode was one of the worst Star Trek: TNG series episodes. Code of Honor was the worst. Too arrogant and too cocky for the episode "The Outrageous Okona" turned me off.
This is my worst TNG episode by far.
Its just so.... Blah...
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios it's always been the least watched episode in my collection. It's nice to know others feel the same way about it.
Well im definitely on your side with this one! :)
Code of Honor is my worst.
Oh, this episode was glorious in comparison to Shades of Gray at the end of s2.
