Kate was always a favorite of mine, devotedly having watched her as Jill Danko, Sabrina Duncan and Amanda King. But I loved them all, and was devasted when Farrah passed away. Angels all of them, forever.

@Rookielove1 Ah, there's Rookielove1 piping in ever so often (sometimes years apart)to boost Cheryl Ladd and usually to talk down Kate Jackson. Sometimes your posts are years apart. Wow. Cheryl was wonderful as Kris and was my 2nd favorite angel (after Kate/Sabrina) but they all brought something to the show. But you cannot put Shelley Hack and Tanya Roberts on the same level as the original 3 and Cheryl. David Doyle was awesome! May he RIP.
These three ladies were magic together - The amazing chemistry and genuine liking they had for each other - the girlish teasing and laughter they displayed. They were dynamic!!!

I always thought Kate is beautiful and intelligent! Her Sabrina Duncan was my favorite character on CA. I always played Sabrina when my friends and I played CA.
No other trio of actresses ever had the phenomenal chemistry that these three ladies had together - on screen and off!!! They just sizzled and when you had any combination of just 2 of them in a scene it was magic but when all three were together - it was something else!!! I think that is why "Angels In Chains" was the most memorable episode because all three ladies were in most scenes together. Especially their escape scenes, when all three were chained to each other, those scenes were divine!! I liked Cheryl Ladd, but sorry - that special palbable magic was not there like it was that first season. The orignal ladies are and will forever be the BEST and ONLY "Charlie’s Angels” for me and I think I speak for the majority of my fellow Gen Xers who watched this show as kids circa 1976-1977.

@@swolfe9668 I am not knocking Cheryl but most people agree with me that the 1st season had the best chemistry between All THREE. You can see in the 2nd and 3rd year that there was tension between Kate and Cheryl. Not saying it was Cheryl’s fault but it definitely showed.

As a very young girl, only about 10, I wasn't allowed to watch the whole show, but I'd get bits & pieces of it. My friends & I would play "Charlie's Angels at the beach. Lol I love that they had amazing, clothes, hair, lip gloss & were adventurous crime fighters. Beautiful women of power! What a time to be a young girl!

Three beautiful women
They were HILARIOUS! They could have done a reunion movie with those three older and it would have been lit!
They tried to get a reunion show for years but wanted Farrah who kept saying no. (Kate probably wouldn't do it without her as she didn't get along with Cheryl) . Farrah finally said she would do it but then was diagnosed with cancer. I still they should so do it with the rest of cast

Aaron torpedoed Kate Jackson's career when he refused to let her play Joanna Kramer.
I feel bad for Kate. She could have had a major film career (you are “hot” in the film industry for a brief hot moment). After Charlie’s Angels, she was in flops such as Topper, Dirty Tricks, Inmates: A Love Story, and Thin Ice. She was great in Making Love, though, her comeback.

I agree! That wasn't nice. Jaclyn is so incredibly vain and always has been as if this was the most important thing. Kate proved that she could be very sexy without doing the glam and skimpy outfit thing all the time. She was cool, daring, caring and fun. And she was NEVER prissy. THAT was what made the show cool to watch.

Cheryl Ladd said in an interview, the relationship with Kate Jackson was professional and complicated. Although her character was supposed to be the younger sister of Jill Monroe, they weren't close either. Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson were the original angles. Each of them had a unique characteristic about themselves. Kate was the smart one, Farrah the athletic one, and Jaclyn the beautiful one. Kate felt the addition of Cheryl ladd made the ratings drop, which they didn't. When Cheryl got there, the show became more sexier in terms of the outfits they would wear. I think that's why she didn't get along with her, hence she became unhappy with the show and producers, which led to her leaving after the 3rd season. With the addition of Shelley Hack, and then Tanya Roberts, the ratings plummeted. Neither of them could fill Kate's shoes the way Cheryl filled Farrah's. They were both awful!

Yes it did. I became a big fan after she made that movie. She was awesome in it and finally got the recognition she deserved.
Kate loves her friends but she was annoyed with the show because they wouldn't let her out to do a movie from her contract. To add salt to the wound it was Kramer vs Kramer and it was Meryl Streep biggest movie.
Farrah got cut out of the Goldie Hawn hit "Foul Play"!

It is very sad not to have Cheryl in these reunions. She played her role even longer than Kate.
We do not know the reasons for Kate and Cheryl not getting along. Therefore it’s not fair to put all the blame on Kate.
Kate was a strong woman and she was the one who stood up for better scripts and better working conditions for the girls (they wouldn't listen to her and the show went downhill when she left). So no wonder the patriarch executives started calling her bitch. Because when a woman stands up to improve things like she did, to better the show, she'll be called that... How nice...
And something many are not aware of, without Kate Jackson there’d never have been Charlie’s Angels. She co-created it with the producers and she was the one who came up with the name of the show and the idea of the concept that has been so succesful.
And she clearly was the best actress among all the angels. There's no doubt about it. By far. She was a pro, the backbone of the show and the true star who didn't have to wear skimpy clothes. What made her stand out was her unique beauty, fantastic acting skills and her charisma.
UPDATE:So I said this ^^^^ in April 2020. Only two months later I learned more and it's about time to clear things up. Be aware that this is the sugar-coated version of what someone from behind the scenes said. The way the guy said it was very harsh because he was so pissed off at the haters who constantly keep bashing Kate Jackson in a very unfair and mean way. He worked on the set when they shot the first couple seasons and he didn't like what he witnessed when Ms. Ladd joined Charlie's Angels.
He says Kate was very nice to people, including the people working on the set who weren't "stars". People liked her. She was more down to earth in many ways. Farrah was very sweet, and she had a great sense of humor in the sense that she'd laugh at everyone's jokes. The other girls loved her.
The guy says that set was a madhouse. It drove him crazy. Hair and make-up (people) were always flying around between takes, and it drove Kate crazy. Jaclyn wasn't too crazy about it either. Farrah didn't seem to mind.
Then Farrah left and Cheryl came along. She was sort of a diva and ordered people around. For example she ordered someone to get her a soft drink once, and the poor girl brought her the wrong one. Cheryl got really mad.... The guy says that Kate hated her for that shit. Kate was a pro - she never treated people like that.
Plus Cheryl was a big time Republican and very conservative while Kate was a big liberal.
He also says that people have to understand Farrah had been a ray of sunshine on that set. She was always so pleasant and happy. Things were different with Cheryl. She was a nuisance from day one. That created a LOT of tension, particularly given the comparison. Cheryl was not a friendly girl.
That's the summary.
It's interesting that Ladd has admitted that she ordered people around to bring her soft drinks and that she had let success get to her head when she was on Angels.

About scripts getting worse. She was a perfectionist and kept asking for better ones and was persistent. And like we all know the producers refused to allow Kate the time off to do „Kramer vs. Kramer“ so eventually Meryl Streep got the role that won her an Oscar. How devastating for an actress! So no surprise Kate got really frustrated about these things! Those 70’s machos sure hated it to have an assertive woman on the set. As long as a woman did as being told and wore skimpy outfits they adored her. If not…..... When a man is outspoken he gets praise. When a woman does the same they hate and insult her! A typical sexist attitude! Even today.

BTW for the record Farrah did wear a bathing suit in Mexican Connection. Loved her and the rest of the angels, but yes Cheryl Ladd should have been up there giving tribute to Aaron as well. Cheryl was certainly a key player in the series, you know when Farrah did that exit stage left from the show. ( R.I.P Farrah)
WTH was up with Jaclyn? Pointing out twice that Kate "always" wanted to wear turtlenecks. When in reality she wore a lot of other stuff, too. If it weren't for Kate to co-create CA Jaclyn would have done a lot more shampoo commercials and no groundbreaking series. And while clothes and glamour were part of the show they were not what made the show. It was Kate. And Farrah. No one was able to save the show when Kate left. Go figure!
This could have been fun if they had talked about some episodes, their characters, not clothes and fashion :(
Robert Wagner was the one who pushed to have Jaclyn Smith on Charlies Angels. He had worked with her before on his other shows, Switch and It Takes a Thief.
It was supposed to be a blonde, a brunette and a red head but RJ insisted on Jaclyn and he was a producer of the show, at the time I believe.
Spot on, Kandik! Jaclyn got the role because of her porcelain doll beauty. That's it. Flawless but somewhat dull. Her audition had been a disaster. So as Lori said, Robert Wagner pushed to have Jaclyn on the show. Frankly she always was just sort of there. Beautiful but her lines always sounded rehearsed. Whereas Farrah was the phenom. Her poster, hair and teeth, nipples, charisma. But she was not really an actress at that point. Had no range.
Bottoml line: Kate Jackson created the show, carried the show, was a phenomenal actress, was just as gorgeous (yes!!) and had great charisma!! To say she was "the smart one" and she loved turtlenecks doesn't do her any justice. And Jaclyn knows that. Should know that! So that was a silly thing to say.
Charlie's Angels went downhill when Kate Jackson left! And the other Angels owe her their fame. Kate deserves a lot more recognition!
This is what I have heard a lot. The fittings for the outfits took a lot of time on top of the 15 hours shooting a day. I think Kate pushed that she didn’t want to be fitted so when ever possible they would just give her a shirt and she would stand behind the bar. So the other girls might have resented Kate for getting her way when fashion was such a huge part of the show and the time the others put into that part of it.
@@elizabritton4039 While it is true that Kate loved to stand behind the bar so she could wear jeans and a lovely top, most scenes were not behind the bar. And Jaclyn pointed out more than once that Kate was not into the whole fashion thing but she and Farrah loved it. In fact they loved to go to Rodeo Drive and get the latest fashion for the show. They had no reason to resent Kate for not wanting to do all the costume fittings. Kate, Farrah and Jaclyn were close friends until Farrah passed away. And Jaclyn and Kate are still close to this day.

Wow! I see this is 10 year's old at least but this is the first time I ever saw this. I was a true fan of all 3 original 😇 angels. I was a kid who used loved to watch that show to see 3 beautiful women who work for a private eye & got the bad guy. The show to me was a wonderful, exciting, fun & up lifting for women 💪 who can be beautiful & kick asses too Lol!!! I use to couldn't wait for Wed evening for Charlie Angel's to come on. Sabrina was the pretty & smart one the leader Jill, was the beautiful , daring & athletic one & Jaclyn Smith character she was also the very beautiful & smart one too. All 3 of them played a very positive role model especially as women getting the bad guy & kicking ass 👏 . This was one of my top faves show. I watched it even until it went off the air. I don't know if anyone noticed Farrah. If u really look at her & her body language u can see she doesn't look & act herself at all. Infact, she acts if she is hiding something.U can hear it in her voice. I know they all r older & some have gone through some real major ordeal's but Farrah looks bad sorry to say. She looks & especially sounds very BROKEN so very sad. Out of all 3 she was my favorite 😇. I felt bad when she left the show & I felt even worst, when she left Lee Majors who loved & adored her. They were having problems but, he thought they were going to mk it work. He went on his acting show out of town & asked his so called trusted best firend to just keep a eye on her until he gets bck. Well I am sure Lee Majors thought his so called bestie which was Ryan O'Neal would 🤔 back stab him & take Advantage & swoo his wife while he was temporarily gone Can u imagine a women u love & adore having problems but, hopeing things will work out? U trust ur bestie to just keep a eye on her not to take advantage & get her to leave u for him. That's what that SOB RYAN O'NEAL , did!!! In my option Farrah really has not looked or sound good every since she left her husband Lee Majors bck then 🤔 & then to mk matters even worst she left him for his best firend at the time also Ryan, during their relationship he verbally & physically ABUSED her & she started using drugs because of him I believe. Sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other side. Sometimes u have to really evaluate ur situation & time with this person & ask do I really want to leave this man who really loves & adores me & if so, certainly not for his BEST FIREND AT THE TIME RYAN O'NEAL. At around 4:00 jacklyn says that it took someone as strong as Arron to make the studio believe in making a show with 3 women to create the show. Right after they pan to Arron in the audience he leans to the side taps the man and I read his lips, he said that’s true you know.

These 3 did have the best chemistry out of all the angels...probably because they were really friends in real life. Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd are friends, but from what I read Kate Jackson was not very found of Cheryl. In this interview, Kate Jackson looks a lot more attractive than Farrah. Jaclyn was clearly the most beautiful. Kate looks just as pretty as she did on the actual show, but although I love Farrah, I have to admit she did not maintain her looks as well as the others. Cheryl Ladd is gorgeous to this day.

Looks aren't everything though and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.Everyone sees beauty differently.Jaclyn is my favourite though,she always had the face of an angel.I work with a girl who looks a lot like her,except she has little freckles on her cheeks and is really petite,short.
I think Kate's lack of fondness for Cheryl comes out of the fact that Farrah was gone. Her anger was mis-directed at Cheryl, but it's understandable. She must have felt that someone was coming in to replace her good friend Farrah.
Regardless, I think that Cheryl did a fine job on the show and it must have been tough for her to come in to a show like that.
CatLady 493 in an interview -which you find on you tube- Cheryl Ladd admitted to letting success get to her. She would have somebody get her coffee. She started to party lots which led to her marriage end. That divorce woke her up. Then she met her second husband who was also a divorcée with a young daughter. Together with her 2nd husband and their financial collapse kept them humble and realistic as they rebuilt their careers. Farrah, Kate, and Jaclyn had all been in the Hollywood scene and around other celebrities long enough to know not to act like a diva because it doesn’t take much to fall out in Hollywood
The reason why Kate kept Cheryl at arm's length was the fact that Cheryl behaved like a diva on the set. Kate was a pro and hated how Cheryl treated some people on the set. Plus Cheryl was a big time right-winger. And Kate was a liberal Democrat. Go figure.

this is a very nice reunion of all three of them-but farrah does not look like she used to-a signal of things to come in her short life.

Jaclyn has always been like a Barbie doll. Never appealed to me. I always preferred Kate and Farrah.
"Once upon a time, there were 3 little girls who l went to the Police Academy, two in Los Angeles and one in San Francisco". What a great show! Shame that Tanya Roberts passed away very early this year. What can you say about Jaclyn Smith? Graceful? Elegant? Classy? She's a lady from the top of her head to the soles of her feet. I could go on and on. She's aged absolutely beautifully. My favorites were, in this order: 1. Kelly Garrett (Smith) 2. Kris Munroe (Ladd) 3. Jill Munroe ( Fawcett) 4. Tiffany Welles ( Hack) 5. Julie Rogers (Roberts) 6. Sabrina Duncan (Jackson)
My favorite is Kate Jackson who was Angel No. 1, the first angel to be cast because she had also created it together with the producers. Charlie's Angels is her idea. Without her none of the other women would have ever been heard of. She was also the best actress by far and made the show. Once Kate left, after three years, that was also the end of Charlie's Angels.

Kate Jackson will always be #1. The show would not exist if it weren't for her and the others would still be doing shampoo commercials. Also no one was able to carry the show once Kate had left. She was irreplaceable!

I liked Shelly and Tayna as well. They should be more included often in reunions.
The original three started it all. The first year was HUGE. And Kate Jackson invented this show, was the best actress and kept the whole thing afloat when Farrah was replaced. After Kate left it went downhill and no one was able to save the show without Kate.
The original Angels are everything! Kate, Farrah, Jaclyn. In that order!
